The main building of the W.O.L.F. team remains largely unchanged since it's founding centuries back. When the initial settlers found the generous and safe harbor that the lands provided they gave up their seafaring ways and called this land their own. In return for maintaining the peace of the land they were witness to many magical things and experiences that enriched their minds, bodies and even souls. However such peace wasn't easily obtained and harder still to maintain. Most normal folk gave in to the lull of other easier pursuits and skills leaving this sanctuary unguarded for many decades.

That was until it was rediscovered by travelers who sought refuge. The first of the Lycanthropes that found the abandoned structure used it as merely a den. Somewhere to sire it's litter and regain it's strength. A place to brave the winter and avoid human violence. As she regained parts of her humanity through reading the logs and journals that were left by those that habituated this building before them she grew more and more in love with the idea of a haven ... for all those runaways and castoffs from society. Her dream was not a simple one though, nor easy to implement.

It took years to perfect a subterfuge and integrate into close towns and groups as the nearby town of Moonlight springs took shape. Others had seen the promise of these lands too. Creatures of the night. Women of the brew. Yet they all know that this place would only be home if they all kept the secret safe among them. So pacts were made and bonds forged.

Ages pass on but traditions remain. The last of those whispers barely audible but on some days ... the echos are loud as thunder.

Garris Pensive wasn't in the best of moods. Younger than most in his current position of power and all the more tired for it. The position of Park Warden didn't sound impressive to most ordinary folk because their mental image of it was reduced and trivialized by most branches of media. A job that required less training and less work aside from maintenance and some checkups around the designated area to display a degree of competency.

Not in his forest. Not on their land.

"Hyane?"
he tried again for the umpteenth time on his radio. "Come in Hyane? Do you copy? Over.". Pensive was in the mood to rend flesh from bone as his grip caused the outer metal casing of his Talkie to groan in pitiful protest. The reason behind his foul mood this bright and otherwise lovely noon was the reports of a missing hiker in their parts of the forest. Assuming that the signal was the issue he got up out of their headquarters and cabin to the highest perch on their property. It was a short walk for him and left him no more winded than it'd ever done before.

"Hyane? If you're reading this then get back to me as soon as possible.Over." Panzer Panzer

The sound of light steps whispered through the bright forest, sharing a slow and rhythmic beat against the soil. At least, he could swear she heard footsteps. The sound echoed in the back of her mind, clouding her thoughts with a thin shadow. Yet, Hyane pushed it away from her thoughts. She looked across the empty forest with a distant stare, wearing a disappointed scowl across her face. The silence had given thought to her, turning her own actions into embarrassing displays of horrid humor.

There was another feeling...this burning feeling within her heart- that sent small waves of chilling fear through her nerves. Those wretched steps! She couldn't ignore them. Her mind began clicking her thoughts back into place when suddenly...she heard a voice... her name...
"Hyane..." She turned her head away from the field, Forcing her focus onto another thing- something at least. She spotted a peculiar rock staring back at her...it held a smile written in blue marker. She gripped the marker in her hand- she had almost forgotten about Mr.stone who had been standing there the whole time!

No... no more foolishness. She wasn't going to continue a conversation with the stone. Her mind felt like mere pieces- like an unfinished or unsolved puzzle. She was better than this...

"
Come in Hyane- do you copy?" An eerie realization hit her like a blast of cold air. Someone- whom she had forgotten the name of- was trying to contact her over the radio. In fact, she cannot recall when she met him. The past few days have been a blurred mess of sugar induced highs and almost no sleep.

The steps in her mind burned through her thoughts. she froze, hesitating to pick up the radio. She didn't want to speak- something pulled her mind away from her. This feeling of someone watching...

She slowly picked up the radio, curiosity eating away at her sanity.
"
Hello? Yes- What's up? Hello? Ugh." She groaned out of frustration, tossing the radio towards the rock. It wouldnt work. The damned thing was dead.

She immediately regret her anger driven choice, as the silence befell once more across the empty forest. Everything was quiet...
All except those damned footsteps.

"Great, just fucking great" were the only words Jackson could mumble as the ATV went along the trails that ran throughout the forest. In the middle of a beautiful day, when he could be relaxing back at headquarters, he's out looking for a missing persons. Apparently a hiker went missing out in their neck of the woods. Honestly, how can someone be this stupid? It's as simple as it can get. Stay on the path, and we won't have to come out and find you. he thought. He could hardly hear himself over the roaring engine. In other news, something W.O.L.F needed to do was to look into some more quiet ATVs. He rode along, scanning the surrounding forest for this missing hiker. He wasn't having any luck. Jackson had already stopped a few times and shut off the engine to call for the person, but to no avail. At this moment he couldn't help but wonder what the rest of the "team" was doing. Garris was more than likely the same as Jackson, frustrated. Hyane, one of the newer people, seems to be a little out of it judging by how she's been the past few days. Carlos, well, Carlos he didn't know too much about.

After a few stops and covering a good chuckle of their land, Jackson stopped again and grabbed his radio. "This is Harper, I'm not seeing this person yet. I'm almost done covering the trails. I'll have to resort to going by foot in order to find them" he called to Garris over the radio. Jackson would take the ATV off-trail but he didn't want to get it stuck or bust it. The last thing they needed was a missing quad too.

After a few more attempts he'd finally patched through to Hayne!

"-ello? Yes- What's u-? Hel-o? Ug-." He could make out static and her voice before hearing a thud and then silence. "...KRRRRSSSSSHZZZZZTTHZZ-.." Not sure what to make of it he tried to hail her again but it was even worse than before.Total silence. Taking a deep breath he made his way to the lodge and paused only to try for another one of his recruits. Just as he was about to punch in for Harper he got the sound of... Panzer Panzer

"..RrrrsSS... This is Harper, I'm not seeing this person y-t. I'm almost done covering the trails. I'll h-ve to resort to going by foot in order to find them." Garris heard over the radio and was happy some progress was being made even if the results weren't matching the effort they'd put. Raku Raku

"Copy that. You've got permission but remember to be careful on that side. It's not too late in the day but you might run into some of the larger wildlife if you go too far off the trail.Oh and keep a nose out for Hayne. Last I checked she's not too far from your location. It seems like her radio needs repl-cing again. It's a damn -nder how she k-eps breaking them." he scratched his chin as we walked to the park map and crossed of the section that Harper had just searched.

"At least the net's getting thinner now that we've covered almost 3 of the major areas. The others should be nearly done with their sides too so try not to take too long on your end. Over." he cut the call and brooded.

While the two members of WOLF were in the middle of tracking the missing hiker around the woods who had gone missing two days before. The reason why the case wasn't being given more due attention was the fact that the man who was suspected to be lost had come alone and the report was filled by the hotelier back at town. Allegedly the man didn't appear back on the time he'd announced and all his items were still in his room. Even more odd was the fact he'd paid for a week in advance preventing the Hotelier from doing much with that regard. His inquiries eventually reached their more 'formal' circles and drew the interest of the others. Assuming the man hadn't simply gotten lost or hurt there could be darker sources conspiring without the knowledge of the others and this did not sit well with them. Seeing as it fell under their jurisdiction, the WOLF team continued to treat the matter as only that.

More baffling was that the ID that ha been given to the Hotelier proved to be expired. Not only that but the numbers and contact information proved to be dead ends. Now it was a good while later and the 'noble' leader was on the fast route to an aneurysm. Deciding to join in the search he put on his coat and closed up the place before heading to one of the unmanned areas.

Jackson tapped his on the dirt of the trail as he stood waiting for Garris to respond. As usual, it didn't take long for him to do so. Through some small breaks of static, he understood that Garris was giving the "all clear" while issuing a small warning and asking him to look for Hyane. It was a wonder how she keeps busting her radios. Jackson planned to ask her that question when he got back. As Garris ended the call Jackson returned his radio to it's holster and looked out into the woods. He was going out there next, but he was going to look for footprints first. He continued slowly on the ATV, keeping an eye out for two things. Any footprints or anything the hiker left behind and Hyane. He had no doubt that Hyane was going back to get another radio, so she was not the priority.

Just as he was almost finished, his luck prevailed and something caught his eye. It was an imprint of a boot in the slightly wet dirt. It wasn't very fresh, but it was very old either. Right now he had two options. Test sense of smell now and track or track in wolf form. One was risky, but it would go a bit faster. It took a moment of debating but he ultimately decided to not do this in wolf form, just to avoid the risk. He cracked his neck before taking out his radio again. "Jackson again. I'm going into the woods east of my ATV" he called to Garris quickly before running into the forest, following the tracks of the missing person, not only the footprints but also their scent.

Something burned the back of her skull. It just wouldn't go away...
It wasn't the sun, which had been blocked by the numerous branches and leaves. It wasn't a headache- as it was a constant, yet unidentifiable sensation. It sent chills down her spine and gave her a sickly sense to her nerves, like a virus or a cold.

Something else was out there.
It was watching her.
She stood still, with one arm holding the other and slouching down from the sheer feeling of paranoia. The senses tingled and jittered around, much like her eyes that hastily scanned the area.

After a moment of complete silence, the teenager was suddenly pulled back into reality. She focused her vision, steadied her breathing, and forced herself into a semi-calm state. The silence had driven her to a delusional paranoia once more, and she was sick of it.

She couldn't fight this feeling...this haunting sensation of unwanted attention. She told herself that it was simply made-up.She recalled the days when it was normal to have such a fear. "it was just your imagination...there was no reason to be afraid."... She began to cling to the thought, hoping that it was truly the reason why she felt so...
paranoid.

She leaned back against the tree, looking up to the sky in a combination of fear and weariness. She had forced herself back into her thoughts, scrambling to put them back together- hoping to resolve this conflict and eliminate this feeling from her mind. She struggled silently with her mind, watching it slip further and further into fear. As the feeling of defeat grasped her mind, her weary body slid down and rested itself against the tree. Her eyes looked out to the empty forest, watching the beautiful scenery as time slowly ticked along.

Her thoughts soon turned to memories- memories of the past of her uncontrollable and mischievous self- where she had caused embarrassment for herself, her parents, or her friends. She couldn't shake the weight of her failures. As if an unseen audience watched over her, constantly whispering in her mind; "You are a horrible person.".

As her mind's attention changed, so did Hyane's. She held a small rock in her hands, holding it close to her face. The rock had a cute little face drawn in a blueish- gray ink.

The rock smiled at her, and Hyane smiled back.

A lone bear made it's way through the forest. A male. Slightly wounded from the look of it's flank. Nothing fatal but it's movements seem partially impaired and it trudges in silence as if conserving it's strength. Stopping, it sniffs at the air. Opening it's maw to let out a hot puff of air as it's tongue tasted the scents of the forest. Having lost in a fight for dominance against another male it had sought to find a mother bear with children. Only when it did approach and head toward the children with the intent to harm them, the mother retaliated fiercely. Having beat a hasty retreat it had found itself deep in this section of the forest and spotted no sources of food for a whole two days.

Half insane due to hunger and the slowly healing wounds it was in a desperate condition. That's when it stumbled upon a man's corpse. At first it nuzzled it and took a bite, testing the body. After confirming it dead and not yet rotten he knew it to be freshly dead. Now that it had done it's testing it tasted the flesh before ripping off the clothes that rudely covered it's meal. That was when a growl sounded behind the bear and it turned in a slow and lazy motion. It's lack of response a clear indication of how highly it viewed itself, even injured, that it could take on any predators that might make themselves known.

The figure lifted a bat and smashed against the lower jaw of the bear. The bone snapped and the jaw was ripped asunder and it let out a wretchious howl that permeated the forest for miles. Then the figure swung a total of two more times and the bear lay there. Hungry no more.

Hyane found herself clucthing the remains of the radio in her hand, stumbling through the dense forest flora That scraped against her pants. Her lungs burned and stung as she huffed. She couldnt run anymore.

Her legs ached from the long run. She could barely stand from her mad dash for...survival? For her own health? She couldnt recall why she had sprinted in the first place. The memory was hazy and almost felt to distant to grasp it.

She set her arm across the bark of a tree, leaning herself against it a she struggled to catch her breath. The air was still, stinging her burning lungs with each breath.

After a moment to regain her bearings, she looked to the broken radio that she held to her chest. The small screen was severely cracked, showing nothing but a couple of unintelligible markings that use to be letters.
It wouldn't hurt if she could try...

Before she was able to decide if she should try to fix the radio, a far-off growl and a loud impact echoed through the woods. Hyane stood for a moment, her nerves froze from the chilling sound. Someone- Something else was out here... That little whisper In the back of her mind made it clear- something wasn't right.

Her dazed steps drew closer and closer to the origin of the noise. She continued to clutch the radio, and kept it close to her chest as she walked. She had the look of fear as her eyes glanced about the small shadows in the distance. It didn't feel like her own body anymore- she felt trapped and constricted. She knew herself well enough to tell that she was not brave enough to handle this, nor was she prepared for what-ever may lay ahead. Yet, she carried on her investigation- hoping that it may be harmless or even helpful. The doubt in her mind told her to stop, but she had gathered enough courage to push further into the forest.

"Hello?" She asked the silent forest.
"Anyone out there?"
