Hey there, I'm Tex.
Over the history of my role-playing, I've only had hopes to see one RP through to the end: One that is still ongoing, and happens to be frozen on hiatus while we wait on somebody.
When it comes to role playing, I'm straightforward. If I'm losing interest in something, I try to approach the GM about the issues before bailing. When it comes to GMing myself, which I find myself doing more often than not, I encourage everyone participating in my stories to not only approach me with problems they have, in order to keep the entire thing fun for everybody, but also use the freedom that their characters have to have an influence.
I RP high-fantasy more often than not, due to the sheer freedom it allows, but I've also dabbled in other genres that pique my interest. I put a particular focus on action, character psychology, and plot. When it comes to settings and visualisation however, I suffer slightly. I'm more of an information advocate. There's nothing wrong with fluffy writing, but I don't like using it, and I don't like reading it, even if it's really pretty.
Although I'd consider myself 'skilled' or whatever, I don't like to judge people on how well they write when role playing. I adjust the length, detail, and complexity of my posts to match the general atmosphere of a group the best I can, and aim to have fun, rather than improve on my writing abilities. That's what university is for >_>
I do however, hate it when people delay RPs for days at a time. I don't hold it against anyone, but if role-plays slow down significantly, I take it that players have lost interest, and I will not invest my time into a project that has very clearly lost its light, unless I'm the GM, in which case that's my job!
Looking forward to meeting new people, and finding a group of cool cats.
I'll be throwing interest checks out there real soon.
