Hey guys

So, I'm new here and really have no idea how to add people or how to find partners to roleplay...can anyone help me? i don't know how to use the site at all.

Hey there, welcome to the site! It's pretty simple to use once you get used to everything but for starters let me show you some basics.
Since this ended up being much longer than I expected please click the spoiler button below to reveal the info.

So, how do you find an rp? Well by going to this link you'll be headed to the recruitment thread. There people normally post ideas they have for one on one, group, dice or off-site ads.

For group recruitment rps: These rps aren't really set in stone as some get different levels of interest but if enough people show interest in joining then things normally head towards the actual roleplay threads where the person who originally posted the interest check will make an actual rp thread along with any other threads needed. (character sheets, out of character talk, etc.) After that's done the original poster will normally return to link the new roleplay thread or tag those who showed interest.

One on one recruitment rps: More commonly known as partner searches, there are a lot more to the point since people only really need another roleplayer to show interest. How people contact each other usually changes but unless stated so, most people can respond to the original thread expressing their interest. In case people say something like "please do not respond to this thread, private message (pm) me instead." it probably means they don't want the reply counter to get too big, or else other people looking through the interest checks might feel discouraged to message them.

Dice rps: Roleplay Recruitment for non-private roleplay games that require dice mechanics or some other outside system for their roleplay. (I honestly just copied this description since I have no experience with dice rps.)

Off-site ads:
These are basically the same as the previously mentioned recruitment threads, however, the people who post here normally prefer to rp in sites like discord.

However within these categories there are also prefixes which are: Fandom, Fantasy, Futuristic, Realistic or modern, Multiple settings, Nation building, Coloseum and Quests. These are all color coded to make things easier. Now let's get into each one.

Fandom: This one's pretty much what it sounds like. It's people naming what fandoms they know and which ones they'd like to rp. Can involve canon characters or original characters. Normally the original poster will specify and if not you can always clarify in pms.

Fantasy: Although not always, this type of rp usually sticks to medieveal settings. but of course, plots can change. Pretty open to non-human characters though, again, it's best to consult with the op who can also be called game master (gm)

Futuristic: This can go a couple of different ways. Some of the more popular ones I've seen are utopias or mechas. This is basically anything with advanced gadgets or human modifictions.

Realistic or modern:
Very slice of life, normally nothing too out there but it can have some hints of fantasy as long as it's mostly rooted in real life. Normally for sign ups people will use face claims which basically represent your character with photos of real life people. This isn't unheard of in other types of rps but some people in realistic just prefer face claims over character drawings or anime pictures. Though this could very well be the opposite, where you're asked to provide a photo of a character drawing instead of a face claim.

Multiple settings: I've normally seen this used more for one on one rps where the op has some ideas for their plot in mind and are simply awaiting people to contact them and specify which plot they'd like to tackle. But apparently this option is also avilable for groups so I imagine it's an op laying out all their plots, letting the majority decide which one they'd like to do.

Again I've come to the point where I'd really be lying to you if I said I know the slightest thing about the other three prefixes so instead of possibly misinforming you or confusing you I'm just gonna leave it here and hope someone else might be able to help you.

Finally! How to add people.
Well it's a bit weird since there's really no way to actually "add" people, but there is a way to follow them. It's pretty easy! You just click on their names or hover over their profile picture and you'll be taken to their profile where you'll get a button saying 'follow'. It's as easy as that. Though, a small warning, some people may restric who views their profile so you might not be able to follow them.

I think that's pretty much it on the basics. I might come back to add some terminology that could be useful to you but I hope this little guide has overall helped you a bit. Have fun roleplaying and if there's any other questions that might come up please feel free to send me a pm or just tag me on this thread.

I'll just drop this here...
