Advice/Help Help with RP awareness?

One Thousand Club
I've written a few RP's on this site and others, but I find one problem over and over. I can't really get people to read the threads. I tend to get interest once several people have read it, but I can't seem to get even criticisms of an RP and the threads get very few views. So, any tips, specifically with making a good title?

(I don't mean clickbait.)

I think it has more to do with the media than anything. Rp is an interactive experience so it stands to reason that people who aren't participating in the rp would be less interested in it than in other forms of media more focused on non interactive consumption. Most of the time if I read an rp it's to get a feel for a potential partners style, or to pick up tips and tricks to use in my own rps.

Are you doing interest checks? Here on this site at least. The interest check system isn't perfect, but it does what it's designed to do well enough. If your other site doesn't have an interest-check like place, then they need to get one. At minimum, that's where you should be putting your things.

You can get interest passively, but to do that you need an actual RP. Not just an overview and a small description saying you're planning to work things out. It has to be finished. If the RP looks to be a good experience, I'm sure you'll receive interest after it has started. Some people would like to see it "test-driven" before committing, cause let's be honest; RPs tend to implode quickly or never get off the ground. I figure it leaves a lot of people jaded.

Third. You can put you and your RP out there (Public posts, PMs) but I wouldn't suggest doing that unless you're confident it's going to be something good. Seriously. Basically it's putting your reputation on the line and if the RP doesn't live up to the hype you're giving...eh. Let's just say that will damage you for a while.

Interest check your RP and IMO, it's better to complete it before inviting people. If you already do complete RPs before starting invites, accept the people you've got and RP from there. Doesn't matter if it's 2,3,4 people. Nothing else really matters if everyone is enjoying it.

I only put out finished RP's before, I haven't done an interest check in a very long time. I feel kinda dwarfed by my BBCode-bearing competition.

I mean I know how to use BBCode to make an RP look cool but I really don't like doing it.

Don't worry about it. Always go substance over style. As long as you know you have a solid RP, it can be something neat, to-the-point, and clean. Just getting a check up so people know you have an RP is the main point.

You need to have some, y'know, panache in your words. You either go for a dry, laconic style, or a glitzy, aesthetic one.

Also, people are going to pay more attention to your substance if it's of a thoughtful nature — try BBcoding, but keep it minimalistic. Just to add to the theme.

Well first it's kind of jarring to be thrown into what I assume is the plot without any kind of indication. Especially with I gues the OOC comment at the top?

So get rid of that.

Put a header that says The Plot above the actual plot portion.

I would make a separate header explaining the stats.

A third header with the Rules of the roleplay. How long is this gonna last, what are the limitations for characters, where do you post the characters? How many can you have, when can you post? How often/ much should you post.

And probably if the CS are meant to be in a seperate thread just link it at the bottom.

I agree with Geek. I didn't know it was was dice RP. Dice RPs are hard to recruit for period. Throw in a small introduction and I see why you're having problems. If it was free-form and a had a bit more context, that would help immensely. Like what condition Kansas City is in. Or more info on how the virus came about. I don't see any world-building at all.
