hello! I'm new and me and my sister need help!

Hello there! It has been a long time since I have actually roleplayed on a forum; roleplaying on forums has always been my favorite since you can always find several good ideas and jump right in; sometimes.


But before i ask questions;


hello! i'm kit. just call me kit i suppose! Until i feel comfortable and sure of what kind of "persona" i'd like to come up with for roleplaying purposes. etc. anyway, me and me sister are curious?? how do you go about roleplaying here? is anime big? is this more fantasy? do you jump in or create a character? ETC.


i'm not sure if this is the proper place to type this up.


anyway, i use to be a member of a roleplaying forum area called "dollwizard.com" it was the last place i roleplayed, forum wise. i've been to asianfanfics.com, tumblr, and facebook to roleplay.


but forums are always my favorite.


so on dollwizard, we would create a story line, then below the story line, one would fill out a "Form". The form would be like..:


Name:


Age:


Gender:


Likes:


Dislikes:


so on and so forth, and be very thorough so people could get to know the character. Then when the deadline would come up the person who posted the thread would start the story and relationships developed and interests between characters/fights would irrupt. it was rather fun! so i was wondering, is that how things are here?


or do you just say, "here is the idea now someone start" kind of thing? any help would be appreciated it has been a LONG time.

Q: "How do you go about roleplaying here?"

A: Hop over to the forums section - scroll down a bit and you should see several sections of roleplaying, including group, 1x1's, and dice specific plays. Scroll around, see if you find one you like. If you want, you can also look in the interest checks and see if anybody is thinking of starting a roleplay that sparks your interest.



Q: "Is anime big?"

A: Yes, indeed it is! You can find 'anime' roleplays in any site genre - however, if you're looking to roleplay a specific universe, the "Fandom" section would be your best bet!



Q: "Is this more fantasy?"

A: Not sure exactly what you mean here, but fantasy is a big genre here. However, we also have Sci-Fi (Futuristic), Realistic, Fandom, Dice, and 1x1.



Q: "Do you jump in or create a character?"

A: Almost 100% of roleplays will ask you to make a character at their personal standards. In roleplays, there is a 'Character Sign-Up' tab.



The DollWizard way is quite similar - typically, the GM, or Game Master, will create a roleplay under its own thread, then set the guidelines and information for their roleplay. You have to read this information, then build your character and posts to fit

oh thank you! the reason i was even asking these questions was, as a result, from me searching through other already started roleplays, and finding that most just set up a time and place, and characters jumped in. I tend to like knowing whats going on and how characters are expected to be. But doesn't mean i can't adopt! so thank you so much for replying ^^

actually, i do have one more question. I might just be confusing myself in this manner, but what does it mean to have a "dice" roleplay or genre? I saw that it said "any" genre but i just want to confirm haha

If you're familiar with DnD (Dungeon and Dragons), that's kind of what it's based on - basically, you use dice to decide on stats, actions, etc. For example ->


I want my character to hit an enemy.


I roll a dice (we have a virtual system).


1-3 I fail, and probably end up getting hit myself.


4-7, I hit, doing a normal amount of damage.


8-9, I do extra damage, a critical hit.
