Footsteps. They echoed loudly through the hallway of the large laboratory. A voice, followed by heavy breaths of a scientist could be heard in the large room. "Doktor! I haff news! Ve developed ze very first Preternatural!"
The doctor, who had listened intently to the story of the scientist. The word Preternatural resonated in his head as he nodded slowly.
"Good work. Send this news to Eneria by paper. We cannot risk being wire tapped." The doctor pulled out a piece of paper and extended it out to the scientist. As this happened, the heavy metal door began to creak. Suddenly, it burst open, showing the figure of a heavily muscled man, with electrodes hanging off his body. He raised his foot and, with a mighty grunt, brought it crashing down onto the floor. The floor bent and twisted under his foot, turning the entire metal cellar into a twisted piece of garbage. The doctor felt an impact on his head; then all feeling ceased altogether.
"V-Vait! Y-You do not understand, you are very trouble-ACK!"
As the scientist attempted to speak, the muscular man lifted him up by the collar. He spoke in a heavily distorted voice.
"Send to Eneria by paper. Make...others. Advancement. Key."
The scientist gulped. He felt himself fall to the ground, then found himself scrambling to write the letter per dictation of the experiment himself. The first experiment, was also the first rebellion.
"Dear Man...kind..."
The letter was sent to Eneria. Received on the same day. Many changes took place starting on that very day itself.
A gloved hand reached out to grab a tablet from the drawer. The drawer closed immediately once it recognized the tablet and hand were both removed from the vicinity. The hand tapped away at the screen of the tablet, setting various things into motion. Several canisters of fluid, some labeled and some not, began to whirl around the room as per the robotic hands' wills. The swivel chair turned, revealing a man wearing thick spectacles, staring right into a camera, which broadcasted throughout the entire city.
"The city of Eneria is once again reminding you of its glorious, state-of-the-art technology. We are several years ahead in technology, approximately twenty to thirty years ahead, of the rest of the world. As such, we have devised an experiment to display the wonderful aspects of humanity. Superhumans! We are attempting to transform these superhumans into heroes, ones that can fight for the city and avert all crime! See, crime is the only problem that nobody can fix. But maybe after completing this program, the 50 in the Heldenprojekt will be able to solve that problem."
