Before I share the storyline that I had in mind, I would like to share some data about myself.
I was inspired by a real-life event, and I thought I’d submit this storyline for your consideration.
Moving to a new town can be a tragedy for a teenager set in his ways. Such as it was with Josh Nakayama. He has lived in the big city for all his nearly 18 years. His mom got a new job, and the family has moved to the small town of Sutter which has a population of roughly 4300.
Josh has various hobbies. He was a running back for his high school’s football team; he laments that the season has progressed far enough where he the local team’s roster has been set. He loved to draw; the quality has been highly rated. He enjoys cooking/baking/eating. It is his culinary interests that earned him the nickname Jaws. This segues into an additional interest. Although he enjoys movies, he has a certain fondness for monster movies. His favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction which applies not only to movies but comics and TV shows as well. He enjoys music from the 80s the most. Scholastically, he has an affinity for the sciences. His favorite are Biology, Chemistry, and Astronomy.
Despite being handsome and popular, he was without companionship. Various reasons were given as to why. The true reason was that he was closeted to all except his parents and his best friend back home. He yearns to share his heart with another young man. Maybe, one day, he will go public. This is my character.
Your character is Josh’s new neighbor. You live next door to him, but you don’t know it yet because you and your family were away for a mini-vacation and didn’t get home until late Sunday. All you know is that the previously long vacant house next to yours is now occupied. Monday is here, and school has just started for the day. The principal has called you to his office. What have you done to deserve such a summons? You enter the administration office with your heart thumping in trepidation. After a minute or two, you are told that the principal is ready for you. You open the door and find the unexpected.
Inside, the principal is not alone. The principal is radiating with optimism as you are asked to take a seat. Occupying the chair next to you is a young man who is introduced as a new student who has the same schedule as you. As a result, you have been chosen to be his guide for the day.
It is only at the end of the day when you get home do you find out who your new neighbor is as you see a familiar truck pull up in the driveway of the formerly vacant house. Is it him? A young man gets out. It is him. You have just found out that the guy you’ve been showing around campus all day is your new neighbor.
Your character can be another jock who participates in the sport of your choice, or your character can be a geek. Regardless of his social status, he is probably in the closet also and is waiting for the right guy to come along. I envision the storyline beginning as a slice of life as the two slowly become friends and eventually more.
I’ve done worldbuilding with Josh and the town of Sutter. Note that there’s an anachronism regarding him. Although the storyline is set in modern times with cell phones, today’s tech, social media, etc, his family background is consistent with the timeframe when I was a Senior in high school in the late 90s. For example, both his grandfathers served in World War 2.
If interested, please send a PM so we can discuss it further. Thank you.

Character sheet: First, I like to keep character sheets simple. I look for name, age, gender, orientation and physical description. Everything else is optional including face claims.
Post platform: I prefer roleplaying in the forum. PM is for discussing the storyline and brainstorming which I enjoy doing with coauthors.
Point of view: Third person Past Tense
Post length: I have been known to write long posts and short posts, but more on the long side. I believe that post length should as long as it needs to be. That being said, I ask for at least a paragraph. Two is better.
Post frequency: I can post at least twice a week.
Grammar/Spelling: I am not asking for A+ writing, but I want to be able to understand. If you are concerned, I am open to sharing writing samples.
Ghosting: If you need to exit the storyline, just let me know. I get concerned if a week passes with no post or notice regarding a delay.
