A young girl stands in her room. It just so happens that today, October 22nd, is the launch date of the long-awaited game SBURB. The game went through a seriously long debugging process, bypassing all kinds of play-testing, and went strait to the final product. It's been on her wishlist for quite some time now. And today is the day her and her friends play it!

You are ((SELECT 1) >15, >16, >17) years old and your favorite color is PURPLE. You have 7 online friends, all of whom are going to be playing with you.

To respond, simply list your choices from the bold SELECT # group, in which the # is how many options you can choose. Each group should be listed on one line, with a new line between groups.

Example:

You have many INTERESTS, among them being ART AND MUSIC and ANALYSIS, as well as CHARACTER CREATION and DICE SYSTEMS. You're very skilled at PLAYING THE TUBA and when not doing anything, tend to SPACE OUT IN FANTASIES.

Some FANDOMS you're in include POKEMON, CREEPYPASTA, MADOKA MAGICA, and DOCTOR WHO, and you have an unironic taste for SMOOTH JAZZ.

You are 16 years old and your favorite color is PURPLE. You have 7 online friends, all of whom are going to be playing with you.

Your room, as was mentioned prior, is rather average. Relatively small, given that you live in a small apartment. The wall farthest from the door has a window, which allows you to see outside to the next apartment over. The wall is covered in posters you've gained from anime limited box set editions, most of which you don't watch and only hold on to for their resell value. Though if there was one anime you watched and really enjoyed, it was Madoka Magica. You've made quite a fair amount of OC's for that fandom, as you have for your other fandoms, as well as what you think of as beautiful art. You'd say you've done your fair amount of contributing to the community.

But back to your room. Next to the window sits your tuba, resting up against the wall. You don't play it nearly as much as you want to, but school and social life has been pulling you away more and more from your interests. In the corner between the wall containing the door and the wall to the left of the wall with the window, sits your bed. At its feet is a simple dresser, and both furniture items are covered with an ABSURD AMOUNT OF PLUSHIES. In the opposing corner from your bed is a rather large desk set up with your computer, and even more space for rolling dice, so much that you have to reach a little more than comfortable to reach your keyboard. Your computer does, however, have an amazing sound system. At sunset, as the orange glow fills your room, you like to play some lo-fi smooth jazz with the windows open, letting a cool breeze through.

That seems to be about all that's in your room.

Huh, looks like one of your friends is trying to get a hold of you. Perhaps you should answer? But on the other hand, you also want to play that game, Sburb. But you don't know where the discs are at.

What should you do?
> Enter command.

>consult your guardian in case they happen to have the game
>don't pester your chums just yet, they can wait just as you have

> Quickly retrieve arms from dresser.

Of course. And by ARMS, you mean ARMAMENTS. Fetching your limbs from a dresser would simply be too silly to even consider, not to mention nigh impossible without some kind of divine intervention. Pulling open your dresser with your hands, attached to your limb arms, you gaze upon you ARMS. Only a fool would dare enter a strife with their Guardian without first allocating the best possible ARMS to their Strife Specibus... which is ((SELECT 1) >WANDKIND, >SCYTHEKIND, >RIFLEKIND).

You take your favorite of your ARMS collection, which is the trusty base weapon you started out as. It might not do a lot of damage, but hey, it's better than nothing... That, and you actually don't have anything other than it, since your original ARMS never broke. Knowing your pesky older brother, he wouldn't bother buying you a new anything unless the old one was broken. The only way you've ever gotten new things from him was by ((SELECT 1) >STEALING FROM HIM, >CRYING UNTIL HE GAVE IT TO YOU, >STRIFING WITH HIM UNTIL HE RELENTED.)

Speaking of your older brother, you think you hear him tromping around the apartment you two share. He's not a big person, but he's scatter-brained enough to make a lot of racket with he moves. It makes you wonder how he could be so controlled and exact when it came to painting.

You should probably confront him sometime soon for your game discs... If they're not in here, you're going to have to confront him regardless.

>Explore your house.

> Explore your house.

You and your trusty PLASTIC SCYTHE that you accidentally allocated last Halloween make your way out into the hallway. You're no stranger to strifing with your brother, and you like to believe that you've gotten pretty proficient with it, too. You've learned his weak spots, and abuse his emotional uncertainty to no end, even though it makes you feel like an asshole.

Your house, or rather, your APARTMENT, is rather small, and rectangular in shape. The kitchen and the living room are divided by a small island counter, and are square in shape. Outside the front door is a small staircase leading down to the rest of the building and another door in the wall, which you admittedly have never been inside. There's a small hallway that makes something of an L shape, and contains the bathroom, your bedroom, and your brother's bedroom, in order from closest to the living room to furthest from the living room. The living room and kitchen had a very modern feel to it. Covered in sleek hardwood with tasteful fluffy rugs all over, platforms raise the majority of the floor up a few inches, with the two couches you possess and the coffee table between them lowered back down to actual floor height. The entire thing is rather tasteful and modern, but mostly colored in monochrome colors. Blacks, whites, shades of grey.

Mounted on the walls are some of your brother's ARTWORKS, that is, what isn't being shown in museums currently. He likes to take a rather... abstract approach to some of his art. You take a moment to gaze upon the art in the living room right now. The splashes of bold colors and gentle mixes of contrasting and complementing colors... ((SELECT 1) >INSPIRES YOU, >CONFUSES YOU, >BORES YOU).

But back to the task at hand. You need your discs, and your brother's artwork won't distract you from that. Moving to the kitchen, you take a moment to sort through the piles of mail on the counter. Aside from bills, checks from sold art, and requests for specific pieces, there's not a lot here that has to do with you. Especially not a set of envelopes with a picture of a blue house made of blocks on it. You sigh, figuring your brother took your game. Turning your attention towards the hallway, you hear him making his way out of the bathroom, towards you... Well, no time like the present to STRIFE!

> Trip.

You were so busy being confused by your brother's art, that you wind up tripping over the raised platforms while moving away from the couch area. Interior design is a bitch. You would think you'd be used to the raised platforms - they've been here almost all your life, but you're constantly getting bruises on your ankles and legs due to all the time you've spend tripping over these damned platforms. If the house naturally had a dip for the couch that would be one thing, but because they're fucking metal and wood platforms with spotty TASTEFUL RUGS on them, you're constantly getting hurt on them.

> Captchalogue the mail. Just in case.

You move back over to the kitchen counter and captchalogue the PILE OF MAIL, your ((SELECT 1) >CONSTRUCT, >D20, >GRANDSTAFF) modus tucking it all away into a card for you for later use. As you do this, however, your brother steps into the living room, engaging you in a STRIFE!

STRIFE works by the player selecting what action the current character takes, and the opponent taking a turn afterwards to attack in return. You may notice the parenthesis next to the commands, explaining what they do.

Offensive attacks will deal a large amount of damage to the opponent, but will leave the attacker open to a counter attack or parry.

Defensive attacks deal little damage, but will protect the user from the enemy's attack on their turn.

Active attacks deal more damage than passive attacks, and have a chance of doing a second side effect upon successful execution of the attack, but passive defenses aren't as effective.

Passive attacks and defenses do less damage than active attacks and defenses, and don't do a second option, but are more reliable than active attacks and land more easily for a steady damage output.

Reckless attacks do way more damage, but the attacker is almost certainly going to receive damage in turn, if not from their own actions, then from a counter attack. Reckless defenses deal no damage, but will block all incoming damage from the enemy.

Abscond is basically running away. It ends the strife without deciding a victor. Good for if you're on your last legs, but you don't gain anything from absconding prematurely.

> Accuse!

You ACCUSE your brother of causing you to trip, by putting his platforms all over the living room. They've been there forever, so it's not like it's anything new you didn't know was there.

5% damage!

> Guardian Rubric: A Splash of Pain(t)

Your brother takes out a damp paintbrush from his POCKETED ARTIST APRON, rushing forwards as he dabs it in paint from a palette he holds in one hand. With quick brush strokes, he paints all over your face, causing you to take a moment to wipe it all off on one of the kitchen towels.

> Aggrieve!

You AGGRIEVE, spinning your scythe in a very controlled an precise manner, unlike your prior attempts. You've been practicing at school to get a Drum Major position in the marching band by learning and practicing twirling a mace, and that practice helps out now as you perform all kinds of intimidating spins and throws, leaving your brother in shock.

20% damage!

> Guardian Rubric: Revise!

Your brother seems to be too intimidated by your dexterous prowess to possibly continue to strife. He retreats to review your sick tosses and spins, or maybe to paint, and leaves behind a purple colored box.

> STRIFE WON!

You ascend one rung on your Echeladder, from LOWLY UNDERLING to DICE NERD.

> Captchalogue box and return to your room.

You scramble over to claim your reward from your strife, and quickly retreat to your room before your brother returns, demanding a repeat performance. You recall that your friends have been attempting to get a hold of you before you left, but you also have your reward to open, and the mail to sort through...

Your GRANDSTAFF MODUS assigns a pattern of notes to the PURPLE BOX, making a small, nonsensical melody.

The notes are decided by simply walking up and down the musical staff in whatever key you dictate, and assigning M to the note middle C, the note between the bass clef and the treble clef, or the closest equivalent note if middle C is not used in the selected key.

Grand-Staff-normal.jpg

You currently have the KEY set to C MAJOR. It's not the KEY of B-FLAT that you learned on, but it's easy enough.

To get the item back, you're going to have to play your TUBA.

Yeah, no. This melody, or any melody you put into your modus, usually comes out really shitty. You have to go really high and really low in one line. Not very fun. It was more helpful when you were first learning how to play, but it's more annoying now. You begrudgingly play the melody, and your PURPLE BOX pops out of your Sylladex, doing a swan dive and landing on your desk.

You don't think your brother is smart enough or coy enough to actually pull a switcheroo on you. In fact, you don't think much of your brother in the slightest. He's mostly there to produce money and regulate how much you use, but given your past strife, you are hardly perturbed by stomping on him 'till you get your way. Some people would call it a bitchy attitude, but it's what you're used to, and your brother won't budge for anything else.

Anyways, back to the box. It's about as tall as a shoebox, and half as long. It makes you really question if it'll actually hold your game discs, since it looks like the wrong shape, a bit too bulky, and impractical for a video game company to ship games like that. After all, the game isn't available in stores - you have to order it off the official website to get it. You open the box, careful not to re-captchalogue it, and peer inside. Indeed, there's two envelopes, one with a purple-colored spirograph, and another with a purple house design, the body of the house made out of eight blocks. Both envelopes have the game name on it, SBURB, printed in a silly purple font. You pull them out.

[ S ] > Install.

You sit through a rather boring animation of a multi-color spirograph swirling over a slightly animated screensaver of the open sky as the client disc, the disc from the envelope labeled client, installs on your computer. Finally, the game seems to load...

... and it's just a command prompt. What fucking game just gives you a command prompt? This is utter bullshit. The command prompt prompts you to press enter, and you do so, if only so you can try and figure out how to quit this dumb game. Tabbing out, you switch back to Pesterchum.

CT: bruh
CT: this game is shit

AT: Woah, why are you saying that? It looks amazing on my end.
CT: theres nothing
CT: its just a command prompt
CT: and basically my desktop

AT: Oh, uh... I just have a girl sitting in a room at my end. She's on the computer.
CT: hold up
CT: is that girl in a purple shirt
CT: this is important i gotta know

AT: Yeah! How did you know?
CT: holy shit
CT: dat me
CT: you can mouse around right?
CT: try doing something

So it seems your game isn't as dull as you initially thought. Perhaps it was time we were the other person...?

Players can switch between active characters by typing in the command > Current character: Be New character. However, this command requires that you know some kind of name or title for the character you're switching to. Vague titles will get vague responses, and the most direct way to switch would be to give a first name.
