For the better part of the last century, the noble kingdom of Stormhold and it's vassal city-states labored to ensure a stable peace was kept along the Sunder River and the smaller tributaries that emptied into it. Unfortunately, the recent decade brought with it war and tragedy, the likes of which have begun to grind down the delicate balance of power.

Local enemies along the river grow emboldened by the mounting actions of greater powers at the periphery of Stormhold's influence. A long quiet isle to the South begins to reassert its influence, threatening to strangle their maritime trade with the mysterious moan of the dead. Beyond Stormhold's mountainous defenses in the East, common ground is expanded and pacts brokered in blood between the fearless gladiators of a desert empire and the unimaginable shapeless horrors lurking in the sands. Elsewhere, puissant enemies stealthily work to undermine Stormhold's network of defenses, sabotaging relationships and rending apart longstanding alliances unnoticed from the inside.

As these varied threats continue to mount around the kingdom's perimeter, it is with a sense of dread that the knights of Stormhold observe the fragile peace they fought and died for is beginning to fall apart. A new age has come fast upon them; an era of unrequited violence and the rewriting of long established territorial boundaries.

It is to this time that your characters enter the game, though assumedly they have been living here for quite a while. Though they may not be of great influence yet, they are destined in the stars for greatness. The fate of Stormhold itself, and the varied city-states surrounding it, will be tied to their legacy. For good or for ill...what legends will they tell of your deeds?
