Severus Snape noticed three sensations when he came to consciousness; first, the searing rise and fall ache in his throat, which felt akin to knives being drawn along his throat; second, as he rose to his knees he felt a piercing ache along his spine that spread from the top of his neck to the base of his spine, instinctively he leaned against the wall behind him. His hands recognized the stone walls around him. Realizing that he was at the Hogwarts train station. He gasped in pain as footfalls echoed closer and closer. The third and final thing was that Lily Evans stood before him for the first time in years.
Making an attempt to move forward was an extremely bad idea. As his arms rose, the pain traveled up to his arms, and his fingers trembled. The searing pain reverberating through his back also forced him to lower his arms quickly and stand lean against the pillar. Lily Potter stood before him, anger marred her face as she began to shout, “You scared him for TEN long years!” She reached forward and grabbed the front of his robes. Severus gasped in pain and tried to beg for mercy, but a mere rasp of a sound emerged. Lily’s face paled and she noticed the struggle he was going through. She released him roughly and Severus hissed in pain as his back was jarred, sending bolts of pain up and down his spine. He grimaced and leaned hos back onto the stone column behind him. He couldn't even stand if he wanted to, the results of Dark Lord’s frequent gifts for the man’s own personal amusement.
He made a vain effort to stand, and despite the fact that he used occlumency to mask the pain, it was ineffective. The white hot flashing pain from his back and the searing in his throat, caused him to wrinkle his forehead in immense pain. Lily stood before him and looked on sympathetically, “I can and will send you back to 1986 to save my son. I cannot send you any earlier than that. Do you agree to do this?” He pondered the option, yet the twisting pain in his back intensified and he seemed to pale even further, his weight now fully on the pillar as he leaned against it, and flexed his hands at the pain in his back. Lily smiled the next minute, “I will give you another surprise once you get there. However, for now I will tell you this. You may either pass over and spend the rest of eternity wallowing in your past mistakes or you can decide to fix your wrongs and make things right. I am unfortunately unable to do this for myself. Good luck, Sevie.” She intoned sweetly.
The cool grass poked the back of his neck, and he looked around. The cookie cutter houses was the first things he noticed, and he felt the lack of magic in the air. His back still ached, and he knew that talking was useless. Pulling out his wand, he struggled to conjure parchment and ink. Grimacing, he placed the note against the tree and hastily wrote a few commands. This was for the purpose of a quick and efficient exit, if he came upon the boy.
