Fandom Halo: Limits of Power - Rules

Kyero

Three Thousand Club
Rule #1 - If you wish to join this RP, you MUST inform me of your intent to join. If you just drop a profile in the "Character Sign-Up" page, I will delete it on principle.

Have the courtesy and the courage to inform me of your intent to join, or find another RP.

Rule #2 - No God-Modding, Power Playing, or Metagaming.

If you are unfamiliar with any of these terms, they mean the following:

God-Modding - Writing your character as invincible or otherwise untouchable. For instance if you are in conflict with another player controlled character, and you write that every attack they make misses and you land devastating blows in return which they "can't block", that's God-Modding. Dodging bullets is God-Modding. And writing that your character has abilities and special powers not in the RP's lore or rules is God-Modding.

Power Playing - Writing for another player controlled character with the specific purpose of making your character superior. The example given above in the God-Modding section about conflict with another player controlled character can also be considered power playing.

Whenever you write for another player controlled character, especially against their will or without their permission, that's Power Playing.

Metagaming - Writing your real life knowledge onto a character who you've already described in your profile as not having such knowledge. For example, when's the last time you heard of a pirate being a scholar and an archaeologist? I've seen it happen before in a character who never made mention of either subject. They were a "run-of-the-mill pirate" according to the profile, and yet they magically knew about scholarly pursuits and archaeology when they were portrayed in the RP. Another example is if you have a thief who's described as being good at lock picking and stealth, but then you write that they know 20 different styles of martial arts as well as having a deep knowledge of history, mathematics, physics, and more.

That's Metagaming.

Rule #3 - Respect your fellow Role-Players.

They are here to enjoy an experience just as much as you are, and they deserve to be treated with respect even if you happen to disagree with something they said or did either IC or OOC. If you have a problem with someone, bring your problem to my attention. As the GM, it's my job, not yours, to negotiate and resolve conflicts in this RP between players.

If anyone takes matters into their own hands with name calling, threats, or what have you, you will be reported to the moderators and potentially banned for such treatment of your fellow role-players.

Believe me when I say that, as I have several friends who are moderators and one such moderator is interested in joining this RP. So watch your language and behavior, or risk banishment from not only this RP, but this site.

Rule #4 - Traditional Halo Lore is present here such as the Flood, Covenant, SPARTANs, Forerunners, etc. But the timeline we're working with is a separate one from what is canon, so while names like Master Chief and such do exist, they won't be part of this RP.

Rule #5 - If you want to be a SPARTAN VI, you must ask my permission before crafting your profile. If I see you craft a SPARTAN VI without first having asked permission, you will not be allowed to portray one at all.

You may still portray a SPARTAN II, III, or IV, but not a SPARTAN VI if you ignore this rule. It's a one strike and you're out kind of deal here. No questions, no exceptions.

Rule #6 - If you have questions, ask me rather than try to answer it for yourself IC. If you are unsure about anything, ask me right away. As the GM, that's what I'm here for.
