Halloween Happenings

Azazellea

Friendly Neighborhood Fanthing
A dark house loomed over the barely lit streets. Much like in an old cemetery, an iron spire fence ringed the gloomy property. It was obviously abandoned and had been for several years now. The only thing that even appeared mildly new was the 'No Trespassing' sign that hung upon the gate. It was this very house, the Levi house, that the Tillany twins were currently waiting in front of. Knowing them, they could only be finding a new way to get into trouble.

Tyler leaned against the fence, a bored look on his face. He wore blue jeans and an orange t-shirt with the phrase 'This is STILL my Halloween Costume' written across it in bold, black letters. Giving the house another once over, a sigh passed his lips as his blue eyes rolled skyward. "I think they screwed us, Sky-bird." He grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. "To think I could be out there getting candy."

He glanced over as he heard Sky chuckle. "Like you could get any candy with a cheap costume like that." She giggled. She was wearing a black crop top with a hood the fell from the back. Unattached, almost sheer purple sleeves fell down her arms and fanned out at the wrist. She wore a knee length skirt with a sheer purple sash attatched to the side along with knee high black heeled boots. The final piece was a black crescent moon drawn around her exposed belly button.

An affronted expression passed over his face as he glanced down at his shirt. "Like yours is any better. What are you supposed to be anyways?" These words earned him an exasperated sigh in response.

"My D&D character. I think I did a pretty good job putting it together. I'm missing the white hair though." She added with a slight pout. "Besides, it's still better than the same damn shirt you wear every year."

Before he could argue his point, a chuckle was heard from behind them. "She's got you there, Tyler." Carvson said as he approached the duo, a grin spread across his face. It appeared as if he had taken the more casual route, much like Tyler. He merely wore his football uniform from school.

Sky sent a hiss at Carvson as she crossed her arms over her chest. It was at this moment that Carrilyn emerged from behind her brother. She had on her cheerleading uniform, blonde hair pulled into pigtails. A laugh escaped Sky's lips at the sight. "Got a little lazy, huh Carri?" She said, rolling her blue eyes.

"Watch it, gothic freak, or the bet's off!" She huffed, green eyes glaring daggers at the laughing teen.

"So." Tyler started, taking a step towards the Maverick twins. "Stay in the Levi house until midnight and you cough up the dough. Fifty bucks a piece, if I'm correct?" He raised an eyebrow.

Eyes flicking between Sky and Tyler, Carvson nodded. "That's the plan. You know, if you don't chicken out, that is." He sneered, mainly at Tyler.

His eyes narrowed in response to the challenge. He didn't like being called out like that, especially by a Maverick. "Well then, show us the greens, jock, and we'll be on our merry way." Tyler responded irritably. It took a moment, but both Carrilyn and Carvson flashed them the money. A grin spread across his face. "See you dunder heads at midnight."

Leaving the Maverick twins behind, Tyler and Sky ducked through the gates. "It's eight thirty now." Tyler said, pressing a button on his watch. An alarm was now set for midnight. They stood for a minute, eyeing the worn, wooden doors warily. Hearing Carvson chuckling from the sidewalk, Tyler growled under his breath as he pushed forward through the doors.

Inside the house was completely dark after Tyler had shut the door behind them. After a moment of blind fumbling, Sky finally fished a flashlight out of her bag. Clicking it on, the beam of light illuminated what appeared to be a living room filled with dusty furniture, cobwebs, and spiders.

Sky sighed, settling herself down on the tattered couch. "So, what are we supposed to do for three and a half hours?" She mumbled, absently wishing that she had the forethought to bring her handheld gaming system.

"How about we check out the basement?" Tyler suggested, plopping himself down in a chair that was in equal disrepair as the couch.

Raising a delicate eyebrow, she shined her flashlight on her wildly grinning brother. "Why the basement?" As soon as the question passed her lips, she knew the answer. "It's because of the witch craft rumors, isn't it?" She sighed. Her brother looked at her with big eyes. She managed to resist for only a few moments. "Fine..."

Tyler shot out of the chair, his grin growing. "Yes! Thank you, Sky!" He cheered, grabbing a hold of his sister's wrist and dragging her through a nearby doorway. This led them into the kitchen. Blue eyes scanned the room before another doorway was found. As the door was flung open, they came upon a staircase leading down.

Together they descended the stairs, their jaws dropping as they spotted the basement. The cement walls and floor were covered in strange symbols in, what they hoped, was red paint. "Looks like the rumors were true." Sky said softly, standing at the base of the stairs as her brother darted about the room inspecting things.

His hand lightly brushed over a series of words written on the opposite wall. "Tenebras vocet te." He read, tilting his head to the side as he examined the writing. "I wonder what it-"

He never got to finish his sentence as the floor lit up, shining an eerie crimson. A figure rose out of the floor
