Half-Castes and Essence 3+

I've read the Players Guide concerning godbloods, and I'm really interested in what happens when Half-Castes go beyond Essence 3.  If I understand correctly, the Half-Castes of Terrestrial Exalted parent/s Exalts into a Dragon-Blooded.

My question is, what happens to a Half-Caste of Celestial Exalted parentage when his/her Essence exceeds 3?  Do they:

1)  simply go up to 4?

2)  have a much higher chance of attracting an Essence Shard of their parent's type? (seeing as how IIRC the Half-Castes of Terrestrial Exalted go ahead and Exalt)

3)  shed their mortality with their higher and lower souls merging with the Essence that they possess to become a new Essence Shard of their parent's type?

If it's the last, I can see the Maidens actually not allowing it to happen in the case of the Sidereals.  As for the rest though, is there a cannonical answer for this that I have missed somewhere?  If not, please let me have your opinions, but if they are your opinions/ideas please state so, so we all know that they are not canon.  Page refs would be super helpful as well.  Thanks everyone!

The dragonblooded half-castes basically get another shot at exalting as a DB... basically they roll again.

Celestial exalted... basically... nothing apparantly happens. But supposedly, they get letters of recommendation of exaltation to their parent's patrons.

They don't usually exalt... but they have ended up as gods... which implies that half-castes -can- end up as gods if they don't exalt after that 4th dot of essence kicking in... eventually.

I would say as a spirit that serves Sol Invictis, or Luna or one of the 5 Maidens.

At essence 4, that new spirit is quite potent, and they can go up.

At Essence 3 they start shopping around for a patron God who will help them ascend into the Celestial Bureacracy, or become a flunky for some Spirit who wants a new servant, unfettered by the contrainst of the Mandate of Heaven.

They don't get that 4th point by normal play. They have to be invested, from what I understand of the rules.  Which means that a lot of older God-Bloods are looking for ways get favor from something if they want to advance.

Half-Castes never get that fourth point of Essence; the Endowment only allows Dragon-Touched to re-test for the Second Breath, and the Celestial Half-Castes get a nice letter in their Exaltation-potential file.

Canonically, Half-Castes can not become gods; only god-blooded can become gods and elementals after receiving the fourth point of Essence.

Just to be complete, Abyssal Half-Castes and changelings can't get the essence-boost Endowment at all; Ghost-Bloods die and become ghosts with the fourth point of Essence.

I stand corrected. Teach me to skim text.

I missed the Demon-Blooded in my summary earlier; they turn into First Circle demons after getting that fourth point of Essence.

Really? Then why are you asking these questions? The PG already answers all of them.
Because I lack a photographic memory.  I cannot possibly remember everything that I have ever read.  The fact that the book has no index didn't help much either.

Thanks to everyone that submitted the info I was looking for.  I appreciate you all taking the time to look into my question and posting.

I think it was a little snarky, maybe.

Rude would have been:

Look it up then, you fucking lame ass pussy!

Yeah, snarky was the effect I was aiming for. I thought you were implying you'd only just read it, and still had those questions.

Rude... well, I try not to be rude. Rude recalls the days of the Old Compendium, and the flames therein.

Can one of you give me some more info on Hafe Caste the players Guide is on my list to get after the Fair Folk and Ahtoconians and replacing my copy of Creatures of the Wlyd for the second time

There are a lot of different rules for Half-Castes, and if they're going to be player characters you need the PG. But if you want to use them as ST characters:

They are the children of Exalts with an Essence of 4 or more. Create them as heroic mortals, but they get more bonus points than normal heroic mortals (depending how poerful their parents are), and one more Attribute point in each of their secondary and tertiary categories.

They have a number of special abilities that they can buy to allow them to heal and resist poison and disease as an Exalt, live for over a century, use Essence, attune to artifacts, manses, and so on. Most Half-Castes have only a few of these powers.

They can learn the charms of their parents' type but it takes a lot of XP to do so (if parents are different sorts of Exalt, they can learn the charms of their highest-Essence parent; if parents have same Essence, their mother takes precedence). They cannot learn persistent defense charms or charms that give perfect effects. They cannot have an Essence above 3.

Some Half-Caste show caste marks on their chests, over their hearts. Some can sense when they are in the presence of Exalts of the same type as their parent. Half-Castes can only pass a fraction of their power on to their children; no dynasty of Half-Castes lasts more than three generations.
