Shiratorizawa Academy is home to greatness. No matter the discipline, whether it be academics, sports, or other pursuits, students are expected to conduct themselves with excellence. But to Kumori Shikabane, Hibiki Ootake, Eita Semi, and Satori Tendou, it's their time to find themselves - and just maybe, a time to find someone special.

Hibiki Ootake

Name;; Hibiki Ootake
Gender;; female
Age;; 16
School;; Shiratorizawa Academy
-------
Introduction Quiet and shy, Hibiki Ootake can’t seem to put herself out there. Her introverted nature can make her seem stiff or even stuck-up, but if someone would just push past that exterior, they’d see how sweet she can really be!

Height;; 5’4
Build;; soft/slightly chubby
Complexion;; creamy/pale
Hair;; long, brown, wavy
Eye color;; light brown
Distinguishing traits;; a small scar on her knee from when she fell off her bike as a child.
Fashion;; soft, cutesy things. pastel colors.

Personality --
shy + friendly + awkward + kind
--

Hibiki is not an extrovert, full stop. After moving around so much when she was younger, on top of being homeschooled, she just doesn’t know how to act around people. It gives her so much anxiety that she’d rather just avoid socializing altogether. She tenses up around strangers, and hates it when she is the center of attention - and this has given the perception that she’s a stuck-up, haughty teenage princess, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Adults tend to praise her timidity and people-pleasing as being a good student, but Hibiki just wishes she could be allowed to just…relax, and be herself, without all the academic pressure.
Backstory --
"I-I don't really do people..."
--

Hibiki grew up moving around a lot due to her father’s job. As such, her parents decided to homeschool her from about 3rd grade on through middle school. Hibiki begged her parents to let her at least experience high school, and they finally relented.

Hibiki passed Shiratorizawa’s entrance exam by the skin of her teeth - and now she feels like she’s been thrown into the deep end of a swimming pool. High school is so different than she expected! Studying and tests and assignments…she knows how to do that. Making friends and interacting with peers?

…Hibiki feels like throwing up just thinking about it.

Kumori Shikabane

Name;; Kumori Shikabane
Gender;; female
Age;; 16
School;; Shiratorizawa Academy
-------
Introduction Maybe it's her height or maybe it's the fashion she usually wears, but Kumori has gotten used to everyone's stares. She doesn't mind, maintaining an outgoing and friendly demeanor that seems to draw people in.

Height;; 5'10
Build;; curvy
Complexion;; very pale
Hair;; long, straight, black
Eye color;; dark brown, almost black
Distinguishing traits;; her hair often sports dyed streaks in it
Fashion;; dark colors, gothic, bold

Personality --
confident + ougoing + charismatic + bold
--

Despite the fact she looks intimidating--whether it be her height, her aura, or her resting expression--Kumori is very sweet! She is a decently outgoing person who loves social events. Even if she likes to go to things others are at, she doesn’t give a fuck what others think and doesn't plan to change herself for them either. She’s just happy to be herself--Even if it means she’s the only one doing a weird dance at school parties and sticks out. Because of this, she can be hard to digest and is damn near impossible to push around.

Kumori's philosophy ties into her personality as well, which is that she's happy to be the one making herself stick out if it inspires in others the confidence to do the same thing and be their authentic selves.

Backstory --
"Life's too short to live by other people's standards!"
--

Even though she does a lot of what internet bros would define nowadays as fatherless, Kumori in fact has a father. And a mother. Her parents met at a goth club back in the day while her dad was in America on business. Her mother moved to Japan, and they had Kumori! While her parents don’t do much about it nowadays, it’s how Kumori was introduced to the subculture. Her parents are very supportive of her, and think it’s cool their daughter is doing the same stuff they used to do! That’s why Kumori is so confident about what she does, and advocates for everyone to do what makes them happy as long as it doesn’t harm anyone. Kumori also has a somewhat decent following on social media, where she posts her outfits, dances, and about older goth subculture versus today’s!

Shiratorizawa was never the school she thought she'd go to, she never had the grades or athletic skill, but when her father's new job brought their family close to the school, Kumori put her nose to the grindstone. Her parents were always so supportive, the least she could do was make their life easier--and she did, passing the entrance exam with flying colors! While she's adjusted to life at the school well for the most part, she's still navigating the big culture of volleyball.

Hibiki Ootake -
Hibiki had forgotten her favorite pen.

This wasn't usually such a big deal. She wasn't a baby, and she could handle things like a poised young woman should be able to. She had her entire pencil pouch with her - a cute pink one with little white cat faces on it - she could easily just grab one of the dozens of pens inside of it.

Except it wasn't just about the pen. It was about the fact that in the past, when she was homeschooled, she could've just gotten up from her desk, walked over to her bookshelf, and grabbed it. But she wasn't homeschooled anymore. Instead of her own dark wooden desk with its comfy chair and soft lamplight, she was in a classroom with more than a dozen other teens, and she couldn't just get up from her desk - not to mention she was about a ten minute walk from home. Not exactly a quick trip.

All that to say - it wasn't about the pen, but about her distance from her home and place of safety.

But that was fine! It was fine...she was fine. She was sitting toward the back of the classroom, anyway - so no one was really noticing her moment of panic. Well, except for maybe the really pale girl sitting to her left, with the black hair and dyed streaks. But she hadn't looked over yet, so...Hibiki was fine. Probably.

...why was the teacher looking at her? Oh, crap, she'd missed the question! No no no...!

"U-Um..." Hibiki swallowed thickly, her mind going blank. What had even been the question?!

Kumori Shikabane -
Today was a normal day for Kumori. A little too normal, in fact, bordering on boring. There wasn't anything interesting for her to interact with on social media, there wasn't any special food being served in the cafeteria, and not even a pop quiz was happening that day. It's not like school was supposed to be exciting, and she understood that, but come on. Kumori got to her next class on time, hoping that this class period would be just a little more exciting.

So far, it didn't seem like that hope would come true, the teacher going through formulas and numbers. It made sense to Kumori, something she had studied intensely before to get into the school. She still paid attention, of course, so she didn't notice the person next to her panicking. Well, until the teacher called on them, and they seemed to freeze up, having not heard when the teacher called over to her. The poor thing looked like a deer in headlights, and Kumori's nature wouldn't let her just let this person sit by and embarrass themselves. Not in the slightest. The goth girl peered down at her own notes, before leaning slightly in her seat, towards the nervous girl, already having covered her own mouth with a hand so the teacher wouldn't see her mouth move.

"Pssst," Kumori whispered, eyes flicking over to Hibiki to make sure she had heard before continuing. "X is equal to 27.3."

Thankfully the teacher seemed none the wiser about Kumori feeding Hibiki the answer, waiting slightly less than patiently for the girl to answer her. Shiratorizawa was a top school, after all, which meant anyone in attendance of the academy was expected to be the best of the best--but at the very least, she understood that some students were shy.

Hibiki Ootake -
Hibiki had just resigned herself to looking like a complete idiot when she heard a soft voice from beside her. The black-haired girl was looking at her intently, hissing some numbers.

It only took a split second for Hibiki to realize the girl was trying to help her. She looked back up at the teacher, who's expression was slowly but surely morphing into one of impatience.

"U-Uh...X i-is equal to 27.3...?" Her voice wavered a little on the answer, her shoulders rising toward her ears. She was uncomfortable aware of the class' eyes on her, and of the sound of her heart pounding in her ears.

"That is correct," the teacher said, her face softening into a smile of approval. "Good job, Ms. Ootake." With that, she turned back to her board, continuing to explain the problem and how Hibiki must've gotten her answer. Honestly, Hibiki heard none of it, too busy trying not to melt into a puddle. She let out a quiet breath, glancing over at the dark-haired girl that had saved her sorry behind.

The class was over within the next few minutes. As students began to pack up, Hibiki turned in her seat to the girl next to her. "Um, th-thanks for that, by the way," she murmured gratefully, sending a small smile her way. "I swear, I'm not usually so spacey."
