Basics
Name: Gwenivere Valentine
Age: Date of Birth 02/14/2450, current year 3000
Race: Transhuman
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: World builder, civilization leader, friend
- Appearance
Height: 1.8 meters
Weight: 70 kilograms
Hair: White as snow and glowing like a full moon
Eyes: Pure silver
Body: Slender, seemingly frail
Attire: A gray hood and cloak keeps in the gentle light that naturally radiates from her body.
Standing at about six feet tall and radiant with otherworldly light, Gwenivere can seem a little imposing at first. But no sooner do you meet her than the warmth of her hands folds into yours to reassure you that you stand with someone who loves you. Her glowing platinum locks dance with her silver eyes and laugh together when, in a moment of awe, you realize you're already the best of friends.
Those who would harm her friends, however, find no such warmth in her gaze. When provoked to action, her judgment is swift and final. Nigh on half a millennium of battle with the forces of evil has honed her mind to a fine edge, and fools are they who dare to touch the ones beneath her wings.
- Personality
Gwenivere is driven by a powerful belief that all of humanity is condemned to burn for eternity in the afterlife for its evils. The very thought, just remembering every day that her fellow humans will someday endure unimaginable suffering, drives her to seek humanity's redemption. Villains are not villains in her eyes, but lost cubs driving ever closer to a doom they never saw coming. Each and every individual she meets is a precious life, and losing even one of them grieves her soul.
- History
Gwen was born into the prestigious House of Valentine on February 2, year 2450 of the Current Era. As their Promise Child and star learner, she became leader of the High Council at the tender age of twelve for her raw brilliance. However, she was also an impetuous brat and insensitive to the needs of others, so while she led many successful campaigns against the Void Swarm for years, she hardly recognized the brewing unrest behind the lines. The six other nobles on the Council grew increasingly uncomfortable with her daring maneuvers, attention-grabbing exploits, and abrasive leadership, until they at last united against her when she tried to remove one of them from his position and booted her from the Council entirely.
The realization that some people did not, in fact, appreciate her abilities hit her hard, made even harder by her long fall from power. One would think that her fall into poverty would have knocked some sense into her, but like most young people her age, she didn't put two and two together. Certainly not at first. But one kindly old lady had compassion on her and took her in, flaws and all. She struggled to teach the feisty young lady as best she knew how, and through the hardships they suffered together in their little corner of the world, Gwen came to love that old woman.
Then, in the waking hours of her twentieth birthday, Gwen had a vision. She never told anyone what she saw, but whatever it was changed her outlook completely. The person who rolled out of bed that morning was not the same person who went to sleep in it the night before. Through that vision, she came to believe that the world was doomed, and that it needed her help. So she said her goodbyes, packed up her few belongings, and left the house, never to return.
- Magic/Spells
Telepathy, and mind control in particular, is Gwenivere's only magical power. It works by separating the soul from the body and relocating it, a feat only possible with enough space to rest the unconscious body, enough bodily energy to sustain it, and a tremendous level of focus. Mind control is particularly difficult and dangerous, since it involves relocating one's soul into another person's mind while maintaining its identity, made even harder by the fact that both souls are present simultaneously and therefore influence each other.
Telepathy is easier, as the relocated soul need not invade the foreign mind, but rather touch it in order to transfer thoughts and ideas. It still renders the original body unconscious, but at least it isn't dangerous.
- Equipment
Gwen possesses a pair of heavenly swords that she can summon and disperse at will. They vanish the moment they leave her hands, however, which prevents disarmament.
Her gray cloak & hood are surprisingly durable, able to withstand extreme weather conditions on both ends of the spectrum and easily shrug off the majority of sharp edges and speeding projectiles. It still won't stop a deliberate attack with a deadly weapon, but it's better than nothing in a fight.
- Skills
Gwen is a competent swordfighter and telepath, but her true strength lies in her tender hand, with which she touches the hearts and minds of anyone with enough courage to draw close to her. Don't mistake her kindness for naivete, though; she is a clever strategist and is known to devise complex plans that come to fruition centuries later.
Her skills with healing are second to none; using a combination of telepathic and herbal remedies, she is legendary for her ability to bring patients with life-threatening conditions back from the brink.
Gwen is self-trained in a variety of other mundane life skills, including cooking, cleaning, bookkeeping, and making light conversation.
