Fandom Gundam: War in Heaven

Evelyn gripped Saul's shoulder hard, stopping him from walking away. "How nice of you to offer me a tour of the Quintessence! That would give us plenty of time to catch up." She said, a wicked grin on her face. She dragged him on-board with ease, not loosening her grip until the airlock sealed behind them.

He grin dropped. "Listen, I'm going to make this quick and frank." She turned to him. "I don't care what you and your group are doing, even if it makes Father-Especially if it makes Father worry. Just stay out of my way, and don't put anyone here in the line of fire." She said with quiet intensity, her facade of the princess dropping slightly. She cracked her neck and smiled again. "Because if you do, you know what'll happen." She said, walking away from him down the corridor. She stopped as she heard the orders from her new captain. She started towards the Mobile Suit deck.

"Thanks, but I don't need a tour, I just remembered I had access to the schematics, thanks to Father." She half waved as turned the corner.

--

She arrived as they loaded in Emma, her Geara Zulu. Evelyn smirked and leaned against the wall as the other pilots filed in.

It was true that Diehard and his crew were holding together quite well. Better than that, actually, which is why he managed to keep a good eye on the situation. But his orders to Ikari weren't meant to ensure the safety of his own men, rather, it was for her sake. That she'd just bolt to switch mobile suits in the middle of a pitched battle that would likely be over before she managed to re-deploy, piloting a GM held together with duct tape and with no confirmed backup was idiotically suicidal, and while he was pleasantly surprised with her skills, they both knew that if she'd survived it had been mostly through sheer dumb luck.

Still, the battle was all but over it would seem. With one Gelgoog team down before they reached the hangar by him and his boys and the other being handled by the flyers and the stolen quadwing machine, all that was left were the less coherent and disorganized forces, whose only card at this point seemed to be numerical superiority. More rounds than anyone would care to count bounced off the GM Guard Custom's gigantic shield and the Barrage's nigh impervious armor, a testament to the woefully inadequate firepower oft-given to the regular foot soldier in this age of ever-progressing mobile suit technology.

Shannon Base's crew, on the other hand, didn't have that problem and rained down hellfire upon the swarming attackers, many of which displayed only the barest rudimentary knowledge of things such as "evasive maneuvers" and "cover". Even with spare magazines, it didn't take long for the penal corps to run out of cannon shells with which to blast the enemies apart with, so they had now moved closer to the front lines, wielding powerful beam rifles of their own, still in formation to provide supressive fire where needed. The arrival of the Flints seemed entirely unnecessary, but one never knew what the opponent might pull.

"Scratch that, Eagle, this is JOTUN Instructor callsign Diehard. Lieutenant Romano has decided to step away to get to her own Mobile Suit while the battle's all but over now that you're here. Move to catch the attackers from the rear and we can make sure they have nowhere to go when they decide they don't want to keep the party up". Slowly, carefully, always keeping an eye on the base and making sure the GM Ground Types were there to guard it, Leo and his marines were putting the pressure on the horde of enemies, advancing ever so slightly, shifting their killzone further away from the base.

Unless they had someone competent running the show, and he had no reason to believe that was the case, the attackers would soon find themselves staring at the outside walls without realizing how that had happened or how their charge had turned into them fighting to keep position near their target.

The last two standing Gelgoog assaulters keep attacking, rashly and fervently, suicidally some may realize, the Kshatriya gets closed in on and Athena deploys the beam-swords for her main arm;s hands as the Gelgoogs utilize their own beam-swords , the Kshatriya Novum blocks them , its mono-eye scanning each, suddenly its secondary arms deploy from under its armor and quickly slice a leg off each one, causing the enemy Mobilesuits to topple over as the heavy assault unit impales each with two beam swords and takes of before both explode. "Main threat neutralized, Kshatriya Novum acquiring new targets, prosecution forthcoming." She says as she flies off, sheathing the beamswords, the units mono-eye locking onto a group of retreating Geara Doga's, painted in desert like coloring.

Eritreus had seen it all while fighting off two enemy Hizak's and boosted his Gustav karl into cover on the Flank of the Geara Doga's. "Glaive One to all Glaive team Units, sweep and clear, Glaive six, GLaive one has your back, Glaives two and three provide air cover to the local team, back them up!" The two Rezel Type-E's fly overhead, loosing a beam barrage at the enemy confronting the Shannon base team. "YEEEEEEHAW!" Belows tex as he smacks the legs out from under a Dom with two well placed shots. "Roget that sir, commencing run!" Says Alice as she fires multiple shots, blowing holes in the hand held shields of three enemy units.

Eritreus lines up a shot and a loud thump comes from theg renade launcher attached to his units machine-gun, the grenade soars above the group of Geara Doga's and detonates, launching multiple titanium spikes raining down on them, causing only minimal damage to the armor of the units but the joints and other areas with less armor have their performance reduced significantly, the Enemy Geara Doga;s notice his position, two slowly turning to fire their assault rifles at the Gustav Karl but before they can beam weapons fire rains on them, shredding them to pieces, causing explosions and pieces of them to go flying in multiple directions as the funnels that fired return to the Kshatriya Novum, its chest canons open up on the last standing Geara Doga, disintegrating large parts of the Mobilesuit, the wreck falling over, electric shorts happening and its reactor detonating.

As the Quintessence pulled out of the colony they received another transmission but it was a one way transmission likely being sent to the HQ but someo from HQ must have patched in the Quintessence. "We managed to pull through so do not send reinforcements. I repeat do not send reinforcements." Said a male admiral on the screen who looked very stressed. "I told you this before that the pirates have become too much of a problem to let sit, so I wish to requests that a sizeable force be put together to exterminate the pirate or regularly transporting TD Blankets may not be possible. Admiral Tarak out." The transmission then switched to someone from HQ. "Quintesence, your new orders are to head to Lagrange 2 where your fleet is being retrofitted with GN Drives. They should be done and stocked by the time you get there." the operator said before cutting out.

Captain Viola then issued new orders. "Set course for Lagrange 2 and order out pilot's off standby sine we're not going into battle." The orders were played over the ships loud speaker so everyone could hear them. Akito hearing the new orders decided to go take a look at the two new suits that were loaded onto the ship. As the ship crossed into space it became a zero gravity zone again so Akito simply kicked off from the upper platform and floated over to what seemed to be a modified Geara Doga. Akito always found modified mass produced suits kind of lame for an ace pilot and the lack of a GN Drive slot told him this was for thé new girl. He remembered sensing a newtype pressure from her so the fact she's a newtype with a modified mass produced type suit, not even a limited production or mass produced suit made for newtypes was a let down. But maybe she could have grown attached to it or maybe she wasn't good enough. Only time will tell.

The Quintessence. Given its size and unique design, there was no doubt that this was the ship for the job. The four large thrusters roared to life as the Woundwort-Rah sped quickly moved into the ship's sensor range. The young man opened up an automated status report as he estimated that he'd make physical contact with the ship in about a minute.

Wrapped in a black shroud, the JOTUN prototype was completely unrecognizable. The IFF had been scrambled and as far as anyone was considered the Goddess was a simple mercenary. He initiated a contact link with the battleship once he had managed to synchronize his mobile suit's speed with the vessel.

"Callsign: Goddess. Reporting for the job. Payment can be negotiated once this is over." He spoke, calm and measured as he glanced to panels from which armaments could deploy. He failed to notice that his old test suit's biometric scanners were being reactivated and connecting to the Woundwort-Rah's main systems...

(Ok,So I'm busy with stuff in the real world but in the interest of keeping things moving since I'm not sure if I'll be on much if at all through this next week I'm gonna do a jump ahead and try and get us in position so that you guys can actually do stuff.

The Earth forces won their battle and are proceeding with their objective of attacking the colonial strike force gathered at lagrange 2. the Africa team was impressive in combat so JOTUN has made a point of reassigning/pressganging them into the strike force. Zerohex and ZaWarudo can either have their forces assigned to the Arcadia, Spectre's domain, or create new ships. The strike force has recently arrived in the sector and is lying in wait to attack.

The colonial forces have also only recently arrived and are meeting/ on the way to meet with their new fleet at a colony turned fortress within the cluster. Whoever posts first gets to name it. As of now it's assumed that no one has picked up the enemy fleet, so for now they're unaware.

Lagrange 2 itself is a cluttered warzone that's been the sight of numerous battles. Most of the colonies in the area have been bombed into disuse and ghost ships and spare parts float aimlessly after so many battles and failed attempts by the Earth forces to take the damn place. So in short there is a lot of cover.

You guys can fill in whatever you need to, but don't go crazy. Remember that no matter how tough your suit is or how sound your tactics are, shit still happens, you still take damage and sometimes people get hurt. It is a war after all. But more importantly be nice to each other, don't kill off named characters unless the other person has given you the ok, don't auto damage, etc.

I'll see you guys in a week.)

The wreck of Colony New Babylon

Spaceport area opposing Lagrange 2 colonial fortress station, hidden among the debris

Modified Dogosse-Giar Class Stealth Assault Carrier Spectres Domain

The remaining Glaive Team's four Mobilesuits had all suffered some damage in Africa but all that was nearly gone now, the Ship's excellent techs and engineers having worked tirelessly in 3 rotations of 8 hours each to fix them up and recalibrate everything so they could be ready for this next mission, yet another damn assault on Lagrange 2's fortress, codenamed Hesperia. The modified colony had help up against numerous assaults from the Earth Forces and stood as a testament, if for nothing else, of the damn colonist's stubborn streak.

Eritreus and his team are watching the techs put the finishing touches on the Kshatriya Novum`s repairs, Tex and Alice could see that codename Athena was definitely hiding pain at having had her unit damaged, they could guess that the young woman wasn't very used to it, getting her unit damaged. Eritreus gently puts a hand on her shoulder, the young woman blushing a bit and leaning against him, she really showed any kind of human emotion when he was around, then again, Eritreus had a secret he shared with her and was the reason why she was assigned to the Glaives in the first place.

The Ships captain comes onto the catwalk, looking to them as he walks over."We are arriving now, The final mission briefings should start soon, our stealth systems seem to be working nicely, none of the colonial patrols have spotted the ship. Briefings are to commence a 0900hours." Eritreus nods."Yes sir, thank you sir!" The captain smiles."Well lets see who else was sent over and ill tel you what ship we will all meet up on fo the briefings. Carry on." He turns, walking away, leaving them to their things.

"Admiral we have picked up a lone mobile suit." One of the operators reported. Viola responded quickly. "Open the Valiant but do not aim it or fire until the suit takes agressive action. Bring up a visual on the suit." One of the monitors showed the rail cannon coming from the left side of the ship. Another screen showed the suit, it wasn't identifiable and but rather then attack it matched speed and opened up communications. Viola listened to it's words and thought for a moment then said "I do not recognize any request for assistance from a mercenary. I am sorry but I can't permit you aboard you'll have to explain."

@GasMaskie(just make a post pre ts about his explanation because post ts he is let aboard unless you have other plans)

--------------------------------------

Viola after getting to the bottom of the situation would let the merc dock aboard the Quintessence. Now they were pulling into the colonial fortress New Constantinople after a safe journey to the Lagrange 1 thanks to how GN Particles protect hem from radar, sensors, and disable communications of thing that come within visual range of the ship. Akito was on the Bridge looking at all the destroyed colonies, debris, and ghost ships. It reminded him of what the colony near the Belt looked like after the incident. But these thoughts vanished from as soon as his eyes fell upon the modified colony that has held out against the efforts of the Earth Forces, New Rome.

The Bridge came alive with reports from the Operators, communications from the Base, Viola issuing orders, and other things. Eventually the ship would gain passage into the heavily guarded colonial fortress and makes it's way to dock with it's freshly refitted fleet of four other Baikal class ships. The ship was then inspected internally by MP as part of normal procedures, but the crew went about their normal actions and such. Akito sat at one of the window looking at all the ships seeing varying classes of mobile suit carriers, assault ships, heavy assault carriers, supply ships, dreadnoughts, and other kinds of warships making their way to their fleets and positions. He saw a few classes of ships slotted with GN Drive Tau so that must mean they were building them here as well as in Lagrange 1.

Akito watched a few classes of mobile suits slotted with GN Drive Tau but was more suprised to see Bucues and Lagones being loaded onto some ships. He saw the regular Ginn periodically but also GINN variants like the Ginn High Warrior. Akito almost though of this as a convention but knew this was a force likely meant for a large invasion of Earth either now of in the future. But this wasn't just an invasion force not even an occupation force, it was a for meant to conquer.

"...The blonde man, looks somewhat girly. They bought my services on Lagrange 2 while you were docked. Even if you don't let me aboard I will take action and demand proper compensation." Fenn replied back as he stretched out his fingers. He wasn't particularly interested in making comrades or bonds with gun runners. Regardless, after a few seconds of waiting the ship's hangar doors opened up and the Goddess soon came in.

---

Throughout the entire ride, Fenn remained in the cockpit. He occasionally nibbled on some of the animal crackers he had stocked up on and scared off any curious technicians by directing the seemingly inactive mobile suit's gaze towards them. The Haro remained connected to the Woundwort-Rah's systems and the enigmatic LACIE ran silent in the background.

The pilot said a silent prayer and retrieved a small disc from a compartment under his seat as he prepared for the likely engagement that would soon follow these solitary hours of solace.

(@thekinginyellow if you don't mind I'd rather have the Africa team assigned elsewhere. I'm just not big on running multiple characters, I always feel like they wind up kiddy pool shallow or I spend too much time characterizing them every post. We can say they were put into service but separated from Leo because paranoia about him having an efficient strike team under his command. As for the admiral Leo punched in the face, who he is and whether he actually shows up or remains a little detail is entirely up to you)

Leo lay in his recently assigned bunk on board the Arcadia, holding his old badge at arm's length. "JOTUN Mobile Suit Instructor Corps". The best of the best, the people in charge of making sure the elite taskforce was up to par. What a load of bull. Respectable people were becoming a rarity and officers assigned for political reasons, who cared about little but their own shred of power, were the order of the day. And even when he'd been proud to be an instructor, people always died, no matter how well you trained them. Being assigned to Shannon Base had almost been a relief, and it felt weird being back in an actual Jotun ship after everything that'd happened.

Still, duty called and here he was, surrounded by people likely trained by those he'd trained himself and who either didn't recognize him or spoke about him in hushed whispers, rumors of insubordination and even outright desertion going about. If anyone had anything positive to say about him, he hadn't heard it yet. It would've been a lie to say he wasn't a wee bit bitter about it, but the memory of punching that smug shit admiral in the face and visibly knocking a tooth right off the incompetent fascist's mouth was still quite worth the trouble. Since he hadn't been filled in on the operation details, he idly wondered whether they'd cross paths again.

Eagle sat down next to the medical bed his old friend Halvey was laying in. He had his fingers interlocked, covering his mouth as he put his elbows on the edge of the bed. "I didn't come all this way to see you like this, Hal. You aren't gonna let this really stop you, are you? Come on, wake up..." He mumbled softly. "Hey, remember the time you, Eddie, and I finally got deployed as a squad? Our first mission, Eddie's suit malfunctioned, and he was a bloody sitting duck. Didn't stop him from barking orders at us, even with all those shots flying at him. Almost got himself killed doing that instead of asking for help. Bloody idiot." He half smiled, only for a moment though. His smile dropped and he gripped his friend's arm. "God dammit, Hal, I can't lose you too. You better wake up, and soon." He said, standing up, shaking slightly. "We've both lost too many friends in this fucking war."

---------------------------------------------------

Evelyn rolled her shoulders back and cracked her neck as the crew member snarled at her.

"You think you're hot shit 'cause your daddy's rich?"

She smirked. "No. I know I'm hot shit 'cause my daddy's rich and I could beat the living shit out of you." She said, crossing her arms.

"Wanna test that, Princes-" A sudden pair of knuckles to his throat interrupted him and made him cough.

"Question is, do you?" She asked, cracking her knuckles. The man shook his head. "Good." She walked out of the lounge and up to the bridge.

--

Evelyn stopped behind Akito. "Great suits they're building, but I'd prefer Emma to those any day. Nothing beats the feel of piloting a Zulu, not having to rely on any special equipment." She leaned next to the window.

Officers Lounge

0815 Zulu

Eritreus is sitting in one of the booths, reading up on the latest Intel on enemy movements prior to the operation, he couldn,t believe that all these ships and Mobilesuits were being made, powered by some new tech that seemed to give the potential for limitless power. That enemy Gundam certainly seemed to be unstoppable, he was... afraid, for the first time he truly feared he wouldn't make it and, more importantly, she wouldn't. "Damnit Jesse-Ann... why did you let them turn you into a weapon..." He says softly, looking at the young woman in the picture, the same young woman who at that moment walks into the lounge, codename Athena, Mithril's resident augmented newtype, she was one before and got augmented after a mission, wanting to be the best she could be, sadly, it wiped nearly everything of who she was away. Athena was not Jesse-Ann and, the doctors said, never would be, his little sister was gone. They are of different fathers, hence the family name difference bu they share the same mother who died when the colonists dropped one on earth.

He quickly puts it back as Athena walks over and sits down near him."Reports on what's going on?" She asks, looking at his data-pad. He nods."Yeah, it is, nothing much really, other than alot of speculation about those new units with the strange glow, that power source just freaks me out." She nods softly."It seems to affect us too...newtypes and cyber-newtypes it is definitely not something to overlook out there." She says as the waiter comes over, she asks for a coffee, black and a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on an english muffin style bun. The waiter notes it down and smiles."Some hash-brown potatoes with that too?" Athena nods with a small smile, about as much emotion as she normally shows since the "augmentation". The waiter smiles."Right away ma'am." and turns away to go take care of her order, Eritreus takes his mug of coffee, sipping some, he had already eaten and was on his second mug. "Well briefing in 45 minutes give or take, guess we will learn who we're working with and who's in charge of what for the mission then." Athena nods, waiting for her breakfast as Eritreus continues reading the reports, but keeps looking her way once in a while, he knew, somehow, his baby sister was still there, it showed in the momentary emotional outbursts Athena had when they were apart for a time and how she always protected him in the field as much as she could he just didn't know how much of Jesse-Ann was left.

Akito turned away from the sights of the various mobile weapons as the new pilot arrived and remarked about special equipment in mobile suits. "I don't think of it as relying on special equipment but rather using that equipment fo fight to our full capacity. You know they say the first newtype, though had a custom prototype suit had to get it augmented to keep up with him. They say cyber newtypes were made to be the other way around, augmented to keep up with the suits they pilot. But in both instances they are using machines that surpass the machines of normals so they can fight at full capacity. The proof of this is how a newtype can pilot a normal machine but a normal can't pilot a newtype's machine."

Akito watched several squadrons of ZGMF series mobile suits go by. He could tell they were all of ZGMF series because they looked similar to Ginn the most well known model of the ZGMF series because it likely has the most variants out of all the models in the ZGMF series. One thing he always found interesting about mobile suits is how one series of suits lead to another. But the series he liked best were series he considered original like the ZGMF and GN series which didn't develop from a prior series like the AMS series. But he shook his head returning to the present conversation he is involved in.
