Saul smirked at Akito and Leon's assessments of the Republic's benefits . "Yeah, the perks feel a bit hollow when they're really only giving you what you already had. But I guess it's nice to be formally recognized for your skills, Not to mention the officer's pay and the custom uniforms." He motioned to his own bright red outfit. "Anyway, I'm gonna head downtown. With things being how they are, we probably have about another day of freedom before we get shipped off to the fleet and I'm not much for these kinds of parties. You guys can come too if you want, if not I'll see you all later." With a bow he made his began to make his leave.

Ikari looked down at the badge the old man had given her. "JOTUN Mobile Suit Instructor Corps." This actually led to several more questions, most pressingly of which was why someone with this prestigious of a medal was assigned to a back water post like this one? She brushed it off as it really didn't matter, she had more things to worry about than some old relic's fall from grace. Everyone was heading towards the mess hall, so that seemed like a good place to start. She followed behind the others.

At the back of the room that was the stage for Prof. Allen's lecture a man stood up and raised his hand. Though he had been barely noticeable before Professor Cohen's imposing figure made him impossible to ignore once he'd been seen. Well over 6 feet tall and about equally as wide, coupled with his odd flat, box like features he'd look more like a gorilla wearing a lab coat and shades if it weren't for the fact that he could speak.
He spoke with a deep, gravely voice. "In your preliminary report you stated that the higher GN partical density of some of the older models had led to GN induced cancer in some pilots, however you neglected to mention whether the affected were Newtypes or not. This leads into a second question, while we know that your innovator gained his abilities through direct exposure to vast amounts of GN radiation but we don't know if he was already a Newtype prior to exposure. Exactly how much do we know about the effects of GN radiation and do you think it's possible that using selective radiation on pilots with a naturally high awareness could potentially allow for the development of more Newtypes among our aces?"
