Fandom Gundam: War in Heaven

Saul smirked at Akito and Leon's assessments of the Republic's benefits . "Yeah, the perks feel a bit hollow when they're really only giving you what you already had. But I guess it's nice to be formally recognized for your skills, Not to mention the officer's pay and the custom uniforms." He motioned to his own bright red outfit. "Anyway, I'm gonna head downtown. With things being how they are, we probably have about another day of freedom before we get shipped off to the fleet and I'm not much for these kinds of parties. You guys can come too if you want, if not I'll see you all later." With a bow he made his began to make his leave.

------------

Ikari looked down at the badge the old man had given her. "JOTUN Mobile Suit Instructor Corps." This actually led to several more questions, most pressingly of which was why someone with this prestigious of a medal was assigned to a back water post like this one? She brushed it off as it really didn't matter, she had more things to worry about than some old relic's fall from grace. Everyone was heading towards the mess hall, so that seemed like a good place to start. She followed behind the others.

---------------

At the back of the room that was the stage for Prof. Allen's lecture a man stood up and raised his hand. Though he had been barely noticeable before Professor Cohen's imposing figure made him impossible to ignore once he'd been seen. Well over 6 feet tall and about equally as wide, coupled with his odd flat, box like features he'd look more like a gorilla wearing a lab coat and shades if it weren't for the fact that he could speak.

He spoke with a deep, gravely voice. "In your preliminary report you stated that the higher GN partical density of some of the older models had led to GN induced cancer in some pilots, however you neglected to mention whether the affected were Newtypes or not. This leads into a second question, while we know that your innovator gained his abilities through direct exposure to vast amounts of GN radiation but we don't know if he was already a Newtype prior to exposure. Exactly how much do we know about the effects of GN radiation and do you think it's possible that using selective radiation on pilots with a naturally high awareness could potentially allow for the development of more Newtypes among our aces?"

"I doubt everyone will be that formal all the time. All you need to know is just salute if you think someone is a higher rank. I think the worst you can get for being informal is a correction considering grounding an ace pilot over such a matter would be senseless." Akito explained to Leon. Akito then replied to Saul "I have to stay they are probably gonna want me to test out the OO Raiser. Have fun though!"

-----------------------------------

"The Exia pilots were not newtypes, I am sure the other newtypes we worked with can tell you that, though it was kind of a shame considering they were pilots who visited the Asteroid Belt. For Akito the Innovator considering he wasn't much of a pilot but exposed to high purity GN Particles while near the Asteroid Belt which is a place were newtypes are likely to be created must have created the conditions necessary for him to innovate. In such a way it's likely the conditons were good enough to jump straight to Innovator. " Professor Allen replied.

He continued "Though the answer to the question you asked would be under the right conditions yes High Purity GN Particle exposure could lead to the development of more newtypes being the TD Blanket can only be manufactured in Jupiter's atmosphere, so it would be similar to sending them out to the Asteroid Belt or beyond, similar to how people used to take a bit of the soil of somewhere they visited to bring it back with them. Though the newtypes that could come out of this would be Innovators not your standard newtype. There are of course other factors but we'll find out as soon as the new shipment of TD Blankets arrive and another reason I am reserving TD Blankets for Ace pilots."

A messenger arrived and handed him a data pad it had a list of names of Ace Pilots that wanted their suits adjusted and refitted with GN Drives. "Have anyone looked into how to refit and adjust a mobile suit to fit a GN Drive?" He asked the whole Research team.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE HAVE A JOTUN INSPECTION ON OUR HANDS. TEEEEEEEN-HUT!" Leo screamed in his extremely well practiced drill sargeant voice, punctuating the end of his sentence with a loud stomp, as he walked the JOTUN newcomers to the rec hall. Inside the well-lit building, a motley crew of men and a few women stopped what they were doing to look at the doors with death glares on their face. It was as if someone had flown a gay pride flag at a Klan meeting, and things didn't seem to bode well for the newcomers. "Pfthahaha, okay that's enough of that, at ease guys, it's just people on shore leave looking for some R&R". The tension seemed to visibly drain from the room.

Leo covered the entire hall with a sweeping arm motion. "Meet the rag tag Shannon Crew, the permanent members. The helping hands are on leave. Relax, they're good guys, they're just not big fans of JOTUN is all. Can't blame em". He pointed at three men dressed in dirty overalls, one short african, one tall asian and a somewhat overweight caucasian. "That's our tech crew. Josh Bandey, Geki Egawa and Todd Wilburn. Finest mechanics you could ever hope for. They won't invent you a mobile suit to win the war but give them something to work with or towards and they'll get the job done. They're here because Josh has a slight drinking problem, Egawa didn't exactly finish his studies and Todd, well, someone just didn't like Todd".

The three men were poring over blueprints on a table and only nodded before turning back, making sure to cover whatever it was they were working on. All that anyone could see was that it was big and heavy. "As you can see, sometimes work is all we have to do here even on break". He turned to a pair of women playing darts and dressed in fatigue pants and tanktops, obviously related. They were both blonde, one was 5 foot 7 but quite muscular, the other was much frailer looking and had something of a bend to her nose. "The only women in Shannon Base, probably ever. Meet the McGlyyn Sisters, Mimi and Barbara, the only actual Marines at hand. They're here because they took exception to a JOTUN official getting a bit too touchy".

Mimi simply grunted and went back to her darts, while Barbara waved and smiled quite amicably. "They were cleared of any wrongdoing cept for going a little bit overboard while defending themselves, but well, you just don't put your hands on a JOTUN guy without consequences. Speaking of consequences, meet my current crop of trainees, the penal conscripts". It was four men who sat apart on a table, all of them heavily tattooed and looking rather gruff, to say the least. It looked like they had been doing arm wrestling or playing with knives, or maybe both. "What do you do when you're starting to run short on forces? You take whatever hardy people you can find, wherever you can find them. I had a simple request, no psychos or sexual deviants".

The four smiled rather grimly, more to eachother than to the newcomers, and one of them took out a deck of cards. "Truth be told I've no idea what they've done. Records seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle. But they'll make good fighting men and you can't be picky about cannon fodder". This elicited some chuckles from all of the crew. "Now, feel free to make yourselves at home. There's a fridge over there, a bookcase over there and plenty of room to lie down and relax. No one will start trouble if you don't. Ain't that right, people?". A resounding "SIR YES SIR!", ironic yet heartfelt, rung out. Whatever it was that Leopold Creighton had, this band of misfits seemed to like.

The three Mithril members entered following Leo, looking around and noting the people present as they were Introduced, Alice returning waves to the mechanics and sisters then hiding Behind Tex when the con's were Introduced. Tex was doing the same and crossed his arms with a calm, cold look in his eye that meant 'Do not mess with my team or there will be issues' which seemed to make a couple of the con's think again about making a move on the petite brunette. Nearby, codename Athena simply stood silent and passive, looking about without having removed her ball-cap and shades as the three of them moved to a free table and sat down on some of the chairs present. "Ah reckon we're ta wait here until someone comes along and tells us what's goin on?" He asks as he relaxes in his chair, pulling a Cuban cigar from his jacket pocket along with a cutter and zippo, snipping the tip and lighting it, taking a few relaxed puffs, Alice shook her head and eye-rolled, always telling him that was a bad habit but he never listened, Athena sat in her chair silently until a newcomer came in, she turned and jumped out of her seat running over, showing uncharacteristic emotion as eritreus came in, he smirked as she ran over and hugged him, as she did her ball-cap fell off, loosing her very long dark hair as she clung to the only man she ever got close to. "Whoa there Jes...Athena." he says, catching himself before speaking her real name which nobody else on their ship knew. "People would think you've not seen me in weeks and we were Aboard the Spectre's Domain together not even two hours ago!" he says, smiling, she sighs and just stays clung to him as he gently pats her back. "Come on, lets not make a scene." She sighs and nods, pulling apart reluctantly, letting him move, he bends down, grabbing her Cap and hands it to her. "here, come on, lets go sit with the others." He says as he leads her back to the table.

(No problem. I've been busy too so it's no big deal. I'll see what I can do to move us along.)

Captain Kiting's hands were shaking. He'd expected bad news but this was beyond anything he could have anticipated. He couldn't see the other participants of the conference but the dead silence through the call was an indicator of how everyone was feeling.

"... As you can see from these images we've seen a massive build up of colonial forces near Lagrange 2. The numbers are uncertain at the moment but we estimate that they are beyond even the combined forces we faced in the battle above Berlin." The information officer paused, She wasn't taking this much better than anyone else. "...With this knowledge and the increased number of skirmishes that have erupted both in space and against anti-league forces on earth believed to be affiliated with the secessionists we are led to believe that we are facing the largest offensive of the war, and possibly a direct invasion of Earth."

A few of the officers mumbled to themselves and each other, Kiting simply leaned back in his chair. An older man spoke up. Admiral Venger wasn't famous for much of anything. He'd achieved his position through political deals and by making friends with the right people. He'd never seen any fighting that wasn't hilariously one sided in his favor and now he was going to be the head officer in what may be the most daring action in the war so far. Though nobody said anything out loud there were quite a few who were screaming internally at this prospect.

"Gentlemen, I'm sure you've figured out why your here by now. The League would rather that we nip this one in the bud before it blooms into something nasty and to that end we intend to use our enemy's positioning against them. The ships in harbor in and above Africa will assume the role of a joint taskforce with the singular goal of sinking the enemy fleet before they ship out. If we can catch them by surprise we believe we can cause enough damage to not only halt the attack but give us enough leverage to sieze Lagrange 2 and from there march on to Lagrange 1. Gentlemen, this battle may decide the fate of Earth. So I trust you will give it your all. We move out tomorrow at noon."

------------------------------------------------

After leaving the party Saul found himself wandering Altoma's downtown area. Without much to do he found himself window shopping. as he passed by a junk store at the far end of town he accidently ran into a young man who was leaving the store, causing him to drop the parts he'd bought onto the floor.

"Sorry about that." He leaned down to help pick up what he had dropped. The man had black hair and a soldier's figure. Saul eyed the parts as he picked them up, it was all surprisingly good equipment as far as junk went, this guy had a good eye for parts. "You a pilot or a dealer." He asked idly.

------------------------------------------------

Ikari surveyed the room. Of course a place like this would be staffed by convicts. Still, she had to give the old man credit, she'd only seen a handful of penal units in her service but this one was by far the most organized and the fact that they all snapped to attention when he ordered it put them in the running for most disciplined.

Making her way to the far end of the room she found herself a reasonably isolated spot away from the cons. Not that it was particularly difficult, as the moment she sat down the few near her got up and moved away. She sighed, this wasn't really what she had in mind for her day off. She'd give it an hour, see if she could scrounge up some free food. Then she'd see if she could get clearance to head into town, maybe she could get Alexis to tag along.

--------------------------------------------------

At the edge of the city, among rows of abandoned buildings a man in mismatched camouflage patterns watched the ships move up and down the elevator. As another came down he spoke into a radio.

"...That one makes seven and we still don't know how many in orbit. I don't think we can afford to wait any longer." Another voice answered on the other end. "very well, I'll send out the message. Move into position and prepare the attack." The scout put his radio away and ran down the stairs towards a large collapsed building where several others were waiting. He waved and yelled to them and they all began to work to pull a seires of large tarps off if a set of mobile suits that had been hidden among the rubble. A ragtag army of GINNs, Zakus, and stolen GMs painted in various colors slowly rose among the buildings and faced towards the base.

---------------------------------------------------

Several of the scientists raised their hands indicating they had read the papers and a woman at the front spoke. "Yes sir, and we're ready to begin the process whenever you're ready."

"Okay now the dummies are using paint rounds but you are. Don't use the Raiser sword or anything destructive in here because you'd destroy the testing ground not that you should need to. We are just testing to make sure it wil

work, so just follow my instructions." Vida warned Akito over the comms. He was trying out the O0 Gundam though currently without the O Raiser because it needed to be adjusted with a veda based remote piloting system, Viola said that Allen took it from Blueprints called Nadlee and improved it so that Akito with the O0 Gundam or someone on the Quintessence can remote control it. Apparently it has to do with some veda based tech installed in the ship, the suit, and the O Raiser.

"And do not wreck my suit!" he heard Parbat yell over the comms. He then heard the sounds of someone asking her to return to the Mobile suit deck, though he couldn't see it he could feel her do the "I'm watching you" gesture. He saw the green light come from a top a tower in the center of testing ground. Akito then placed his hands on the controls and made the 00 Gundam spring into action. Some dummy GMs were released into the testing grounds as well. "They are going to set up while you make sure you can move it and such." Vida explained.

Akito began testing manuevers simple and complex at various speeds. The suit handled like dream and with ease, it was as easy and moving his own body. He could feel a connection with this machine just like with the Quanta as his suit moved around emitting the bright green GN Particles. He briefly checked his instruments and suit status to make sure it was operating normally and without problems. Somethings of course he couldn't test like the atmospheric entry feature which as Allen said rivals the atmospheric entry capabilities of these nuclear powered prototypes that supposedly exist.

"Okay lets begin some combat, I know you dislike taking things slow so we'll skip to the mock battle." Vida said. The GMs began to fly toward the OO Gundam from their positions firing paint rounds. The OO Gundam seemed to evade with utter ease and then with shot down each suit with one shot from a GN Sword III. "Okay let's get some more in!" Akito cheered over the comms.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Professor Allen replied "Then let's get on it. You guys are the heads of my teams so go lead I have finished uploading the necessary data. The manufacting teams have given me the green light and the shipment of TD Blankets is not too far now. I have also received word that the mass produced suit pilots from the three fleets that are getting this crop of GN drives are beginning the simulator training. I'll call another meeting if anything comes up, if not then we'll meet again after this batch of Drives both Tau and True are finished. Mobile Weapon adjustment team leaders don't have to attend if you haven't finished your work. Meeting adjourned."

The former capital city of Clarence had seen enough civil wars and military interventions that whatever buildings were left went untouched for years. Nothing that had survived as much crap as it had deserved to be messed with, it'd had more than enough with its regular existence. Only a portion of the remaining buildings, the really safe ones that had impressive-looking but otherwise totally safe damage was used for what little tourism it could attract. The rest, the port in particular, was avoided as there were still unstable structures, undetonated ordinance and poisoned waters. It would take any force a painful deal of very, very quiet work to turn it into a good hiding spot and go undetected. So clearly whoever these people were, they were dedicated.

Unfortunately for Shannon Base, such a thing had happened almost literally under their nose. They were likely to take the blame even though there were no orders nor any particular reason why anyone would run patrols in the area. Just a bombed out ruin. To even get mobile suits there they would've had to transport them disassembled and put them together in whatever facilities they managed to set up in the city. So, the automatic alarm that signaled mobile suit activity on the radar came as something of a surprise. "Well...that's a first", Diehard muttered as his soldiers burst into activity, immediately dropping whatever it was they were doing and heading towards the hangar to prepare themselves and their machines, all of it double time and so automatic tables and chairs rolled on the floor.

They didn't have anyone running mission control at the time, or usually ever really, but their personal mobile suits had a good link to the base's comm array courtesy of the tech crew, meaning they could monitor the situation and keep in touch quite a bit better than it'd be expected within a certain radius. Home turf advantage. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, we've got at least two mobile suits incoming, possibly more, so me and the boys are going to go blow them to kingdom come and maybe get one or two and figure out why exactly this is going down. We've got ways of keeping in touch and the situation monitored but they won't be any good to you even if you have mobile suits handy".

He got rid of his leather jacket, revealing his well trained body, and went for the door, though not before pointing towards a particularly large couch. "There's a bunker down there, if you'd like to sit this out. It can also double as a secondary mission control if you want to be helpful, but unless your ships are real handy they're not gonna be here in time for the party. Or you can make a dash for the hangar and take out whatever we've to spare. Up to you". And with that he was off, not on foot but jumping on his bike. He made sure his baby would always start at a second's notice just in case something like this happened and got there just as the team was starting to get ready.

He'd drilled them pretty well. He just hoped the enemies didn't have anything too crazy at hand. He dressed himself for battle, jumping onto his peculiarly armored pilot suit ("the insides of your cockpit can start exploding and it sucks", was his answer whenever anyone asked about it) and dashing up the stairs to the walkway that led to the active MS cockpits, though there were other machines handy. "Tch." Fenn stooped down to pick up some of the parts as well. Thankfully, the salvaged parts could survive a 4 foot drop. He eyed the other man with suspicion - something about him just rubbed him the wrong way.

"Pilot. Not affiliated with any of the major players." He spoke tersely and in hushed tones as he glanced back at the cashier.

"If you're looking for an escort then we might be able to come to an agreement."

As things unfolded, Codename Athena dashed off at a mad run towards the Spectre's Domain as she pulled her commlink headset out and put it on, Eritreus, Tex and Alice hot on her heels. Eritreus had his own link on as well as the others put theirs on, the four remaining Glaive team members dashing towards the elevator as the alert went out. "Dranajek to Spectre's Domain, come in, we've got multiple unknown, possible enemy MS on route for the base, we need our units, can you have them remote delivered to us?"

The communications officer got the message and turned to his superior. "Lieutenant Commander ma'am! Glaive team is requesting RDTP (Remote Deployment To Pilot) for Glaives One Two Three and Six! Due to probable enemy attack!" Lieutenant Commander MacKenzie turned to the Captain. "Sir!" The Captain, who had just sat in his seat due to the cautionary alarm that recent wen off nods as he gets a grim look on his face. "RDTP Authorised! Scramble the Glaives and have Scimitar Team on Standby."

Hangar

The crews were scrambling, as Scimitar team boarded their six ReZel type E, affectionately nicknamed Super Rezel's, the remaining four GLaive units, Eritreus's Gustav Karl, Tex and Alice's two Super ReZel's and codename Athena's Kshatrya Novum were all activated with Auto systems set to home in on their Pilot's communication links, the four units were very quickly moved onto the two main Catapults and launch elevators. "Hangar to bridge, Glaives are prepped, launch is a go!" Called out the chief tech.

Elevator docks area and Shannon base.

The Four Mobile Suits launched, the ReZel's transforming to MS mode as they made the short distance, the Kshatrya and Gustav following, all four units landing near their intended pilots in a parking lot devoid of any actual ground vehicles at that time, their cockpits opening as each pilot ran to the lowering entry lift-rope. Soon each pilot was hoisted back into his or her cockpit, the entry hatches closing as each units eyes or visor flashed with a brief full activation glow.

Eritreus Opens communications with all available allied forces. "Glaive One to all allied forces, Glaive team is now in play!" The ReZel's transform and take to the skies as the Kshatrya Novum and Gustav Karl beeline it at low level on thruster speed towards the Base's hangar to form up with the bases limited number of units. "Tex, Alice get eyes on these motherfuckers and relay their positions and numbers asap, we need to know what we're going up against!" Says Eritreus as he moves into the area just outside Shannon Base's MS hangar, the Kshatrya Novum landing behind him, wings opening and closing in a reflexive manner, showing Athena was ready for a fight. Her Newtype Aura was going strong any other Newtypes around could very clearly feel it now, grim, determined, merciless. "Athena, stay close and support our team with your funnels once the fighting begins!" Orders Eritreus, Athena's reply was quick. "Understood sir, will assist allies and neutralise enemy sir!"

Saul looked down at his own uniform before passing off the pieces he picked up.

"I don't know about an escort, but we are looking for talented pilots. In any case, we're going to be moving some important cargo tomorrow. If you're looking for employment think it over." He stood up and looked down at the man. He couldn't feel a newtype pressure on him but he seemed strong, he'd have to be considering that many of the parts he was holding were suited for deep space combat. Not many oldtypes survived very long out there. "...And between you and me, I'd make the decision quick. The world's going crazy and honest jobs might get a lot harder to come by." He reached into his pocket for a piece of paper and scribbled down an address and handed it to him. "The work we're doing right now is pretty unambiguous, just moving some military hardware around. Plus we've got money to burn so the pay is descent. Drop by the naval yard later if you're interested. Don't know when we'll ship out, so again, you should be quick."

-------------------------------------------------------

The sudden sirens caught Ikari off guard. With all the shouting and running she barely caught what the Old Man had to say. Obviously she wasn't content to hide and instead messaged the Arcadia as she followed the majority of the crowd out of the mess.

"Romano to Arcadia, do you read? We believe we're under attack, do we have confirmation?"

Kiting and the assorted bridge crew were manning their own positions as the Lt's message came through.

"Copy that Lieutenant. We have multiple confirmations on a large number unidentified mobile suits throughout the city. It's not much of a stretch to assume they're hostile."

The lieutenant cursed under her breath.

"Can you send the Crossbone to my position?"

Kiting looked over to one of his officers who shook his head "no" before sending him a screen.

"Negative Lieutenant. The Crossbone hasn't been calibrated for gravity combat, and changing the settings to just being manageable could take some time."

Ikari considered this and weighed her options. She didn't have time to make it back to the ship but it would be a cold day in hell before she went and hid under ground. She watched the base pilots scramble to their hangers and remembered the old man's words.

"I'll try and scrounge up something down here, have the mechanics do what they can."

With that she bolted towards the nearest hanger. The building was nearly empty by the time she got there and the growing sounds of fighting indicated that most of the base staff had likely already mobilized. Unfortunately this meant the only mobile suit still around was an old GM model that was missing some of its armor, either because it was under going repairs or had been stripped for someone else's. Either way it was all she had. She silently prayed it was still intact enough to fight as she climbed into the cockpit and went through the ignition procedures. Against all odds the machine whirred to life and pulled itself of the rack. Now she just had t figure out what to do for weapons, the suit still had its beam saber and she was able to get a shield off the replacement rack, but that still left her without ranged options save for the head vulcans and that wasn't exactly a whole lot.

The wounded suit wobbled its way to the hanger door, partially due to all the missing parts and partially because Ikari had never actually piloted a suit in gravity before. This was beginning to seem like a worse idea by the second. She propped herself up by the door and tried to figure out what exactly was going on.

---------------------------------------

Explosions rocked the city as the militants pushed closer and closer towards the elevator. While the federation forces were doing their best to hold them off it was clear they were loosing ground. What the militants lacked in skill and technology they made up for in numbers and drive, one group in particular had gotten close enough to begin lobbing explosive shells directly into the base, but didn't seem to have a clear target, simply shooting at anything that looked vaguely important.

The real threat appeared when a squad of eight assorted modified gelgoog models entered the field. Advanced suits like those didn't wind up in the hands of some militia by accident, and it showed. This group fought like real pilots, moving in a tight formation and weaving through fire with a surprising grace. The squad took advantage of an opening made by an earlier wave and managed to punch a hole into the base, cleaving through several GMs on their way into the base. which gave an opening for some of the lesser forces. Unlike the others, this group clearly had an actual goal though it wasn't immediately clear what it was. They cleanly split into 2 groups with one batch headed towards the hangers and the other headed towards the elevator.

Glaive Team

The Team`s two transformable "Super" ReZel`s Soar up into the sky, Tex and Alice transmitting the data from the two Mobilesuits cameras to Eritreus and Sephiria, showing them the obvious ringleader team of this group of colonial scum. They transmit the information over to the Spectre`s Domain so the ship can monitor them all more accurately as well as to the other Mobile-Suits

That are moving to engage the enemy.

Eritreus rounds a corner, firing his Gustav Karl`s autogun at a black and orange painted Hizak, the high caliber shells smashing into and chewing up the enemy unit`s left arm, the Hizak`s mooneye turns, flashing as the pilot retaliates, missing as Eriteus uses an administrative building for cover, the Hizak is soon joined by a Zaku II RS that fires a rocket launcher, blowing a massive chunk of the building to pieces, Eriteus boost dodging sideways. "Holy Christ, these bozos mean business!" He says as a massive shadow looms over his unit, soon multiple black colored funnel units fly by, firing their beam weapons at the two enemy units, effectively slicing them into possible spare parts, one neat shot in each cockpit area mercilessly vaporizing both pilots. The Funnels return to the docking ports of the Kshatriya Novum as it lands near the Gustav Karl. "Two enemy units neutralized sir, telemetry indicates we should deal with those Gelgoog types sir, they seem to be the enemy`s top pilots in this particular group sir." Says Athena as she points with her units left arm, hand`s index finger extended towards one of the two groups that was headed most likely for the massive refueling area behind their current position.

Meanwhile the two Rezel E`s begin strafing runs on another group of enemy units, this one composed of a blue painted Dom, green painted Ginn and white painted Zaku II R5, Tex and Alice firing missiles and beam canon fire at them as they pass, the enemy units returning fire with an assortment of machinegun, auto-canons and rocket fire, missing the rapid and agile Waverider form Mobile-Suits. "Looks like these guys thought this attack through some, there's decent coordination and they aren't slouches." says Alice as she banks her unit around, the techs on the Spectre`s Domain had taken the time on their transit to make the needed adjustments to all the on-board MS for atmospheric use, hence why none had any real performance problems at this time."Ah reckon they did, allright, lets see if these colonial muckety-mucks can deal with a doubleteam, on my mark! NOW!" The two units spiral around each other, firing a swarm of missiles, sending them slamming into the three enemy units, causing severe damage to all three and neutralizing the rocket launcher equipped Dom.

"Very well then. Now, if you'll excuse me I have some matters to attend to." Fenn replied with a curt nod. Although he had hoped that this job concerned un-affiliated mercenaries in all likelihood he had probably just accepted a job for the Colonial Forces.

The young man made the walk back to his hotel room once more with the box of parts. The orb remained stationary on the table top, panels popped open to expose its internals. It would be a while before he'd need to head out to the naval yard and thus the man continued his repairs on the device.

After he finished testing out the 00 Raiser Gundam, Akito went to go watch the mass produced pilots in the simulators train to pilot the new models of mass produced suits. He watched all the scores pop up onto the screen as pilots finished their simulations and submitted their scores. He concluded and was subsequently amazed they were using more than one location for this as the amount of scores that pop up on the screen at a time was clearly too many for the simulators in the testing facility.

As one pilot exited the simulator Akito couldn't resist trying it out for himself. He inputed his user information and then began setting up the mission. Soon enough he found himself piloting the new suit against computer program GM IIs. The GMs were easy work but the suit clearly lagged in some respects compared to the 00 Raiser but of course that was comparing a mass produced suit against an Ace Prototype. It was like comparing a basic soldier to an elite. Akito submitted his score as he finished the simulation and climbed out of the simulator.

As Akito exited the testing facility and took one of transports that pass to the outside ofmthe colony, he saw the first few Baikal class ships to be refitted flying in formations, he counted four in total. They emitted bright orange particles which we even brighter against the dull colors of the other colonies of Lagrange 1, he guessed those must be the new non toxic Pseudo GN particles. The cart returned to the inside of the colony as it arrived atnthe drop off point. Akito exited the cart and made his way back to the Quintessence which was in the process of being restocked.

Saul was a bit taken aback by the man's short response and quick exit.

"...Not much of a people person I guess." He shrugged it off with an annoyed sigh. In any case, he'd done enough sight seeing especially considering there wasn'tt all that much to see in the first place. Fascist grey had never really been his favorite ascetic.

A short walk let him catch a fast tram back to the harbor where he arrived about the same time Akito did.

"Yo." he waved to his co pilot as he caught up. "So how was the welcoming party?" He asked snidely. "You didn't bring anyone back with you so it must have not been that great." he chuckled a bit at his own stupid joke as he browsed over the items being loaded. Most of it, he assumed, was just supplies for the trip. With the exception of the quanta and a few spare GN drives there likely wasn't much else to worry about. He still needed to figure out how to get his hands on a GN weapon, maybe even a Gundam of his own.

--------------------

"YAAAHHHH" Ikari shot forward and cut though a zaku before slamming down hard on one knee, loosing her balance on the landing but using her boosters to slide into cover which tore off more of the plating on the leg. Honestly it really was just her newtype senses keeping her alive as she had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Gravity combat was a whole new world compared to anything she'd ever even felt. She rose the GM's shield to deflect a recoiless rifle round before quicly scooping up the dead Zaku's machine gun and unloading it into the offending Ginn. As the suit burst into flames and exploded she noticed the black suits raising hell in the distance.

A momentary lull in the fight gave her the chance to sprint over and duck behind cover before making contact. She opened a chat line with the Novum.

"Hey you guys are the ones from before, right? We fought together against that freaky Gundam in space. Of course I guess I was in a Gundam too at the time." She laughed a bit as a hail of bullets whipped bye. "I'm gonna level with you guys, I'm not exactly at 100% right now and I was kind of hoping you guys had a plan or something."

The Kshatriya Novum stops behind a building as the message from Ikari comes through, Athena pausing as she listens to the young woman, and sensing her, knowing it to be the pilot of that Gundam type they called Crossbone. Eritreus was still fighting, engaging an enemy Ginn, swiss cheezing its torso with bullets from his Gustav's MG, causing the units cor to overload and detonate, blowing a small parking structure behind it with it. "Oops!" He simply says as Athena opens a channel to Ikari. "Affirmative, that was our unit, do you require assistance?" her voice is cold, methodical, robotic... not unlike that of some rumored pilots, newtypes trained nearly from birth only to fight and be soldiers.

An enemy Zaku II armed with two assault rifles rushes at Athena's unit only to get intercepted and turned into scrap metal by a hail of beam fire from her funnels as the Kshatriya Novum takes off, drawing its beamswords as it opens fire with tis chest mounted beam canons at the first group of elite enemies that had come up just then, heading for god knows what target. The other two glaives were still running strafing attacks on the enemy heading for the fuel depot, managing to at the least slow them to a crawl.

" Welcoming party? I was simply test piloting the 00 Raiser." Akito said as the work crews loaded it onto the Quintessence. "I didn't even know there was a welcoming party." Akito added. Then one of the researchers from the Gundam Nucleus Project who was stationed aboard the Quintessence to do their research arrived. "Greetings gentleman, I am Dr. Weiss here from the GN Project. Nice to meet you." He offered his hand to Akito who shook it then to Saul.

He continued "If the picture is right your Lt. Rey pilot of the Sazabi and one of those on the list to have their suit adjusted and refitted with a GN Drive. Now for your suit this would require stripping it apart and replacing much of the inner tech except the psycoframe that we do not have to remove. Here it'd take a few days but if we can move it to one of facilities outfitted for that we can problem get this done a lot sooner with all the robotic arms and such to do the work. So I am here for final comfirmation and then for you to move it to one of our facilities if you say yes. Do you want your suit refitted with a Gundam Nucleus Drive?"

The group of Gelgoogs that broke through the base trying to get to the comm array met not with some ill-prepared rabble of recuits manning outdated and underperforming machines but with a properly organized and coordinated squad with a deadly trio of high power machines. While everyone else seemed content to engage in individual fight and pick off targets in the distance, the Shannon Base crew defended the actually valuable positions as commanded by old Diehard. When the four Gelgoogs moved in they were met with a GM unit carrying a veritable wall of a shield, perfectly capable of blocking even high power beam weapons with nary a scratch, coming out to meet them and cut them off, blasting at them with a beam rifle.

Frontal attack wasn't such a great idea against a target like that, if there was any doubt then a few ineffective shots would easily confirm that, so of course flanking was in order. Such defensive equipment was outstanding but the pilot could only rattle off barely aimed shots from behind it and nothing carrying something like that was going to be turning fast. And there came Leopold Creighthon, ready for the attempt to exploiting the Guard Custom's obvious weakness. It really must suck, running into what amounts to a heavily armored, hovering weapons platform running interception and spraying your general area with enough beams to turn a battleship into metallic swiss cheese. Mega particle gatling guns are no joke.

If any of the Gelgoogs managed to survive the barrage of what could only be deemed overwhelming firepower and break off, the Night Seeker was ready to burst with its superior thrusters that made it both agile and capable of mind-boggling 400 meter leaps, using a Feyadeen long beam rifle and enhanced sensor suite to snipe survivors. Meanwhile, the GM Ground types held their ground behind a line of their shields, which also served as makeshift firing platform where the convicts rested their gigantic 180mm cannons. Any hostile that tried to follow in after the much faster Gelgoogs was met with well timed explosive shells capable of ripping a mobile suit apart by proxy, never mind a direct hit.

While all of this was happening Diehard was busy both surveying the overall situation and coordinating his crew. He opened comm channels to his newfound allies, the ones that looked like they might be worth the time and were close enough to organize. "Ikari, you picked literally the worst machine we have on hand, retreat and help hold the line with the penal corps. They're fine for now but who knows how long that'll last, take one of their machineguns if you need one. New guys, you've got fliers, intercept the group of Gelgoogs heading towards the orbital elevator. If the ring leaders are going there then there's a reason why, figure out what it is if you can, end them no matter what. We'll hold the front of the base and deal with the riff-raff".

The instructions made sense to him. His group was small but incredibly dangerous thanks to the combination of a fast and agile sniper, a nigh unbreakable shield and the GM Barrage's, well, everything backed by constant cannon fire. Anything that slipped by them, Ikari could likely deal with and help take pressure off the penal corps so they could keep their supressive fire up. The newcomers could at least try to stop the other 4 Gelgoogs before they did whatever it was that they wanted to do, transformable mobile suits had a much better chance to catch them before it was too late and he wholly expected to be done and heading their way soon even if things went bad for them.

Ikari was taken back by the monotone voice that received her. This bothered her on several levels, while she had always known that there were other other super soldiers like her she had always assumed they were around her generation. This woman however sounded notably older. Just how long had the program been going on? She shook it off, these were questions for another time.

"Uh.. Yeah, I could use some help. I need to fall back to my ship to make some adjustments to my suit. This thing here is't really doing it for me." She ducked back down as a burst of rounds clipped the building she was using for cover. "Unfortunately these guys aren't making that easy for me so if you have the time I could use some help punching through."

The old man's order's came through at the end of this exchange and while his orders made sense it still pissed her off to no end to have a marine, regardless of rank or past, telling her what to do. "I'm working on the suit problem, and in any case it sounds like you handled your side well enough, you go assist your men. I'm heading back to my ship to get my suit." She bolted off before he could raise any objection, but also without checking to see if Scimitar team was covering her. the sheer stupidity of what she had just done out of spite only dawned on her as she approached the Gelgoog squad from behind.

-----------------------------------

Saul laughed at Akito's confusion and shook the man's hand but disagreed with his statement. "I don't think we have the time to move it anywhere else and we really don't have a couple of days to wait even if we keep it here. it might be easier just to salvage one of the Exia models. We can use any non essential parts from the Sazabi to replace whatever's missing and see about having your men figure out how to repurpose some of the funnels as GN weapons. In the mean time I'll just use whatever we have on hand."

(I'm gonna go 0 Gundam for now. Once we get to a place where it's viable we'll have the 0 and Sazabi kind of combined into a version of the Reborns Gundam.)

Codename Athena notices the damaged GM moving and the Kshatriya moves swiftly, firing its beam weapons at the enemy forces, funnels launching to cover Ikari's exfiltraiton towards her ship. The massive black quadwing careeening towards the enemy Gelgoogs that were assaulting towards the Fuel depot in order to both slow them and cover Ikari. "Kshatriya Novum engaging enemy Gelgoog group and point three seven, Ikari, take the route west of point three seven, I will provide cover." She says, blasting away with her units weapons and funnels at the Gelgoogs in a hail of beamfire.

Eritreus saw her move and grunts as he starts to lay down some bakcup fire, tossing some grenades to further throw the enemy assaulters off balance while targeting weak areas like joints and thruster assemblies in order to disable them, maybe try to take some alive for interrogation. "Go for it Ikari, Athena has your back and so do I!"

Meanwhile the two transformable units begin strafing and missile attacks on the other enemy groups as they fly over at speed, cirgling around and dropping a hail of weapons fire at them in concentrated bursts of beam and missile fire from above."Glaives two and three providing close air support!"

Ikari grinned at her back up's timely arrival. "I owe you guys! Thanks!" With that she gave a hard kick and boosted out of the enemies' line of sight. The wounded suit felt like it was going to fall apart at any moment, but she ignored the rough ride and watched her allies fight as she moved between cover.

Scimitar team was giving them trouble but the Gelgoogs weren't going down wothout a fight. One of them managed to break out of the fight and moved into cover near Ikari. She tried to shoot him in the back with her stolen machine gun but he reacted faster than she'd expected. Weaving through the gunfire like an angry ghost he fire a few pot shots at the GM. Ikari managed not to take any major hits as she spiraled into cover but an unlucky shot tore the barrel off her gun. She was now officially down to just her Beam saber and head vulcans and her enemy knew it. However he didn't seem intent on capitalizing on this, possibly because he no longer considered her a threat and so he turned to leave. Unfortunately for that pilot, Ikari didn't subscribe to the same code of honor. with his back exposed she charged, head vulcans blazing. He stumbled a bit as the shells bounced off his back before whipping around and firing a barrage of beam fire, but this time it was Ikari who had the advantage. She tucked and moved through the oncoming fire and took a glancing blow across the left arm. With a rising strike she split the beam rifle which exploded in a brilliant fashion. She tried to take advantage of this momentum and cleave the rest of the arm off but took a shield to the chest for her trouble. Stumbling back, her enemy grabbed his beam Naginata and took a fighting stance. Ikari gave a wild grin, it was wierdly pleasent to face an enemy like this. No super powers, now secret weapons, just a solid fight between combatants. She answered his stance with her own, crippled arm dangling at her side. After a moment of listening to the flashes of the battle beside them they both charged. With even strikes, Ikari's Main cam went down as her head unit was struck and the Gelgoog fell to the ground as its leg separated from it's body. Neither of the pilots had actually gone for the kill. Switching to her sub camera, Ikari walked her mangled machine over to where the gelgoog had gone down. The hatch was still sealed shut so the pilot was still inside, but Ikari didn't really even consider finishing him off. She did make a point to cut off the suits arms but beyond that she considered him out of the fight. With the others still in the fight with The quadwing and its allies she had nothing between her and her ship.

David rolled his shoulders back and crack his neck, waiting to the Elevator's doors to open alongside the other 2 members of his squad. He looked at his radar and made note of the probable positioning the Geloog's were likely to be in when the doors opened. He sighed and raised his zanbuster and set it against his shoulder, the squad following his example. "Remember, watch your fire. Our own men don't know we're here. Even if they take a few shots at us, don't lose your cool." He told his men. Wonder if Hal is here. Been a while since I've seen Waylev. He shook his head as the doors opened and the squad exited quickly, making it to the convict's line in no time and opening fire at the remaining Geloogs there, each member of the squad taking one out in the surprise attack.

"Calvary's here, soldiers. This is Eagle, leading Osprey and Crow. Who's the CO or XO of this unit?" Eagle called over the comms.

Evelyn yawned from the back of the car, feet up.

"Ma'am, were almost there."

"I didn't ask, Marksley."

"Sorry, ma'am."

The car stopped at the docks and Evelyn kicked the door open, breaking the hinge. "Father will pay for it, Marksley."

"...Miller"

Her eye twitched. "Excuse me?"

"It's Miller, ma'am." The driver said. Evelyn's fist came through the window of the passenger door. "Never, EVER, correct me." She said though gritting teeth.

--

After several apologies and bandaging her bleeding hand, Miller drove off. Evelyn looked up at her new assignment. "The Quintessence, eh?" She smirked and strode toward the ship. She stopped next to Saul Rey. "You know, when I was reassigned, I wasn't expecting to see you here." She grabbed his chin. "Been a while, Pretty Boy."

"Okay I'll have them drop off another suit for you to use while we work on the Sazabi. Since the demand is not as immediate we can work on it aboard the Quintessence. Thank you Lt. Rey, you'll be notified when the suit arrives so you can test it before we ship out either tomorrow or the next day. It's arrival depends on when the TD Blankets arrive which should be late today or early tomorrow." Weiss said before he left to check on other matters concerning his work aboard the Quintessence.

Akito thought about the Exia when Saul suggested they salvage them. "I guess their pilots would also want their machines even if only parts of them to fight on in their place." Akito commented. He turned to see the first squadron of Pseudo GN Drive suits flying inside the colony likely heading towards an exit to join their ships. Akito heard the Quintessence would be leaving and joining its fleet once its Mass produced Pseudo GN drive suits arrive. The suits gave of bright orange particles leaving a brief trail behind them as they flew, some of them seemed to be carrying lances but Akito couldn't tell because those could just be overly large drills. The suits eventually were out of sight and Akito turned to other matters.

Akito turned as someone else arrived she was bandaging her hand and seemingly flirting with Lt. Rey. He didn't remember a prior warning about her arrival unless she is from the squadron being of Mass produced pilots being assigned to the Quintessence but she didn't look like it. He sensed a newtype pressure from her, so if she is one then what would she be doing piloting a mass produced suit. He would have to ask Viola about this later.

Fenn took a deep breath as his mobile suit disembarked from the port where the Jovian Fleet's ship had docked. As a prototype, the Woundwort's operational time was rather limited. Thus, he used subtle movements and the several of the suit's sub-arm units to maneuver around Altoma's perimeter to the naval yard.

"...If they're transporting military hardware their ship should stand out." He patted the spherical object's dented top plate as he drifted around. The Woundwort-Rah remained disguised, the tarp wrapped around it probably gave off the impression that he was piloting some cobbled together suit/armor hybrid.

The man shifted his attention back to the object. Although the key components had been repaired or replaced, the object's data storage had failed to retrieve proper start-up files. He had found a port on the sphere and directly connected it to the Woundwort-Rah's main terminal.

"BOOTI..NG. HARO TER...INA... EST..AB..." The green sphere's speakers had been more damaged than Fenn thought. Regardless, it seemed that it was compatible with more contemporary Mobile Suit Operating Systems. As the ex-JOTUN pilot leaned back and closed his eyes, he missed a notification quickly flash on the panoramic screen of the Primrose II's cockpit.

[LACIE - INTEGRATION IN PROGRESS]

Saul recoiled at the sight of princess of Lagrange 3. Any facade of dignity or poise he might have had evaporated in an instant and replaced itself with pure terror.

"WHAT ARE DOING HERE!?" He coughed and tried to recompose himself, but that didn't do much to hide the fact that he was still scarred shitless. "Ahem. I mean, What are you doing here Ms. Free? I mean how did you get assigned to a post like this? I, Uh.." he quickly looked around feverishly to find anyway out only to catch the tail end of Akito slinking off into the distance and was almost tempted to call to him to save him, but alas he would never be able forgive himself if he dragged a friend into this nonsense. "...'D love to catch up but I need too..." He improvised, watching the boxes being loaded into the ship. "...Head to the hanger to make sure my new suit is being prepared properly. You know how mechanics are, all substance no style. I'd hate to get in in the middle of a battle and find they'd tampered with any of y prefered settings." He turned away and tried his hardest to escape to the safety of his ship, flimsy as his excuse was.

-------------------------------

The Arrival of the Flints was a god send for the ground forces and it wasn't one Ikari was about to take for granted. Still gunning for her ship she answered the call.

"Lt. Ikari Romano. I'm the ranking JOTUN officer on the ground. You guys didn't show up a moment too soon did you? I'm falling back to my ship, Scimitar team Has the Gelgoogs locked down but our outer defense are falling. See if you can use those fancy suits to put an end to this." With the situation relayed she used the last of her power to get her busted ass suit to her ship, quickly dismounting and sprinting inside.

Akito arrived on the bridge and said "Admiral Viola some strange newtype has arrived down on the Mobile Suit deck." He paused as he heard Vida read a message aloud to Viola. "Captain, the shipment of TD Blankets is under attack. The Colonial Republic wants the Quintessence to head out and deal with since we're already resupplied. They said we are to leave as soon as Ensign Free and Lt. Rey's suits arrive which they sad should be shortly." Captain Viola thought for a moment before standing and issuing orders. "Put the ship on alert, get all pilot's on standby at the mobile suit deck, and prepare to depart shortly!" Viola then sat down back in her chair. Akito replied "Yes ma'am!" before he headed back to the mobile suit deck.

Vida voice played over the loud speaker. "All hands to their stations prepare for departure, pilots are too standby on the mobile suit deck. We are to leave as soon as the last two suits arrive." Akito arrived back down on the mobile suit deck as they were bringing in Rey's machine unsure if they brought in the new girl's machine as well. Dr. Weiss was down there giving instructions to the mechanics to take it somewhere. Likely to insert a GN Drive left over from the Exia being only two were inserted into the 00 Raiser. Akito walked down two flights of stairs to Saul to tell him what they are doing. "We're hunting pirates LT. Rey." Akito explained.
