Fenn Telwick

Approaching Lagrange 1 colony [DATA CORRUPTED]

5:05 GMT

Out of the corner his eye, the young man saw a green pinpoint light up somewhere in the far reaches of space. The Jupitris-class vessel was now in the process of the docking with the colony. The Goddess followed the two GINNs into the ship's hangar as it decelerated and slowly maneuvered into position with the docking clamps.

Fenn exited his mobile suit last, making sure that the colony pilots had already left the area. He slipped his helmet off and let it hang from the pilot suit's collar. As with most of his apparel, the suit was marked with Connect Corp's logo. The company's acquisition by JOTUN was a somewhat guarded secret and his only other option was his old test team one.

With the payment already wired into his account and the Goddess on stand-by receiving very little maintenance work from the Jovian Fleet (a stipulation that he had requested), Fenn moved through the shipping section of the colony and headed towards the city area to kill time.

Corporal Alexis Shwald

Engaging battle

Alexis got a headache. Her head hurt so much that it took her a while to realize what the hell happened to her. Newtypes, just like her. Something other than Ikari. One, two? The enemies? Alexis had no idea. The pain slowed her down, Alexis could only watch as Ikari started dancing with one of the enemy's unit. Alexis counted six other enemy unit, fighting their own fight against their allies that came from behind.

"Damn spacenoids." Alexis grumbled, and chase after one Exia that strayed too far from the rest of his teams. It seems like the pilot decided to stay back and shot the enemy from afar. What a coward, all spacenoids are either that or too damn crazy for their own good. Alexis sent out her funnels out and controlled them toward the Exia. The pilot noticed and quickly maneuvered around, trying to shake it off or shot them down. He twirls and turned in the air, shooting at something that far smaller and far faster than him. The funnels only shoot when the Exia was about to turn, when he have to slow down for a couple of milliseconds. Alexis is using that small window of opportunity very well. It took her a couple of tries before one of her funnels finally managed to land a shot in one of the Exia's leg joint and rendering it useless. The slowed down Exia becomes a very easy target for her funnels, who quickly rain it down with beams.

Much to Alexis's surprise, it still capable of moving. The Exia raised it's gun and pointed it at her, but before it could shot Alexis finished him first. The funnel's beam pieced it's cockpit, and it quietly exploded in space.

"All forces, begin a strategic withdrawal to the ships. Alexis, Athena focus your attention on the smaller Gundams for now. Do what damage you can and then fall back."

Alexis clicked her tongue and started to turn around and started to retreat. She can't push on, not with this amount of fuel. But then she suddenly got a goosebump and instantly pressed a button in her controller, activating the I-field just in time to stop several beam that could've deal a damaged her mobile suit. She looked for the attacker and see a Kampfer, one of the older models, pointing a beam rifle at her. Alexis ignores him, she put her rocket into their maximum output as soon as her funnels returned.

Corporal Leonious Oswald

Engaging battle

Leon was dancing with the enemy. The 4 winged is something produced by spacenoids, it's confused him why would the Feds use something produced by the enemy? He took out his rocket launcher and spent all his rockets on him, trying to get a hit when he noticed a friendly dot disappeared from his radar.

"Kenny?" Leon called out, there's no answer and everything is just static. Leon swore inside his cockpit, he know what happens. That person maybe a coward, but he's a good man and he have a family. He turned back and started looking for whoever shot him down, and noticed that there is another quadwings in the Fed. Man, the Fed sure love spacenoid techs. Leon took out his beam gun and shoot at the quadwing from behind, a killing shot directed at where it's cockpit supposed to be located. But some weird bluish light glows out and easily deflected his beam. The quadwing turned slightly, as if want to see who just try to attack him, before blasting off into the dark space retreating together with the rest of the Feds.

"Dammit, Akito. They killed Kenny!" Leon shouted.

The Quanta watched as one of the Exia units exploded. Akito then watched as the remaining units trans - Am timed out. He saw the three remaining Exia eject their GN Drives and send them back to home in onto the Quintessence. He watched as the Exia suits stopped moving, their pilots had died. Akito then found himself in the white space where the Quantum's converge he saw alll four of the Exia pilots. They didn't say anything they just kept on walking. Then a strange light came from them and entered Akito, they entrusted him with their power though small he appreciated the meaning behind it. Then he was back in the Quanta, the timer on the screen said not a second had passed. Just like that the Quintessence arrived along with a fleet of Baikal class ships from the Republic.

Akito radioed Captain Viola "Have them prepare the 00 gundam and the Raiser. Use the GN Drives our fallen comrades have left us. Let the third GN Drive sit in storage for now." Then the captain replied "Listen I know about the radiation induced disease the Exia pilots had but-"

"It's not about that..... mostly. The Quantum GN Drives aren't yet up to par. I am sending it to the Quantum space so it the Quantum system can become more in tune with it. " Akito said cutting off the Captain. He flew slowly to the Quintessence and midflight the 00 Quanta vanished leaving Akito in space, he activated the vernier thursters on his pilot suit to carry him onto the Mobile Suit deck.

As the enemy got out of range Viola said over the comms "All mobile suit pilots return to your ships. Only the following Ensign Kensei, Ensign Leon, and Ensign Saul have clearance to dock on the Quintessence. We are no longer pursuing the enemy and once recovery efforts and salvaging are done we'll be leaving for Lagrange 1!"

As the GN cloud dissipated Saul found himself able to recollect his senses. He took off his helmet and ran his fingers through his hair.

"...and Ensign Saul have clearance to dock..." Saul grimaced at the misnomer. "That's Mister Rey, Captain. Agent Rey, or just Saul if we're friends. I worked hard to get where I am and I'd appreciate it if you'd address me appropriately." Saul hung up with a huff. Not many things bothered him, but people presuming command over him was a definite sore spot.

Still, it wasn't like him to go off like that. Had the power of the GN particles gotten to him that much? Saul chose not to answer himself as he headed back to the ship. The only thing that had change was the means by which he would attain his goals.

------------

Ikari punched the side of her cockpit and grabbed at the front of her helmet. How had was that damn Gundam so strong? How did it have the power to invade her thoughts like that? She pulled her helmet into her lap and wiped some of the blood off her nose and mouth, not that this accomplished much more than smearing it onto other parts of her face and getting her gloves dirty.

She didn't care. Even with the best JOTUN had to offer she'd still lost and people still died for no reason. The Crossbone locked into it's hanger space and she stepped out onto the catwalk. She needed to become stronger, both as a pilot and a newtype. But before all that, she needed to hit the showers. The blood and sweat look wasn't exactly her favorite.

--------------

"You're sure we can use this?" Captain Kiting looked over the graphs before him with some skepticism. The Ensign nodded.

"Almost positive. Look.." He motioned towards the large spike in the middle of the graph. "This is the focal point of the readings we recieved, you can see a faint distinction in the normal energy readings and our phantom particle that the enemy Gundam seems to be emitting. Using this graph I think that we can actually trace the movements of anything using this drive. But I'll need some more equipment to make sure."

Kiting sat back and folded his arms. "Sounds good to me. Compile any findings you have into a comprehensive report and we'll submit it to Jotunheim when we get back. Lt. Tulsa notify the pilots that we're heading back to Earth side for resupply. We're gonna need bigger guns of we want to take on this force in any meaningful way. In the meantime everyone should get some rest, I get the feeling we've got some work ahead of us."

Corporal Alexis Shwald

She returned in the base, safe and sound and slighly satisfied that she managed to shot down one before that sudden retreat order. She opened her cockpit and float out of it into the catwalk, and watches as Ikari's mobile suit entered the hangar. It doesn't look good and certainly damaged, what kind of beast they are fighting out there? She comes out of her cockpit, obviously look distressed and pissed off. Maybe because she got defeated?

"Ikari." Alexis called out. "Let's go to the medical bay. You know, the usual inspection."

Corporal Leonious Oswald

Leon screamed inside his cockpit, pissed off and disappointed with him self. He's not doing anything useful out there, he's not even there to help a friend. He closed his eyes, catching a sleep as he let the machine to do all the docking automatically. He could hear the staffs knocking from the outside, asking if he's okay or anything, but he's not answering and soon he fall to sleep.

Akito floated around the Mobile Suit deck watching as Saul and Leon returned. Then as the recovery terms went out to collect what they could of the Exias and their pilots. Akito knew he was probably out of a suit until they can stop somewhere to insert the drives into the OO Gundam but he was fine. Then he received an order from Captain Viola to come to the Bridge.

Captain Viola was about to respond to Saul's comment, but then a transmission from the Republic came up on the viewscreen. It was loading at the moment but Captain Viola could tell it was the Colonial Republic again here to ask the Quintessence to officially join the Colonial Republic. They offered her a good deal of becoming a Fleet Admiral as well as access to official Republic assets. In return they want learn more about Gundam Nucleus Drives and use it in their next generation of suits. It seemed like now with the Exia pilots dead it would be the better choice. Viola ordered Akito to the Bridge to be present for the matter, she always trusted his Innovative input. The rest of the crew of the Quintessence were more or less in the middle.

Earth Federation Ship Spectre's Domain.

Sol System Space.

Heading for Mithril HQ hidden in the Mare Imbrium on luna.(Sea of shadows on the moon)

On the bridge, the Ship's regular crew were at work, preparing repots on the fight and battle damage assesments were being forwarded from all departments, Glaive team having faired poorly, losing two of their member,s their ace Jegan Foureyes pilots. Blackburn and Kerensky were among the best assault MS pilots around and they were taken out by that monster of a unit like they were nothing. Eritreus was actually locked in his quarters, writing letters to their families.

Ship's Pilot's Mess.

Tex and Alison are sitting at the table Glaive team usually sits at, heads and eyes downcast silently, reeling from the loss of their two friends and team mates. "God Dang it, Ah cant fuckin believe them are gone!" Says Tex, a tall, burly, blue eyed blond man with sideburns and a goatee style beard wearing the unit's black with red trim variant of the earth forces uniform, as he downs his fourth shot of Jack Daniels old number 7 whiskey. Allison, a small brown haired woman with dark brown eyes and a south American tan, nods, sipping a White Russian, her first and only drink yet. "Ah mean, seriously, what the hell was that darn thing!?" A voice comes from nearby, soft, slightly cold but only because of its owner not being all that normal. "They died fighting... doing their duty, I know it is sad but at least... they can be at peace knowing they did the right thing, right?" They turn to see Glaive six standing there in her custom black-red and gold colored earth forces uniform, no ranks visible anywhere on it as she wasn't actually considered a pilot, on the roster the ponytailed reddish brown and dark eyed young woman was listed as equipment for the Kshatriya Novum. Tex sighs and nods."yer right little lady...c'mere." He waves her over, codename Athena blushes a bit and nod, sitting next to him, Tex gently pats her shoulder. "ya did good, bringing the captain back, fighting that things freaking, whatever it was... I swear ya did!" The young woman nods softly. "I know I... i'm not very well versed in what it is to be, well... Human, I mean I... I'm just a weapon, aren't I?" Both of them blink. Allison shakes her head. "No you aren't not to us, you get me? We're a team and you're a person Athena, ok so none of us know you're real name or if you have one but its ok, we know it's all classified info, just stay strong ok? We can do this and we'll find them and get them back for what they did to Blackburn and Kerensky, ok?" Athena nods shyly, looking around."I-I've never been in ehre before well not like i'm given much freedom..." Tex chuckles. "Well ahm sure yer welcome, would ya like a drink?" Athena nods softly. "Sure...uhm...anything I should try?" Both Alison and Tex smirk, this was gonna be fun.

The ship continues it's route back to the moon with its stealth systems on, optical camouflage active, rendering the ship nearly impossible to detect.

Ikari looked over her shoulder to see Alexis approaching but grasped her head as she spoke. The sound of her voice brought back the head ache she'd been fighting off. Shaking her head a bit she tried to stand up a bit straighter.

"I'm fine, I just need to get some rest. How're you holding up? You got caught in the cloud too didn't you?"

Ikari tried to push the conversation away from herself. She knew that it probably would be for the best to go see the doctor but she hated pretty much anything to do with medicine, hospitals, or so on. More than just hated really, like a pathological fear. She brushed off the thought.

"...And do we know what happened to those other pilots we were with?"

--------------

Aboard the Quintessence the captain's view screen a large, stern looking man with a dark complexion who snapped to a salute as the connection solidified.

"Good Morning Captain. I trust your assignment is going well." He spoke with a booming, imperial sounding tone, not bothering to introduce himself. Not that he had to.

Admiral Maygar had been famous even before the war as both a soldier and ship commander, winning numerous battles against pirates and insurgents throughout the system. Despite this many he was always held back from going any higher because he was a colonist and it seemed he agreed with this sentiment as he was one of the first military commanders to defect to the FCF when the war began, quickly being promoted to the position of fleet admiral and turning his legendary skills against his former employers. If a living legend had been sent to contact them directly, it was clear the republic was serious about what they had to say.

"I've been asked by the Head office of the republican navy to request that you reconsider our earlier offer to formally join our cause. We understand your apprehensions in this matter but we think it would be in both our best interests. Know that the war is entering a new phase, as combat continues to escalate we will regretfully no longer be able to dispatch troops to assist the force should you choose to decline. With this in mind we await a definitive answer upon your arrival at Altoma. Maygar out."

With a final salute the message ended.

Captain Viola could tell it was a pre recorded message by the way Fleet Admiral Maygar saluted before her. Normally it would be her duty to issue a salute first. Akito arrived around the end of the message. Captain Viola rotated her chair to face him. Akito stood at attention and saluted. Viola then gave the command "At Ease!" Akito then began to speak "Are you going to say yes?" Akito asked. Viola looked at Akito and then began to explain. "I am not sure it seems like the better decision with the other pilots and we shall not turn to the Bolivar Fleet. This war is entering a new phase and both the Republic and the Fleet are both trying to assimilate all these smaller factions of the FCF. The Colonial Republic provides good incentive but they want use pseudo GN Drives since a true Solar Reactor takes time to make, the kind of time they only reserve for custom prototypes suits of Ace Pilots like yourself, Rey, and Oswald."

Another entered the room, everyone knew his face as one of the greatest mobile suit developers. He managed to fill the gaps in the Exia data and ever the OO Gundam along with the O Raiser. He also worked with Kensei's parents with GN Drive technology before the Belt Incident, Spencer Allen. "The problem Captain Viola is referring to Akito is the same thing that killed the Exia pilots. A sub group of Researcher on GN Drives outside of the main group I and your parents were apart of were working on a faster way to build Solar Reactors. They came up the Pseudo GN Drives, during the Belt Incident that drive exploded exposing the four Exia pilots to its particles. The thing is those particles were incomplete and gave them a terminal diease we call Particle Radiation Cancer or PCR. They fought and we helped them fight it as long as they could but there's nothing we could do to cure it. Even since then we locked away that research. But the Colonial Republic now wants to use that in their next line of Mass Produced suits. Now do you see our Captain's dilemma?"

Akito's eyes widened and he put his hand on his head not sure what he was hearing. "You mean this whole time, they knew they were going to die. Is that why they pushed me away? Is that why they always fought so recklessly?" Spencer put his hand on Akito's back. "Yes they didn't want you to become so attached, but I guess the grief was all the same."

Spencer turned to the Captain. "Viola, I think you should say yes but with a list of terms. When it comes to the GN Drives tell them that I should head the research and development when it comes to such matters. I am a top rate mobile weapon developer and researcher. They'll have to say yes. I believe I can complete the Pseudo particles they won't by like the Pure particles of the True GN Drives but the won't be causing PCR. They offered you a good position so they'll have to offer a good one to me as well. They wouldn't pass up such a furnace to acquire my services for their next generation of mobile suits. Though of course that'll mean I'll likely have to leave the ship, Ms. Parbat is more then capable of being Head Mechanic."

Viola seemed to wiped something from her face with her glove. She seemed to take a moment to regain her composure. "I guess this means we're in agreement." Then one of the Operators in the Bridge reported the recovery team is finished. Captain Viola then stood up and commanded "Quintessence full speed to Lagrange 1! Maintain GN Particle dispersal and Optical camouflage!" She then sat down.

Spencer Allen walked over to the one side of the bridge looking outside a window. "You know I think they already have that position waiting for me and someone capable for me to work with. You see these ships are Baikal Class I have seen their plans before, they're supposed to use GN Drives but somehow they must have built them without the Drives, you can tell how incomplete the ships are just by looking at them."

Akito then left the Bridge he needed some sleep, it would be a while before they reach Lagrange 1. Before he left the Brisge he heard Allen say "You should acquaint yourself with those two pilots, something tells me they may be sticking around."

Lagrange 1 "Latoma"

5:55 GMT

Chomp. Munch.

Fenn popped animal crackers into his mouth as he continued walking down the busy streets of Altoma's commercial district. It wasn't exactly his first choice when it came to downtime, especially with the colony's proximity to the Moon and one of the JOTUN Test Team's hidden hangars. However, his involvement in the whole ordeal was rather confidential and walking around in public was usually pretty safe.

In one hand was a plastic bag filled to the brim with boxes of animal crackers and he squeezed an open box against his sides with his arm. Aside from 'rations' he had also arranged for a resupply of E-pacs and two canisters of beam dispersion chaff. These would be sealed in crates and hidden somewhere in the same hangar where the Jovian Fleet docked.

A brief mention of the FIPS during a debate between talking heads on some news channel caught Fenn's attention as he passed by the small electronics shop. By this point, he had already made his way into the older parts of the district. Somewhat curious, the traitor to destiny entered the small shop and rummaged through the scrap bins.

The 'debate' was really just the guest correspondents taking turns verbally pushing the FIPS representative into a corner. Fenn had never visited Earth, nor did he have any interest in doing so. His place was among the stars and debris fields, at least that's what he never questioned.

"Mister, how much for this thing?" Fenn asked the old man at the counter as he carefully pulled out a large, spherical object from the bin. The shell was covered in scratches and dents and it seemed like the internal circuitry had been damaged by shoddy repairs and a long life in the rough parts of the galaxy.

"Ah, that thing huh? 10 credits, never could get it running." He harrumphed and pulled a newspaper back up in front of his face. Shrugging, Fenn picked out a combination of new and old parts that looked like they belonged in the ball. He paid with his forged ID loaded with funds and left the store.

U.E.L.N Arcadia

Approaching Africa Tower, Earth

10:00 GMT

Captain Francis Kiting gave a sigh of relief as the Orbital elevator came into view. He sent a connection signal to the tower and waited for a response. After a moment a video screen appeared with a rather chipper looking receptionist on the other end. With another few button presses a smaller screen with numerous seemingly random letters and numbers appeared and the captain began to speak.

"Good morning Africa tower, this is Captain Kiting of the UELN Arcadia requesting clearance to dock. Authorization code is Beta-Epsilon-Phi-7-9-13-22-11-0, Clear."

The receptionist looked down at another monitor on her desk before smiling widely.

"Good morning Arcadia, your docking request is cleared. Glad to have you home." With that the image disappeared from the view screen and slouched back down in his chair. There were a lot more ships gathered in orbit than usual. Something big was going down, and he had a feeling they were going to find out what it was soon enough. After a few minutes the ship latched onto one of the external lifts and lowered down towards the Earth.

The central African territories had been a point of contention for the League since its founding, and the forced relocation of thousands to build the Africa tower hadn't exactly smoothed things over. In spite of this, a relatively well developed urban center had sprung up in the tower's shadow thanks to the countless jobs it provided in the construction, logistics, military, and tourism sectors. All told things were fairly well off in comparison to the rest of the region. But the war had put a bit of a damper on things in recent time, as soldiers had taken over large parts of the city and completely shut down tourism within the tower itself. Understandably all this was starting to bring back some old animosity towards the league.

--------------------

Ikari Stretched a bit as she stepped off the ship and onto the drydock. It was good to be back on Earth even if this wasn't the first place she'd pick for a vacation spot. She felt bad about leaving the Lieutenant behind, but he'd insisted that she go ahead and enjoy herself. They didn't exactly get shore leave all that often and it would be a waste if she didn't use it.

Still, this led to the new issue that she didn't have any idea what to do. Zangaro wasn't exactly a prime tourist location these days, and even if it was, she'd already used their big draw as her way in.

With something of a shrug she made her way out into the base. She'd come up with something while she was out, anything was better than just standing around.

U.E.L.N. Spectre's Domain

Africa Tower

Earth

10:00 GMT

While the Arcadia lowered down, another platform moved shortly after it, a platform holding a massive Revil Class battlecarrier with some curious modifications. The black and red hull had the moniker Spectre;s Domain written on it as well as its registry and identification numbers, on the side of the hull, near the main hangar doors, could be seen the Mithril special operations command logo aside the JOTUN logo as Mihril was an even more secret and specialized branch of JOTUN.

once the ship Settled down, some crew began disembarking, among them, a plainly clad young woman wearing shades, a ballcap, cargo pants, a t-shirt and a vest, looking pretty nondescript, if it weren't for the very intricate tattoo like patterns in her skin, which, if anyone would test for Ink, would find only colored skin cells, actual pigmented cells, naturally that color. She is accompanied by a tall muscular Blond man and a small, pretty brunette, the two former leading the latter around the place, passing nearby the woman named Ikari, as they did, the newtype could definitely sense something from the group, from the woman in the ballcap specifically.

Corporal Alexis Shwald

"Something invaded my mind, a strong presence. At least we now know what kind of opponent we face." Alexis shook her head. "I saw another Khasatriya, more or less the same type as my Evalach. As long as i know, there's only one other Khasatriya in the Federation as long as i know. It belongs to an ace pilot, don't really know about the pilot."

After the chat, Alexis went to the medical bay for her check up and sleep in her room. She woke up when she felt the whole ship shook, as it entered the Earth atmosphere. She stood by the window, seems like they are going to descend toward Africa. North from it, is Europe, and Alexis could see a black and dark part where the bomb exploded and completely destroyed Berlin and nearby cities. Many people killed in the explosion, including her family...

Alexis took a deep sigh and decided to go out of the room, heading toward the canteen to grab some food. She was floating when the gravity comes back, dropping her to the ground. She continued by walking.

Corporal Leonious Oswald

He felt better now. Kenny's death is just one of his many faults that he can never fix, but he could do something to prevent it from happening again. He punched himself and the pain makes him forget about Kenny's death. He has to move on, and what's better than some alcohol? Leon's pretty sure that the Capt or no one is going to scold him. Well, he knew that his drunk self is can be a little bit bothersome especially when he started picking a fight with anyone. But hey, people could use some quick exercise?

So Leon jumps out of his cockpit and let the momentum takes him toward one of the ship's hallway, and make his way toward the canteen where they keep the good stuff.

Akito was awoken by the sound of the ship docking and by the return of gravity as the Quintessence had finally arrived in Altoma. Akito yawned and then jumped out of bed, he put on his normal clothing which did not consist of a shirt. He also made sure to grab his gun and holstered it, it was more of a habit then intention now almost instinct. Akito exited his quarters and saw Leon floating by, he briefly followed Leon to the cantine. Once Akito had a good idea of what he was going to do then he spoke up. "I won't stop you on this one. But when one drowns their sorrows with alcohol they only get worse and so does their health. This is not hpw they wanted us to deal with their deaths and they had a pretty specfic idea of how they wanted us to take their deaths! They wouldn't want this Ensign Oswald not this. If you remember Kenny always stressed how important it was to keep our bodies healthy because fate gave him a dying one. He had PCR and wanted to die doing what he believed in. Now you can go into that Cantine or you can come with me to accompany the Captain." With that Akito turned and walked away.

Captain Viola was out on the dock with the crew or the Quintessence assembled behind her. They stood in a simple row and column formation at Parade Rest. The inspection of the ship had already taken place so they simply waited for Fleet Admiral Maygar to come meet them. He'd likely take them to a mass debriefing room to swear them in as members of the Colonial Republic. Akito was quickly joined the rest of the crew though a little late.He hoped Oswald would join them and if Rey is here despite both already being Colonial Republic or at least he thinks they are.

Akito gave Leon a preach before continue his way to the dock to meet the captain. For what reason, Leon does not care. He continued to the canteen and make his way inside the kitchen, glaring at the kitchen staff who are too scared to stop him. He opened one of the refrigerators and grabbed a nice cold alcohol. He opened it on his way to the dock, grinned at Akito, Captain Viola, and anyone else inside the dock and drank it right in front of them.

"Drowns their sorrow with alcohol?" Leon laughs. "Death is something natural. Kenny is dead because he decided to stay behind and attack from behind. I'm sad because he's dead, yes, but i'm not that sad."

"If you say so." Akito replied. As a Representative from the Colonial Republic Viola communicated that Oswald was not a member of the Quantum Force. The Representative told them to follow, they were lead through a few halls and a short intercolony cart ride later they were in a large room with lots of chairs and an isle leading up to a podium. The Representative stood at the front of the room and began explaining."Fleet Admiral Maygar will join us soon if not then he'll swing by your ship later. Now this war is escalating to whole new phase which is why the Colonial Republic is increasing its official assests while having to stop supporting unofficial ones. Can your leader Captain Viola step forward, Pilot Akito Kensei, and Professor Spencer Allen as well?"

The three of them walked to the front of the room before the podium. "Captain Viola of the Quantum Force, we offer you the position of Fleet Admiral, the opportunity to lead one of our elite fleets, and in return you share your technology with us. For Spencer Allen we received the terms for him ahead of time and offer him the position he asked for. For Pilot Akito Kensei, we understand you're a unique newtype so we must interview you, get you on record, and run a few tests but we offer you the position of Lieutenant." The Representative explained laying it all out.

Viola replied "We accept."

"Good now we are sure your crew are up to par but we must interview them as well, standard procedure for new acquisitions. But while we finalize all this, you can return to your ship. We'll be sendinf a few of our people over to interview and swear you guys in. We'll get you into our system then we'll issue you your IDs, uniforms, and what not. Then we'll work the next set of details. But welcome to the Colonial Republic." The Representative finished before he exited the room.

There really wasn't much to do in Zangaro at all, truth be told. One could visit the bombed out remains of the former capital city and main port of Clarence, the emptied but still fairly impressive platinum mines that brought about a small civil war when discovered way back when and go in safaris to sightsee what remained of the thinning wildlife. If one paid extra, one could also get to shoot something dead to maybe compensate about some perceived deficiency, but that was about it. Shannon Base itself wasn't terribly impressive either. An old infantry training ground established before construction of the tower began, it had survived by some cosmic happenstance and been refurbished to its current form.

Its remoteness, however, afforded the crew some benefits. Mainly, that no one really seemed to give a crap about what they did as long as they completed requested test runs in a timely fashion and didn't wreck things meant to be in one piece. While the once famed Leopold Creighton wasn't exactly happy with his current situation, he made the best out of it. He'd made friends, had a mobile suit customized to suit his needs and his ample free time had allowed him to work on a project motorcycle, which he also often loudly rode around the base and the surrounding population centers. He was, in fact, doing laps around the base when Ikari Romano arrived. He figured it might be a while till he got to do it again.

Romano would likely hear him before she saw the cruiser bike make a sharp turn around the corner of a warehouse at a military base. Her newtype abilities, however, would ring no alarm bells. Whatever this was, it was completely normal. The old Diehard, meanwhile, was deep in thought behind the wheel. He had no idea what to expect. They hadn't told him much, as usual. Just that something had gone FUBAR and that he was ordered to provide support to a JOTUN taskforce. Things must've been really messed up if they came to him like that. And this woman, tall, stiff and wearing flashy clothes that further made her stand out like a sore thumb, had to be whoever they sent to pick him up.

He began to slow his ride down, honking his horn at the woman as he approached just in case. Might as well make sure they wouldn't have a stupid accident. As the bike came to a halt in front of Ikari, the rider took off his helmet to reveal his grizzled features. He didn't recognize the newcomer, didn't think he'd trained her, so he decided to play dumb. Nevermind that he was still fairly well known and his jacket had his personal lion's head insignia sewn over the heart. Wasn't the first time someone walked into base to run into an older man in a leather jacket using a military facility as a practice track. It left them fairly dumbfounded. "Yes? Can I help you, lady?", he asked the newcomer.

@thekinginyellow

A chill ran down Ikari's spine as the group from the new ship passed by, looking back at as the group passed by she paused. She could tell right away it was another newtype, she'd experienced that feeling enough to not even need a second look. But this one felt familiar some how, she focused and tried to remember where she had felt it before.

He thoughts were interrupted, however, as an old man on a motorbike appeared out of nowhere and started casing her. She stared back at him for a moment until he took off his helmet and spoke.

"Yes? Can I help you, lady?"

That was a new one. From how he was dressed, she assumed he must be another one of the many 'famous' aces of the marines were churning out these days. It seemed like everyone with two kills to their name suddenly had some fancy title and a custom paint job. But for the life of her, she'd never met one with an ego so swollen that they thought it was ok to address a JOTUN officer as 'lady'.

"No, I don't think you can." Visibly annoyed she motioned to the JOTUN skull pinned on her collar. "Although I'd appreciate it if you'd make a point to refer to me as Lieutenant from now on. Ma'am is fine too if that's too many syllables for you, and while we're on the subject who exactly are you and why are you parading around a military base on what is clearly civilian transport?" She eyed him up and down to try and figure out for herself what this guy's deal was. The lion mark on his jacket looked sort of familiar, but she disregarded it pretty much immediately. No one important go assigned to a place like this, and if the did then they probably weren't important anymore. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling.

-----------

Saul watched as the former QF left the negotiations room, sighing as the last of them disappeared before looking over to the minister who had overseen the proceedings. After a moment of silence he decided to speak up.

"So. Fleet Admiral, huh?" Saul named the rank with an almost sarcastic tone, resting his head on one hand.

"They wouldn't negotiate for anything less. But we need those drives if we want to have a shot at winning this war." He sounded almost defeated as he acknowledged this fact. Saul simply rolled his eyes, the man felt his pride had been wounded by letting what he saw as glorified mercenaries into his 'dignified' military, apparently oblivious to the fact that everyone of his soldiers had already chosen to commit treason against their government in order to support his own.

"Any word on the winning number." Saul asked out of morbid curiosity. The Minister paused for a moment, as if thinking how best to explain before simply answering.

"Fleet 9." The answer was blunt and Saul scoffed and stifled a laugh.

"Brilliant. isn't that the one..." The minister held out his hand to cut him off.

"Yes. The very same, however we felt that this would help us kill two birds with one proverbial stone..." The old man poured some tea as he continued to explain. "Since Admiral Wan Li's tragic demise a little over a month ago we've been having a rather difficult time finding a suitable officer to replace him. The Head felt that this would be the perfect time to sweep up a relatively promising ship commander for the position as well as secure the GN drive technology for our personal use. While admittedly the fleet isn't quite at full capacity..."

"3 ships." Saul stated snidely.

"4 ships..." the minister corrected him before continuing."...The fleet will receive reinforcements as they become available, additionally the remaining ships are all Baikal-class. Once they are retrofitted with GN drives they will be operating well above what their numbers may imply." The old man took a sip from his cup as he finished.

"Well, I'd love to see how she reacts to this wonderful explanation, but I've completed my end of this bargin, so if you'll excuse me..." Saul began making his way towards the door only for a man with an envelope to stop him. The minister continued to speak.

"I'm afraid you aren't quite done yet." Saul took the envelope and opened it. "For reasons that elude me, our mutual employer has requested that you remain a member of the quintessence crew for a while longer. For this purpose you will be issued a uniform and a provisional rank of Lieutenant, beneath our new admiral." Saul looked furiously at the papers before him and then back to the minister.

"That.. This is.. I need to speak to.." The minister cut him off again.

"I've already done that. He was as cryptic as always and was adamant that this was important. He was also fairly keen on explaining that he was going to be busy for some time and that we shouldn't bother him. If we need to speak, he will call us." Saul crumpled the papers in a show of impotent anger and growled before calming himself. Running a hand through his hair he took a moment to think.

"Fine. But I have some terms of my own. Firstly, see about getting me one of those new faux GN drives, the Sazabi is powerful, but our enemies are catching up. Second, offer that Leon guy a position on the ship too, I'm almost fond of him." The Minister nodded in agreement. "Lastly, do we have any uniforms that come in red?"

----------------------

From there on, the welcoming ceremony was mostly.. Ceremonial. A lot of important looking people wearing nice clothes showed up to watch the QF be handed their uniforms and badges and some politician Saul didn't recognize gave a speech about unity between spacenoids and expanding the republic. It was all rather boring all things considered. The entire time Saul couldn't stop looking down at his uniform and more specifically the badge that marked him as a lieutenant. On the few occasions he did look up it felt like the world was moving around him. Eventually the speeches stopped and he noticed Akito and... ugh.. the Admiral talking. IT was going to take some time to get used to referring to people by rank. Still, in an effort to shake himself out of his funk he approached them.

"So I guess we're a proper team now, huh?"

"Where is Professor Allen?" Akito asked Viola. The new Fleet Admiral chuckled a bit which to Akito was a little creepy for reasons not yet know." He said he wanted to get a jump start on his work and that he may have found a way to make non toxic pseudo GN Particles. That and that he needed to make sure the team they assigned him read the basic info on GN Drives he forwarded to the Republic." Then Saul approached while Viola bid farewell and moved to other matters.

"I guess we are a proper team." Akito replied. "I heard that pilots who hold the rank of Lieutenant or higher are considered ace pilots and are to eventually get a machine that is not a regular mass produced suit. Well I never used one anyway but I think mine has just arrived." Akito pointed to large cart like vehicle with the OO Gundam strapped down to it, the O Raiser was flown in by a mechanic right after. He could her Amanda Parbat yelling within the Mobile suit deck, probably the delivery crew didn't know they have to insert the GN Drives before they lock it up.

----------------------------

Meanwhile Professor Allen new head of the Gundam Nucleus Research Team(GNRT) was explaining his plan to improve the pseudo solar reactor. "The GN Drive Tau has some other problems besides the toxic particles. It's particle production rate is slower and its particle purity is lower when compared to standard GN Drive. But regular drives need a TD Blanket which can only be made near the atmosphere of a Gas planet aka Jupiter. So normal GN Drives are being reserved for Ace Pilots and Newtype pilots. The reason being that the high purity of GN Particles can leave to the evolution of more newtypes and even Innovators who are able to combine their newtype power with the particles.

Now I believe I have found out how to make better pseudo particles. The team before us used a small energy converter to replace the TD Blanket. But what if we used one the size of the TD Blanket in the Drive area was but decrease the thickness so we can add other support tech increase particle production but we have to remove the GN Condensors within the drive so that means GN Drive Tau will lack Trans AM. "

"Any questions? I'll even accept questions about stutf in the basic info I sent to the Republic." Allen finished.

@thekinginyellow (I thought it'd be cool if we RPed so me of the progress on the Research team, get a little mobile suit science in there, ( ;) ))

Leon is not used with wearing the new uniform, so after the ceremony and sleeping through the whole speech, he took off his jacket and tied it around his waist. He wore the army pin on his white shirt and walked around aimlessly until he see Saul and Akito talking nearby.

"Sup~" Leon greeted, grinning at them. "Man, they asked us to call each other by rank and formally now. There's a lot of rules that i have to follow... I don't remember any of them, thought. It's not like that i care about any of it, i'm probably going to be punished a lot haha!"

"Not like that i care. They could ground me for a month, i'll just go back home and work as a mailman or something." Leon added.

Leopold Creighton had few joys in life of late, but messing with overly stiff JOTUN officers was still as fun as ever. He idly considered not doing it to gain some favor but it went against everything he believed in. "Oh, this?" he said, patting the bike's gas tank and revving up its engine. "It's a personal project, something to do during time off. R&R's important, don't you know? It's better for soldiers to be nice and relaxed". Finally, he turned the bike off and stood up in front of the lieutenant. He doubted she was the type to be pressured just because he was tall and obviously athletic, but he figured looking down at her literally and figuratively might have an effect. "I'm not about to call someone not past age of majority "ma'am", lieutenant", he said, making sure to punctuate with actual air quotes.

"As for who I am, hang on a second..." he started shuffling through his inner pockets, looking for the old badge. He liked to carry it around, not necessarily as a reminder of happy times but it was still a mark of accomplishment. Finally, after what probably seemed like too long a pause, he found it and handed it over to the woman. "Since I can't help you, I'm going to go see if I can do something for the other group. That'd be the mess and rec hall, you'll find everyone else there. I'm sure someone can assist you. Welcome to Shannon Base". He pointed towards a small structure before he walked off towards the other group. He didn't even bother to mention that everyone was on break, likely lazing around much like he was. No reason to do anything else.

Lots of visitors today, didn't bode well, he thought as he walked towards the other group. "Hey! Can I help you?" he screamed at them as he approached. The badge he'd handed to Ikari was similar to her own skull pin, except it was an older design and had clearly seen better days. The skull had a crosshair over the forehead and was flanked by a pair of knives, and it denoted the holder as a lieutenant as well. It read "JOTUN Mobile Suit Instructor Corps". The proud few considered worthy to whip the elite taskforce into proper shape.

near Africa tower.

Tex turned, seeing the tall older man coming over, they had heard the bike and looked at it some but didn't really pay much attention. The three were in civilian clothes but had their Mithril and JOTUN badge-pins on their collars just in case. Alice blinks a moment then shrugged to codename Athena before turning to him and smiling. "Sure, we just got off our ship, told to get some R&R after our debrief, you know where the main Mess is sir?" She asks, being polite, in case he was some higher rank, Tex and Alices badges showed ranks, Lieutenant for both, oddly though no rank showed on Athenas but they were colored with the kind of edging only high rank officers got despite the lack of rank. The latter simply stood silently, looking around a bit, her eyes still covered by the large shades, cap on low.

Aboard the Spectres Domain

The maintenance crews aboard the ship were working to swiftly repair and resupply the damaged mobile suits of Glaive teams surviving members while Eritreus finished up the letters so he could get ready and go meet his team for the debrief so everyone knew what the hell was going on and what to do. He files the copies of the letters he wrote and then sent them off for approval and signature from command so they could be mailed to the families of the two lost pilots. Once done, he goes to his closet and gets his clothes ready, before stripping down and taking a quick shower to freshen up, when all was said and done, he comes out of his quarters wearing denim cargo pants, combat boots, fingerless gloves, Quattro Bajeena style shades, a black muscle-shirt and a denim jacket with his pins on the collar, he heads off towards the nearest exit so he can make his way to the meeting area.

Leo smiled at the newcomers. Maybe something had really gone so wrong that they came to the closest facility to catch a breather, but he knew someone would be there to pick him up. Still, at least they weren't so stiff save for that one with the cap and shades, didn't cop an attitude, so that was good. He pointed with his thumb towards the same building he'd pointed at before. "That'd be the mess and rec hall, everyone else will be there, mind. Too much free time and not much to do around these parts beyond a few tours and the ocassional safari so we make do here". He then pointed towards Ikari. "A friend of yours? It's not often we get so many visitors to Shannon Base. Anything happen?".

Alice shrugs softly. "Still classified far as I know, it was rough and we just want to find a place to sit, drink and remember the fall, is that is allright." She states in a calm fashion, meanwhile Tex looks to the young woman. "Nope, aint got much of an idea who she is though, she is damn fine lookin, if a bit young!" he states with a chuckle, Alie pokes him in the ribs. "You got a girl back home Tex!" he guffaws and nods. "Yeah ah sure do!" Alice shakes her head. "uhm...shouldn't we head to the meeting place now then?" Asks Athena meekly, Alice and Tex turn to her nodding in unison. "Yes, we should... lets go then, thanks for the directions." She says to the newcomer as they begin to make their way to the mess.

Fenn Telwick

Lagrange 1 Altoma

10:25 GMT

Fenn rolled off the cushy hotel bed and landed flat on his face. Groggily, the man picked himself up and yawned. Three months of hiding out in a shoal zone and taking escort misisons had really done a number on his sleep cycle. The spherical object lay on a table, about half of the damaged components were replaced. For now, he'd be spending his time secluded in some out of the way hotel until he could find another ship to hitch a ride on back to the shoal zone.

The ex-test pilot took a seat at the table and picked up a flashlight. It was apparent that the thing was ancient - several of the key components were manufactured by companies that predated the colonies. What was more interesting, however, was the central module. Even though the object wasn't functioning there was still a slight glow to it, almost as if it had been hibernating this entire time.

"Hmm. Looks like these flaps are used for mobility? No miniature thrusters though." He leaned back and sighed. Restoration would probably take a while, but the sheer oddity of the piece was enough to keep Fenn's attention.
