Origins
The story takes place in a new continuity. Henceforth, all following Guild of Heroes roleplays will be part of this same continuity unless stated otherwise. This continuity is different from any other Guild of Heroes roleplays thus far. This is a new universe, and all action that will take place in it is separate from all other Guild of Heroes stories to this point.
The story takes place on the planet of Gaia, a world in the medieval period, filled with magic and mythical beasts. More details in the next tab.
EPISODE 1: LONG LIVE THE KING!
The stalwart kingdom of Albion, founded by king Othamundiir over four-hundred years ago following a bloody war, was in an age of prosperity, open to trade by land and by sea with its neighbors in the land of Gael. Other than yearly skirmishes on the border with Urgash, it was unmolested by any conflict.
But our world is one that self-balances itself, fluctuating constantly. If chaos rules the wasteland, then the people will raise a civilization. If society is too widespread, then chaos will crush it. If a kingdom is in a state of tranquility and peace, then evil will rise to the challenge. If evil triumphs and conquers the world, then heroes will rise and conquer it.
Adrucil, the king's own son, killed his father to take the crown. At first, people ignored this too. A coup d'etat? Unfortunate, and yet, nothing disastrous.
But greed does terrifying things to a man's heart. Adrucil, wanting to become an eternal ruler, burned the town of Syrta and funneled the souls of the citizens into a phylactery, ascending into lichdom. After the tragedy, the kingdom was thrown into civil war. Adrucil, who had now renamed himself Turenval, battled the opposition of his faction sternly, trying to bring all of Albion under his sway.
Among the opposition were a few valiant souls, trying to fix the imbalance plaguing the world. This is the story of their exploits and the legacy they will leave behind.
The story is character-focused. This isn't the story of a lich taking over Albion - this is the story of the formation, operation, and legacy of a Guild of Heroes, and it may well go on for many years. In other words, the characters will be the centerpiece of this roleplay and creating them with surgical precision and thoughtful intent is critical if this is to go anywhere.
I will allow most any kind of character to be created, within logical limits of the universe. I don't want gun-toting SWAT team members here, but a pirate with a flintlock pistol is fine. If you have an idea, feel free to present it.
Believe it or not, I learn from mistakes, there will be an initial character limit of one character per player, in addition to limiting the maximum number of players to seven. This will last until Episode 1 is over, after which more spots will be gradually opened up.
As I am a believer in that good players make up the meat of a good roleplay, I will prioritize the membership of players that post often and I know for their reliability. This is a list of priority players; if any of them expresses a desire to join, non-priority players will be consequently restricted from joining to make place.
Please, note that exceptions may be made to these regulations.
