So this is Love?
♬ What are the Relationship and Diplomacy Journals?
Basically a set of diary entries to show how your character thinks and feels about the other characters and countries in the RP. Because we have an unusually high emphasis on inter-character relationships and international relations, we thought it would be a fun way to keep track of changes over time. The Journal can also be used to help you figure out which kinds of relationships you want to pursue with which characters (if you want romance, friendship, rivalry, or none).
♬ When do I fill out the Relationship Journal?
Ideally you should have the Journal filled out before the RP begins, so please try and fill it out as quickly as possible. The Journals will also be updated after arcs / chapters, which will be signified by the GMs. We may or may not put each new update in a separate post to see how things are changing over time (it hasn't been decided yet).
♬ How do I get the Relationship Journal?
After your character is officially accepted into the RP you will be allowed to post their CS into the 'Guest Rooms' forum with impunity. At this point you will either be expected to (for Representatives / royals) or have the option to create 2 separate posts underneath your CS. The first of these will be the Relationship Journal. The second will be the Diplomacy Journal. For an example you can always check one of the GMs' Characters.
♬ How do I fill out the Relationship Journal?
In order to fill out the Relationship Journal, all you have to do is highlight and color the hearts / stars on the Attraction Scales and add in a bit of first person thoughts about the other character from your character's perspective. Like mini diary entries. There is an example of how this chart should look at the bottom of the profile skeleton. If that isn't clear, you can also look at any of the GM-made characters to see how we filled out our sheets.
♬ How do I fill out the Diplomacy Journal?
In order to fill out the Diplomacy Journal, all you have to do is write your character's thoughts on each county in the first person. This can align with their nation's official political views or not. Try and include some of the rational behind their opinions. There is an example of how this chart should look at the bottom of the profile skeleton. If that isn't clear, you can also look at any of the GM-made characters to see how we filled out our sheets.
♬ What do I put if my character would have no way of knowing the other character yet?
If you are royalty, your character will know all of the other royals! Even if they have only met once or twice, or just heard rumors about them, your character will be aware of all others with royal blood. For non-royals, in these instances, first be sure to check that your character actually does not know the other character. Think about things such as countries, dance events, political functions, markets, and any other likely places where characters would meet and interact. If you have checked all of these and do not share any with the other character, you can leave the Attraction Scales blank and in the comment about how you do not know the person (ie: "I haven't met them yet."). Try to plot as much as possible, though!
♬ How do the Attraction Scales work?
Basically you will color the hearts / stars to show how attracted (whether romantically or as friends) your character is to the other. It's important to think of these as showing potentiality. Therefore your character might not actually be friends with or romantically involved with another, but may still want to pursue that type of relationship. So if you have low hearts it means your character has a low chance of pursuing a romantic relationship with the other, but it is not necessarily a measure of hatred. So you could have very low hearts because your character isn't attracted to that character, but very high stars because they still consider them a likable person or would like to be their friend. Or visa versa.
For scale, 5 is the neutral level, not 1! Less than 5 is abnormally dislikes (ie: "Not a chance!"), and more than 5 is abnormally likes (ie: "Please be my friend!").
Example of what the Heart Scale might mean:
- Out of the infinite multiverses there is maybe, at most, one where you would be romantically involved with this person. It ain't this one.
- You would rather date a twig than this person.
- You would really rather not be romantically involved with this person.
- You would rather not be romantically involved with this person.
- You could either be romantically involved with them or not.
- You would like to be romantically involved but it's not the biggest priority.
- You would really like to be romantically involved.
- You spend way too much time thinking about how much you are attracted to this person.
- You have a shrine built for this person in the corner of your room.
- You would kill a child to date this person.
♬ When is it okay to leave the Attraction Scale blank?
It should only be blank if your character hasn't encountered the other in the RP yet. The only other exception is for Hearts, if it lies outside of your character's sexuality then you have the option to fill it in or not. Otherwise everyone should have at least 1 Heart / Star.
♬ My phone / tablet isn't allowing me to see / edit the hearts / stars!
There is an issue with the hearts coming up as emoji on some systems which I have been meaning to try and fix but it's gonna be a headache with coding so it will probably have to wait. If that's the reason you haven't filled it out yet, just tell the GMs so we're aware.
Some helpful strategies to try and work around this problem:
-Copy and paste from someone else's CS and edit from there
-Go into the BBC editor and use color tags if you have access / know how
In a worst case scenario you can PM me (@Pretzel Heart) your list, and I will edit it in for you.
