- plot
there's a very very very loose plot. basically it's just doctors, nurses, and interns at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Main cast exists in this universe but the thread takes place about 2 years after the show events, so main cast won't really be talked about or seen much. There will be love, lust, and heatbreak along with a good dose of angst here and there.
- setting
Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is a Level I Advanced Trauma Center and teaching hospital in Seattle, Washington. It was formerly known as Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. Established in 2013, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is distinct as it is owned and run by doctors. Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital was formed by the new board of directors, the survivors of the plane crash, plus Callie and Jackson in Transplant Wasteland when they decided to rename the hospital as part of their new image for the hospital. The name honors the very reason they have the hospital in the first place and memorializes the two doctors killed in the plane crash, Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan. The building has been renamed twice: It was initially Seattle Grace Hospital, then became Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital after merging with Mercy West Medical Center, and finally was renamed Grey Sloan Memorial after the plane crash survivors and the Harper Avery Foundation bought it.
- roles
CHIEF 1/1
☤ Chief of surgery — A chief of surgery (also called head surgeon or chief surgeon) is an attending surgeon in a senior management position at a hospital or other medical institution. In many institutions, it is the title of the most senior surgeon, but it may also be used as the title of the most senior surgeon of a particular department within a larger institution. A chief surgeon generally is in charge of surgical matters and often is the superior of other surgeons (including consultants or attending surgeons), but may also be in charge of other professional groups and areas of responsibility.
HEADS 1/7
An attending can also be the head of a department. A head is also known as a department chief. As the department head/chief, they are the senior-most physician or surgeon of a specialized service within a hospital. They generally supervise other attending working within their service and are responsible for all medical and surgical staff within their department.
☤ Head of General Surgery 0/1 — General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs, such as the intestines, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, duodenum, kidneys, bile ducts and organs annex; Endocrine organs, such as the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands and the adrenal glands; blood vessels, such as the abdominal aorta and other abdominal related problems such as hernias and abscesses.
☤ Head of Neurosurgery 0/1— Neurosurgery is a surgical specialty focused on treating the nervous system including the spinal cord and the brain.
☤ Head of Plastic Surgery 0/1 — Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function, and can deal with problems such as burns, surgery on hands and limbs and aesthetic surgery.
☤ Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery 0/1 — Cardiothoracic surgery is a surgical specialty treating diseases and trauma affecting organs inside the thorax including the lungs, heart, trachea, bronchi and thoracic diaphragm.
☤ Head of Orthopedic Surgery 0/1 — Orthopedic surgery is a surgical specialty concerned with conditions involving bones and muscle (the musculoskeletal system) performing surgery on joints (hips, knees, elbows, shoulders), the spine and hands to treat trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital conditions. This specialty has strong links with trauma surgery and emergency medicine and is practiced mainly in the ER and the OR. Surgeons practicing this specialty are known as orthopedic surgeons. However, colloquially, orthopedic surgeons are also known as orthopods. Orthopedic Sports Medicine is a surgical sub-speciality of orthopedic surgery that focuses on the health of an athlete through investigation, preservation, and restoration by medical, surgical, and rehabilitative means to all structures of the musculoskeletal system affected by athletic activity.
☤ Head of Pediatric Surgery 1/1 — Pediatric surgery is a surgical specialty that deals with the care of fetuses, infants, children, and adolescents. The upper age limit ranges from age 14 to 18, depending on the country, before the patient would be seen by another physician for any medical problems. Pediatric surgery has its own sub-specialties branching into other specialties, such as pediatric general surgery, pediatric neurosurgery and pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, as well as two sub-specialties of its own, neonatal surgery and fetal surgery.
☤ Head of Trauma Surgery 0/1 — Trauma surgery (also known as Surgical critical care) is a surgical specialty involved in the invasive treatment of physical injuries, typically in an emergency setting. It addresses most injuries to the neck, chest, abdomen, and extremities. Practitioners of trauma surgery are called trauma surgeons. The trauma surgeon is responsible for the initial resuscitation and stabilization of the patient, as well as ongoing evaluation and management. Trauma surgeons must be familiar with a large variety of general surgical, thoracic, and vascular procedures and must be able to make complex decisions, often with little time and incomplete information. Proficiency in all aspects of intensive care medicine/critical care is required.
ATTENDINGS 2/8
An attending physician or surgeon is a doctor who has completed residency and practices medicine in a clinic or hospital, in the specialty learned during residency. An attending can supervise fellows, residents and medical students. Attendings may also have an academic title at an affiliated university such as "professor". Attendings have the final responsibility–legally and otherwise–for patient care, even when many decisions are made by other doctors. for the sake of numbers the only attendings will be the heads of their departments and the chiefs of surgery/residents, the rest will be npcs
RESIDENTS 1/8
Residency is a stage of post-graduate medical training. A resident physician/surgeon is a doctor who has received a medical degree and practices medicine under the supervision of fully licensed physicians and/or surgeons, usually in a hospital or clinic. A residency may follow the internship year or include the internship year as the first year of residency. Successful completion of an internship is a requirement to gain a full license to practice medicine as an attending physician/surgeon and successful completion of a residency program is required by most hospitals. A resident may choose a residency in any specialty of their choosing but may have to complete years in more general training as prerequisites for some specialties. Try to not all focus on the same speciality, I dont want five cardio residents!
NURSES 0/4
Nurses work as part of a team of professional and medical staff that includes doctors, social workers and therapists. Typical duties of the job include: assessing and planning nursing care requirements, providing pre- and post-operation care, monitoring and administering medication and intravenous infusions, taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures, writing records, supervising junior staff, organising workloads, providing emotional support to patients and relatives and tutoring student nurses. 24-hour shift work can be a requirement of the job.
INTERNS 1/∞
An intern is a term used for a doctor in training who has completed medical school. An intern has a medical degree, but does not have a full license to practice medicine unsupervised and so are taught by their residents and attendings. Interns in a medical residency are also known as medical interns, while interns in a surgical residency are known as surgical interns. They will be assigned to a resident with the occasional input and borrowing from other residents and attendings.
