News Greetings 2016, May I have Another? (2015 Review)

Hey All,


So I know some of you were expecting my end of the year address to the site on the 1st and I apologize. <3


So without further ado let's talk about 2015 as a year for RpN.

January


  • We had a hilarious and slightly offensive start to the year when I was testing a new alert system for one of the many chat systems/bars we trialed over the year of 2015 and sent Miz a "YOU ARE A GAY" message (disclaimer, we are both homosexual and we like to make jabs at each other quite a bit). Except that my message went out to the entire site. Staff Chan is very embarrassed :P . - @Xylin to the reds, becoming administrators :) ! - @Xylin, welcome back to the staff. Thank you very much for taking the demanding mantle of being an admin on an extremely active site. Congrats on your marriage and thank you for making one of my bestest friends in the world the happiest man in it. @Aldur Forgehammer, and @Sherwood, welcome to the staff, you beautiful people, you didn't get an announcement earlier, so here you go :P .

  • Our goals for 2016 will be to continue the advancement of the site's functionality, maintaing our new status on Google and continuing to grow as one of the largest and most active sites for roleplaying on the internet. Throughout 2015 we capped out between 700-1200 at peak hours, not to mention all the thousands of users who visit throughout the day at different times. We plan to continue to foster an amazing and friendly environment where we can continue to grow as a community and site. Among that and many others we have the following things to look forward to in the immediate future.
    Official RpN Apps (not made by tapatalk woo!)
  • Integration of Discord with RpNation, to allow syncing of accounts and some other cool upcoming features
  • Thanks to the new implementation of the helper system, we will be resuming the newsletter, contests and other amazing events that you also let us do towards the end of 2015 but on bigger and grander scales thanks to all the extra help
  • Much more!

That offensive start was literally my second day on the site. It's hard to believe I've been here only a year! The last site I was on, I spent seven years on, so I'm looking forward to a lot more time with you guys.


Wiz, thank you for casting my soul down into the hell that is Staff. These past several months have been an honor. I love being able to serve the community that made me feel so welcome and at-ease when I was struggling to come out of a major creative block and a roleplaying hiatus. With me and the other artists on the Staff, I promise you'll always have the sexiest website in all teh webz.

All kidding aside, I've never liked a forum so much as I do RPN, and I've only been here for about half a year. (Also, Jeeeez, this year's been super fast) I've head heavy downs this year - Maybe more than ever and, while I don't wanna sound dramatic, that is saying a bit. RPN majorly helped me get my mind off of things though. Even met some really gorgeous, delightful people while here and I'm very appreciative of that. The community and the RPing got me into a better place, mentally, and that wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the staff and all our glorious users making it such a blast to come here.


Aside from the sentimental crap (bah) it's also easily the sexiest website I've ever had the privilege of being on. All these fancy codes, the pretty layout and whatnot. Just... hnnngggg. Thanks to everyone, the users for making this place lively, and the staff for making it so exceptional. I can only imagine that RPN is going to grow more and more - And rightfully so. RPN fo' lyfe!

I know that this message may not mean much from just a fellow socially awkward member of this site... But I'd really like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work and effort you @The Dark Wizard , The staff and everyone on the site has done to help this amazing community grow stronger!! This year was pretty stressful for me with starting out year 8 (Moving to high school/middle-school) Issues with some relatives health and to do with my friends, most of which do not have the best life, most of them suffering from depression or anxiety issues, including one friend who previously had a brain tumour that has a chance of returning, of course adding in the overload of homework... It's been hard.


But, no matter what happened?... I always knew I had a loving family and this site to fall back on. Through some of the hardest days this year I've been able to come back to RPN and laugh! Joke! Play-Around! The uplifting atmosphere cheering me on and friendly community full of support, Overall just have a good time regardless of what's happening IRL. I've made many friends from all over the world that without this site I would have never had the chance to even speak too!!


Whilst being on here my spelling and grammar skills (Which I was previously struggling with) have improved greatly!~


I Really can't express my gratitude enough... So instead of rambling on forever I'll end this on a simple note...

!! Ah, this was very sweet. <3 ! I totally forgot about that mishap with the alert system, but that was so great when it happened omg. I hadn't even realized the extent of how much this site has changed over the past year, but looking over this, it's astounding how much work you put into making this site, Wiz.


Signing up for RpN was probably the best decision I've ever made in my life. It's extremely comforting knowing that I can just log in here and there will be a friendly community of roleplayers for me to be able to interact with any time of the day and how that will never change. It's been an amazing experience so far being able to help with and give back to that same community, if only just a little bit, and I look forward to continuing that process throughout the rest of the new year. It's been a pleasure to get to know you and the rest of the staff, as well as all the friends I've made here over the past couple of years.


Cheers to the gradual but absolute takeover of the world internet. (◡‿◡✿)

Damn...this site has had quite a history by the looks of it...and all of that was just one year! :o


Seriously though, I am very bloody glad I found RPNation, it has been quite amazing thus far, with the Staff being some of the best and friendliest people I have seen in my 18 Years of Life so far, as well as much commitment and perseverance during a difficult time for you all. Speaking of difficult, trying and desperate times, I found RPNation in one of the darker points in my life that only got darker and more difficult as it went on, but the warmth felt and the ever present light from this site kept me smiling with its creativity, unity and awesomeness. :3 Friends were lost, I lost the girl I loved, difficult times for my family in general, yet I still managed to keep my head up and even have some fun and in part, it is thanks to RPNation. :) Really, I can't thank you enough, even in this brief time I've been here so far.


And in this brief time, I can't get my head around your extensive and awesome BBCode System, hnnnggh, I can't handle all of the sexiness, clearly! xD I'll figure it out, more than likely after or during a posting of an RP of my own, but still. :P


To close this off: I hope to remain here for years to come, maybe make my presence known like all of these lovely people you've talked about and here's to 2016! :D <3

I'll spare ye all the pain. Constant trolling and spamming, even from heartless demons people I know in the real life, and just UGH.


So, not only the biggest of thank-yous you all admins, moderators, and every single person who has given time and effort and anything else to make this incredibly amazing place what it is now, but also to @Dragongal (HAHAHA THOU SHALT NOT GO UNMENTIONED!!!) for dragging me here in the first place. :3


Though I've hardly been here for who knows how long (well... There is a little thingy that says when I created my account... Right?), and I feel like a little undeserving tiny speck who really hasn't done anything :\ I still feel that I should bow down to those who have. So, that being said, -bows down to all staff of RPN. Even you, Staffy-chan-

No one on RpNation is an undeserving tiny speck. Every member we have who posts and loves the site helps build it to what it is. Sure, the staff help facilitate things, but in the end, it's you all who make the site what it is, not us. (:
