Fandom Gotham Academy

I'd like to play Lor-Zod.

My general idea is Zod helped his son escape the phantom zone, and he's on earth trying to figure out how to free his family. He may join the academy cause he thinks it could get him closer to that goal. i'll have him be younger than Clark if someone else is playing superman, or super boy since everyone is younger here.

It's still kinda up in the air. Considering reworking this as a Young Justice thread, but right now my Star Wars thread takes priority. Once that is up and running I'll focus on a DC rp.

I'd love to join. I was in a different one, but it kind of died, so hahah. Do you need teachers to teach at the school? I'm pretty well experienced in that area, as I currently run a good-sized High School Marvel role play on the Marvel Amino.

If this gets a second wind, I would perhaps like to join as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.

I'd love to join this too if you're still trying to pump some life into it! Possibly as Victor Stone, aka Cyborg. I'm planning on him starting out as the jock (like in the comics) he'd stay like that until we're all ready for an alien invasion type of thing (which was how he got his powers) and his father is forced to embed the cyborg onto his body after STAR Labs and him are attacked.

I'm in as long as I can be a reincarnation of Poison Ivy, but now a young male (maybe experimented on with the last plant Poison Ivy created before death, gaining her powers)

Okay, so I'm thinking of using my Young Justice spin on this after all, and have them all be students or teachers at the school. However, instead of making the school a top tier place like Gotham Academy, it might work better for a wider cast of characters if we make it a public high school. Perhaps in this version of the universe, Gotham City started as the war camp of General Horace T. Gotham during the American Revolution. It was named Fort Gotham in his honor, and later turned into a town and then a city in the years following the Civil War.

In the early 1950s, a fire burned Fort Gotham to the ground, and the City Council dedicated the area to a new center of education, dubbed Horace T. Gotham High School, though the students came to call it Gotham High for short. Over the years, the property has been updated and expanded a number of times, and as of 2018, it is the largest public school in the state of New Jersey.

If we go this route, I would likely play Dick Grayson and Conner Kent, as those two are always my staples in YJ/TT RPs. DatBoi, if you still wanted to play Damian Wayne, he could just be coming to Gotham at the start of the RP. Dick hands down the Robin persona to him and become Nightwing. I would play Batman as a sort of NPC/mentor to the group. Xaynce, I know you mentioned wanting to play Clark Kent, but you never replied after that. If you do still want to play, feel free to message me so we can work out a character for you. Olissa, feel free to play Kara :D. Though I think we should tone down the god-like powers to a degree, lol.

To provide a different dynamic to Conner, I think instead of a clone I will portray him as a human/kryptonian hybrid of natural birth. Though I'll still use the Kent/Luthor lineage -- he was conceived during a fling when a young Clark Kent became smitten with Lex Luthor's younger sister, Lena. Lena learned his secret but she vowed to keep it from her brother, but when she discovered she was pregnant, she feared the child would be molded by either Clark or Lex. She decided to move to Hawaii and keep the baby a secret from them both until she could pass him off as being the son of a local man.

Years later, the boy -- at the time named Conner Calhoun after his fake father -- began to exhibit his latent Kryptonian powers, much to the distress of his mother. Ultimately, she revealed his true parentage and took Conner to live at the Kent Farm in Smallville, Kansas so he could learn to control his powers away from big cities. As he entered his teens, the young hybrid dealt with anger issues and an identity crisis, and tended to steer that rage towards his stepmother, Lois Lane-Kent, whenever he visited Clark in Metropolis.

Before long, everyone had become fed up with Conner's attitude, and Clark asked Bruce Wayne to watch over him for a while and mentor the troubled teen. So he moved into Wayne Manor and began training in the Bat Cave, developing a brother-like bond with Dick Grayson.

Yes obviously the powers would be toned down. Touching on some of the basics but not giving it its full potency.

I'm so down for this. Could I be Raven? I pretty much idolized growing and would love to roleplay her, even a slightly altered version lol.

Sure thing, Lily, you can play Raven :D. At some point we could have a Trigon story arc and tie in the Church of Blood and John Constantine :D.

Everyone is welcome, but I do want to advise you all that I only enjoying playing with those who write well, can creatively distinguish between dialogue and narrative, and make proper use of grammar and punctuation. By putting thought and effort into your writing, you make it more entertaining for your co-writers. This isn't a babble chatroom rp -- it is an epic tale that deserves to be respected. Of your posts, ask yourselves, "would I enjoy seeing these paragraphs in a published novel?" If your answer is anything but "yes!" then you might consider a few edits.

Creative and literary integrity should dominate your list of writing priorities, so that you may craft a fine-tuned work of literature that your co-writers can undoubtedly sink their minds into with relative ease. Take not the easy route with over-used words and phrases, but rather branch out your narrative to truly unfold the splendors of the written word.

If you wish, I can provide a number of writing examples of my own works in past roleplays as reference. :)

As long as you have faith in your writing skills and you show them in your intro posts, I will be satisfied :D. I will start an official OOC thread and Database next week and once we have our full cast of starting character and their sheets up, I'll start the RP thread. However, once the RP has officially started, we will not accept any new writers for a while so we don't get over-saturated with people right off the bat. To anyone who is still interested, please post again with a list of characters you are wanting to play so that I can compile a total list on my end. I ask this because some people posted early on but have not since, so I want to see who all is still actively interested in this.

I’d be interested in playing Damian Wayne’s Robin, and Barbara Gorden’s Oracle if that’s no problem :)

Sure thing, DatBoi, but since we're high school age you might want to start Barbara Gordon off as Batgirl and turn her into Oracle later on. Also, what age were you thinking of making Damian Wayne? Dick Grayson will be 17 at the beginning and just starting his senior year at Gotham High. Conner will be 16 and just starting his junior year.

What years do Gatham High cover? I’m not fully aware of the American school system, sorry.

I would prefer to play Barbara in the Oracle format, as I have always felt she is a deeper character after that incident. If you are opposed to speeding up there events so much, though, Id be happy to write her as Batgirl.

Gotham High covers years 9-12. Usually students are age 14 in their freshman year, 15 in their sophomore year, 16 in their junior, and 17 in their senior year. Though sometimes students are younger or older during these school years, depending on whether or not they jumped ahead or were held back.

In Dick's case, he could have graduated early if he wanted, but he chose not to skip ahead so he could graduate normally with his peers.

In that case, Damian would be in 9th year, though a year or so younger than 14. Barbara would be a senior.
