New York is the city that never sleeps. Known for its skyscrapers, tourist attractions, commercial, financial and cultural centers, it's a place where there's always something to do, and things never get boring. Although its a city that has an allure to it, regardless of whether you're living in a tiny studio apartment, or a penthouse overlooking Central Park, there's no denying that everyone would prefer the latter over the former. Even those living on a budget in Manhattan are probably wealthier than the average American living elsewhere, but those who qualify as being wealthy in New York are on an entirely different level of wealthy than those labeled as it in other places. Manhattan's upper class citizens are a type all of their own, and though their money sets them apart (and above) the rest, it doesn't come without a price, even for the children of those wealthy New Yorkers. Drama seems to run rampant in these crowds, and the students at two of the most exclusive private schools in New York, Constance Billard School for Girls, and St. Jude's School for Boys, lead the pack when it comes to this. Some love the drama, and others want nothing more than to avoid it all costs, but almost everyone seems to agree that it's hard to look away when things start going down. There's some sort of appeal to the drama, and when one person realized this, they capitalized on it by creating an undercover alias, known only as Gossip Girl. If anything worth knowing about occurs in the Upper East Side, you can bet that she'll be the first to know about it, and the first to share it with the rest of the world too.

It appears as if no one is safe from her wrath, which only seems to increase her appeal, since even those at the top of the social ladder are susceptible to being brought back down to earth with a few taps on a keyboard -- and while it's all fun and games to read about everyone else's drama, it definitely adds an extra layer of stress and challenge to the already difficult life of a high school junior. Since there's no indication that Manhattan's most notorious anonymous blogger is going away any time soon, though... let the fun and games begin, and just hope that your secrets don't end up plastered on her page any time soon.

Mornings are simply more fun on the Upper East Side. Our favorite things to wake up to? The sun in the sky, the Nikkei on the rise, and a wake-up call from your lover. Or your best friend. Word on the street is that our Queen Bee spent her morning on calls with both, but something tells me that she’s not in on the fun we’re having. Could it be that our own royals are without a castle of their own to play in on a Friday night? Perhaps Zorro will come to rescue our beloved femme fatale. If not, I think I know of a certain B-lister eager to enter stage left.
xoxo,

AJ Clarke | The King Bee

AJ sat in the second row of his English class, doing his best to keep his eyes focused on Mr. Weiss, who stood just a few feet away from him. Although he wasn’t the best student in the class, AJ was likeable enough that his teachers usually thought fairly well of him. He could come up with bullshit answers on the spot, especially in classes like English where there usually wasn’t a set “correct” answer, which only made it easier for him to justify zoning out during the class. Working against Mr. Weiss too, was that his class was right before lunch. By that time of day, students like AJ were only just really starting to wake up, so that newfound energy coupled with being hungry made in all the more difficult to care about how the political themes in The Grapes of Wrath differed or extended from those in the other two books in Steinbeck’s labor trilogy, that the boys had been expected to independently read over the summer. AJ knew that he needed to focus. The essay that Mr. Weiss was expecting them to write over the next week was going to be a pain in the ass if he didn’t leech ideas off of his classmates who were volunteering their thoughts in the class discussion that was occurring now, but it just felt impossible to do.

He glanced past the man standing in the front of the room to confirm his hopeful thought that class was almost over. Only three minutes left. He could make it. As he pretended to type notes on his Macbook, he instead sent out a few texts to figure out what the plans for lunch were. With AJ’s appetite, it wasn’t surprising that he was ready to sit down for a Thanksgiving dinner sized meal even though he had eaten breakfast just a few hours ago. In his defense, his breakfast had been rushed more than it would have been if he hadn’t spent so much time that morning on the phone with Charlotte. He wasn’t complaining about talking to her as a whole, especially since things had been so weird between them lately, and it wasn’t abnormal for them to Facetime while they got ready, but it was the content of the conversation that had stressed him out. Katherine had been slated to host a party that night, but for some reason still unknown to AJ, she had apparently called Charlotte just that morning to back out of hosting. The suddenness of it irked him, especially since he had been planning on having fun tonight and just relaxing. The gang had only just been reunited after a summer spent somewhat apart, with everyone in and out of the city vacationing, engaging in internships, and so on, so a good, carefree party was overdue. This change of plans was unexpected and unwelcome, but AJ wasn’t about to let their night be ruined that easily. He was nothing if not resourceful, and thankfully, his social status came with the perk of having lots of people who were willing to do whatever it took to get a chance to hang out with him.

AJ was raised well enough to know the difference between right and wrong, and given that, he did typically try to act kindly towards everyone. He was friendly towards most people, even the ones he wasn’t actually friends with. Not only was it just a good look to treat people with respect, but AJ knew that it was always smart to have people on hand when he needed a favor. Today was one of those days, and that meant that for Charlie Jameson, it was also his lucky day. AJ had heard from Alaina that Charlie was having his friends over tonight, and AJ immediately saw that as an opportunity. He didn’t want to hang out with Charlie personally, but he would gladly mask his desire to have an open house to party at with his friends as that, if it worked in his favor.

To: Kai Walker, Ezra Bellamy

I’ll meet you guys outside after this ends. Gonna talk Jameson into letting us use his house for the party tonight. Figure out where we're eating bc I'm hungry af though

To: Charlotte Graff

Dw about the party issue. I found a spot for us and it’s gonna be sick 😎 🤪

Overview
Mentioned: A_Writer A_Writer Sadistic Sweetheart Sadistic Sweetheart

Alaina actually didn't mind school. While she didn't love every class she took or every lesson that was taught, she still really enjoyed learning. Of course, going to such a prestigious school as Constance Billard certainly worked in her favor in that department. Still, there were days like today, where her mind was elsewhere. Alaina was just as flighty as she was curious, and while the other day she had been actively participating in class because the conversation intrigued her, today was different. Her fingers still pranced quickly about her keyboard as if she was taking notes, but in reality she was chatting with Luna. Perhaps tonight was what had her so distracted, or maybe it was the fact that lunch was inching closer and closer. The closer it got, though, the longer it seemed to take to reach the next minute.

To: Luna
idk why i'm in the class when i have you lmao. unlike you, this class isn't going to help me get laid

To: Luna
but now that i've gotten off the #JamesTrain, i need more candidates

To: Luna
AND I MEAN IT THIS TIME!!! the ship has sailed!!! it's titanticked!!

As she typed more aggressively, she looked towards her friend with a hard stare. She was serious. Was this the first time she had been serious? No. But this wasn't like the other countless times since freshman year. Still, she was quick to divert her eyes and focus on her computer screen.

To: Luna
NOT that i'm trying to...whatever but still. you know what i mean

Alaina would never admit it, but the people who knew her best were the ones who knew her past her passionate and defensive exterior. In actuality, she was quite awkward and dorky, and far less experienced than her emboldened personality might lead on to seem. Luna was one of those such people. That Alaina had been such good friends with Luna for as long as she had and still managed to be a 'boring prude' as she would call it, truly spoke to Alaina's true nature. She and Luna certainly had their fair share of crazy times, and plenty of Alaina's firsts were thanks to Luna. Alaina rarely backed down from a chance to explore something new (which probably explained why she and Luna got along so well), but when it came to anything related to boys, she became a fish out of water.

In the midst of continuing to defend herself against no one but herself, class finally ended. She closed her laptop just as swiftly before pivoting her body to face Luna. "Not a word from you. I said what I said." Another thing that people who had the (dis)pleasure of knowing Alaina well enough was that when she got particularly frazzled, she was good for having conversations with herself, as she'd just done with Luna. Her ultimatum was uncalled for simply because she hadn't given Luna a chance to say anything. "Yo, A-town!" she called in Alex's direction. "What we getting into during lunch, girl? Have y'all heard from the guys?"

Charlotte Graff

Like the majority of the girls seated around her, Charlotte's mind was focused on everything but the lecture that their teacher was so engrossed in. Health and Sexuality was one of those easy courses that came with a nearly automatic A as long as you showed up and were mildly competent, in Charlotte's opinion. Some of the material was interesting, and when she had something to say, Charlotte never hesitated to participate and throw herself into the debates that sometimes ensued, but she almost preferred to use this class as a time to relax. The material felt more like common sense than it did academic knowledge so note taking usually fell below online shopping and texting on her priority list. Today, she needed time to wind down more than she would on a typical day, and she didn't like how she didn't know who to blame for it. Well, she did know who to blame for it--Katherine. The girl who sat a few feet away from her had been Charlotte's best friend for as long as she could recall, and yet she still managed to baffle her sometimes. Katherine had told them weeks ago that she was going to throw a party tonight, and as she was typically reliable in that regard, it had become to accepted plan. As if it was no big deal, Katherine decided to change her mind this morning, cancelling the party and throwing the entire weekend off. Charlotte had a tendency to take things more personally than they were, but she hated disruptions in her plans. She had turned down various other plans that she could have taken part in (and admittedly, still could, if she so desired), had an outfit already picked out that was specifically appropriate for the house party setting, and had already gotten into that mindset. If that wasn't enough, this was the first event that Kat was supposed to host since going absolutely MIA over the summer.

Charlotte's cold reaction to the change in plans was a reaction not only to the unexpected cancellation, but to how flaky and uncommitted Katherine seemed towards their friend group as of recently. Thankfully, Sila and Olivia had been reliable enough for Charlotte to depend on in Katherine's absence and now that Katherine was receiving the cold-shoulder treatment, Charlotte was investing more heavily in her communications with the other two again. As class ended, Charlotte closed her laptop and looked to Sila and Olivia with a comfortable and relaxed smile, one that perfectly masked the angst she was feeling inside. With Gossip Girl's little remark about her today, she knew that she had to be even more focused than she typically was on maintaining a content appearance. People even speculating that something minor was off in her life made Charlotte feel more uncomfortable than it deserved to, but it was just the way she was. Everything needed to be perfect; no one needed to know that she was just as human as they were.

"Let's go to Paola's," Charlotte suggested, though anyone who knew her knew that it was more of a statement than something that she was allowing to be opened up for debate. The little Italian restaurant around the corner was one of her favorite lunchtime spots, especially during the fall when the weather was perfect for sitting at their sidewalk tables outside. "Fridays are cheat days," she defended proactively, in a light tone. Her eyes had just skimmed over AJ's text message and though she didn't know whether to trust it or not, it did bring some relief to her. She didn't want to pour false hope into it when she didn't know what he was talking about, and whether she would even approve of his idea, but at least there was an idea. The others that had been presented: heading to the Hamptons after school to party at someone's summer home for the weekend, going to 1 Oak or Le Bain, among others were either idiotic, inconvenient, or simply not what Charlotte was in the mood for, and therefore worthy of vetoing for the entire friend group.

Though she wanted to ignore Katherine still to prove a point, with Gossip Girl's latest comments still fresh on her mind, she turned to the brunette to allow her to join the girls as they headed out. However, before she could utter a word, their teacher piped up. "Katherine, Alexandra--stick around for a moment, please. I'd like to have a word with you two." While Charlotte disliked the scenes that Kat sometimes made, especially when it came to that loser, Alex, even she could admit that the bickering between the two was sometimes amusing. Most of the time annoying, since Kat's weak comebacks often forced Charlotte to jump in to put Alex back down in her place, but sometimes, amusing. Charlotte was sure that their teacher was about to chide the two of them for how they had went at it earlier in class, and because Charlotte wasn't feeling particularly loving towards Kat today, she would let the girl fight this battle on her own and catch up with them in a bit. Paola's was only right around the block, and Charlotte never was keen on waiting for anyone or anything.

He wasn't wealthy like them, didn't have a trust fund or a yacht, a second home to summer at or a mindset that money grew on trees. Even if he was completely accustomed to the fact that he lived a different lifestyle than his peers, their mindset never grew old to him. It was impossible to become comfortable with that being the norm, and James was glad that he wasn't, because it wasn't the norm. Not the norm for the majority of Americans, nonetheless humans on the planet. Unlike them, James didn't just see St. Jude's as boring old school. No "boring old school" cost over fifty grand a year to attend. James recognized how lucky he was to attend such a prestigious institute and because of that, even when he was tired, bored and hungry, as he was now, he tried to fully immerse himself in whatever was going on in class. He was working on becoming more self-disciplined in many aspects of life, but thankfully, when it came to education, James had a good track record of taking advantage of the privilege of going to St. Jude's ever since he started. He wasn't a bookworm or a teacher's pet, and like everyone, he had his days where he zoned out completely, but for the most part, he was on top of being involved in class discussions, answering questions out loud, and volunteering for any interactive lessons when the chances arose. Unlike so many, he didn't have personal tutors or people he could pay to take the SAT exams for him, but James did his best to put in enough effort to keep himself on a level playing field with his peers. If he couldn't do that in terms of socioeconomics, he was at least committed to doing it in ways that he could control, such as academics, athletics, and so on.

Just as English class ended, James texted in the group chat he had with some of his friends. To: Charlie, Luna, Alaina, Alex, Norah Where we eating? 🍕🍜🍔🍣🌮 He motioned to Charlie to head out without him, though, as he wanted to talk to their teacher for a minute. He had a few questions about the paper that was due next week and he preferred addressing things in person when possible, just to make a point that he truly cared. He didn't have family donations to rely on to ensure that he ended up with good grades, so he didn't mess around when it came to this stuff. [/div][/div] [/div][/div]

Luna didn't know (or care) about anyone else, but she, for one, was enjoying herself today in class. It had started off an an amusing note when Katherine and Alex had gotten into an argument at the start of class, all thanks to Luna. She had been snacking on Goldfish, seated next to Alex in the back of the class, when she felt compelled to throw one of them at Kat's head. It was just innocent fun, a giggle's worth of amusement, but after Kat rubbed her head, looked around, and couldn't find an immediate culprit to blame, Luna just had to do it again. It was too funny! When Kat turned around that time though, Alex must have moved her hand in some way that falsely incriminated her... or (and this was just as likely a scenario) Kat just felt inclined to blame Alex just because. One way or another, a few crackers to the head led to Katherine raising her hand to complain to the teacher that Alex was "assaulting" her, Alex firing back, and the two of them going at it for a few moments until the teacher properly distinguished the flames. Luna could have jumped in and told her stepsister to chill because it was her who had thrown them... but what would be the fun in that? Luna enjoyed the show and would make it up to Alex later.

If that wasn't enough, then Alaina's commentary throughout the class (on everything but the class) kept Luna thoroughly amused all the way until the final bell rang, and class was dismissed. "Mmm, looks like it's the Jack Dawson himself, wanting to know where we're eating," Luna hummed, playing off of Alaina's claim that her crush on James had "titanicked". Alaina got away this time without Luna being able to properly respond to her claims (that Luna would call erroneous), but that was only because it was lunch time, and Luna was more than ready for that. With her appetite, one would have to guess that her body had permanently accustomed itself to having the munchies 24/7.

She sent a text back to the group, requesting one of her favorite spots, Naruto Ramen, though she would probably be happy eating anywhere.

To: James, Alaina, Alex, Norah, Charlie
Ramen????????? 😛

"Come on, Alex. You really need to start behaving like a good girl in class!"
she teased as Alex was called to stay after class to speak with their teacher. There wasn't even a shred of guilt in Luna for being the one to cause the trouble today; it wasn't like she and Kat wouldn't have found a reason to get into it one way or another anyway. "I can't believe I got stuck with you two horrible influences as friends," she said, sighing dramatically. "You, a disruptive bully," she said to Alex, her eyes lit up with amusement, before turning to Alaina, "And you, a boldfaced liar." She wouldn't blow up Alaina's spot and give up any information as to why she was lying, because she wasn't going to put her crush on James on blast like that. Even though Luna was completely unfiltered most of the time, she was still a good friend, and she wasn't going to cross that line. "If I didn't have a perfect view of Sila's desk in every class, I don't know how I would pass any of my exams with so many distractions in my way," she added, just as they passed by the ever-so-perfect A-lister. Luna didn't actually need to cheat on tests, and it was too much effort for her to attempt anyway, even if she did need to. Still, it was fun to tease the A-listers when she had a chance. They were always so uptight and serious for no reason.

A_Writer A_Writer BurningBridges BurningBridges [/div][/div] [div class=post][div class=scroll]For what was supposedly one of the top schools in New York, Sila thought, there was an awful lot of preschool behaviour. Between Luna hurling food across the classroom like a zoo animal and the ensuing full-blown argument between Katherine and Alexandra, Sila had done a decent job at keeping her head down and focusing on the classwork - though she had a feeling she was the only one still remotely interested in following the lesson at that point. She was relieved when class finally ended and Charlotte suggested they go to Paola's. She waved her hand dismissively when Charlotte mentioned the words 'cheat day', telling her not to worry about it. "Paola's sounds amazing," she responded, a smile spreading across her features. A relaxed lunch with her girlfriends was just what she needed right about now. But, of course, just when she thought that was when the teacher called for Katherine and Alexandra to stay back after class. 'God, as if she needed anymore shit today.' Sure, Kat should have known better than to give into Alex's taunting, but the poor girl already had enough on her plate today with Charlotte being mad at her for the party fiasco. It wasn't as if the two hadn't had their differences before, but whenever they were fighting everything just felt off, and Sila genuinely felt that Kat didn't deserve everything that had been coming at her today. Luna's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she raised an eyebrow at the comment, but didn't bother to look up from her planner, where she was noting down the homework for next lesson in precise, cursive handwriting. 'What children,' she thought as she packed her stuff away and made for the door. Charlotte had already left, but Sila took a moment to stop by Kat's desk on her way out. "You've got this, babe. I'll see you soon." She gave her a warm smile and a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder as she passed. She scanned the corridor for Charlotte as soon as she was out of the classroom, quickening her pace to catch up with the blonde before falling into step beside her. The Queen Bee was undeniably in a bad mood today, and the Gossip Girl's post that morning couldn't have lessened any anger she was feeling towards Kat. She wanted to inquire about the party, but figured if Charlotte wanted to speak about it she'd bring it up herself, so she'd try to change the subject. [div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]Olivia Blake
[div class=role]the traitor[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll] Basking in the failure of others wasn't something that could be justified on many moral compasses, but Olivia always found a way to validate it when she was the one doing it. What made it particularly bad was that she tended to bask in the failure of her friends... or people who were supposed to be her friends. What she had with Charlotte, Sila, and Katherine was complicated to say the least. During most of their day to day interactions, Olivia did enjoy their company and have fun. She wasn't constantly feigning the laughter and smiles that appeared when she was around them, every single one of her actions weren't cold and calculated. However, in the overlying picture, she didn't want to be their friends. She wanted them to be her subordinates. She wanted to be the one calling the shots, the one who was fawned over, the one who got to choose where they ate lunch. She couldn't be proud of herself for managing to claim a coveted seat in the A-list clique when her true goal still hadn't been met. She suppressed a smile that wanted to appear when Katherine was called out to stay after class, likely to be berated for her childish behavior. Katherine wasn't so bad, and as far as anyone knew, even Kat herself, she and Olivia were friends. In Olivia's eyes though, Kat was going to be the perfect malleable tool for her. The girl was so emotional and dramatic, that she was easily swayed into believing things that any normal person would question. Albeit it sometimes bratty, she was a sweetheart within their friend group and it was going to be her downfall, unfortunately. Olivia had spent much of the morning texting her, reassuring her that Olivia wouldn't be mad at her for very long regarding the party scenario, and trying to pry the real reason for the cancellation from her. It had to be something juicy, and Olivia's head was a warehouse of secrets, all sorted into separate filing cabinets to be pulled from as needed depending on how badly she wanted someone to suffer. While on the outside, she was just as much a part of the clique as Katherine or Sila were, when they were all together, Olivia sometimes felt like Charlotte favored the other two. She often wondered whether it would be more beneficial to alienate Charlotte from the two girls, or alienate the two girls from Charlotte, but she was leaning closer to believing that Charlotte did have enough ruler-esque essence to still hold onto power even without her little sidekicks. If Olivia got Sila and Kat out of the way and was clearly in spot #2 for the throne, then that would be that many fewer people to go through once she was ready to claim her rightful spot. Katherine had made things easy for Olivia today. Not only was Charlotte already angry with her regarding her suspicious absence all summer, but she was freshly annoyed by the party cancellation. Add in Katherine's juvenile behavior and the poor look that cast on them, and everything was just falling into place. As she followed Charlotte and Sila out, she smiled at the lunch decision. Olivia wasn't in the mood for Italian, but she knew that there was no point in stating that since once Charlotte's mind was made up, it was made up. Sila's question about the boys piqued her interest though, and she looked to Charlotte curiously as she quelled the butterflies in her stomach that seemed to come out anytime she thought about AJ. She wanted to see him, but if seeing him meant seeing him sitting next to Charlotte instead of her, she wasn't so sure. "Who knows how long Kat will be, it might be nice to have some extra company," she offered with a shrug. It was this strange feeling that was neither jealousy, dislike nor anger but at the same time it was exactly that. Ethan never understood what exactly it meant and what màn-sâi really felt like. But the tables had turned, forcing the student to leave the life he knew behind, setting a new anchor in unknown grounds. It has been three months since his father was arrested by the police with charges of black labor and embezzlement resting on the business man’s shoulders. It felt like it was yesterday and at the same time so long ago. Sometimes it seemed like a strange dream that just couldn’t be the truth.

Since that day his friends had abandoned him. They used to shout his name, now they only whisper it. That was the first time Ethan became familiar with feeling màn-sâi. It was an ugly feeling like a shiver running down Ethan’s spine but he chose to ignore it. He just decided to roll with it, acting like his new role was what he desired. He was the life of the party after all, quite literally, and no one could take that away from him.
It was just another friday, just another english class. He leaned back comfortably in his seat with his eyes scanning his notes first but then observing the teacher. He wasn’t paying attention and the words thrown through the room were just dull sounds to his ears. Given the fact that English wasn’t his favorite subject, it made things worse that his parents always spoke a weird mix of chinese, thai and english with him, which could be quite fun to listen to nonetheless. Ethan was decorating the paper they received with unidentifiable doodles to make the time pass quicker. A few strains of hair fell on his forehead softly framing his face. He didn’t ever invest energy to take part in classes. Why would he? He was clever enough to make the cut each year.

As the bell rang, he was reminded of today’s only glimmer of hope. Charlie’s party. With Charlie Jameson being his only friend at the time being, he saw a chance to go wild tonight. He decided to shoot a message to the other male and wore a sly smile while doing so.

"yo. we partying tonight?“
"i’ll bring the good stuff“

Ethan got up and packed his belongings into his bag, wondering what to do with the time he got during the lunch break. He'd probably see Charlie around and discuss with him about the party more. It was time to become the creator of his own chaos once again and everybody knows...Bad choices always make good stories.

Katherine didn't typically think of herself as being privileged even though she clearly was, but on days like today, she might as well have been an impoverished orphan with a laundry list of chronic diseases that tortured her on a daily basis, with the amount of self-pity she was clinging to. In her defense, today definitely was not her day, but it also wasn't the end of the world, though it felt like that to her. Her troubles began last night, when she and Luna had gotten into an argument based on Kat falsely accusing Luna of taking something of hers. It spilled over into Katherine then getting into it with her stepmother, with more than a few inappropriate and disrespectful insults coming out of her mouth. Katherine's father was out of town, spending the week in Paris as he so frequently did, and she ignored the many texts and calls that he sent her after her stepmother presumably filled him in on what had happened. Since her stepmother was leaving to join her father in Paris today, Katherine went to bed assuming that she would be able to use the weekend to detox her aura from their negative energy. Instead, she woke up this morning to find that not only was her stepmother no longer traveling to Europe, but her father was coming home tonight as well. She was no longer allowed to have friends over, as she had been planning on doing for weeks, and she was essentially grounded. As anyone who even remotely knew Katherine could guess, this didn't sit well with her. Not at all. Her brain just wasn't wired to be able to accept not getting her way in any humane or logical sort of way. Since her father was going to physically be in the house, there was virtually no way for her to still host the party, but it was nearly laughable to think that she was going to sit home and listen to him or Luna's mom. Katherine always got her way... at least at home.

In her social life, she was typically content, but she didn't always get her way. Since she had been unmistakably close with Charlotte since childhood, she never had to struggle for popularity or attention. She knew how Charlotte worked and Charlotte knew how she worked, and through that, expectations were usually appropriate and Kat was typically happy doing whatever the group was doing. It helped that it didn't take much to make Kat happy. Bring her shopping, take her to the spa, or go to a yoga class with her, and she typically popped back into her bubbly self even on the worst of days. Only halfway through the school day and already feeling like she was buried in a deep pit of despair, Kat didn't even know if any of those activities would be enough to salvage her mood. Charlotte was mad at her and for all Kat knew, their entire friend group was too since the party cancellation affected them all, she hadn't completed the coursework that was due later today for her mathematics class, her head was pounding and her body just felt generally fatigued, and Alex the Pervert wouldn't stop bothering her. It was a recipe for disaster and when their teacher asked her to stay behind after class ended, it was just the icing on the cake.

She returned Sila's smile with a weaker one, and watched as her friends left the classroom to head to Paola's for lunch. "Nice going," she hissed at Alex as she collected her things and stood up, walking to the front of the room. She didn't have the time or energy to be dealing with this right now, and the look on her face as she waited for their teacher to begin spoke to that.

"Girls, I can't be going through this with you two every day," the woman began with a sigh, once the class had cleared out of the room. She straightened up some papers on her desk before looking to the two of them.as she straightened some papers up on her desk. "There's a reason why I chose not to teach kindergarten, and it's because I don't want to have to deal with this kind of silly behavior." Their Health & Sexuality teacher was probably the sweetest of the bunch, so the girls were luckier to be called to stay after class by her than by most of their other teachers. To a normal student, getting into trouble only two weeks into the school year would feel daunting enough to potentially scare them straight on their own, but it didn't affect Katherine as much. School wasn't a priority in her life and since it was hard for her to ever admit that she was wrong, her brain usually just translated her being reprimanded into the idea that she was being unfairly bullied and targeted by her teachers. "What can I do to ensure that this won't continue? What's the problem here?"

"The problem is her," Katherine stated plainly as she looked in Alex's direction. "She's obsessed with me." Although their teacher's face portrayed how skeptical she was of Katherine's response, she looked to Alex then, for her side.

Though she was far from a model student, Alex had always tried to at least pretend to pay attention in her classes. But her morning classes made it nearly impossible. When she arrived at school, she was already tired from waking up so early, so giving her English first thing in the morning only meant that she'd end up asleep again by 8:05 AM. History was a little better, but it depending on if her English nap was enough or not she often found herself dreaming - or at the very least daydreaming - during at least some of the period. Her electives were a little bit better and usually woke her up. But then came Health and Sexuality. Here's the issue: she already knew how to be healthy - eat your fruits and veggies, exercise, sleep 8 hours a day - and she didn't really care about birth control or condom usage as she didn't have any intentions of sleeping with men. To make things worse, the class was right before lunch and she could already hear her stomach growling. Talking about the food pyramid did NOTHING to help that. The teacher was nice enough, but Alex just couldn't bring herself to care about the content, so she often spent most of the class period staring out the window or texting her friends. Today was more of a window day.

However, there were two entertaining things about this class: her friends and Kat's presence. Out of the corner of her eye, she had noticed motion - something being thrown. When she turned her head to see, it was just a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. She watched as the tiny cheddar snack propelled through the air to crash into Kat's perfectly styled hair, then sadly drop to the floor to become dust under someone's shoe. Because she had been watching the affair, she was, unfortunately, the first pair of eyes to catch Kat's and suddenly all the blame was on her - an innocent bystander! Alex shot Luna a dirty look, knowing full well that it was her and that she was going to let Alex take the fall. It really wasn't a huge deal, but Alex would have at least liked to have been included in the warfare before getting blamed for it - would it have really hurt Luna to toss her one of those crackers so that she could take a shot herself? Or at least give her a few to hold her over until lunch? It was all rather selfish. In a heartbeat, Alex was being accused of assault. She retaliated with an eyeroll and a "Really?"

It was really nothing out of the ordinary for her to get asked to stay after for bickering with Kat. Alex felt her phone buzz twice as class came to an end. Time for lunch, thank God. Brown eyes scanned over the texts and, without looking at the screen, she typed a quick response as she walked up to the teacher's desk.

To: James, Alaina, Luna, Norah, Charlie
meet u there. L's fault :xFmad:

On her way, Alex playfully rolled her eyes at her friends. "Actually, I haven't heard from them all day, but I've been asleep for most of it. Anywhere's fine; I'll meet up with you guys. You better go quick, Luna. Who knows how much more I'll corrupt you if you stick around."

Alex was glad to have a few friends she could joke around with. She watched curiously as Kat's friends left her. Maybe what Gossip Girl said was true. "Wow, they really just abandoned you... Trouble in paradise with Charlotte? Better be careful, she and Sila seem really close. Might even replace you if you keep this up," Alex remarked, her tone feigning concern.

Of course, Alex really didn't know what she was talking about, but she did know that the idea of losing her spot would upset Katherine. If she had the opportunity to stir the pot, of course she'd take it! There was hardly time to respond as their teacher started talking. Alex felt the slightest twinge of guilt as the woman before them really didn't deserve to deal with their antics, but it wasn't going to stop Alex by any means. At Kat's response, Alex couldn't help but laugh. "Please. Obsessed with you? Give me a break. Besides, I didn't even do anything today!" Alex turned her attention to her teacher. "You saw me - I was staring out the window most of the time! I barely moved all period!"

Her response was met with a disappointed sigh. "Is that... supposed to make me feel better?" The woman shook her head. "I've tried seating you away from each other. I've tried asking you nicely. You're hardly leaving me with any more options before I have to take disciplinary action."

Alex gave a shrug, not really sure what she could offer. It wasn't like she was going to play nice and she really didn't mind detention, so the discipline didn't mean much to her. "This is your final warning, ladies. If you keep this up, there's going to be consequences. I'm at my wit's end with the two of you. Go to lunch. I'll see you on Monday. And you both better have some new attitudes. I mean it."

Alex couldn't make any promises like that, but she nodded anyway and was happy to be dismissed. She walked to the door and, once safely out of an earshot of their teacher, she decided to try pressing Kat's buttons one last time. "You better hurry up and catch up with them, I guess. At this rate, you'll have hardly any time to get on your knees and beg Charlotte for forgiveness before lunch is over." With that, she couldn't help but smile as she started walking towards the exit, keen to catch up with her own friends.

Charlotte Graff

There were a number of reasons to eat lunch with the boys, as they often did. Most importantly, they were all friends, and it was nice to hang out with them. Additionally, the boys' energy often broke up the day and left Charlotte feeling entertained and amused before having to return to a more serious mindset for class. On a more superficial level, Charlotte knew that Gossip Girl loved a chance to turn nothing into something, and today was not the day she wanted to hear about her eating lunch separately from AJ meant that there was trouble brewing in paradise. It was easier to brush comments like those off when they weren't true, but recently, things hadn't been going as smoothly as she would have liked, and she didn't need any extra eyes honing in on that. However, with the tumultuous start to the day, Charlotte needed a break. If she could have eaten lunch alone without Gossip Girl commenting on it for the world to then speculate over, she probably would have, just to get herself in a better mindset. She was glad that AJ had apparently figured things out for tonight but she knew that she would be unfairly annoyed at him if she did see him now, simply because of how stressful things had been this morning, and she wasn't looking to project that onto him. No, eating lunch with just the girls would be best today, and besides, it wasn't like they weren't going to see the guys later that evening.

"I was thinking just us," she answered Sila. "Katherine won't be long," she added then, to Olivia. She had better not be long, at least. "I don't know what's up with her lately, but she better pull herself together." Sila and Olivia were fairly well composed, like Charlotte was, so it didn't work in Katherine's favor that she was easily the most emotionally unstable one out of the bunch. They were best friends, and Charlotte only spoke about Katherine so bluntly sometimes because of that comfort level, but also as a reminder that friendship didn't make anyone immune to expectations. The way that they all acted affected how they were all portrayed, and it was simply unacceptable for the group to be weighed down as a whole because of one person's inability to keep up. Granted, Katherine did have the luxury of receiving more slack than say, Olivia, would, if she were to do something that irked Charlotte, but it was all relative to their relationships.

"AJ said he found something for tonight, but I'm not getting my hopes up," she continued, pulling her phone out then to finally respond to him.

Where? And if it's one of the little sophomores you play soccer with, consider that an automatic no from all of us.

"What were you guys planning on wearing, anyway? Something cute, I hope," she said as they headed out into the fresh air, before turning to Sila with a more lively smile. "Word on the block is that Richard still won't stop talking about you," she said, referencing one of the A-list boys who were a year older than them and had been crushing on Sila for the longest time. "And he's sweet enough that I think I would even approve you going there," she added playfully, poking fun at her own inability to find any of the guys her friends dated or considered dating to even be remotely worthy of them. Sila, especially, fell into that category. Her friend was just so perfect--none of the guys deserved her. It didn't surprise Charlotte that she was still single, and in a way, Charlotte was jealous of her for that. Perfectly poised and accomplished without a childish boy weighing her down.

AJ was quick to pack up his belongings once class concluded. He had lunch on his mind, but before he could get to that, he had to get to Charlie. For once, Alaina's big mouth had paid off, because if she hadn't shared that she and her friends were going to a party that Charlie was throwing, AJ never would have even thought to speak to the kid today. Charlie was a nice guy, and when he interacted with AJ, AJ was happy to return pleasantries, but it wasn't a secret that Charlie was a bit of a try-hard. He always seemed to be doing the most for some reason, and a lot of the other A-listers were turned off by it, or just found him to be annoying. AJ wouldn't go so far as to say that he found Charlie to be a bother, but he also wouldn't deny that he understood where his friends were coming from. He couldn't blame Charlie for wanting to be friends with them and thinking that impressing them or talking their ears off would increase his chances of being accepted. It wasn't like he was the only kid who just couldn't seem to hide their fascination with the A-listers, and though AJ wouldn't say it out loud, he liked having groupie-like fans like Charlie around. There was nothing like a good old ego boost every now and then.

"Hey! Charlie!" AJ called out, catching up to Charlie who had left class before him. The odds were working in AJ's favor, since none of Charlie's friends were glued to him when AJ found him in the hallway. Though that wouldn't have stopped him from approaching Charlie, as the last thing that the B-listers were was intimidating, it just made things easier. He didn't need any of them in Charlie's ear or sending disapproving looks as AJ altered the plans of their night. "It's been a minute, man. I can't believe things were so crazy this summer that we didn't get to catch up," he said, shaking his head in disbelief, as if he hadn't ignored various attempts at socializing made by Charlie over the past few months. "But look, I'm thinking we start the year off right by doing something tonight. You down? I'll bring the people and the party, say... your place at eight?" It was bold to invite himself and his friends over to Charlie's house, but AJ spoke with such comfortable confidence that his words seemed natural, as if he and Charlie were truly friends and he genuinely wanted to hang out with him.

Charlie Jameson

Charlie was trying to focus on the lecture about the book they were reading, he really was. His fingers clicked away at his keyboard as he wrote down random phrases from the lecture as he tuned in and out, desperately trying to stay tuned in for longer than the latter. Focusing was never his strong suit, but focusing on something that he found to be inexplicably boring was a whole new level of impossible for him. Since taking notes on laptops was the norm at their school, the distractions were all the more prevalent since he had the entire Internet at his fingertips, plus the ability to text without it being wildly obvious to the teacher. Despite that, Charlie really did make a solid effort to keep his mind focused on class and on the days like today, where he was mostly successful, he couldn't be more relieved when the final bell rang. It was lunch time, the best time of the day, and Luna's suggestion that they get ramen made him even happier.

James was busy talking to their teacher and Ethan, along with the other guys Charlie usually hung out with, had already left the room by the time he headed out. Ethan texted him soon after though, and the message made him smile. He was excited for the party tonight. His parents were going out of town for the weekend so he had the whole place to himself, and that meant that he and his friends could drink as much as they wanted, and do whatever they wanted. He liked being able to contribute to the group, so it wasn't uncommon for him to volunteer his place as the party spot whenever it was feasible.

To: Ethan
💯 yea!! i'm thinking 8-9ish so come through man!

what are you doing for lunch? gang's getting ramen, come eat with us

With that sent, he headed down the hall, but was stopped pretty quickly by a familiar voice. It was probably pathetic how the sound of AJ calling out to him instantly made him smile, and it took a lot of effort on his part to not look around to make sure people were there to see that the AJ Clarke was calling out to him. Yep, you heard that right! Calling out to him. Wanting to talk to him. Wanting to hang out with him. Wait--what?! Charlie's face lit up at AJ's question. "Dude, that works out perfectly!" he agreed, clearly excited by the idea of AJ and his friends coming over. He didn't know that Alaina had told AJ about the party already, and only assumed that it was perfect timing--fate connecting them, even. "I'm having people over tonight. My parents are out of town all weekend, and we've got people bringing kegs and bottles and shit. You guys gotta stop by!"

"What, really? That's perfect, couldn't have worked out better then. So we'll see you at 8. Looking forward to it, man!" AJ responded.

AJ definitely wasn't fit to go into acting, but Charlie was awestruck enough that he was more than happy to believe that this was a happy coincidence. How cool was he going to seem, hosting the A-listers at his house? If AJ was going, that would have been more than enough for Charlie in itself, but if AJ was going, that meant all his friends were too. He was nearly bouncing with excitement as he headed out of the school and across the street to Constance Billard. "You guys aren't gonna believe what I've got planned for tonight!" he exclaimed as soon as he came upon the girls. "I won't give it away now, but just know that tonight's gonna be one for the history books," he insisted, completely serious despite how cheesy he sounded.

"If I go into a food coma because of all these carbs, you're responsible for taking notes." Alaina wasn't one of the types to (openly) restrict her diet. As far as anyone could tell, she ate what she wanted without any particular guidelines. She had been active all her life, and her metabolism spoke to it. Even if the amount of carbs would probably make her feel cozy, albeit sluggish, by the time they returned for their next class, she would just as quickly burn it off by the end of practice. "Well, now that I think about it, maybe I'd be better off relying on luck." She was being unfair to the both of them. While neither were particular geniuses, they weren't complete dummies either. Despite Alaina's foretelling that she would be snoozing through the rest of today's classes, it would take more than a bowl of ramen to have her slouching over onto her desk.

"If I could snap my fingers and make it tonight, I would. I don't know how you deal with Kat, because I swear to God if I don't have an entire dedicated....thing without Charlotte Graff somehow coming up, I'm going to lose my shit. Even when she's not there! My parents put Charlie to shame." The latter statement was certainly an exaggeration for both parties, but it still spoke to the truth of the fact that Alaina had seen more of Charlotte than she would have liked this summer, and that her parents adored the girl. Just as she was about to text the group chat to inform everyone where they were at, she heard Charlie's voice not too far away. "Oh, boy," she said with genuine, albeit apathetic, concern. She had no reason to be surprised that Charlie would have some sort of last minute exciting announcement, which was exactly why she was both worried and completely unphased. For all she knew, the exciting announcement could be that he just realized Disney owned Marvel and therefore they could binge watch the entire MCU movies from beginning to end tonight. That being said, even she wouldn't have expected the real reason behind his alleged surprise. "I take back what I said," she said, looking towards Luna. Looking back to Charlie, she folded her arms around her waist. "I feel like we very specifically said the vibe was anti-historical, so hopefully you're referring to the liquor because I want absolutely nooo recollection of tonight." It was then that she realized he was alone. She looked around to confirm that none of the others were in sight before turning back to the blonde. "You didn't drop the boys to come deliver this news, did you?"

Katherine Arnault | The Drama Queen
Katherine's expression grew more and more annoyed by the second as their teacher spoke to them, but she was more bothered by the circumstance than the words coming out of the woman's mouth. In fact, not a single word actually resonated within Katherine's head by the time the conversation was over. She was more so annoyed with Alex and just how much of a bother she was proving to be this year. Katherine really was convinced that the girl was obsessed with her, since she saw their interactions as Alex consistently bullying her without any sort of provocation on Kat's part. It wasn't necessarily the reality of the situation, but it was how Kat saw it in her head. "Yeah, and you better go catch up to the empty lunch table you'll be sitting at since you have no friends, freak," Katherine retorted once she and Alex had left the classroom. Okay, so it wasn't the best comeback in the world but... it would do. It was very Kat-like, nonetheless. She wasn't exactly the best at coming up with quick, witty comebacks, but it didn't stop her from trying.

The fresh air felt refreshingly overdue once she stepped outside. It didn't quell the pounding sensation inside her head, a signal from her body that she needed to eat something and also to stop stressing so much, but it was still appreciated over the stuffiness of the school. Her friends were probably only a few minutes ahead of her in their path to Paola's, and Katherine knew that she could easily catch up with them, but she hesitated. She was so tempted to walk home, and call her stepmother crying and demand that she call the school and tell them that Kat went home because she wasn't feeling well. Not only was it true (albeit it only with a headache), but she didn't want to deal with Charlotte and the girls right now, or finish the rest of the school day. This week in itself had dragged on for forever and a half, and the idea of being nestled beneath an endless pile of blankets in bed seemed heavenly. The wrath that she would face from her father and stepmother for pulling such a stunt made it seem equally hellish, but Kat wasn't one to really take consequences into consideration when planning her actions. The only thing that stopped her from walking in the direction of her house instead of Paola's was the girl, a year older than Kat, who bumped into her on her way out of the building as well. She was a part of the A-list, though one of the kinder ones, and she looked to Katherine with a sympathetic smile as she asked about the cancelled party before playfully wishing her the best in dealing with Charlotte's wrath. That was a wrath that was scarier than the one she would get from her parents if she chose the other option, so she found herself heading down the pavement towards Paola's.

She lacked any sort of excitement or enthusiasm in her journey, and only caught up to the trio when they were within sight of the restaurant.
"Hi, hi, hi, hi," she said, catching up with them. "Sorry, that stalker literally just won't leave me for a single minute," she said with a heavy sigh, as she ran her fingers through her hair. She was attempting to fill the silence to avoid any negativity that she feared was still brewing by Charlotte, or even by the other girls since the cancelled party affected them as well. "I just don't see why someone attacking me and throwing things at me is partially my fault, but whatever. What have I missed?"

Though he'd never admit to it, Malachai kept a pretty close eye on the Gossip Girl posts. Unfortunately, the same devotion to reading did not apply to the books for his English class. He could hardly bring himself to care about The Grapes of Wrath in the slightest. It was just another old, boring book to him. Plus, the plot was about some poor farmers or something? It was so disconnected from his own life that even the concepts of it felt foreign to him. It might as well have been written in German or something. He held the Sparknotes page open in the event that the teacher called on him for a response. Though he wasn't a model student, he tried to keep the illusion that he was a perfectly fine student. If called on, the last thing he wanted was to embarrass himself. If only this desire was strong enough for him to actually do his work. Oh well. Upon hearing the teacher mention they'd be writing essays soon, he made a note on his online calendar: ask Sila about Eng paper. With their friendship getting stronger, Kai felt he could probably ask her for a favor or two, especially when it came to schoolwork which she was so good at anyway. He felt a pang of hunger and realized that class should be wrapping up about now. Brown eyes flickered to AJ and he was reminded of the anonymous post. Over the day, he'd gathered the pieces and found that, for some reason, Kat was no longer hosting their party. Something had to be done. Kai would have offered up his own residence, but it his mother was hosting her wine club meeting. They called themselves a book club, but he hardly ever heard them talk about books.

The light of his phone caught his eyes and he quickly scanned over the message. It was genius, really. If Jameson was hosting a party, of course they were invited. That guy relished any opportunity to just interact with them. Having them over would be his dream. Plus, it was AJ asking - that alone was difficult to deny. Leave it to their dear King to fix an abysmal situation. Kai found himself in much better spirits upon reading the text. He grinned and texted back.

Txt if you need backup. La Boulangerie?

Though he doubted AJ needed any help, he figured he'd offer it anyway. The place he suggested was a nice little authentic French bakery/cafe sort of place. It always smelled like warm baking bread, it was near campus, and the food was good. Kai had toured many European countries over the course of his life, but he had a special place in his heart for French food. He didn't need anything particularly fancy today. All he wanted was a nice, warm croque monsieur - yes, he was a fan of the fancied up grilled cheese - and some coffee. Maybe a chocolate croissant if his sweet tooth acted up. He'd been frequenting the place for years; the staff knew him at this point. He'd charmed the older woman behind the counter over his time at the school. The brunette gathered his things, mouth nearly watering from the anticipation of going to get lunch. His fingers absentmindedly ran through his hair as his eyes searched for a familiar face and a head of wavy brown hair. When he locked eyes with his good friend, he couldn't help but flash a perfect smile of his. "Ezra, you ready to eat?" he asked, catching up to him. He strolled out of the classroom with the taller boy. There was just a comfortable ease when it came to Ezra. They'd been friends for so long everything felt natural.

"Looks like AJ's fixing the whole party situation. I wonder what happened with Kat. The girls have been sort of quiet," he remarked, glancing at his phone. Usually someone would've sent a lunch text, but maybe the whole party thing made it a get-lunch-separate sort of situation. It wasn't a huge deal - there were load of times when it was just him and the boys. He never minded, really. Besides, it was nice to have a break from the girls every now and then. They didn't exactly engage in objectifying locker room talk, but they were guys after all. There were some conversations the girls didn't need to be around for. It was nice to casually check in with AJ without Charlotte being around. Kai hoped everything was still going well between them. Upsetting Charlotte was never a pretty sight. It was uncomfortable for everyone. It made him wonder how Kat was dealing with it. Charlotte was great in doses; Kai doubted he could spend every day at her side like she did. But, then again, he supposed everyone had their own choices for who they called their best friend. It wasn't like his own wasn't flawed in his own way. He walked towards the little French shop, glad it was a sunny day - it made the walk pleasant. Once they were close, the smell of fresh baked bread made it obvious. "This, my friend, is the promised land," he said, opening the door. The older woman behind the counter peeked her head up and smiled at the pair. It wasn't uncommon for them to be seen together so often.

"Bonjour," she greeted them.

"Bonjour. Une noisette et un croque-monsieur, s'il vous plait," Malachai ordered. His parents had put him in all sorts of useless classes throughout his childhood: piano, horseback riding, tennis - all sorts of things, really. Most of them didn't stick. However, he'd taken French throughout his schooling as an elective. The main motivation was to be able to communicate during summer trips to Paris and Nice. It also came in handy when he charmed this little French woman and her rather attractive niece that worked on the weekends. He'd maybe hooked up with the mademoiselle once or twice. The woman nodded and he handed her his credit card without a second thought. The abuse he put that piece of plastic through was unreal. Perhaps the only one worse than himself in their friend group was Katherine. "And whatever he wants," he added, this time in English, with a gesture to his friend. Money wasn't much of an object to either of them, but this expedited the process with one transaction and it was a sort of symbolic gesture. He waited for Ezra's order before taking his card back and glancing around for a nice location to sit after she told them she'd bring their food as soon as it was ready. He spotted a table next to the glass wall. It offered the nice scenery of the city, but also had a great space for the group of them to sit. Plus, they'd be able to see AJ as he walked in. He took a seat and turned his gaze to Ezra. "Any big plans for the party?" he inquired, a playful glint in his eyes.

A_Writer A_Writer BurningBridges BurningBridges electric electric [/div][/div] [div class=post][div class=scroll] Sila fell silent again upon the mention of Katherine, though several unvoiced questions were swirling around in her mind. Wasn’t this uncharacteristic of Kat? Did anyone know the reason she’d decided to cancel? She prided herself upon the fact that, for the most part, she managed to keep herself out of all the A-list drama, but it also meant that she often found herself out of the loop and having to do a lot of guesswork. As much as she wanted more information, calling more attention to the strangeness of Kat’s behaviour that morning would likely only rile Charlotte up even more, and all Sila wanted at the moment was things to calm down and go back to normal. But it looked as if the party was going to happen after all, with AJ supposedly having found a new spot. She decided that was for the better; if their plans could go forward then they’d all have an easier time putting today’s drama behind them. “Ooh, that’s a good question, actually,” she said in response to Charlotte’s inquiry into what they’d be wearing that evening, mentally going through her wardrobe. She was pondering whether or not a specific silk mini-dress she’d bought the week prior would be too extravagant for a house party setting, when the topic of Richard still being interested in her was brought up. “Really?” She’d turn her head to look at Charlotte as she asked the question, but averted her eyes to look ahead again at her next comment. She brushed off her discomfort with a shrug. “I don’t know, he’s a bit much.” The truth was that Sila hadn’t been giving romance much thought, and she’d never been in a proper relationship. While that hadn’t bothered her previously, as she was more than busy enough as things were, it was something she was becoming increasingly aware of in recent times, and she was afraid of how the other girls might react if they found out. She was mildly relieved, then, when Kat arrived and they didn’t have to linger on the subject any longer. “Charlotte was just saying that AJ might have found a new spot for our party,” she responded tentatively, hoping Kat wouldn’t take it as a slight. Perhaps she’d feel better knowing that the party wasn’t completely ruined. [/div][/div] [div class=quote]veni vidi vici[/div][/div][/div]

Taking his lighter from his pocket, his face was colored in a warm orange for a split moment. He certainly didn’t care about the rules at school. While pushing the smoke back out of his lungs, he watched the display of his phone highlighting new messages from Charlie. Reading about his offer for lunch made him smile. Ethan couldn’t help it but his smile always looked mischievous as if there was something only he knew constantly. Well there probably was. Putting his phone back in his pocket, he was waiting for Charlie to exit the building.

„Charlie“, he called when he saw the blonde. Ethan approached him with slow but elegant steps as he always did. His footsteps made a sound on the concrete; authoritative and with purpose. It made Ethan seem as if he always knew where he’s going. „Ramen. That’s a good choice.“ He loved authentic asian food. He often visited China with his father. The eight treasures were his favorite meal - a perfect combination of carrots, beans, dried mushrooms and spices. He missed him. Somehow.

He was expecting that not everyone of Charlie’s friends was fond of him joining for lunch. Ethan wasn’t the one to care though. He was in for that awkward experience and would enjoy every second of it. Why? He just liked feeling each emotion wether it was happiness, anger, embarrassment or awkwardness. Although he had to admit that sometimes he grew tired of it as well. Feeling nothing at all is a different experience though, addictive and exciting.
„Tonight we will drink like kings. Believe me Charlie, I know how“, he grinned while sharing the pun of his last name with his friend. He wrapped an arm around the boy as they headed towards the Constance Billard school for girls. He knew a few folks there that he liked. Alex and Luna for example. Speaking of the devil, Ethan saw Luna walking out of the school grounds. The boys were getting closer. „Hey superstar“, he greeted her from afar and let go of Charlie just to spread his arms to welcome Luna. He didn’t quite know why, but when he saw her, he was energetic like a rocket ready for take off.

Charlie racked his brain for a second, trying to come up with some sort of slick reference to how Alaina should expect their be double trouble tonight, or that it was going to be a royal affair, but anything his mind presented to him was too obvious. He didn't want to give it away too soon, not because he was scared of their reactions, but because he really thought that this was going to be a cool surprise for later. He didn't want to spoil it too soon. It was bad enough that he was going to be so excited that he wasn't going to be able to focus on anything for the rest of the day, and he didn't want to screw them over by putting them in the same position.

"Whatever, whatever," he said, brushing off Alaina's playful critique of his wording. "Just know that it's gonna be sick. As always, your man's gonna come through with this one," he said, instinctively puffing out his chest a little bit. "And no, James was doing--" Charlie stopped himself midway through his explanation about James being busy doing something with their teacher, because Ethan joined them. He smiled at the guy, and the shared excitement he seemed to have over the party. Unlike the others, he knew that Ethan probably wouldn't be as excited when he eventually learned what Charlie's surprise was. Ethan had only recently been dropped from that friend group, and even Charlie was tactful enough to recognize that it was probably still an awkward soft spot in the guy's life. The fact that Charlie had befriended Ethan so easily and stuck by him spoke to how he wasn't just some A-list groupie. Even if they all rejected Ethan, Charlie was still, at his core, just a friendly guy. He wanted to be on good terms with everyone, regardless of what other people thought of them.

"Hey, man," he greeted Ethan, as he joined the group. He laughed at the reference to drinking like "Kings", and watched as he greeted Luna, subtly looking to Alaina with a raised eyebrow. Did Ethan have a thing for Luna? Was he encroaching on Charlie's non-existant territory? Or was he, like every other guy, just captivated by the reputation she had built for herself? Ethan and Luna were quite similar in their "fuck the rules" attitude, but as Luna's friend, Charlie also knew that a lot of guys viewed her as being... well... easy. A slut. It made him uncomfortable and he knew that Alaina was no different. However, Ethan was their pal, and Charlie had no reason to think that anything was up between the two of them. Taking a few steps in the right direction, he said, "Come on, the others can catch up with us. All that ramen's not gonna eat itself."

"Would you happen to mean before or after your imperial highness thought Salvation Army chic was the new black?" Ezra took his seat across from Malachai, eyeing the city on the other side of the glass. He actually wasn't as annoyed as he presently sounded. To be fair, most of the times he wasn't, but if you believed everyone around you was a mild inconvenience, you'd conserve energy by staying on the annoyed side of the tone spectrum. If this drama had occurred while they were children, he surely would have been more riled up, but over the years he'd learned that few things are really worth his time or energy. In fact, it was more entertaining to watch things unfold before him--so long as it didn't involve him directly. "Originally I figured I might consume copious amounts of drugs in place of using what little emotional capacity I have, and then filling in any leftover void with a warm body from the hotel, but now..." He pulled his gaze away from the cityscape, rolling them up towards the ceiling as he pondered. "I don't think even I'm cruel enough to subject a whore to the likes of this change of plans. Why abuse a woman in the ghetto when you can do so in a palace," he mused, not mistakenly referencing his father's own hotel of the same name. He placed the tips of his finger on the top of the table, leaning forward with a stern glance. "Plus, it's just so much more rewarding when they work for you. There's just something special about a woman who'll work for tips and still only come when called for. But I can obviously have that whenever, and the shift schedule keeps things interesting."

While certainly revolting, there was nothing but truth in his statements. At his fingertips was more than men twice his age would ever have. The thrill of most things had long since worn off on the young heir by now, and so he found that pushing boundaries, or merely outright ignoring them, kept him from putting a gun in his mouth. The thrill of exploiting his hotel's employees for his own fun was something that would soon grow old too; the disposability of money and women had not changed for him. The only thing that had changed was the setting. As far as he could see it, there was also nothing wrong, let alone false, in what he was saying. If anything, it was the very least he deserved. This city was riddled with freeloaders. The same people who called anything he did exploitation were the same people working at jobs on blocks that his father owned, walking through a city that belonged to him while singing rob the rich. Sure, his father had enough money to pay peoples' rent ten times over, but he also had enough money to not be impacted if those same people lost their jobs ten times over either. How he was the greedy one when he wasn't supposed to expect some sort of transactional benefit from the very same people who take up his space was something that couldn't manage to fathom. Contrary to what it might seem, he did appreciate a hard worker. He meant what he said that there were few things sexier than a woman working for tips when you yourself were the tip.

"I'm sure I'll have all the entertainment I need tonight, though. With Charlotte steaming out the ears, Kat crying in a corner for being as reliable as anyone can expect her to be, and A.J. still managing to get shitfaced, I think there might be some hope for tonight. But then again, I'm also in a good mood right now, so we'll see." As he leaned back in his chair, a smile spread across his face. "You're only a step above Charles, so I already know you'd be looking forward to tonight even if it were in Queens."

Luna was glad that the others seemed on board with going to Naruto Ramen for lunch, because she knew that it would hit the spot for her. She laughed at Alaina, playfully elbowing her in the side at the remark about note taking. "Bitch, you know I'm ten times smarter than you, so don't even go there," Luna shot back teasingly.

She nodded as Alaina spoke about how tonight would be a nice bit of respite from having to deal with the A-listers all week. Alaina's brother was AJ, so she was destined to deal with them constantly, and Luna's sister was Kat, so she was in a similar boat. While Alaina wondered how Luna was able to do it, living with Kat and all, Luna was certain that Alaina's situation was worse. Katherine was annoying beyond explanation, the level to which she could irritate Luna simply couldn't be put into words, but she was Kat. Luna could pinch her and kick her and hit her right back if Kat wanted to go there, as they often did. Even if they weren't biological sisters, their dynamic was close to it at this point, so Luna could dish out justice in any way she saw fit. Charlotte wasn't related to Alaina, despite likely being at her house frequently since she dated AJ. It didn't surprise Luna that Alaina's parents were enthralled by the Queen Bee--everyone seemed to be. She did a spectacular job at playing the part of a perfect angel, and it only made her more hate-able in Luna's mind. That facade she put up meant that Alaina couldn't be that rude to Charlotte, despite how well-deserved it would be, since she would be facing backlash from her parents and her brother. Since so many people were starstruck by Charlotte, it meant that anyone who defied her was basically the villain no matter the circumstances.

Luna didn't have that problem with Kat. Although she always played the victim card, her dad saw through it better than anyone else. Luna's mother was kinder to Kat than Kat's own father was when it came to their quarrels, but even Luna's mother knew how Kat worked. Luna would oftentimes be yelled at even when it wasn't her fault, but it was more-so because there was supposed to be an understanding that she not bother Kat, just simply to maintain the peace and sanity of the house and to avoid the crocodile tears.

"Yeah, I could never deal with what you've got going on," she admitted with a thoughtful nod. "Everyone in my house hates Kat so..." Her voice trailed off for a second, before finishing, "Even if I'm dealing with one of them, it's not in a setting where she's being fawned over like you're getting on your end. Me somehow being blamed for Katherine stepping on one of her own earrings in her own room doesn't sound as bad as it once did when I compare it to the image of you having to sit down for a family dinner knowing that Charlotte Graff just made sweet, sweet love to the boy you shared a womb with," she considered aloud, failing at maintaining a serious expression as a mischievous smile surfaced. That wasn't the nicest image to put in her friend's mind right before eating but it was funny enough to Luna to be worth it.

They reached the boys just a second later, and though Luna looked at Charlie skeptically around he spoke and then responded to Alaina, she didn't have much time to respond before Ethan arrived. She found him to be quite interesting, and had felt that way even back when he was an A-lister. He had always seemed like a lot of fun, and after getting to know him this summer, that proved to be true. She appreciated that he hadn't let the A-listers drain him of his personality and unique identity. The last thing that they needed was more of those clones running around. While many probably saw Ethan being dropped as something he needed to grieve over, Luna was happy for him. She doubted that freedom had ever tasted so good. Her skeptical look remained as he opened his arms for a hug to her, since Luna wasn't typically the most lovey dovey person, but she took a step towards him because... what the hell. However, she paused and scrunched her nose after one step. "You are out of your mind if you think you're going to have me smelling like cigarettes, Kings!" she scolded playfully, stepping backwards. Luna had a sensitive nose when it came to cigarette smoke, and even if one didn't have one lit in hand, it wasn't hard for her to smell the lingering scent on their clothes and body. She didn't like the smell in itself, but she was more concerned about the disapproving looks her teachers would send her if she came into class with her uniform smelling like that. She didn't mind the disapproving looks when they came with faults she had actually done herself, but she didn't need trouble for something she didn't do. She would leave that role for Alex, she thought with a smile. "I don't know why you even smoke those things!" she added chidingly. "We have check at our fingertips for weed, and you're still out here giving yourself lung cancer," she said, shaking her head as she followed Charlie's lead down the street. She looked to Alaina then. "Where did Kings fall on our A-list dumb scale ranking back in the day? Before or after Katherine?"

norah palmer!
▌INFO: on way to naruto ramen, with no one, messaged lauren. lauren. A_Writer A_Writer cure cure electric electric Sadistic Sweetheart Sadistic Sweetheart

Norah didn’t think herself to be very forgetful, but today was a friday and for her friday’s were always weird. Perhaps, it was just the sheer fact that the weekend had finally come or the fact that she knew that statistically there was most likely going to be a party. A party that she would find herself in attendance of. The reason Norah had been thinking about her own forgetfulness, is due to the fact she had forgotten her phone in her last class. How could she possibly forget her phone, well when you’re focused solely on the class and try to block out the shenanigans of your classmates anything is possible.

Norah’s leg bounced up and down incessantly, she knew that the end of class was soon, and so her friends were probably making lunch plans. Plans that she didn’t know of. She liked to focus in class, hell she liked her Health & Sexuality teacher. She was a nice woman, who was always understanding of any of Norah’s problems and always gave her extensions when she needed them. That being said, this woman could go on, and on. And all Norah wanted was for this to be over. Norah sat right at the front of the class so getting wouldn’t be hard but this didn’t make her any less anxious.

Then came the beautiful ring of the bell. Norah practically leapt out of her seat and burst out the door. She moved with the speed of who looked like they left the oven on at home or a parent who just watched their child pick up a knife. She wasn’t running, but she certainly wasn’t walking. She avoided bumping into other people, or the teachers. She was a woman on a mission. She barged into the room, stunning the teacher who was sat marking papers.

“I-I left my phone, here,” Norah stammered out moving towards the desk where she had sat.

“Ah, well hopefully you find it,” The teacher said, almost skeptical but more confused. Norah nodded in response pulling her phone from out of the desk.

“You, um, have a nice day ma’am,” Norah said backing up back towards the door.

“Yes, you too Miss Palmer.”

And with that Norah left, she quickly scanned over the texts she had missed, before sending one of her own,

-on my way left my phone in SAP class, be there soon

Norah than began moving quickly, slower than before but with speed towards the main exit ready to see her friends and eat some ramen.
