"Growf!"
There once was a country girl who left home for the Big Apple to make it big despite all the warnings from her family. She left on bad terms, the non speaking terms. It has been 14 years and two husbands later. Her first husband left her with two kids. Her second husband brought two with him into the marriage and gave her another and died. Her third husband turned out to be already married, and ran up credit cards in her name leaving her destitute.
So she finally decided to return to Montana to her parents, where they agreed to put her up for a while until she got on her feet. They live in a modest 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. It is going to be VERY crowded.
She should be about age 32 with the oldest kid about 12. And if it is a girl, probably checking the bars on her cell phone and realizing there are none. Maybe 11, 9, 6, 3 for the others? (Note: I am not set on the numbers. Just wanted to have her hands full.) Everything she owns is in a beat up mini van pulling a small U haul trailer.

Enter our rancher. Well, he owns a ranch, though technically it is just hunting land as he has only a few cattle, some goats, llamas, a few emu, and chickens, plus one horse that only he can ride. He is young, strong, handsome. No, no … you do NOT need that!
So how do you two meet? Well if you had meant for it to happen it would have been the oldest ploy in the world. Your car broke down a couple miles out of town. And your parents weren’t answering the phone. (At least it was the beginning of summer. Your parents had helped with the last couple months' rent so the kids could finish the school year.)
Well in a town like Anaconda, MT population 9131, almost 9136, people are just a tad bit friendlier to a single woman with a gaggle of kids stranded on the side of the road. He pulled his SUV over just ahead of her. Then he got out and walked back holding up his cell phone.
Characters
We will need a CS for all the characters. The kids can be a bit more skimpy. For them I am NOT looking for kids with mental issues like autism, etc. I want kids that our characters can interact with normally. But they should have some quirks. Like needs the light on to sleep. Afraid of storms. Stuff like that. They will be city kids though. The only horses they have seen pull those fancy wagons near Central Park.
