Golden oldies?

As one of those exalted players who didn't start collecting books until second edition, I'm now wondering if maybe there is anything I'm missing out on. So I ask this:

Are any of the 1e books still worth purchasing, or is all the stuff in there revised and republished in various 2e books?

Well, the Fair Folk and Autochthonians hardsplats, though Graceful Wicked Masques is coming out in December.

The Caste and Aspect books--I like the fluff, but unless you can get a really good deal for them, they're probably not worth it.

I don't believe Creatures of the Wyld has been comprehensively duplicated. Until Terrestrial Directions: North comes out, Bastions of the North is still the foremost detail book on the North. Time of Tumult has several good adventures and background. I don't recall if the water-based rules from Savage Seas have been covered/revised in 2nd Ed, but the fluff is good. Manacle and Coin is excellent if you want the lowdown on the Guild. While Rathess and Halta were covered to some extent in TD: East and elsewhere, Kingdom of Halta and Ruins of Rathess has a great deal more information and nitty-gritty. Houses of the Bull God remains the definitive word on Harborhead. Ditto for Cult of the Illuminated. While Lookshy has been given a decent amount of ink in 2nd Ed, the other groups in Outcastes (the Wyld Pirates and Forest Witches) have not been reprinted. Some people dislike them, others love them.

As for the Players' Guide, if you like Merits and Flaws, you'll find them here. More details on playing non-Exalts as well, though I suspect Scroll of the Lesser Races may address that point.

If you like Terrestrials, I really recommend the Aspect books, their mechanics are not that great (And many of it's reprinted too) but the backstories and fluff sections are made of pure genius and win.

"Effects of Essence on Cellular Transport Mechanisms?"

First edition had a number of nation-level books, which don't look like they will be (entirely) replicated in 2e: Houses of the Bull God, Kingdom of Halta and Ruins of Rathess. Some of the information in them has been duplicated, but not with the same depth. Since at least two of these were some of the better 1e books, I'd say they are worth getting. It also seems unlikely that they will reproduce Cult of the Illuminated or Manacle and Coin, either. I'm a sucker for books like the latter, so I'd say get at least that one.

This is probably not going to help you much, but I use all my 1E books aside from the hardbacks. And even then I use the Autocthonians hardback and the Players Guide (for the Merits and Flaws). If you can find 'em cheap, I'd pick 1E books up. If you're not interested in that idea, then elaborate on what you find interesting in Exalted, and we can narrow down the field for you.

The rules for sea-faring have not been republished in 2nd Edition. They were dropped from the West book due to size constraint.

These were mostly reproduced in Wonders of the Lost Age and Scroll of Kings.
