Fantasy Gods Among Us

Vudukudu

Farseer to the Warsong Clan
Some call it the greatest boon to humanity in all history. Some call it an injustice. Others take no stance, merely letting this event come and go, as all things do.

They walk among us now, hidden behind masks and uniforms. We had seen Superman in the comics, seen Batman on the silver screen. But now, these titanic figures walked the very streets beside us, and nothing has ever been more terrifying.

We all know the nature of man isn't necessarily benevolent. And these.. abilities, powers, talents, gifts, whatever you call them, seemed fairly random in their distribution. What this meant for us, the ordinaries, was that we were now at the mercy of beings one evolutionary scale ahead of us. We were weak.

The first appearance of superhumans came in July of 2015, three years ago now. A man, going by the name of Titan, appeared in the center of Times Square and declared himself the sovereign lord of humanity. He was, of course, initially mocked for his "super villain costume", foolishness, and apparent insanity. It was not until he lifted a truck above his head and launched it into the crowd that he was taken seriously. The NYPD sent a SWAT team to the scene, with a lethal order already in place. Bullets flew and deflected off Titan like a tennis ball off a brick wall.

He killed six hundred innocents, destroyed six municipal structures, disabled the subway system for two week's worth of expensive repairs, and the world would never be the same. We were powerless to stop him. The National Guard, the Army, he cut through them like a knife through butter. It was only when another of these superpowered enigmas arrived that he was finally stopped, at the cost to both of their lives.

All we know of him was that he was a businessman, judging from the suit he was wearing. To us, he was just an average guy, working in an office somewhere in NY. A nobody to the world, until the day he became a god. To honor his sacrifice, a statue has been erected at the site of the battle in Times Square, and his name omitted from the records to protect the first hero from slander. Some call him Prima, The First One. All we really know is that he died with Titan that day, in an immense blast of energy that obliterated two blocks worth of NY.

We don't know how it started, we don't know when it started, and we can't figure out if there even is a why. All we know is that we live in a new world, with gods among us.
