Awful, Terrible, No-good Layabout
God Needs Part Timers is an effort of an RP made by me in hopes that I would some day be able to run a proper and nice RP without it running to the ground, and the one having done the running been me. It is also an RP that was badly conceived in its first rendition and didn’t even make it past planning phase. Thankfully, this time, it should be much better planned, written, and overall improved on.
GNPT is a fantasy RP and a semi-deconstruction of the deconstruction of magical girl/boy plots, making especial jabs at edgy media similar to Magica Madoka and the RPs they inspire. The premise is, par the course of anything simj22 does nowadays, simple. Players take the roles of recently to-be-deceased mortals pulled out of their final moments to have a second go at life by meddling deities. The price of this? To be unsung heroes of humanity, anti-extradimensional warriors, brought together to act as a deterrent for any would-be dimensional invaders of this world and, if need be, as the first line of defense against them.
Presented with a form that can combat invading forces, weapons that transcend myth and legend, and a plethora of mystical powers to fill their arsenal, the heroes of this tale will be regularly drawn away from their lives to act as ambassadors, guardians, escorts, and other different assignments for the Gods.
Through it all, a greater evil power looms overhead, one that even the Gods could not have predicted.
Some questions answered
What is/are the setting(s)?
The general world where the characters go about their daily lives is basically Earth, with not much change to it. On the side of the divine, the Gods live in whole different dimensions, each of them differing based on how their respective owners like their deco. Combat sequences will be settled in eldritch spaces based on their inhabitants.
Who can our characters be?
Anyone from any point of their life, as long as they are within reasonable age, from any kind of job, any kind of background. What is mandatory, however, is the fervent want to keep on living, and a want to make things right in their lives.
What are the standards expected?
Let me set the bar here: I want proper grammar and full literacy of the English language. I don’t expect a thousand word essay for a post, but I do need something enough for others to work with and respond to.
As for characters, I should be fine with anything, even edgelords, but if there is a parody or satire that one is trying to make, I must be able to see the point it is trying to drive or the trope it is deconstructing. Pointless characterisation is, well, pointless, so avoid that, I guess. I should think I’m reasonable enough.
For posting speed, I’m fine with weekly posts, or even biweekly ones, so long as the interest still keeps up.
What is the cut-off quota of players?
I’ll try to keep it small, maybe up to 5? I’m willing to expand the number to 7 if I can do that.
How do you rate GNPT on a scale of cynicism?
A nice little 5. It will not be too dark and constantly heaping on depressing topics and stuff, but neither will it be saccharine and diabetes-inducing.
What kind of Gods are present?
All of the Gods that will be NPCs in this RP are NOT from any mythological beliefs or religion, and are completely new characters in and of themselves.o
Are you running this alone? What are your other concerns?
Yes. I’m currently in the military, and as anyone that has ever done their time as a soldier can attest, the resting time is short. I am a notoriously slow writer out of laziness, something I’m trying to work out of my system by trying to constantly update a Quest Log.
And that’s the gist of it. If any who are interested and have questions on anything, just ask me here or on PMs, though I encourage it to be here, so I won’t have to answer the same question over and over again on the PMs.
