Glories of the Most High

Any thoughts on what the third book in the Exalted upcoming-releases queue is? If it's high-essence charms and N/A artifacts, what is Scroll of Exalts supposed to be, then?

I honestly think scroll of Exalts is about the key NPCs of Creation and perhaps what life is really like as an exalt. Perhaps ways to describe their aging, their memories and outlooks, perhaps the effects of sorcery on the mind way more in-depth?

Scroll of Exalts is an NPC book.

Apparently nobody knows what GotMH is, but the best bets are on it being a new SAS. As there at some point was schedualed an unnamed Exalted SAS in the not so distant future.

Umm...dude, that's Oadenol's Codex. Some things from Savant and Sorcerer got divided into other books (demon summoning stuff is in RoGD II and spells in B&W Treatise), but the rest is in Oadenol's Codex.

SAS in 2E, or rather in current White Wolf terms means Storyteller Adventure System - so a new Exalted SAS means a new Exalted adventure.

I vote people spell out what they're referring to if it's the first reference in the thread. It helps keep things from being so esoteric and makes it more accessible to outsiders.

WW has been referring to that series of product as SAS ever since they started the line.

Uh.

I'd say their website blog and LiveJournal entries but I get this feeling that you won't count them as real and/or official.

Or maybe some of us don't watch White Wolf on Livejournal. Hell, I don't even use Livejournal. And the times I've been to their site, I certainly haven't seen it. I don't care if they're real or official. I never doubted that they used the word. I sincerely doubt they use it in any place where it could be considered part of every experienced Exalted players' lexicon.

The SAS is something they've been applying to all of their current products--nWoD, Scion and Exalted. It's more of a WW consumer's lexicon thing rather than an Exalted-specific lexicon. Not keeping up with the company's going-ons would explain why you were so unfamiliar with the term. :P

SAS in particular is very unambiguous, I believe. But I also think people should abbreviate things less.

No. But with game terms like "Fair Folk", "Heavenly Guardian Defence", "She Who Lives in Her Name"; and also with things that only you or a group of people related to you could possibly know, but some people still abbreviate, like "Homoeopathic Treatment", "A Beautiful New Day" or "Man, Isn't Nietzsche Evil?".

SAS has been referred to as SAS almost exclusively over the course of its history, though. Probably because "Storytelling Adventure System" sounds kinda silly, in the same manner referring to a radar system as a "radio detecting and ranging system" is.

Not that abusing acronyms help efficient communication over the Internets. When acronyms are used, people should be aware how well-known the acronym is and consider if they should instead write out the abbreviated words.

SAS

Every time I see SAS, I think of the British S.A.S., so I'm glad someone clarified it.

I just get really annoyed when people abbreviate Charm names without a reference to said name earlier in the thread.

Well, if Heaven Thunder Hammer ever decided to mention the Charm he took his name from, I might be ok with that.

I have extreme difficulties in imagining how the post that mentioned SAS can in any way be related to the British S.A.S.

Hey, ya orangy bastich.

I said it made me think of it, not that that's what I thought it was.

I knew it couldn't be the Bristish Air Force. I just had no idea what it was.
