Ghost-Blood Exaltations

Magic Eight Ball
I've been looking at making a Ghost-blooded as a backup for the campaign I'm in now but I'm not sure what happens if/when Ghost-blooded exalt. I saw the special note about half-castes but that was it.

My question is thus: Ghost-blood use necrotic essence (same as ghosts and abyssals). What happens if you exalt as something that uses living essence? Do you just get the standard pool of living essence or do you keep your smaller necro-essence pool too? And if you lose one side or the other are you able to use Charms/Arcanos with the opposite essence?

Most of these are probably ST choices, I'm just wondering if there are rules somewhere that I missed.

That's what we all said, but alas we did not miss them, the authors did.

The 'rules' for half-casts are rather broken, in fact most of that book is.

Sidereals p.49 has a box about Black Ice Shadow who is Ghost blooded turned sidereal. His entry in scroll of exalts doesn't say anything about arcanos and his essence pool is normal for a sidereal. I'm going to assuming the exaltation overwrites the old essence pool and you either get screwed out of ghost charms or you get your exp back.

Unless someone can contradict me.

The big box on page 104 of Scroll of Heroes, while mis-titled, describes what all blank-blooded do in case of Exaltation. They are using the term Half-Caste in that box not just as reference to the children of Exalted. You can tell because they then reference specifically God-Blooded.

That box handles mutations, and Essence pools. It doesn't reference Arcanos and other parent charms. I will investigate further, I vaguely recall there being a ruling, but their very well might not be.

Edit: after ctrl+f'ing every instance of the word "charm" in the Scroll of Heroes, the rule about what happens to your ability to learn and use your parent's charms is missing, or they found a way to say it without using the word "charm" anywhere in the vicinity. I would recommend asking the official White Wolf board their thoughts on the matter. You never know, maybe one of the freelancers will chime in.

edit edit: I personally would allow you to continue to use charms, and learn new ones if you pay for them as an Eclipse now.

From my experience of asking about rules from Scroll of Heroes on the WW board (specifically the reason the rules for Professions are broken so badly, must have the prereqs for the Profession to get the dots before BPs are spent, even though some Professions have Specialties that can only be bought with BPs...), the oft-times response is 'SoH is broken, ignore it. The whole thing.'.

Well, someone posted about fae-blooded Exalted being able to learn fae charms, and Holden chimed in saying that 1. SoH had issues and, 2. he would say that if you met all requirements you could learn fae charms at Eclipse cost. So that is the closest you will come to an official answer for awhile, as Holden (as well as some other freelancers) write the current Errata and just about everything else Exalted at this point.

link for reference.

So yeah, ghost-blooded Exalt, buy your arcanoi. You just lose all your mutations.

Where does it say that Exalting takes away your mutations?

I REALLY need to know where it says this.
