Chitchat Getting fired

So got told today that if I didn’t “improve myself” I would be getting fired in 30 days.

Which means one way or another I am not gonna be working at my current job any more.

On the positive side, I’m genuinely grateful they are giving me so long to find new employment and also kinda relieved I am finally getting that kick in the pants I needed to find something else.

On the negative side, it’s the beginning of a four hour shift and I’m trying really hard not to cry. And it’s frustrating because in all honesty I’m relieved I’m not gonna have to work here any more. So it’s not sad so much as stressed out crying.

But it is humiliating to have to sit next to your boss for four hours trying desperately not to cry when she and upper management just gave you your walking orders.

Yeah honestly I am trying to focus on the positive. The upper management at least seemed willing to give me a chance to improve.

My boss on the other hand just plain doesn’t like me. I had asked to set up some kind of evaluation process to see if I was “improving” so I might be able to salvage my job. (If for purely practical reasons, I don’t want to be looking for work in a pandemic).

But she has been kinda dismissive. So it’s like yeah I was right. They’re dressing it up in pretty language but I definately need to find new work in 30 days.

If nothing else we got like twelve fast food restaurants within walking distance. Not a dream career but enough to keep the lights on.

Oh do I feel this. I'm sorry. When I got fired just a little before the 90-day probation period at my job back in...2015, it was a good thing, but I still cried. That place wasn't a good fit for me, the internal drama of it was killing me.

Thankfully after that, I went through a temp agency, and I've been at my current job since then! I wish you luck on your next adventure -- and hey, don't neglect looking at temp agencies! It can lead to good things!

I will definately look into temp agencies, thanks for the advice.

And the potential to be free of the drama and toxic people at my current job is a big relief too. I think I kinda stayed on because of fear of putting myself out there (and you just get stuck in a rut) but I think this might be the kick in the pants I need.
