General Discussion

Should I give Istar's sword a name?

If it's made of such a valuable and rare material , has been in their family for generations (Elf generations , which means it's belonged to them for 2-3 thousand years by now) , and is so important to their lineage , shouldn't it have been named at some point? If not when it was first made and/or taken , at least somewhere down the line before Istar's mother or father received it - at least I'd think. I probably should've thought of this earlier , but unfortunately I didn't. I've been reading too much about Valyrian Steel lately , which is why that came to mind. I kind of figured I'd simply ask everyone here and get the general consensus on that idea.

Istar's families sword is Celebcarca, meaning silver fang, and was used in the defense of her ancient home forest and all the way back to Evermeet. It has been passed down to the single heir when they are ready to enter into the service of the Tel'Quessir (elven race).

Oh , that's a lovely name! And quite a lovely little history. She's upholding quite a lineage!

Are the first and second C's hard or soft? (As in , is it prounounced Kelebkarka , or Selebsarka?) I'm fairly sure that the last one's a hard C , but the first two could be either way (and I really want to make sure I have the pronounciation right , given it's near-paramount importance to her).

They are both Hard C, so the K sound for both.

So it is Keleb-KarKa.
Awesome! That's a lovely name for her beloved sword (which I don't think I have to say she'll ever replace , even for an actual Lightsaber) , and though she of course will have no trouble remembering it I shall commit it to memory! It also sounds dangerous , which should always be a must for a weapon as well-made and powerful as Istar's beloved Celebcarca , Silver Fang of the Elves and ancestral weapon of House Valerys!

Does anyone else think it's oddly coincidental that Istar and Rihaly's rolls and modifiers came out to be direct inverses of each other?

Perception rolls of 11+3 and 3+11.

We're going to be here a while I think! :3
And we also commented on this at the same time.

We may indeed be here a while. Especially since Istar has no idea what an Airship actually looks like beyond drawings and whatever her highly active imagination conjured up in her rapidly growing excitement.

Just give me a moment to handle this Diplomacy roll thing...

Might as well use it for Istar too right? She is a Paladin , of course she'll try to use her court-trained manners!

On the same halfling, or will Istar try her hand at another passerby?

Either way, yes please!

On the same Halfling. Don't worry , she's not going to just ask the same thing. That isn't her style - she knows when she's just parroting others! At least , most of the time.

I'm fairly sure I got that correct.

Charisma is a modifier to Diplomacy rolls , and she has 18 charisma leading to a bonus of +4. She has one point in diplomacy , but since it's a Paladin class skill she gets +3 to any roll with that skill , stacking on her regular skill points. She doesn't get any species modifiers , because she isn't a half-Elf (but if she was , she'd be the Cult of Personality for sure). So 4 CHA + 1 Diplomacy +3 class skill bonus = a +8 modifier to her roll. Is that correct , or was I mistaken?

*facepalm* No, that was supposed to be perception not protection. Autocorrect got me. I'll edit.

I've got my post ready to go , just waiting for what sort of roll I'm needed to use for what Istar's seeking to accomplish.
