That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
This is where we will hold all discussion related to the RP! Please remain active and vocal even if others seem to be quieting down a bit. It will help if someone is always there to poke the RP's OOC and keep conversation alive.

Thank you!

@ChoShadow So what are the age ranges. Also how are you converting actual words to dragon words, and finally how does the alphabet work?

Age ranges for Dragons or all of the races?

I am converting English words into Dragon words via no specific method.

The alphabet is basically the opposite of the Japanese language which ends all of its alphabet syllables in a vowel. I added more consonants and expanded the range of sounds produced, as Japanese only has, really, 46 syllables in its alphabet. Works for Japanese, but not this language.

When it comes to how the alphabet functions, it is literally just a host of sounds which are capable of being used when speaking the language. The syllables do not mean anything on their own. They must be used in combinations to create words with meaning in the Dragon tongue.

Hopefully that answers your questions. If you have more, feel free to ask away.

Can I just italicize the words when my character is speaking the dragon's language? I just can't be bothered to remember another language or constantly check back to make sure I got it right.

Hmmm actually there is a lot being said here so i think i am gonna hold up the character creation and soak up some more information...

@Beowulf

Glad to see ya here beo!

That defeats the purpose of the language even being part of the RP, so I cannot allow that.

Hoi Yons. And alright, I'll use the language. But when I do don't expect it to be 100% right.

If the language is that much of a bother I can change it to the language of the Gods instead so only Sil uses it while you are free to italicize your speech to emphasize Dragons speaking to each other in another Dragon language of their own, or any other race speaking their native language.

Makes sense.

@ChoShadow I was wondering what the age range was for Dragons?

Also how plentiful are the other races exist in this world and what magic do they have access to ?

Hinteresting. Glad I joined up, lol.

So, from what I've seen, is there no such thing as a creature like the Minotaur? I didn't see any race (or group of races, depending on how you look at it) labled "Halfling", which is generally what most semi-sentient monsters fall under when it comes to race choice.

So, to get to the tl;dr...

Can I make a minotaur character?

The other races are:

* Dragons = Population of roughly 300,000 worldwide (sounds like a lot, but it's very, very rare)

* Humans = Population of roughly 1 billion worldwide

* Elves = Population of roughly 24 million worldwide (Dark Elves are more physical and archer-based, High Elves are the rarest and are more magical, and 'normal' Elves are the most common and are somewhere in between the other two with respect to physical versus magical ability which is largely based on how they were raised)

* Dwarves = Population of roughly 43 million worldwide

* Nymphs = Population of roughly 1.6 million worldwide

* Fairies = Population of roughly 820,000 worldwide

* Orcs = Population of roughly 66 million worldwide

Magic is accessible to all races except the Dwarves and Orcs as they just weren't evolved to handle it. Elves are the most versatile (especially the High Elves who have the strongest magical abilities of any humanoid race) and have access to three categories of magic: healing, assault, and defense. They can use other basic spells like a light ball above their finger to light up dark areas, levitate (small) objects, etc.

Humans are the weakest, magically speaking, as they've only just begun learning about how to control and use magic over the last several hundred years compared to the other races who have always been born with their power and have an innate ability to understand how to use it from an early age.

Oh, and Faries are full human sized but with wings. They aren't the tiny sprites from other fantasy stories.

Nymphs are capable of literally becoming one with nature and disappearing into any living thing such as a tree, blade of grass, merging with an animal for transport or protection and then emerging later once they are safe, etc.

I hadn't thought about these kinds of creatures, but I see no reason to disallow it so go for it.

@ChoShadow is it okay if the dragon form is an Asian style dragon?

Absolutely.

And how large would the largest dragon be?

Sil'Eph Niir is the largest Dragon in either the Mortal or Immortal Planes of existence (save for a singular entity who will be revealed much later in the RP).

The largest Dragon living on Earth is roughly 400 feet from nose to tail and perhaps around 180 feet in height if walking on all fours, so they get pretty big.

Also @Scaver, a little backstory to help with your bio section:

Sil'Eph Niir did create the Dragons of her essence, but she did so via a very specific method and it's my fault for not detailing further in her bio how it was done.

So I shall rectify this mistake now!

She descended to the planet and used a portion of her own Life Force to create the first Dragons on Earth during the planet's infancy. These first Dragons died very quickly due to the planet's lack of proper atmosphere and underdeveloped magnetic poles which resulted in wild fluctuations of temperatures and climates. She waited several million years before trying again when the planet was more stable, and this time was successful in creating a batch who survived for a few decades. However this batch too died before being capable of reproducing on their own due to being too small to survive the larger life forms which had since developed alongside them.

Sil tried one last time a few million years later after recovering her Life Force. This time, however, she used a much greater amount of power to increase their size and this time gave them magical potential to further protect them from the formidable denizens of the planet. At first it seemed she'd gone too far as they were more than powerful enough to dominate the landscape. However she balanced this with the rest of the world by ensuring the Dragons could only produce one or two eggs per pairing during a mating cycle. As well their mating cycle is once every few decades, ensuring the rest of the world has time to adapt to the Dragon population. And finally she ensured they only needed to feed a few times per year which helped with population control and prevented the complete genocide of other species.

This third and most successful batch she lovingly labeled as her 'Children,' and she personally named each and every one of them though she never did so in person as she had since returned to the Higher Plane. Despite this, these Dragons all know what their names are and that they received their names directly from her. However they have never actually seen her nor do they know what she sounds like or even what she smells like. Nevertheless they all know their Mother by the fact that they share a tiny fraction of her Life Force, so when she descends upon the world shortly after the RP begins they will all sense her arrival instantly. Some will flock to her. Others will keep their distance. But they will all know she has arrived at last and it will be the dawn of a realization that either the world is facing a crisis, or their Mother descended to greet her Children of her own choosing which would be cause for great celebration.

That should cover the creation of the Dragons. Again I apologize for not making this clear, but your mention of Avo'hen Dreki being one of the first forced me to realize that taking this step was necessary.

This should help with your bio section with respect to his birth and relation to Sil.

Ok thanks, I'll just edit it to make sure that it's about the third attempt, also what are the age ranges for dragons.

The average life span of a Dragon living on Earth largely related to its size and its species. The largest species live the longest, sometimes tipping the scales at just over a million years of age before finally kicking the bucket. The smaller species usually live between 200,000-350,000 years.
