I'm thinking like, early Type II civilization level.
FTL travel would be a one way ticket at the time the rp takes place. I'm still sorta trying to figure out the why of it so :T
Probably a mix of like, bodily hazard and strain to the ship or something. So you like need time to replace the FTL engine thing and like recover from moving faster than physics allows.
Enough of the galaxy is charted that the setting of the rp is a solar system like hundreds of light years away.
