I rewatched FMA and Brotherhood with some friends this summer and fell in love with it all over again, so, I'd like to RP some stuff in its universe.
I REALLY like both versions, the story and world of 2003's anime and the story of world of the Manga/Brotherhood. As a result, if we play together, I require that you have at least seen both. Also don't be elitist, both stories are flawed and I'm tired of people pretending either is objectively better or worse than the other in every way. It's just personal preference!
To be more specific, if you want to play with me, make sure you have seen the entirety of:
1. Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 anime)
2. Conquerer of Shamballa (2005 anime movie)
3. Read the Manga, OR watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009 anime)
Alternatively, if you haven't seen one of them yet, but are willing to binge watch, that's fine too haha.
I really love how different both versions of the story are and I'd like to kind of create our own third version of the story, pulling elements from both, mixing, merging, and changing things from each or just making completely new characters and plot points, etc.
I'm totally fine with creating new characters, OCs, shipping, and going really out there with how we diverge the story, but there ARE a few things I'd like to keep consistent. This is mainly because, if we changed literally everything, it wouldn't feel like a third alternate timeline anymore, it'd feel more like...well, just fanfiction!
So I made a list of "constants" I think are important to keep consistent, which all apply to both 2003, Brotherhood, and our version of the story. They're mainly just character backstory stuff I'm not willing to change.
Additionally, there are also some things I am absolutely NOT willing to play, particularly for ships. Those are here:
Aaaand lastly just some stuff about me as a partner/person:
if any of this sounds interesting please shoot me a DM and we can discuss stuff even more, what sort of changes or additions we'd like to see, etc.
EDIT:
In case it wasn't clear--I like canon x OC ships and canon x canon ships! Can also ignore shipping entirety and just focus on exploring non-romantic dynamics. I like romance but it's not a requirement or anything!

The general setting, technology, and time period will be the same. So major cities like Resembool, Central City, and Liore/Reolle will look more or less the same. No fancy cars or having internet and electronics. No suddenly being in modern times (at least by default....given what 03 does with The Gate things are certainly liable to change!)
Ed, Al and Winry growing up together in Resembool, and in general being friends.
Winry's parents being doctors who died, for whatever reason, during the Ishval war.
The Ishval War happening in general, although how exactly it played out and who was involved is up to us, as long as Mustang and Armstrong were present for it.
Ed and Al's dad left at an early age and their mother died, making them seek out an alchemy teacher named Izumi and eventually performing forbidden human transmutation to try and revive their mother.
Ed and Al lost parts of their bodies in the process and desire a Philosopher's Stone to try and fix things.
Lust, Envy, Gluttony, and the original Greed's designs and names. They are consistent in both versions, so I think we should keep them consistent as well, although we're free to mess with anything else about them!
Everything else aside from those, in my opinion, crucial background details, are liable to be changed and tweaked at our discretion!

Additionally, there are also some things I am absolutely NOT willing to play, particularly for ships. Those are here:
Solf J. Kimblee being romantically shipped with anyone. He's a literal murderer in all versions and proud of it, I will not romantacise a character like him, and I will not make a more "palatable" version of him just because some people think he's hot. It just feels super gross and irresponsible to do that. Similarly, no romanticising the literal Nazi characters from the 2003 version.
Giving the Elrics a third sibling is also off the table. It's just cliché and I don't like it, we can be more creative than that!
Genderbending characters. Especially if it's to make a ship that would be gay into a straight one.
That....is pretty much it honestly lol.

Aaaand lastly just some stuff about me as a partner/person:
I have been rping and writing for over a decade at this point! I like to think I'm pretty good at it too.
I tend to write as much, or usually a bit more, than what my partner writes for their posts. I'm noy picky myself but I won't play with one liners. Myself, I usually write about 7 sentences minimum and easily go into the double digits.
I only write thirdperson, usually past tense but can also do present tense. I won't play in firstperson, simply because I am really bad at it.
I really love MxM ships but will play any gender pairing! If I make an OC myself it will be male most likely.
Also, I enjoy writing multiple characters, doubling up, seeing multiple perspective simultaneously, and the like, but I'm also perfectly fine focusing on small groups or duos of characters.
I like talking to people but I'm bad at small talk and pretty awkward at times, so sorry in advanced for that.
