Dense Woods A

During our last journey, our three inexperienced adventurers had gone through their initiation commission, otherwise known as their debut or first commission, received from the Guild of Adventurers! After the terrible events which had unfolded within the Haeddre Village and with a few casualties and the help of other brave miscreants, our three initiate adventurers had successfully completed the commission! Although Nox may have hoped she'd never have the need to return to the Aubade forest, she would be sorely mistaken.

An anonymous commission from the Adventurer's guild entails that someone must retrieve a mysterious artefact for them which likely resided within the abandoned 'Temple Of The Sun' within the Aubade forest. What temple of the sun you may ask? Well, the rumoured mysterious and magnificent temple of the sun which has been left unused for many long years. However, there within the forest, lays an alluring danger. After all, for some reason, many adventurers have been going missing while trying to traverse the large terrain up the temple.

Did I mention that the temple resides on a tall and very steep hill? It's also quite the hotspot for bandits and thieves who have been trying to get into the temple for ages and loot the place. Soleilites (Those who worship the god of the sun) weren't very stingy in the past and spent quite a fortune to make the place quite the splendour, especially for when it bathes in the "divine" light of the sun. Although it's an abandoned temple, there's something strange that stops people from trying to enter it...

On another note! Have you heard? Roaming around those parts are sightings of a beautiful maiden who looks like someone straight out of a fairytale! Truly, this area of the woods is a great word of gossip, especially amongst housewives who have nothing better to do. Well, all of that is just gossip and potentially groundless rumours. It is now up to our Adventurers to traverse through the forest and find this mysterious temple of rumours!

Connor, Nox and Shael would find themselves within the aforementioned place of rumours, and quite like the rumours had said, they were now indeed traversing up a steep hill.

It took them quite a long time to get here, it was already past the evening. Although, despite the place being shrouded within eventide hues, and despite the winds of autumn swathing the continent... It was oddly warm here. Like, very oddly warm, the leaves of the trees were also dyed in this warmth. Seeming dry as if they had scarce any water. There was barely any form of path which would help guide the group in the correct direction so it would seem they'd have to traverse the hill based on how the trees had framed it...

That was when the group would be a fork on the way up. The roads split, and the northern path had two pairs of footprints, suggesting that two other people were going up the hill as well... For some reason, and on the side on the southern path. Was a rabbit. Just a plain white rabbit with violet eyes hopping around a tree. Dried leaves that have fallen from the ashen trees were scattered on the floor, crunching while the group walked.

The stars were beginning to sparkle in the sky, appearing as the sun had set as the first quarter of the moon showed her face within the deepness of the black sky. The wind was fluttering quite subtly, making the trees whisper in the night. Somewhere in the woods, an owl somewhere could be heard hooting... More eerily, somewhere deeper within the woods, past the crickets chirping was a very subtle hum that shrouded the fluttering air. Flowers low on the ground grew, peeking through the dried ash leaf floor with their yellow petals.

A new adventure awaits, and this time, they were given the task of exploration and artifact retrieval. At an old and abandoned temple, no less. Connor was unfamiliar with travelling a significant distance in what was essentially the wilderness. Winding trails instead of well maintained roads calls for more care and effort to actually get where one needs to go, and more effort did they need. He now even had an actual travel pack he carries around for supplies, alongside his violin case strapped onto its side. The experience was all quite thrilling for Connor, the arrival of the moon even prompting him to briefly hum a melody to go along with it, but soon sighed at the thought of more forest traversal that they had to do. The stars up above have already revealed themselves, and they still had some ways to go, he thought. It was actually quite nice, the sea of trees framing the night sky… If you were to ignore the risks.

They weren’t exactly in a safe place, their experience just a while back will agree. Why else would adventurers be needed for this task? Connor was now alongside Nox and Shael, two others that were with him during their initiation for the Adventurer’s Guild. He was glad for their help back then, and started talking to the both of them during their downtime after initiation. Grouping up was a relief, and being with familiar faces would hopefully let Connor focus without too much worry.

They steadily made their way up the incline, and eventually reached a fork in the path. He squinted his eyes with the effort of only having the dim moonlight to work with, but on his left, there were visible footprints. On the right, there was nothing much, just wildlife it seems. Connor shrugged and looked over towards his companions.

“Are there really no good maps of this area?”

He asked, but didn’t expect an actual answer. Connor wasn’t an expert on it, so he was wondering what it would even look like. Trees? He gestured towards their left.

“...Do we follow those footprints?”

Under the moonlit sky, Nox and her two steadfast companions ventured cautiously through the dense forest. The silver beams of the moon cast intricate patterns on the ground, creating a mystical and eerie ambiance. The air was laden with the earthy scent of damp moss and the faint rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Nox for the most part led the way, her senses attuned to every sound and movement around her. Her steps were deliberate, each footfall landing softly as she navigated through the uneven terrain. Ever since being reincarnated she felt most at ease when in the depths of such a forest. A strange happenstance given how she was never one for camping in her previous life.

That said this was not some simple camping trip. Their journey was not one of leisure; they knew that the forest was teeming with nocturnal life, both benign and potentially perilous. The hoot of an owl resonated in the distance, a haunting melody that only added to the atmosphere. Yet, despite the potential hazards, the trio pressed forward, bound by their purpose, a quest. A quest to seek out and find a mysterious artifact from a long-abandoned shrine. A shrine that, quite annoyingly reminded Nox of the fae seer she had previously had the misfortune of running into.

As they continued deeper into the woods, the woman's heartbeat in harmony with the rhythm of the night. Her instincts honed by experiences she knew not a thing about, she sensed a subtle shift in the atmosphere – a hint of movement, a fleeting shadow. She raised her hand, signaling her companions to halt. Alas, upon further inspection, it was but a rabbit beneath a nearby tree.

With a soft sigh, Nox eased her posture but remained on guard against the backdrop that was the forest shrouded in night. Listening to Conner as she carefully observed both paths and the rabbit itself. "I did ask around but apparently no accurate maps of the area are in circulation. Though, given we're searching for a relic, it would make sense for those in the know, and also doing so would want to ensure others were at a disadvantage.".

Looking to the footprints Nox followed the footprints with her eyes "It would seem like a good place to start. Though we have no way of knowing if they too seek the temple, they do seem to be heading the right way. What about you Shael? You're basically the leader here. It's your call.".

Looking back to the Rabbit Nox thought to herself it was odd to see it scampering about so casually. The trio were clearly in its vision and yet it hadn't made an attempt to flee. Not only that but it was rather exposed, this forest was sure to have predators and likely monsters roaming it. So then why was it being so bold and blatant? What an odd little rabbit. "I don't like that rabbit, stay away from it. It's acting strange and I'm having none of it.".

Shael wasn't exactly the most thrilled eternally that she, a Lune Elf of all things, a follower of the moon was going to partake in venturing to a Sun Temple of all things. It was the antithesis to her people's devotion, a false idol even to some of them more religiously conservative types found in the Lune Elf villages, but even so, a quest was a quest, and she needed to acquire more wealth and standing in the adventurer guild if she wanted to make something of her life and help people along the way.

Thankfully the forest at the very least was rather beautiful in her opinion as things should be. Minimal development and living along side nature was truly the right way to live in her mind, the Lune elf way of living was evident of that enough with tree houses spread throughout and even larger trees above creating canopies of shade through many Lune elf villages. It really had been awhile since she had stared on her quest, Shael wanted to keep a mental note that she should probably go back and visit her parents at least once every ten years, that seemed only fair with all that they had given her in this world to get to where she was now..but those thoughts aside which had gone through her mind on this quest, now she needed to refocus on the present.

In the present she was with Nox and Connor, both whom at this point after the bugs, she felt had noble enough goals and the fact that she could count on them. While Shael wasn't always the chattiest on her own volition particularly at work, she was good at listening and at least showing she was paying attention, giving responses here and there. Shael found the temperature to be rather peculiar of their environment particularly given it was night, thanks to her dark vision however, her sight was relatively unimpeded by the regular darkness that occurred from night, and of course there was the moon which provided some natural light as well. Listening to Connor at least gave a rather pleasant backtrack even if their environment wasn't necessarily the safest to be in.

She too once again observed her surroundings once they got to the crossroads.

"Many mapping attempts have been made all over the realm, since there are potential valuables around here ,I think it is likely some may exist, however I am doubtful, as Nox says, that any are in easily accessible circulation to just anybody, with that said we should exercise caution, if there are valuables still here that people have not plundered, then reason would suggest that there may be reasons which have prevented them from doing so, possibly dangerous reasons."

Upon considering the options she was in agreement that the animal was behaving strangely, whether it was a good or bad thing she was unsure, but there was no real reason to risk interacting with it, if it was interested in them it could just come to them.

"I agree, regular prey like that wouldn't be out like this at night, while I am uncertain if it is a threat or not, we should be wary just the same."

She then looked to the footprints.

After hearing the others, a bit surprised to hear Nox essentially call her the leader, she replied, "I do not see the harm in starting by following those foot steps to investigate the area further, worst case scenario if they lead us no where helpful we can head elsewhere, best case, it'll lead us to the temple or something else of interest and value."

She replied, reasoning out the logic, even if they weren't heading to the temple maybe there was another site of something else of value here they could find, there were plenty of possibilities.

Dense Woods A

A warm wind fluttered by, dancing between the trees. the moon yawned. The stars twinkled in the far distance, that no here in this group was able to reach. It was likely, that one of them, may fall tonight. Although 'likely' could mean anything.

As Nox would glance at the rabbit, one of its ears would twitch. At that moment, the rabbit turned and looked back at Nox. The rabbit seemed smaller than what was usual of the creatures, it was more the size of a mouse than a rabbit. The rabbit's violet eyes gazed in marvel, as it skittered closer to the group. That was odd. However, all the more strange was how the rabbit's moon-dyed fur seemed to shimmer in the moonglow.

Hop, hop, it was then that the creature had come quite close to nox. Standing and gazing up at her, crouching as if to wind up, and with great height..? Hm? It disappeared.

Although that was incorrect, Nox would feel a warmth atop her head. Perched on Nox's head, was where the rabbit went. This would confirm it, this was likely not an ordinary rabbit.

.

.

.
Once the group did indeed decide to follow the way of the footprints, they would find that the path had nothing out of the ordinary as of yet. Fluttering on the scarce wind, a moth with ashen tree colours would float on by. Likely it searched for something to eat.

For the moth, it was flying through a magnificent glade, with large pillars stretching into neighbourhoods of birds perched upon branches and insects who lived beneath ashen leaves, it was flying much higher than any ant could climb. The night was its day, and right now it was morning. To the moth, Connor, Nox and Shael were not ordinary in the slightest, they were colossal beings that could expire its life with little care. Sublime creatures untroubled in their lives which seemed eternal to a moth who at most live only 3 months compared to a human's 90 years, much less a fae!

However, that was all the creature was. A mere moth without a name. Although, the moth had something that these sublime and massive creatures did not, in that it would never question and ask why it even exists or what purpose its life must serve.

Bisque Gossip Amongst Perennials

The flowers were whispering, but to any other person who speaks not to trees or grass, or the humanoid body of many gardens of flowers, they sounded nothing more than that of the humming wind. However, Shael was but one of those people who speaks to the collective body of flower patches. So, she could hear them, loud and clear.

{"Huhuhu~ Look at that ones hideous stubs!"} {"Such grotesque! Their stems are much too fat and stretched!"} {"Them duo also share monstrous eyes!"} {"Huhuhuhu~ If my petals were that speck of light, I would tear them out!"} {"So shameful, huhuhuhu~"}

{"But... Such pallidity! The other one too! Huhuhuhu~ Scarce for those sorrow-coloured eyes and the other's blighted ones, they could be the belladonnas of the fields!"} {"Huhuhuhuhuhu~ Many convallarian wander around this eve'~!"} {"One looked so wilted! And that blue-cap'd one was so adamned as to scowl at us with such hild!"} {"Truly! Ears athorn with a thorn-laden gaze!"} {"More an alba rose's briar than a lily of the water, I would!"}
The bisque-petal'd flowers all then laughed, as they continued to whisper and gossip. Unaware of how truly loud they were. At the very least, the flowers weren't exactly silent in their eavesdropping.

It was strange honestly. Not that the flowers were talking, but the fact that they were talking during the night. After all, most flowers sleep once there is nary the sun to bathe within. Yet they were swaying frivolously in the scarce air, as the moon gazes with pale eyes from afar. The moon was not the only one who could see, for Shael's shadow-attuned eyes allowed for her to witness the shifting leaves, as the group themselves would hear the rustle of movement as leaves fell from the trees' heads...

Despite the groups discussion, the rabbit seemed to have no intention of going away, now that when Shael looked at it, the rabbit actually seemed rather..small for what she associated a rabbit's size to be given that it didn't look like a small one in age. Then there was it's eyes, and how it's fur shimmered, it was actually rather cute when she took some time to analyze it, but then suddenly the rabbit hopped, it hadn't been threatening enough for Shael to draw her weapon on it, but it had been surprising as her eyes widened briefly, as it looked like it had practically vanished from existence, but then she noticed the rabbit on Nox's head of all places not long after...yes indeed it didn't seem like it planned to hurt them based on that, as it probably would have done that already if it was planning on it, in Shael's mind at least that was logically the case.

She looked to Nox and said, "Are..you alright? If it isn't doing anything strange or to hurt you then, I think it's safe to say it isn't an enemy."

"If we're fortunate, maybe it's actually an ally." She said sounding a bit optimistic.

All she could really do was hope that Nox would be able to be chill and not attack the thing if it wasn't hurting her, plus if it was a monster, as Nox had shown earlier, she was highly reactive to them, so if she determined that she'd have no qualms with killing it with her strong compulsion, perhaps it was a fae of some kind? Best case scenario it was there to help them worst case it was plotting for when it was going to ruin their day, but just out of intuition, Shael did not believe that was the case.

...There were many questions, but for now, the group moved on with the rabbit, as evidenced by the transition. As they moved on Shael kept an alert look about her, scanning the area, paying attention to the ground in front of her too, not wanting to get caught off guard by the likes of a mere out of place root or something similar. She had taken notice of the moth, as well as the nature all around them once again taking it in more carefully. She actually smiled faintly at the moth, moths were of the night and she couldn't help but find them to be elegant in their own right.

Once they properly reached the flowers however, Shael stopped for a moment almost having a double take when she reassured herself she was hearing what she was actually hearing, these flowers were talking... Of course some flowers could talk in the See, so why where they currently differnent? but she hadn't been expecting them to be doing it at night..there seemed to be some sort of theme here..things that usually happened during the day were happening at night..Shael coulnd't help but mentally wonder to herself if it was because they were getting closer to this Sun temple, perhaps it was emitting some sort of magic domain..or something of the like.
Shael did determine however that not only were the flowers talking but they were verbally roasting the three of them for not making very attractive flowers in their mind it sounded like. But if they could speak Sylvan, then that meant that she should be able to speak to them. Thankfully for the flowers Shael was not the vengeful sort who would harm them over this idle gossip even if it wasn't exactly the kindest. She did realize this might be an oportunity to ask them something so she spoke up in Sylvan herself softly, as she turned to them and crouched a bit,

{"I do not mean to disturb you at this hour..but you see we are on a quest and are looking for the temple of the sun, you wouldn't happen to know if we are nearby or on the right path would you?"}

She asked the flowers, however not long after she asked that, Shael had noticed the shifting leaves and heard the rustling, and took an action stance pulling out her Eclipse bow which glowed a feint more redden blood moon like hue in the darkness, pointing it in the direction where she had heard the sounds.

"Something's here, be ready just incase." she said in common now to the rest of her party

“Yeah, that makes sense.”

Connor sighed at both Nox and Shael’s response. This is what they signed up for, so there really isn’t much else that they could do aside from pushing on as best they could. Nodding along with their brief discussion, he idly watched as the rabbit hopped over towards the three of them, seemingly interested, before jumping towards Nox. Connor was left blinking in surprise as the small furry animal instantaneously moved right on top of Nox. He still did not know for sure what was happening, but the corners of his mouth twitched upwards as he gazed at it.

“It doesn’t seem to be hostile...? We can keep an eye on it, but I don’t mind it tagging along.”

If he were to be honest, he found the little creature actually pretty cute, a welcome sight after spending way too much time seeing nothing but trees for most of the day...

The trio, now with their new fluffy companion, continued to press forward, following the footprints. Connor’s muscles were starting to become a bit fatigued, but it was still nothing he can’t handle. He has his brother to thank for that, their consistent training and preparation being a wonderful way of building up his physical fitness. His eyes wandered about, alert for any signs of danger, or signs of their objective. Nothing really was standing out to him, and he kept pushing forward, when their de facto leader stopped without warning and crouched beside some flowers.

“Shael?”

Connor paused and raised his eyebrows. Maybe she found something. Or maybe she just likes flowers that much. He was just about to ask her about it when Shael started speaking in a foreign tongue that he wasn’t able to comprehend, promptly making him go silent. Trusting her to have found a clue, he stood and kept watch over the surroundings, waiting for her to finish. After a few moments, the distinct sound of movement within the trees made Connor twitch, and seeing Shael immediately react to something was all the confirmation he needed that something was up. The three of them have been travelling for quite the distance without anything interesting really happening, he was actually entertaining the idea that they might reach the temple without incident. However, this sudden development has sent Connor into full alert. He nodded at her warning, one hand reaching back to rest on the clasp of his beloved violin case, not daring to speak as he tensed and focused his senses.

~'Nox'~

1691937553420.png
The small rabbit, perhaps drawn by curiosity or mischief, leaped from the underbrush and landed atop Nox's head. The woman's expression shifted from serene contemplation to a mixture of surprise and mild displeasure. Her brow furrowed and her lips twitched in a momentary reaction to the unexpected intrusion.

The rabbit perched upon her head, its furry form seemingly unfazed by its unconventional choice of resting spot. It twitched its nose, its ears alert, as if surveying its new surroundings from this elevated vantage point. Despite the initial annoyance, the woman's features softened as she regarded the creature with a blend of bemusement and reluctant amusement. After a brief pause, during which the woman and rabbit seemed to exchange silent observations, her expression gradually eased. A small chuckle escaped her lips as she tilted her head ever so slightly, allowing the rabbit to find its balance. Her irritation transformed into a resigned acceptance, a recognition that sometimes nature's whims could be both puzzling and endearing.

Continuing along the path alongside Shael and Conner, Nox adjusted her pace to accommodate her unexpected passenger. The rabbit, its presence now a shared secret between them, appeared content to remain perched atop her head. With every step, the woman's demeanor shifted from initial displeasure to a whimsical tolerance, her heart open to the unpredictability of the forest and the surprising companionship it could offer. And so, amidst the rustling leaves and the tranquil forest melodies, Nox and her rabbit-headed companion continued their journey. An unspoken connection, a unique moment woven into the tapestry of nature, reminding her that even in the unexpected and slightly inconvenient moments, there could be a touch of magic and wonder waiting to be discovered.

To those watching, it was clear. Though a ruthless killing machine, Nox was still but a young woman and as susceptible to 'cuteness' as much as the next.

Though when Shael suddenly informed the group that something was approaching, Nox's expression returned to that of a serious scowl. Glaring out into the darkness that surrounded them Nox would move a hand to her sword hilt. Her piercing gaze scanning the area in an attempt to locate and scare off whatever it was Shael had heard. Bisque Gossip Amongst Perennials

The [Piercing Glare] which Nox shot blindly into the trees, in the moment, did not seem to yield any results. Which was evident by how quiet it had suddenly gotten. The silent ambience of the surrounding forest had enhanced the sudden tension... The trees rustled, quickly. Lunging out onto Nox--? Ah, no sorry. Jumping out from thicketetry and brush, as dried leaves fell from side to side, another small white rabbit hopped out with quick movements. Darting from side to side, around Nox, then Connor, and then Shael, trying to avoid touching their legs as it hopped away with great speed. Then, the rabbit was gone.

Although it was like a second had passed, the group could have noted how, similarly to the one resting on Nox's head, that one did too shimmer in the moon's pale glow. Its shimmering form created brief ribbons of sparking light when it anxiously swatted itself 'round and side, between each of the party's members. It seemed to find itself running up ahead.

Round3-2.png

The rabbit's brief entrance and just as momentous exit had stirred up the pale-petal'd flowers quite a bit. Shael could hear them laugh with all the obnoxious hideousness which plagued the world. {"OHOHOHOHOH!"} {"UFUFUFU~"} {"HOIHOIHOYLEHOIHOI!"} {"My oh me oh my! Ufufu~ What a creature, Madame's foul pets soothefully should learn some etiquette! Hohoihoyle."} Snorted one of them, their petals capriciously fluttering in the warm wind. They grew silent, remembering that Shael could hear them.

Then, one of them gasped like a shattering vase. {"My oh me oh my! How utterly terrifically terrible THOU art!"} {The nerve of some foolishly foolish fools who spit with foul wenkhish tongue at dames with much reckoning as us. Utterly revolting! Augh!"} {"Thy mere presence wounds me, you fat weed. I request, unhumbly and with no respect, that you begone."} {"Yes, cease! Hath thee no manners?! Thee who dare to address fine dames like us?!"} They all laughed, with voices louder than shrieking glass.

{"If thee wishes to speak, 'tis best thee rid thyself of those utterly goustidly goustis irises which plague thy face like nipples."} Again, the yellow flowers all laughed... It was then that they'd stop. The forest became ambient, until a clinking together like glass chimes, a soft voice's hum unsilenced by the quiet of the gently fluttering wind winding through each tree's one thousand leaves...

Windchime Ayr ♫

Although, It was not particularly the sound of wind chimes. Connor would be able to discern as much with his mild knowledge in [Performance], here and there, there were silent breaths taken between the hums. From time to time, the voice couldn't reach a certain note, as if trying to vocalise outside of their range. Although, whether or not it was truly a person's voice mimicking the sounds of an instrument would be quite difficult to say without finding the source of said noise...

Once the group decided to continue moving on, they would be quite taken and bombarded by a floral scent. On the floor, unlike the foul-mouthed aureate daisies which scattered the floor near them, were flowers with white petals. The scent of ash trees and daisies was completely overpowered by thescent of the pale flowers. Accompanied by the sound, the distinctly floral scent pulled each member of the party closer somehow.

There the white flowers led, framing a path deeper into the woods. Ashen leaves darkened the path, leading into what seemed like perpetual darkness. It was strange. Although it sounded almost nothing at all like [Sylvan], Shael could quite scarcely pick out a few words from the noise. {"Know--You... Dream... Gleam--Eyes..."}. Nox wouldn't feel compelled by her natural agitation toward [Monsters].

The rabbit which had scurried about had stopped right in front of the entrance of where the noise emanated from, staring blankly with its violet eyes.

Round3-1.png

~'Nox'~

1692419297683.png
Nox's reaction to the sudden emergence of the white rabbit was a mixture of surprise, confusion, and a trace of amusement. The abrupt stillness that followed their [Piercing Glare] cast an eerie silence upon the forest, heightening the tension in the air. However, the tense atmosphere was broken as the trees rustled, and the unexpected visitor darted out from the underbrush.

As the rabbit hopped around Nox, Connor, and Shael, Nox's eyes widened in astonishment. The creature's rapid movements and agility seemed almost supernatural, its presence contrasting starkly with the silence that had engulfed the area just moments before. A flicker of realization crossed Nox's expression — this wasn't an ordinary rabbit. Its behavior was far too erratic for that. But then again nothing in this new world she faced could really be classed as 'ordinary'. At least not in her eyes.

As the rabbit danced around them, Nox's lips curved into a bemused smile. The absurdity of the situation, combined with the rabbit's lightning-quick antics, brought forth a chuckle from Nox. The tension that had gripped the trio moments ago was replaced with a lighthearted sense of wonder, as she watched the rabbit dart about with an almost mischievous energy.
When the rabbit finally bounded away and disappeared into the forest, Nox let out a soft laugh, her eyes following the creature's path for a moment before turning back to her companions.
"No ordinary rabbit, that one," Nox remarked with a playful glint in her eyes, breaking the quietness with a light-hearted comment.

Nox's steps falter as the group decides to continue onward, her senses suddenly overwhelmed by a potent and captivating floral scent. The air around her thick with the sweet perfume, drowning out the lingering traces of ash trees and daisies. Nox's sharp instincts were on high alert, her head tilting slightly as she tried to pinpoint the source of this new olfactory assault.

Eyes narrowing slightly, she surveyed the floor ahead, her gaze drawn to the delicate white petals that blanketed the ground. Unlike the foul-mouthed aureate daisies that scattered earlier, these flowers exude an ethereal beauty, a stark contrast to the earlier chaos. A sense of wonderment intertwines with caution as Nox's fingers twitch, her senses tingling with curiosity.

The sound of the forest's rustling leaves and distant chimes was now accompanied by the intoxicating fragrance, luring Nox forward with a pull that felt almost inexplicable. A moment of hesitance was soon followed by a determined step, then another, as Nox unconsciously gravitated toward the source of the scent, her senses ensnared by the floral symphony.

The floral carpet seemed to whisper secrets, the pale flowers radiating an allure that was difficult to resist.

As Nox takes another step closer, her heart races in anticipation, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Everything about this situation screamed danger, yet, she could not resist the temptation those flowers had cast.

It hadn't taken Shael long to realize Connor had been confused as to why it looked like she was speaking to flowers, because she was speaking to flowers, and it also took her not very long to remember that Nox nor Connor could understand what the flowers were saying and it probably sounded like something else entirely. But she didn't really have time to explain. There was the possible threat in the distance which she had drawn her bow for..but thankfully for the group it became apparent it was no monster from the forest, but instead another rabbit which was very similar to the one which had placed itself on Nox's head, as the rabbit shimmered in the moonlight and ran on. This let Shael let out a soft sigh of relief in that moment, that their lives did not appear to be immediately threatened as she relaxed her bow now.

"Thank goodness.." She replied softly to Nox's comment, rather than finding the situation light hearted she just appeared to be glad that they didn't have to attack anything yet.

"I wonder if they're here to guide us.." She further commented softly.

Unfortunately then it was back to the flowers being less than willing to help, they just wanted to throw more insults around. It was pretty clear they all had large egos, which sure wasn't exactly uncommon back in the Fae See of certain people but it was also very clear they wanted nothing to do with them unless they were pretty flowers too apparently. All Shael could really extrapolate from the situation was that they were probably heading the right direction because of the fact that there were all these signs of activity which normally took place during the day now taking place at night, between the flowers being awake, and animals who were usually more active during the day being active at night.

She then turned to Connor after the ambient sounds of the forest had filled the area, allowing Shael to relax a bit in that moment, feeling better in that moment, "Right..you see It's a bit of a Fae thing, and I know it might sound really odd but you'll just have to trust me on this: I could hear voices speaking in Sylvan coming from the plant life and wanted to know if they could help us find what we're looking for but..they weren't very interested or cooperative unfortunately." she spoke truthfully to clear that bit up with him.

As they moved onward, Shael kept her bow. catalyst down, in a resting state, deciding not to put it back fully yet, the energy giving off a very slight glow in the moonlight from it. She could smell the engaging floral scents. She looked toward the darkness with her discerning eyes, and stopped when she saw the rabbit sitting there.

"I think..it's suggesting we head toward the sounds, I just have a feeling which is hard to explain that these rabbits are our allies.. I know we're assuming some risk here but .I can sort of make out some more words... I say we follow the way of the sound. It may lead us to the temple. We just need to be extra cautious and if things seem off we should be ready for a tactical retreat." She finally spoke.

But then she turned to Nox, "Nox..are you alright?"

Noticing she seemed sort of off with how transfixed she appeared. If it became clear that she was okay and Connor didn't have any major objections she said they should move on into the darkness, after all Darkness was something that Shael was used too, it was comforting like her home...in a way, something she thrived in..she could be their guide if need be, but it was apparent this was the way forward them.

A rustle of leaves gave the signal that the unknown was moving in. Connor twitched, almost moving into action, then froze as another small rabbit appeared before them. Its bright white fur rapidly moved through the group, almost as if it was itself glowing alongside the moonlight. Or rather, it might indeed be actually glowing, Connor wondered. It seemed to be just like the little one accompanying them on top of Nox right now. It was becoming even clearer that these might not be just some rabbits that you might see in the wild.

“Haha, surely.”

Connor himself also let out a chuckle, both at seeing Nox already warmed up to the animal on top of her head, and to calm back down after being all tensed up for what was essentially another ball of fluff. He straightened himself back up, though he still decided to bring out his violin and katana, just in case. Shael eventually spoke up, a response to his confusion earlier, it seems like.

“Wow, I see. A shame that they aren’t going to help, but talking to plants? That’s fascinating.”

Connor nodded along with her explanation as the group kept moving forward. He was soon met with an almost overwhelming scent of flowers. Perhaps the recent string of unusual and fantastic events you wouldn’t quite see sheltered within the wall of a city was influencing him, but it was almost as if this was beckoning to them, guiding them towards… something. Nox might be getting affected as well, Shael seemingly finding something off about her behavior.

“I might be able to help if something’s wrong. Uh, if you need it, of course. And…”

Connor has been noticing it for a bit now, but there was just something not quite clicking with him as he kept on listening to their surroundings.

“Do you hear that? A… a voice…? I- No, I mean… It feels weird, something seems off.”

Frowning, he kept trying to think of a way to explain, but can’t quite reach a definitive conclusion. Connor shook his head and gripped his hands, confirming to himself that he was still ready for whatever comes next. Right now, it seems Shael is the one most attuned to their current situation. Seeing that there wasn’t much of a reason to object, Connor expressed his agreement.

“...If you think they are acting as a guide, then let’s keep going. It at least seems better than wandering around aimlessly.”

Windchime Ayr ♫

The narrow clearing of a path that was framed by unnamed white flowers was even darker as the group progressed through it. It seemed to get tighter. Darker. The chiming song sounded near yet further than before, even Shael struggled quite a bit to gain clear sight of their surroundings.

Branches of trees tugged on the fabric of Shael's hood, and others pulled onto Nox's dark hair, but eventually loosened as they pressed on and through the path, the darkness soon engulfed them to a point where they wouldn't even be able to recognize right from left. In time, it wouldn't even feel like they were walking, and instead moving their legs up and down on an empty surface, as if nothing was holding them up but the thin air. The shimmer of the small white rabbits seemed to have been lost, as they no longer glittered in the scarce light...

Then, you would open your eyes. The song was right in front of you, and a lake stretched on seemingly infinitely into an empty horizon. The full moon shined right above the lake like a limelight, and the stars surrounded the moon in a mandala-esque pattern, blooming out like a flower. Rabbits were hopping on the verdant grass, seemingly aflutter, as if unaffected by gravity.

In a place unlike the world ♫

There, melting into the lake, was what seemed to look like a woman, of course, that was only judging by her face. Pupiless, yellow eyes seemed to gaze at something which was beyond the group, although they also seemed fixated on them, Pink lips were curled into a smile, as the person rested her head onto her hands which held it up. Her mouth seemed... a little too wide in its smile. Her translucent body, along with her hair, seemed to melt into the lake as if she were part of it.

If not for the colour of her hair, one may mistake her for a certain someone who placed a bad memory in the group's minds. Her laugh clattered like a bell. {"My oh my,"} She cleared her throat, ~"You can understand this, right?"~ She'd say what seemed like a whistle to most, {"Or perhaps this?"} She'd then cough momentarily,

"Or are you all so primitive, that you only speak this jumbled mess?" She'd finally say, with an exaggerated sigh. {"Me oh my, how long has been since I last had some folks to speak with?"} She'd speak to herself, assuming no one would understand.

She'd look at the group with her ungazing eyes. "So~ It seems to me that you are those wonderful heroes who stepped up to help that anthosid keep thons little hamlet safe, is that right? And~ Now you are searching for something by those sunburnt folks' temple, is that right?" They'd sigh, "Honestly~ Those folks should all bathe in the sun far less, they look like those... What do you call those dried plums again?... Ah~ I am off shore, am I not?" She'd stretch, the water falling over her body like strands of hair, before she would then frame her head onto her palms.

The area around them was perfumed with that alluring scent of flowers. Although, peculiarly, the group didn't feel cold or warm. Although it felt like there was no air, it still felt populated by particles of something, and it was thick. "Now listen here you all, this is your first time 'ere, is it not? Well, allow me to name myself. I am the waters of the present, I am informed of these parts' movements and activities. To summarize, I know everything that happens here. From the gossip of those flowers, or the luneporidae's burrows, or maybe what may be happening in that overdressed temple's highest tower... I know it all and in great detail--" She'd tilt her head,

"And~ Since I am SO vivaciously generous, I shall answer but a question from each one of you. Be wise with your asks, and do with haste, this place gets quite stuffy with more people here. You can thank me later, after all, depending on what you ask... I may give you some invaluable information." She laughed, as she fixed her eyes on the group.

At the very least Connor seemed to understand which was nice, she would have understood if he voiced he thought it was strange too, so frankly the reaction was refreshing for a non Fae no less.

It also looked like he had a similar thought she had, taking the possible leads even if there was risk was probably a good idea.

They were adventurers after all, the job inherently came with risk, and this was definitely better than just wandering off somewhere.

She gave him a nod in confirmation when he asked if they were hearing it too.
---
Well that was something new for Shael. Her vision wasn't letting her see clearly, her conclusion was that there was likely some sort of magic or supernatural force at play here in order to make it this dark. Again this wasn't exactly a bad thing until it was proven to be so, even if it was a bit disconcerting. She felt the branches pull at her hood, which thankfully shouldn't be prone to getting caught in this sort of environment due to the material she used. However this thought of the experience not necessarily being bad was challenged when it felt like she was walking in some sort of dark void.

She couldn't even really tell what was going on for a moment, not how much time was passing, not what direction they were walking, and then she couldn't even see the rabbits in that moment. Suddenly Shael was back in the moonlight in front of what appeared to be a lake, this was most strange indeed. Since they didn't appear to be harmed, Shael could only assume they just took some sort of strange short cut shown to them by the gleaming rabbits.

She shifted from a guarded stance to a more relaxed one over time as the Waters of the present spoke to them. At the very least out the gate she appeared to be more kind than what the flowers or the lady at that very hamlet she spoke of whom they helped was. Even if there was some judgment there when they didn't speak immediately, Shael would have been lying if she also didn't believe that common did feel somewhat primitive in comparison to the beautiful language that Sylvan truly was in comparison. While aware of her bias it didn't make her think it was any less true from her experience, what wasn't as nice was to dismiss an entire group as primitive just because their language sounded that way to you..but still miles better than the open hostility they had got prior.

Shael of course decided that she would respond in Sylvan.

"{Waters of the Present, I am very grateful that in your generosity you have decided to aid us in our journey by using your great wisdom and knowledge.. for you are correct this is unfamiliar land for us. Out of respect of your wishes I will keep my question brief..and hopefully I shall be in a position where I'll be able to thank you properly later.}"

Shael paused briefly, before she spoke,

"{As you know what we have done, then I am certain you know why we are here..so my question is, for a group of adventurers like us, trying to retrieve a relic from the temple of the sun we seek, what dangers if any, should we be prepared to face in the temple during this relic retrieval quest?}"

She inquired, figuring getting intel would a good thing such as a heads up on traps or monsters, now just hoping that everyone else would make good use of their question, as this seemed like a golden opportunity.

Following Shael’s lead, they went down the path laid before them. It was definitely narrowing, gradually becoming a tad bit claustrophobic with how the trees themselves looks as if they are reaching down for them. One might think it was a sign to stop, turn back, and find a better way. For Connor right now, they were only pushing him forward. The mysterious song, the darkness further adding to the mystery, it all blended together into an atmosphere that just compelled him to continue.

Said mystery would eventually direct them to a lake, with… someone… looking as if they were waiting for them to arrive. She spoke in a languange once again Connor was not able to understand, and Shael took the opportunity to reply in kind. The conversation continued as he took the time to look around, briefly glancing at Nox wondering how she was handling it. Was she able to understand, and he is just the odd one out? Fortunately, the lady of the lake appears to also speak the Common language, introducing herself as the “waters of the present”.

Being out of the loop for parts of the conversation left him unsure exactly how to proceed with the interaction, but he did not miss the fact that this was a great opportunity to potentially learn more vital information. He still did not know what to make of the footsteps from earlier, and considering that they are effectively trying to do a mission blind, it made sense to him to confirm if there would be other parties involved. After a brief moment where Connor assumed that Shael was done speaking, he spoke up.

“Thank you for your kindness, oh… waters of the present. For my question… are there other people in the vicinity, perhaps also fulfilling some sort of objective in the temple of the sun?”

~'Nox'~

As Nox ventured onward through the narrowing and shadowed path, a growing sense of unease nestled within her. The previously open clearing had transformed into an all-encompassing darkness that seemed to challenge her perception of space and direction. The haunting chiming song resonated, tantalizingly close and yet distant, weaving an ethereal web around her senses.

The strands of her dark hair were tugged by the branches that reached out like ghostly fingers, a reminder of the shifting nature of this strange realm. The sensations were eerie and disorienting, akin to memories stirring from the depths of her mind. The path seemed to blur the boundaries between reality and some dreamlike realm, an unsettling familiarity coursing through her veins.

With each step, reality seemed to lose its grasp, as if she were suspended between two dimensions. The glimmering rabbits that had once danced with enchantment now eluded her, swallowed by the ever-encroaching darkness.

And then, like a sudden awakening from a trance, Nox's eyes blinked open to a scene that defied the ordinary. A lake stretched before her, its surface mirroring the moon's radiant glow. Stars adorned the heavens like diamonds on velvet, forming a cosmic tapestry that transcended time and space. Rabbits hopped and frolicked in an ethereal ballet, their movements weightless and mesmerizing against the tranquil waters.

However, it was the figure by the lake's edge that held her gaze captive, a presence both alluring and unnerving. The woman's visage held an otherworldly beauty, her connection to the lake and the surroundings undeniable. Pupiless eyes of eerie yellow fixed upon something unseen yet present, and a smile graced her lips—an almost-too-wide smile that blurred the boundary between fascination and disquiet.

Nox was a canvas of conflicting emotions—curiosity mingled with caution, an inexplicable attraction intertwined with a subtle recoil. The familiarity of the woman's presence resonated somewhere deep within her, like a long-forgotten melody teasing the fringes of memory. With each step that drew her nearer to the lake's edge, Nox felt as if threads of destiny were being woven around her, threads that connected her to this enigmatic figure and the secrets she held.

As her feet carried her closer, Nox was acutely aware that this encounter was no mere accident. The woman's existence defied the boundaries of the ordinary world, inviting Nox to explore the mysteries that lay beneath the surface, both of the lake and of her own understanding.

With both Shael and Conner having posed their questions, though hesitant at first, offered forward her own.

"You seem familiar to me. As do these rabbits and indeed even this space. Tell me this, waters of the present - Do you know why that is?"

In a place unlike the world ♫

First to ask a question, was the one named Shael. Thon who called thonself 'The waters of the present,' could not help but let soft laughter escape her. "{to speak this, yet not the former... Quite young you are, are you not~?}" Thon would say with a smile stretched wide on her face. Yet, the ends of thons lips did not crease; thons cheeks did not raise. Her eyes stayed wide and glistening as she stared before her.

Round4.png

"{A maiden white and pallid, who is quick and unhesitant—for she is quick to presume. Touch not the powdered tears of the moon 'less you want to be like dornröschen. The wind is always fluttering, and a child of the wind is shunning her beckoning. It listens when his left ear twitches, a feline beast. A handsome thief, prone to flirt with hair like cedar leaves.}" Replied the waters, voice echoing as the lake rippled in sound.

Connor's question came next, and the waters did not turn thons heads to make eye contact. That which melted into the lake closed thons eyes and tilted its sublty. "I am here, beneath lay the dreamers who dream of their own reality. Beyond here, someone like each of you in terms of prowess. One who strikes afar, one who strikes in front and one who sings red wounds gone. Above your altitude, one who's been fated the name of the moon's most favoured. The wind, thons children's bodies are coalesced within—Henceforth, what remains of their corpses constantly enter you and brush onto your skin." The waters of the present laughed as if telling a joke that only thon found funny.

Away, thon wiped a speck of water, like a tear; Thon would then gaze at Nox as she'd asked her own question. Suddenly, the waters would begin to laugh all the more, rippling with boisterous violence. "To think that those touched by the moon's pale glow... Hahaha~ All here, in this place? Ironic." Thon'd smile, her mouth opening to reveal not teeth or tongue, but instead, water. The lake rippled, "It is because we are not strangers. We walked together... Once upon a dream~ Did you not understand my song? Hahaha~ Ah, but you will never remember." The limnad rested thons head onto thons hands. "These rabbits were touched by the moon. Once they were a person like you, but so favoured by the matrone of the moon that he'd wept tears and tears upon their deaths. He'd touch their souls before they went to the spirit sovereign's cradle, making them the luneporidae you see now. Forever young they will stay, only present when the stars can be seen, they shall enjoy the wind and rustling trees eternally..."

The body that relaxed before the group then let go of the ledge, sinking and disappearing into the water. The imitation of a full moon reflected on the lake's surface. It rippled, "The moon and the water are much the same. He, or she if you'd prefer, sheds tears whenever that which is aglow by the moonlight fades away, and what more is the waters than the tears of all who wept in this realm? The waters ebb and flow by the moon's whims—"

The plane around them warped. Shifting, as the floor beneath them went black. The light disappeared, and in the blink of an eye; They were surrounded and engulfed in water. The group could see clearly, and they could breathe clearly as well, they slowly sank as the starry mandala reflected beneath the waters all around them. The limnad's voice echoed just the same: "Just like the moon has touched us all, you three... Hahaha~ You three share something very peculiar amongst yourselves. Beyond something even I cannot even imagine, yes... Truly~! Although, the past and the future are not my domain... Ahahaha~

Visit me often~"

And just like that, after all their questions had been answered... The group would open their eyes to find themselves dry and standing in front of the place they had entered. Although now, the fragrance of the flowers was not so heavy and the water's voice did not chime out in song. In that which used to be an entrance, was but more forest instead of what seemed like an eternal void.

.

.

.

?

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

A shrill and clear scream cursed the groups' ears. It was from up ahead. So loud it was that the rabbit on Nox's head awoke, jumping off and quickly scurrying away in the opposite direction. If one were to look into the sky, they'd notice many birds flying swiftly out from the trees.

She frankly had no idea what language Thon was seemingly entertained by the fact that Shael didn't know. Of course she was correct, Shael was still a young adult by fae standards, and to some probably quite young indeed. It made her curious, she wanted to ask what language had been spoken, but knew better than to ask another question after she had followed Thon's instructions.

She did give a nod of confirmation however when Thon mentioned her being young regardless.

It seemed like many of the mysterious types that Shael had encountered, this one was not inclined to lay the answer down straight, using much more elegant language and references than what was necessary to convey the essential information she asked for. Despite this, Shael was not deterred from continuing on this journey. There was still information she could sift from this interaction. It sounded like based on what Thon was saying, perhaps there was some form of powder trap in the temple or something of the like. The mention of the thief and beast too...that could be taken literally despite it's context or not..which was hard to discern, as far as Shael was concerned, definitely needed to watch out for possibly magic powder, and thieves going in to steal the same relic they were after or some sort of feline beast which was set to protect it, of course all of the above could be true but at the very least she felt she had some idea of what potential threats were at the temple, which was much better than not knowing anything at all.

After listening to what she had to say for the other questions, finally they had some context about the rabbits, so it sounded like they were in fact good things from the moon, even if the origin story sounded somewhat sad, Shael was glad that they were there rather than not, based on what she was understanding. To hear that they were all moon touched in some capacity was of interest as well.

After she answered the questions and the world began to shift once more, Shael tried to let out a swift "{Thank you for your knowledge, The waters of the present, I do hope we meet again!}" She'd call out while trying to maintain some form of respectfulness.

Once they landed back in 'reality' since that sort of almost felt like they had entered some sort of pocket dimension, feeling like she needed to catch her balance for a moment from the shift. Great, now was the time for her to consolidate the information with her party since she had spoken in Sylvan and doubted they had any idea what the exchange between her and Thon had been. But just as she was about to get speaking on it, it wasn't long before there was what sounded like a literal scream, the rabbit fleeing and the sound of birds flying away, prompting Shael to near immediately to take out her bow again.

She simply said,

"If someone's in trouble, and we can, we should help, that's the life of an adventurer."

Making her stance known trying her best to keep a level head looking around discerningly, getting ready to head toward the scream swiftly but with caution, if the rest of her party was, knowing full well running ahead into an unknown danger without thinking things through would be an arguably heroic but foolish move in a place like this.

~'Nox'~

1693106468496.jpeg
As the waters of the present spoke and shared their enigmatic revelations, Nox listened with a mixture of fascination and a growing sense of comprehension. The cryptic words and poetic descriptions woven into the narrative painted a surreal picture of the world around her. The strange familiarity she felt with the scene and the woman by the lake's edge seemed to deepen as the waters continued to speak.

When Nox's question was addressed, and the waters responded with laughter and cryptic answers, she couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine. The revelation that they had walked together once upon a dream hinted at a connection beyond the bounds of ordinary understanding. The explanation about the moon-touched rabbits and their transformation added another layer of mystique to the scene, and Nox found herself both captivated and unnerved by the story.

As the waters suddenly shifted the environment, enveloping them in water and starlight, Nox felt a sensation of weightlessness and wonder. The waters' parting words lingered in her mind, resonating with the sense that destiny's threads were indeed being woven around them.

And just as abruptly as it had begun, the scene shifted again. Nox found herself back in the familiar forest, and the ambiance drastically changed. The intense fragrance was gone, the water's voice was silenced. Confused and disoriented, she tried to take in the sudden shift in surroundings.

Nox's brows furrowed slightly, a touch of disappointment tugging at her features. The absence of the rabbit that had once perched on her head left a subtle void in her surroundings. She couldn't help but pout, her lips forming a gentle curve downward. It was a small thing, but the unexpected companionship of the rabbit had brought a fleeting warmth to the strange journey. With a sigh, she refocused her attention on the group, determination replacing her momentary pout. There were more pressing matters at hand, and the rabbit's departure was just a fleeting note in the symphony of the surreal.

Indeed far morte pressing her attention was quickly diverted by the piercing scream that shattered the air. The urgency in Shael's voice resonated with Nox's instincts, and she nodded in agreement. Her hand instinctively went to her side, where her weapon was kept. She took a deep breath, her senses sharpened by a surge of adrenaline.

"Let's move quickly," Nox said, her voice steady despite the underlying tension. "But be cautious, given how brave that little rabbit was up until now. I fear whatever it is that lays ahead may be extremely dangerous." With those words, Nox readied herself, her eyes scanning the path ahead as she stepped forward, following the source of the scream. Deep down she was still very disappointed that her new cute rabbit friend had fled without so much as a goodbye, but someone was in danger and that took priority.

Puffing up her cheeks as she moved, Nox thought to herself it would have been nice had the creature become a fourth member of the team.

Having said what he had to say, Connor awaits in anticipation for the answer. Just as promised, an answer was given one by one in response to each of the questions that the three of them has asked. The replies were certainly not the most straightforward, as he had already been expecting somewhat. Nevertheless, he listened closely, even to those in response to Shael and Nox. At least, he figured he should absorb as much as possible in case it might be needed later. Upon finishing, his immediate surroundings appeared to transform. Connor was taken aback, and all of his attention was taken away from the information gifted to them and towards himself and the others.

The voice bid farewell, and in an instant they were once again in the forest they were walking in just a while ago. Blinking his eyes, Connor looked over towards his two other companions, both also seeming to readjust themselves. The lake that they were in just moments ago was nowhere to be seen, as if it was just a dream. Maybe it was, one that they collectively were in. Maybe not. In the situation they were in however, any form of information, no matter if it may be up for interpretation, is beneficial. Connor’s mind was already racing, processing and trying to deduce what this could mean for them moving forward.

Before he can get into a discussion with the others, a scream rang out from further ahead. Their furry little companion hopped away, though even if he wanted to, he can’t go after it considering they very well might be going into danger themselves in just a bit.

“Agreed. Let’s go.”

Connor nodded and prepared himself, letting the two more experienced members of the party take charge.

The party would be able to find the subject of the scream with swiftness, as they weren't very far; which was likely the cause for the scream's incredible volume. On the other hand, it was certainly a waste for them to ready their weapons and press on with such haste. They would find before themselves a personage who was backed into the stem of an ash tree; shaking, trembling and teary-eyed…

Again, familiar was the person's inherent physical traits. Eyes like ambers, without any pupils. Ears longer than that of an elf, with iridescent shimmering skin and completely white hair. The difference between the previous two presumed nymphs(?) was but only the colour and length of this person's hair. of which was short and white; And their choirly attire. What seemed to frighten them so much was not any sort of horrifying beast, but instead...

Another Luneporide, which is alternatively known as a moon rabbit. With its violet eyes like blank pearls, it stared at the priestly person with much... intensity. It was hard to tell, but it seemed like the rabbit was quite clearly doing this on purpose; It was evident that this was not one of the two rabbits that the party had seen prior.

He who was backed into a corner, turned to look at the party. Thon shook, as they grasped onto a sceptre as if trying to fend off a swan by holding it by its neck. "Hey! You folk! I do not care who you all are just get that botch of nature away from me!" They'd shout, but the rabbit stayed still. The creature very subtly tilted its head, to which the fae quickly noticed, "AHHH! The thing moves...?!" They only shrunk into the bark. "Where are those fools when I need them!? Hey, do something! Will you not?!" They cried out as thon would... Actually seem to begin crying...

The flowers all around laughed, they were pretty audible. Like a clique of gossiping girls, they'd likely be pointing as they empty their lungs with laughter. {"Look at him! Asking lowly, upperwalkers of all things, for help!"} {"Hohohohoh! Asking THEM?! For help[/]i?!"} {"When the spirit king sneezes! Ohohoho!"} Their voices were like that of a metal clinking constantly against a glass. The priestly one flinched as they continued to cackle.

~'Nox'~

Nox's expression shifted from determination to clear annoyance as they hurriedly reached the source of the scream, only to find a scene that defied her expectations. The sight of the priestly person backed against the ash tree, trembling and teary-eyed, was met with a deep sigh that bordered on exasperation. Her grip on her weapon relaxed as her pout deepened, her annoyance directed both at the situation and the priestly individual's dramatic reaction.

Her eyes narrowed as she observed the scene before her. The moon rabbit that seemed to be the cause of the commotion held a certain intensity in its gaze, its violet eyes seemingly fixed on the terrified person. The absurdity of the situation was not lost on Nox—facing a frightened fae and a moon rabbit, all in the midst of this mysterious realm.
As the priestly figure pleaded for assistance and then started crying, Nox's frustration was palpable, her thoughts focused on the task at hand and the mission they were meant to accomplish.

"Seriously?" Nox muttered under her breath, her tone laced with irritation. She stepped forward, her annoyance not so much directed at the fae's distress but at the distraction it posed. "We're here on a mission, and so far it's been one distraction after the other?" She shot a pointed look at the fae, her expression conveying a mix of impatience and determination.

"We don't have time for this," she continued, her voice firm. "If you want to get out of this situation, stop panicking and listen. We're not here to play mediator for your rabbit encounter. Now, if you can calm down and help us with the information we need, we might actually be able to resolve this and move on."

Nox's gaze shifted to the surroundings, her determination resurfacing as she surveyed the changed environment. The urge to get back on track and unravel the mysteries that lay ahead burned stronger than ever.

"Who are you, where did you come from? Where are you going? Are you familiar with the sun temple located within this forest and can you provide us with guidance to said location?"

It only took a few seconds before they would arrive at the source of the scream. It was someone, trembling in fear as they slowly backed up against a tree, being cornered by a terrifying… rabbit. Another rabbit, were there this much of them in this area? The image was so ridiculous that Connor couldn’t help but just sigh. The party continually just keep getting faked out by dangers that seem to not really exist. He knows it’s necessary, just ignoring the possibility and risk will eventually result in disaster, but still…

He noted that the rather interesting individual in front of them was holding some sort of staff. Another magic user perhaps, though it still doesn’t really explain why the sight of a small and cute fluffy animal would scare them so much that it actually looked like they were about to cry. Connor shrugged as he lazily pointed at the white moon rabbit.

“Is this the first time you’ve seen a rabbit or something? It really can’t hurt you, you know.”

It was probably a good idea to calm them down anyway. The fae in question was causing a lot of noise right now, and he wasn’t keen on the idea of attracting any more unwanted visitors by causing a commotion. Connor shook his head as he looked over towards Shael with an expression seemingly saying, “What do we do with this?”. Meanwhile, Nox got straight to the point, probing for any information that might be shared. He thought that might actually be a great idea. Hopefully the fae was willing to properly talk to them. He kept an eye on their surroundings as he waited for their answer, not really trying to approach any further, at least until the situation has calmed down enough. The late hour wasn't helping, however. It was worrying that it was entirely possible he could easily miss something, hiding somewhere within the shadows of the forest all around them.

"Actually, are you in a group? Where are they? I can't imagine travelling in a place like this all alone..."

Much like the others Shael had not been expecting the scene that was unfolding. Another fae was before her or at least thats what she assumed based on their appearance, but it looked like they were being terrorized by what looked similar to one of the helpful rabbits from before. For now Shael held steadfast with her bow at the ready regardless of what things looked like. She learned from a young age in the See that everything wasn't always what it seemed as there were illusions that were quite convincing indeed, so as an extra precaution this just made sense. She couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that this didn't appear to be another crisis situation they were running into much like their last quest had become, whatever was going on by the looks of things at least felt like it could be manageable.

Shael could see pretty quickly that Nox was having none of what was going on, which was understandable. At a glance the whole situation seemed pretty ridiculous that anyone could be that terrified of the animal, never mind one that had peacefully sat on Nox's head, and had guided them through the woods. Nox had a strategic notion to try to get information out of them regarding their primary question objective.

Then there was Connor who was actually being a deal bit friendlier than Nox, as Shael took note of his efforts to calm them down some. With the rabbit just looking at them ti didn't seem like they were in immediate danger at the very least, but she was very curious why they had called it a botch of nature...did they take issue with the moon? Or perhaps it was the method the waters of the present described in how they were created that they took issue with..if they knew of that information too..Shael had many questions in that moment. At Connors look she gave him a knowing nod in agreement, not saying a word for the time being while she observed the situation.

She did take notice of how this one was behaving differently than the others they had encountered had..why was it just sitting there staring with that..different gaze, in fact it was so different that Shael, if need be made her way over toward it until she was in range (Within 5 ft without modifier) to use Appraisal E on the strange rabbit, her face inquisitive.

"While I think it isn't too difficult to tell this one is behaving differently than the others..You call it a botch of nature..why is that?"

She asked while she reviewed any potential results of the appraisal. Hopefully this would signal to the others that she thought there might be more than meets the eye, without expressly saying it.

Dense Woods B ♫

The individual before the group would flinch at Nox's aggression. They'd seemingly breathe for a short moment, exhaling a deep breath. With trembling composure, the priestling stood up. Their eyes stayed locked onto the rabbit, but they seemed... A slight bit composed. Although, they kept their hands interlocked tightly around their gilded sceptre. The opalesce jewel glimmered, and the rabbit's head followed it.

"I... I— Uh..." They'd sigh, shoulders seemingly going stiff. "Children of the wind have no such. I bear no burden, I bear no name." They'd relay, eyes darting between the group and the rabbit. "I am of the Glade, located in the Draumur Silva of Chearon. It is... b- beyond where you can comprehend! B- But! I do uh... Never mind! did you say the Sun Temple?!" The priestling inquired, their face lit up and their eyes sparkled.

"If this is not the wind's wings! I-- Uhm... I too am on my way to that Temple, I- in fact! I am here to research the..." They'd look away momentarily, "What do you call that again..." The priestling brought a finger to their lips, "Ah!" They'd spark, looking to the group. "Scriptures! I- I am here... To research the scriptures!" They claimed.

Protect The Stars ♫

"There are none." A voice echoed like the low note of an oboe, it halted everything. The winds became anxious. The nameless one turned to look, it came from further up the path. Shael's [Appraisal] of the rabbit... Came up as expected. The rabbit was [Fae] creature, and bore the title [Moon Born]... However, that was all that the lune elf would be able to siphon. As she stared at it, it stared back. Violet eyes glittering like amethyst.

When the group would look further down the path, they'd see a girl. She seemed quite short with a young face to match. Although, bewilderingly, she bore long grey—Like an old woman's—hair which touched the grass. It was scarce, but strands of aureate blonde glittered in the moons' pale glow, amongst the pearlescent ribbons which hung from glassy clips clipped onto her hair. They were trembling in the wind as it began to stir, rustling the leaves.

She looked at each individual, her eyes staring straight into each. She was clearly human, evident by her small curved ears, her flushing cheeks and the black pupils in her azure eyes. Her hands were clutched onto her white dress, most notable were the glassy pendants hanging around her waist and neck. Her wrinkled into a smile... "Heh..." She'd snort, Her head lifted as she'd begin to laugh, pressing a hand onto her chest as the other hung loose. They were shaking.

It was a hideous laugh, the nameless individual seemed to cringe at the sight. The flowers were snickering, bickering about her ugly laugh and granny hair. "Thieves," She said. "why come you?! Those vain heretics had come already. They took it. Everywhere... Everywhere!" She shouted, her face contorted into a snarl. She lifted her arm into the air, "This time, I will be swift! I will punish you in the name of the lunar gods!" She yelled, the nameless one seemed to stumble and fall over. The rabbit scurried toward her and danced around her skirt as it fluttered upon the sudden gust.

It shined between her the curtained fringe hanging over her forehead, a silver crescent. Nox's eyes would lock on to the girl's arm raised to the air; there, by the maiden's elbow, was a large scar. However, before anyone could speak or do anything, the girl was already kneeling on the ground, holding to her left eye a crystal kaleidoscope, glassy like clear water as it refracted colour all around her. It had been conjured within her hands.

"Heed me, oh pearls of paradise; oh stones of sky—" She twisted the kaleidoscope, and a large circle of light enveloped the group. The moon gleamed on them like a limelight, as if it were full tonight. The winds were whirling. "Align thine eyes, alight those within thy gorgeous gaze and cleanse the beating hearts beneath your silver sheen!" Again, she twisted the kaleidoscope. White enveloped the group, blinding them in a cold warmth.

For a while, it would feel as though they were floating. That came to a stop once they'd felt a cold floor beneath their bodies. When they opened their eyes again, it was dark. However, they recognised where they were now. It was a place quite familiar to them. Yes, they were back where they had begun, where they first chose to do this mission. The Adventurer's Guild Hall – although, they would not have to return. Afterall, the girl had said "They took it"; whatever it was, they had a very strong feeling that it was what they were sent to find. The artefact.

Although the party had not completed the given mission, it seemed keen to report that they would not have been able to in the first place, and so, their job is done.
