South Forest University strives for excellence in everything that it does. Although they are a top school for academics their sports program is one of the worst in the country. The current dean, with his love of baseball, decided to higher a respected head coach to try to revamp the dying baseball program. The new baseball coach set out looking for players who could bring the school to the top. When the coach returned to the dean with the list of kids he found the dean was surprised. He questioned whether the players on the list were good enough. The coach assured him that these players were the players he was looking for.

Leon threw his pack over his shoulder, waved bye to his dad, and walked towards the administration building. The school from the outside had well trimmed lawns and bushes but the building itself looked overgrown. As he made his way to the main building he passed a group of cheerleader. He smiled at them and continued to the building. "Well I guess the cheerleaders start early too," Leon said as he entered.

The inside of the building was spacious and the floors were a black and white tile. Banners and posters streamed across the walls and workers ran back and forth to get ready for the next school year. "Hello how can I help you," a man asked from inside a side room near the entrance. "Yea I'm with the baseball team" Leon said scratching his head " I kinda forgot where the baseball dorms are." "No problem here is a school map, the dorms are right here," the man said as he pointed on the map " Good luck this year, go wolves." Leon smirked as he responded " Yea thanks and go wolves." As he followed the map out of the back door he found the baseball fields. "I have time to explore a bit," Leon said as he walked over to the fields.

Leon made his way to the the fields and he walked into the stands. He sat and watched as some guys cleaned and managed the field. The field had large stands and was hidden in an extensive forest. "Nice, I will be playing here," Leon said to himself " I like it." As he looked past the main field he noticed a grass field with a diamond painted on it. There were some guys throwing a ball around, Leon guessed they might be apart of the baseball team since they were here before the school season started like him. After taking in the sights he decided to get back on track and make his way to the dorms so he could meet the coach and get settled in.

Damon arrived at South Forrest University in the early morning. Classes hadn't started yet but the players for the university teams were here. Even though baseball wasn't until February this was still a time to work out and get ready for the season ahead. For Damon it was also a new start. He hadn't really used his arms since the surgery he had on them. He wasn't to sure if they could hold up. He tried not to think to far ahead though. He took life day by day now, and today he needed to find his room and get to know the campus.

Since he had no real plans for the day he took his time getting around the campus. The campus itself was located in Southern Oregon. It was beautiful this time of year and the woods that surrounded them showed that. The people here seemed much more laid back as well. It was really relaxing in a way.

Damon made it to the dorms some time later. He had walked around most of the campus still with his bags. Once he found his actual room he dropped his bags off and left. He wanted to see the baseball field while it was still empty. He would always go to his high school stadium when it was empty and sit in the stands for hours. He did his best thinking there, and he liked the silence at times.

Leon left the field and made his way back towards the dorms. He was taking in all the sites as he moved, making sure to memorize the area so he wouldn't need the map in the future. After a short walk he made it to the dorm room. Siting at the bottom of the stairs was was a slender white man dressed in a windbreaker, plain t shirt, and a baseball cap. " Room 34, third floor end of the hall, " the man said not looking up from his clip board " We will start practice tomorrow. I put a bat and a ball in your room, since I know you like to swing against walls. Also if you find a kid about your age wearing a cap with an M on it, he's your roommate, he's better than you so learn something." "Got it coach," Leon said as he walked up the stairs. As Leon passed the coach tossed a key to him.

After making his way up the stairs he made it to his room slid the key in the door and walked inside. There were some bags sitting next to the door, a bunk bed and a desk. Leon threw his bag on the top bunk and heard a his bag hit wood. Leon looked on the top of the bunk and saw a baseball bat and a ball. " Man he even knew I would chose the top bunk," Leon said as he grabbed the bat and ball " This coach is kinda scary."

Leon walked out of the room and went back to the field. Around the back of the field he had spotted a large wall that would fit his needs perfectly. He made his way to the wall stood in front of it with the ball in one hand and bat in the other. He was surprised at how heavy the bat was, it had to be around fifteen pounds. "Well let's just deal with it," Leon said as he tossed the ball into the air and smashed it into the wall to have it return back to where he was standing. He caught it before it soared over his head. "Man I have some serious work to do," Leon said as he tossed the ball and hit it again " Some serious work."

Hans arrived at the dorms late in the morning, still a bit groggy from a long night of driving. He stood in front of a middle aged man who appeared to be the coach and set down his bags for a moment. "Hans Sanzenbacher. Baseball." he said in his thick accent. The man nodded, still looking at his clipboard. "Thirty two. Third floor up, it's in the corner." he responded. Hans nodded and re-shouldered his bags, jogging up the steps and to his room. He slid the brass key the coach had given him with a sense of excitement. He had been given a second chance, one he wasn't going to throw away.

Once inside the room Hans tossed his luggage onto a single bed in the corner, noticing the the other was still unoccupied. He picked up the bat on his bed and took a few practice swings with it. It was much smaller than the Cricket bat he had grown accustomed to. He shrugged, pocketing a baseball and unpacking his glove. He double checked to make sure he had his room key before leaving and stepped back out into the hallway, jogging back down the stairs and towards the baseball field.

Hans looked up at the stadium as he walked onto the field, studying the stands. It wasn't as big of a stage as he played on at Dresden but it would do. He took a few practice swings with his bat, getting used to the implement.

While sitting up in the stand Damon had seen a few people come in and out. He didn't take much notice in this. Times like this he zoned out. Here he was sitting in a college stadium. It was a bittersweet moment for him. He had dreams of playing in the majors. He wanted it so bad but it wasn't to be true. At least not yet. His dream wasn't gone it was just postponed. He had to look at the bright side of things. It helped him get through the accident and the aftermath. He just needed to show people that his arms were still good.

He wasn't sure how long he had been sitting up there when he finally came back to earth. An older man came up to him. Damon recognized him as the head coach for the team. He had visited Damon while he was in the hospital still recovering from surgery. He was the only person to offer him a chance to play. No other MLB team or college team wanted him. So Damon took the only chance that let him play ball even for a little bit longer.

"Son if you sit there any longer people are going to mistake you for a statue."

"Sorry coach. Just thinking." Damon said looking up.

"Well quit sitting there with your teeth in your mouth and go meet some of the other guys who have shown up."

Hans took the ball from his pocket and tossed it into the air, bringing his hand back to his bat and swatting it a respectable distance, keeping his feet wide and twisting his torso as he swung. He grunted indifferently and retrieved it, bending down slowly and picking up the ball with his left hand. He avoided the rest of the men on the field, deciding to focus on his own practicing. He hit the ball again, and slowly walked to get it, spitting to the side.

(Sorry about the short post. Is my other character approved?)

(Yes your other character is fine)

Leon stopped his hitting when he heard the sound of another person hitting closely. He walked around to the front of the field to see a guy hitting a ball and then walking to go get it. Leon guessed he was apart of the team so he decided to go try and talk to the guy. Leon could not get over how intimidating the guy was as he walked. "No backing out now," Leon thought.

"Hey how's it going, my name is Leon" Leon said with a smile " You seem to be good at hitting, are you with the baseball team?

"Ja." Hans answered Leon, picking up his ball and holding it casually in his left hand. He looked over the dark skinned man, a rarity in Germany, with a studious eye. The man appeared to be slightly younger than him, and seemed friendly. Hans shrugged to himself and prepared to toss the ball into the air to hit it again, not sure what to say to Leon.

Maria slowly walked onto the field, stopping at home plate and pressing an investigative foot against it. She gave a slight smile, barely believing she would soon play on this very field. She tapped her Texas Rangers hat, a ever present companion, pulling it low over her eyes. She looked at what appeared to be her teammates, a rather unimposing group of individuals.
