The Fall Harvest Festival: The town hosts an annual fall festival, full of games, food, and cozy charm. It’s a time of bonding, but it also brings out people’s hidden hopes and fears. Each member of the Eden Circle has something they want to do at the festival but hesitate to follow through on, like performing in a talent show, confessing a crush, or showing off a hidden talent.

“Andy!” Cassie called, weaving through the crowd.

Andrew winced. “It’s ‘Andrew.’ You know I hate—”

“Whatever,” she said, shoving a spoonful of pumpkin spice ice cream in her mouth. “You’re still boring either way. What’re you doing over here? Brooding?”

“Thinking,” he corrected. “And not about work.”

Cassie raised an eyebrow. “Oh, so you’re lying and brooding. Multitasking.”

He ignored her. “You? Done signing autographs?”

Cassie twirled, showing off a pin she’d earned from a roller derby competition last month. “Not yet, but don’t worry—I’ll give you one for free. Now, come on. We’re going to the talent show.”

Andrew groaned. “I’d rather walk barefoot over broken glass.”

“Too late,” she said, grabbing his arm and dragging him through the throng of festivalgoers.
