From Eden
about
Eden’s Rest is a quaint, sleepy mountain town surrounded by misty hills and set beside a glassy lake that’s often shrouded in fog. The town’s main street is lined with vintage shops, a cozy lakeside diner, and old brick buildings that seem frozen in time. Residents know each other by name, and the town comes alive during its annual fairs and seasonal festivals, where the streets fill with music, laughter, and the smell of homemade pies.
Beneath its friendly surface, Eden’s Rest holds a quiet, almost mystical energy. It’s a place that seems to attract people with unfulfilled dreams or complex pasts, those who seek a fresh start or a sense of belonging. Some are locals who have never left, bound by a loyalty to their roots and loved ones, while others are newcomers who feel drawn to the town’s comforting familiarity and promise of simplicity.
In Eden’s Rest, a small group of childhood friends meets regularly for coffee at The Gathering Tree Cafe, a cozy spot with warm lighting, well-worn armchairs, and the smell of fresh pastries drifting through the air. Run by a former city-dweller who sought a quieter life, the cafe has become their sanctuary, where they gather every week to unwind and reconnect.
These friends, who grew up together in the small town, have all stayed for one reason or another. Some stayed out of loyalty to family, others out of practicality or a sense of duty. But while each has built a life in Eden’s Rest, they share an unspoken restlessness—a feeling that something is missing, that they’ve let certain dreams or desires slip away.
Their coffee chats begin with light-hearted stories and memories from their younger days, but inevitably the conversation drifts to topics that reveal hidden longings. One of them speaks wistfully about traveling the world, another about pursuing a creative passion, while another admits to secretly wanting to change careers. Each of them has a “forbidden” ambition or desire they’ve buried, believing it’s too late or impractical to chase now.
These gatherings at The Gathering Tree become a place of quiet support, where each friend finds the courage to voice a hope they thought they’d left behind. Over time, they encourage each other to explore these old ambitions, helping one another navigate the tension between the comforts of their small-town lives and the pull of the dreams they’re just beginning to rediscover.
THE OBJECTIVE:
The members of The Eden Circle don’t have to fully “conquer” their temptations, but they’re there to learn, grow, and come to terms with the things they’ve avoided facing. Over the course of the story, they find gentle encouragement from one another, discovering that sometimes what they’re most afraid of is also what could lead to their happiest, most fulfilling lives.
As they go about their daily routines and group gatherings, they share laughs, frustrations, and quiet moments of understanding, slowly building a bond with each other. This roleplay could bring out heartwarming interactions, personal revelations, maybe a little romance, and a gentle slice-of-life narrative that lets players explore their characters’ inner worlds and journeys toward contentment.
possible skips
Fall Harvest Festival
Pumpkins, cider, cozy.
The town hosts an annual fall festival, full of games, food, and cozy charm. It’s a time of bonding, but it also brings out people’s hidden hopes and fears. Each member of the Eden Circle has something they want to do at the festival but hesitate to follow through on, like performing in a talent show, confessing a crush, or showing off a hidden talent.
Secret Santa
Laughter, surprises, heartfelt.
During the holidays, the Circle participates in a Secret Santa, with each member giving a thoughtful gift meant to help the receiver face or indulge in their “forbidden” temptation. Through these gifts, each person starts to come to terms with their hidden desires.
Lake Trip
Sunshine, laughter, adventure.
A spontaneous trip to the lake gives everyone a chance to unwind and open up. The lakeside bonfire that night sees people sharing confessions, dreams, and secrets, leading to new bonds—and maybe a little friction.
