Realistic or Modern Fragmentation [OOC]

Oooo, I just though of some (possible) cool applications for Bianca's powers Birdsie Birdsie

If she were to mimic an Olympic runner... Who isn't a cape, and just has really good endurance and such... Would she be able to run as fast as them?
Also, would she be able to acquire possible muscle memory of people too, or is that beyond even her Thinker abilities?

Here's how it works.

First, you tag me in OOC and describe the name and intended function of the device, as well as the amount of Data you want to put into said device. You can add as much detail to the functions of the device as you want, and if you added enough Data of the right kind, the shard will try to replicate its functions as close to the given description as possible. For example:

Flak Cannon

A stationary turret capable of rotating around its own axis, always aimed at least ninety or more degrees upward from the ground. It can shoot shells that specialize in taking down aircraft. It is built from steel.

Data: 20 Bastion.

Afterwards, I reply, for example with something like this. Keep in mind that as a Chaos Tinker, there might be some variation in what you get, and unexpected additions or things you didn't put in there. The functionality and effectiveness of the device also depends on the type and amount of data you put into it.

Specialty Blueprint - Flak Cannon
Turrets, immobile, defenses, emplacements, point-defense, manned

This device is an anti-air turret emplacement from reinforced steel, taking up 6x6x4 meters of space, and possibly requiring more space for the barrel of the gun, which is four-hundred and twenty (420) centimeters long. It has a seat for the shooter on the left side, along with a small joystick-shaped steering implement and holographic crosshairs with three magnification modes of 2x, 4x and 8x respectively. Upon pressing or holding down the button on the steering implement, the device will shoot out exploding flak projectiles from the barrel at a fire-rate of one flak per second and with a capacity of two-hundred flak projectiles.

It has an effective range of six (6) kilometers.

The turret has a free rotation of 360° around its own axis, and can pitch upward freely.

The device is immune to Stage 1, 2, and 3 attacks, and has a general kinetic resistance to Stage 4 attacks, as well as a full ballistic immunity to Stage 4 attacks. It can be destroyed with artillery or Stage 5 attacks. Kinetic Stage 4 attacks take away 2 Durability from the device, and Stage 5 damage of any kind removes 10 Durability from the device.

Durability: 20/20
Repair Cost: $100 x point of Durability
Repair Time: 30 minutes per point of Durability

Blueprint Data Value: Bastion 20

Base Construction Cost: $5,600 (can be lowered to $850 by using low-grade steel and removing the data disk, but this lowers performance and durability.)
Base Construction Time: 20 hours, 15 minutes
Required Materials: Reinforced steel, gas chamber (can be made from steel,) plastic, wiring, flak projectiles (or) alternative materials.

The blueprint consumes 20 Bastion data from your Data Pool, and you add it to your list of created blueprints.

Then, when you want to build the device, you have to buy the materials listed for $5,600 and spend 20 Bastion data on the construction. Since you are a Chaos Tinker, you might see an addition or two like these to the device:

(Chaos Tinker) The turret has an inbuilt laser-tracking system that, when activated, will automatically track aircraft and shoot it down for the user.

(Chaos Tinker) The turret's ammunition chamber has a secondary chamber above it that drops down a blue Tinker-made dust-like substance, sprinkling it over flak projectiles before firing. The dust-like substance sticks to whatever it contacts and interferes with electromagnetic waves, possibly disrupting communication or functions of the enemy aircraft.

(Chaos Tinker) The turret has an inbuilt potential energy actuator. Instead of firing barrages of flak projectiles, the device can be "charged up" to fire projectiles that go as fast as Mach 2 at maximum charge.

Despite the Chaos Tinker additions, the required materials do not have an addition of "EMP materials" or anything like that. The shard does that completely on its own.
Okay before I present my great and glorious idea, I just have a few more questions.

Is data like a constant thing? If I want something that’s 20 data, does it take it out of the my data pool and such? If so, does my data regenerate back over a day or is it gone forever? (I actually still barely understand the data thing)

About buying materials, do I have to buy it for that price or are there other ways to acquire the specific materials? Cars, especially circa 2000s cars have steel frames and other metals that can be pretty valuable. Basically what I’m asking is; can I be a cheapskate?

Yes, actually. It would, in fact, improve her agility and stamina since it's necessary for the disguise. The same goes for impersonating, say, a martial artist - the Thinker power will provide such details for the host, since you can't impersonate a master martial artist perfectly without knowing martial arts.

Worm powers, as you may know, have a tendency to have some really creative uses when you know how to apply them, and it seems you've found such a use for this one.

For clarification, powers come from shards, and what shards are, no one really knows. In-Character, people only theorize about the causes of powers and remain unaware that it is due to power-granting entities from outer space, whose motives remain unknown. These entities are shards.

Shards generate data when certain conditions are fulfilled, which is named after them. A shard called "Kinetikinesis" will generate "Kinetikinesis" data. Said Kinetikinesis data mostly deals with, as the name suggests, kinetic energy and its control, and can be used for associated powers. It is raw knowledge and understanding of the universe, made quantifiable.

The conditions for generating data mostly come down to conflict with parahumans. If a host fights another host, the shards on both sides gain data, both their own and the enemy's. Shards can also trade data in exchange for other data, or for favors, like encouraging certain behaviors in their host. There are other methods of obtaining data, but they are much more rare.

Shards use data for a number of things, like improving the host's power over time, such as the powers' range, control, intensity, duration, etc, (which hosts may wrongly perceive as them becoming better with their power.) It can also be used for preparing for when the host Second Triggers (yes, you can Trigger twice,) so the shard can refine their power, or for creating new shards.

Now, the Host Data Pool is a thing unique to Tinker powers, and a small minuscule amount of Trump powers. Essentially, the shard will give its host some data to work with as the host desires. The host isn't consciously aware that it has something called "Bastion data," and rather, the host simply perceives this as ideas, inspiration, and energy for using the Tinker power.

Data doesn't regenerate, but you get more of it when the shard decides you do. If you fight a parahuman whose specialty is control of kinetic energy, your shard will get Kinetikinesis data, and it might give you some. This will manifest in-character as you getting ideas related to kinetic energy and becoming capable of crafting a device inspired by that parahuman's power.

This is just an example, of course.

About buying materials, do I have to buy it for that price or are there other ways to acquire the specific materials? Cars, especially circa 2000s cars have steel frames and other metals that can be pretty valuable. Basically what I’m asking is; can I be a cheapskate?
Yes. What I gave you is just a one, quick look. Tinker powers are capable of shenanigans, they don't need 100% materials, and the build time for Tinker devices is far faster than that of a normal human. Not any human can just put together an automated turret together in less than a day, even with blueprints for it, and you're doing it from "memory."

Except that memory is a super-power.

What I'm saying is that there's space for movement here.

Okay, thanks for answering my questions!

Here’s my draft:
Soft Powered Exosuit

A powered exosuit that’s designed as light-weight and to relieve stress on all limbs. The suit is is built frame-like with hydraulics on the legs and compressed air on the arms. The suit’s spine area is made to help support better posture, the neck area has the suit’s spinal supports extend onto the wearer’s neck with small grips that hold firmly but comfortably onto the wearer’s temples’ and arteries’. All of this centers in onto his back and chest with straps that wrap tightly around him, it even supports connecting up to a backpack for better stability.

The basic function of this exosuit is to provide a comfortable and refreshing experience, it relieves stress off of the wearer’s legs and arms and also allows for increased endurance and strength.

Data: 15
(Sorry if I took too much liberty with this, I’ve just had this cooking for a while so I’ve thought up a lot.)

If possible, I’d like to draft up another blueprint for something else but it’s fine if I cant do that at this moment.

With just 15 Data, it's very hard to make a functioning power-suit, though possible if the shard specializes in them. Your shard specializes in defense, with an emphasis on base development, defense development, and ambushes using traps instead of open offense.

This is more on the side of personal utility, with a defensive sub-focus. The only Data you have right now is Bastion, and Bastion isn't well-suited for anything besides defense.

This draft is eligible, of course, and will result in a blueprint, but don't expect miracles.

Soft Powered Exosuit
Data: 15
Blueprint - Soft Powered Exosuit
Armor, defense, material, powered

This device is an exoskeletal powered suit fitted for a human, with conjoining plates of shiny gray durasteel armor. Each joint contains a powered servo, assisting movement and conferring a 1.15x strength boost to all actions.

The suit weighs 80kg, slows down movement by 22.5% while worn, and has pressure-based movement, with a 0.42-second delay between limb movement and reaction from the suit; it feels clunky and slow, but the wearer themselves experiences no stress while wearing it and themselves doesn't feel heavy. It's quite comfortable to wear but can invoke feelings reminiscent of claustrophobia due to its lethargy.

The suit contains a spinal armor-line made of scaling plates layered on top of each other along the way to the neck with braces on top. The likelihood of spinal damage from trauma is decreased by 25% when worn, and it allows the user to survive Stage 5 injuries, though the odds aren't great.

The suit contains weight support for a backpack and allows the wearer to carry around up to 45kg of equipment without encumbrance.

The suit's durasteel plating confers full immunity to any kind of Stage 1 injury, a large resistance to Stage 2 injuries, a small resistance to Stage 3 injuries (turns them into Stage 1 injuries.) Damage from Stage 4 injuries is lowered, but not enough to be perceptible.

For each Stage 2 injury the suit helps defend against, it loses 1 Durability. For Stage 3, it loses 2 Durability, Stage 4 it loses 5 Durability, and it breaks upon receiving Stage 5 damage.

Durability: 35/35
Repair Cost: $100 x point of Durability
Repair Time: 1 hour x point of Durability

Blueprint Data Value: Bastion 15

Base Construction Cost: $8,500
Base Construction Time: 48 hours, 50 minutes
Required Materials: High-grade industrial steel, bolting, leather straps, minor electronics, minor hydraulics, pressure chamber (can be built from steel,) durable joint mechanisms (can be built from steel,) power generator of some sort.
The suit was originally meant to focus on comfort, relieving stress, and conferring additional endurance and strength. Unfortunately, Bastion data has little to no information on the idea of "comfort," but it does know a great deal about 'endurance' and 'strength.'

Since, however, the focus of the blueprint is comfort, the blueprint tries to do that instead, resulting in weak defense and attack power than it'd have been if you focused on that - in truth, with 15 Bastion data, you could most likely create a full-body pseudo-kevlar armor that is full-on bulletproof and lets you get off with minor bruises from being rammed by a truck going at full speed, if you didn't put the data into spheres it has no idea about.

Due to the data errors, the suit comes off flawed; it's slow, and the ability to react and do things quickly is slightly diminished. Bastion data doesn't specialize in power-armor, though its specialty in armor grants it some leeway.

To be fair, though, it is possible to built a functioning power-suit from only Bastion data, provided it focuses mainly on armor and brute defense, but even then, 15 Bastion data is very little.

Naturally, each time you build it, the suit will have unexpcted functions due to Chaos Tinker shenanigans.

You can accept this draft and pay 15 Bastion data to be capable of building it, or withdraw. If you accept this draft, it will be possible to modify it in the future and add more Data to it to make it smoother. In that case, you could look at this as a prototype, but it's all up to you.

If possible, I’d like to draft up another blueprint for something else but it’s fine if I cant do that at this moment.
You can submit as many of them as you want.

Awesome! I'll keep that in mind.
im sorry for all the questions but I do have more ^^'
Also, I'm assuming that Bianca can only mimic humans physiology? No animal skin or sharpened teeth or such?
Would she be able to add human parts to places that don't necessarily belong, like eyes on her arms? jeez im scaring myself

Also, I'm assuming that Bianca can only mimic humans physiology? No animal skin or sharpened teeth or such?
She can accurately mimic:
- Normal human physiology.
- Small objects, which can be disconnected from the body but will die afterwards.

It is possible to mimic other stuff, like eyes on arms and such, but anything else than the two above will always show heavy flaws and most likely cause Thinker headaches. Think of it this way: This power is meant to fool people into thinking you're not a freak, everything else is a secondary concern for the shard.

Spazzycat101 Spazzycat101 Where is the grocery store? Is it in proximity to the Docks, where the ABB has most of its territory, you would say? I've rolled for a random encounter, and you got a ninety, which indicates, "Gang versus villain." I'm just not sure whether it should be ABB gangsters against an E88 cape, or E88 members against an ABB cape.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind. I'll roll for that too.

Speaking of dice rolls, this one is really crappy for you. You rolled probably the second strongest cape in the Empire Eighty-Eight for this encounter. Well, you can always go about your day and ignore heroics.

Then again, no idea if Serana has a mask on her.

Not with her, no. Good thing tho that she can’t be hit. She does Not want to die.

Haha, oh man, at least I know the sad reality of having your hopes up. I’ll withdraw and give you two great and maybe working ideas now that I understand the whole data thing:

Hard Powered Exosuit

An Exosuit akin to something like Iron Man’s suit but not as sleek nor slim-fitted. The suit is bulky and not exactly the most beautiful one out there, for what it lacks in impressionability, it‘s made to excel in it’s intended purpose; to protect the wearer and allow the wearer to achieve greater levels of strength and endurance. It’s comfortable to a small standard akin to an old couch, designed to give the wearer the ability to do basic and semi-complex movements, but nobody is gonna doing mixed martial arts in this suit.

The suit is simple in it’s design, each limb connects up onto the chest through latch-like connectors that stay firmly on. It encompasses every part of the wearer from their head to their toes, although it’s design is more suited to fit onto Ezekiel’s body and may not fit as comfortably and/or easily on someone else’s body. Putting the suit on is a matter of getting each limb and body part on while latching them in.

Data: 20

Kiteshield

A kiteshield basically, it function is as protecting the user. The shield is thick and extremely heavy, it has three 2cm thick panels that cover it. These three panels can extend outwards in all directions, even keeping the shape the of the shield while extended. The edges on each of the panels are almost as sharp as kitchen knives, especially the end of the kiteshield. It‘s connection to the user is made through straps that wrap around the user’s fingers and forearm to keep stability.

Data: 15

I'll post results when I get home but in short they are very promising.

With more data to fuel it, the suit's general parameters increase. Since you're not using up data on other stuff, the blueprint puts emphasis where it matters and shows - I think you'll agree - impressive results for 20 Data. Notice that, even at 20 Data, its protective capabilities are somewhat superior to Noble Scion's BEM Suit, simply because Bastion data specializes in armor, defense, and materials, and so does the Bastion shard, which you have.

For the record, 20 Data is equivalent to a single primary effect in a given power, and the description below does sound like something that a Brute might have as his power's primary effect, no?

So, yeah, good for you.

Hard Powered Exosuit
Data: 20
Blueprint - Hard Powered Exosuit
Armor, defense, material, powered

This device is a bulky exoskeletal powered suit fitted for a human, layered with heavy plates of shiny gray durasteel armor. Each joint contains a powered servo, assisting movement and conferring a 2.15x strength boost to all actions.

The suit weighs 100kg, slows down movement by 6.75% while worn, and has pressure-based movement, with a 0.21-second delay between limb movement and reaction from the suit; it feels a little bit clunky, but the increase in exerted force grants the wearer a tactility of endurance.

The suit's durasteel plating confers full immunity to any kind of Stage 1 and 2 injuries; kinetic, thermal, energy, cold, chemical, etc, and is lined to absorb up to 750 rads of radiation, and disperses them without negative effects on the user within 1 hour or less. The suit has a very high general resistance to Stage 3 and 4 injuries; lowering both to Stage 1, and a kinetic immunity to Stage 3 damage. It lowers Stage 5 injuries to Stage 3, so it can literally save your life. The suit is environmentally sealed and protects from gas attacks.

For each Stage 3 injury the suit helps defend against, it loses 1 Durability. For Stage 4, it loses 2 Durability, Stage 5 it loses 7 Durability. It breaks upon receiving anything that counts as being even more damaging than a Stage 5 injury.

Durability: 60/60
Repair Cost: $90 x point of Durability
Repair Time: 50 minutes x point of Durability

Blueprint Data Value: Bastion 20

Base Construction Cost: $10,700
Base Construction Time: 50 hours, 12 minutes
Required Materials: High-grade industrial steel, bolting, leather straps, minor electronics, minor hydraulics, durable joint mechanisms (can be built from steel,) power generator of some sort (or) alternative materials.

Still, you should see what this'd look like at 40 Bastion data. Or 60. Stage 5 wounds, what are those? Oh, like when an Endbringer steps on me? I call that "tickling."

You can accept the blueprint and pay 20 Bastion data to add it to your blueprint list, or you can reject and refund the data.

Now, the Kiteshield. You've condensed 15 Data into a single item with a single purpose (the fact it can be used as a weapon aside, but this actually applies to all shields if you know how to use them); a purpose in which you also specialize. Obviously, this will be quite an impressive item for its low data value. If you were going for a Captain America, you definitely won, because this thing is fully bulletproof, fireproof, laserproof, and whathaveyou-proof.

Also, due to the simplicity of its materials, the shield is easy and quick to both assemble and repair. In fact, due to shard shenanigans, you could probably assemble (or jury rig,) it from random stuff you found in a junkyard with little to no tools. It's the shard that turns steel into durasteel, since the chemical processes cannot be replaced without exotic matter not available on Earth.

You might notice that despite having more data, the power armor isn't quite as statistically good as this, and that's simply because Bastion has to divide its focus on making it into power armor, instead of ordinary armor. This has no such thing, so Bastion can fully devote 100% of itself into its specialty and into a purpose so crystallized it creates a device that, despite having low data, could be called perfect for its intended function.

In fact, this is probably the single perfect "utility/weapon/main thing" kind of item for your specialty.

I have to say, this is a simply beautiful and beautifully simple application of your shard and data's specialty to create something that's cheap and works. According to all rules I have for tinkering, this is a very high-quality blueprint, and the way everything is applied, it is meant to be one.

Kiteshield
Data: 15
Blueprint - Kiteshield
Defense, armor, mechanical, shield, weapon, handheld

This device is an almond-shaped kiteshield, of a big enough size that it covers the wearer's forearm and fist. It has a second and third layer of armor that can unhitch and slide out from beneath like the parts of a telescope to cover a bigger square surface, which can be done by pressing a small plate next to the fist (can be done one-handed with minimum practice, even during combat,) but the extra plates have to be put back in manually with the help of the other hand.

The shield protects from virtually any damage, no matter type or category, up to Stage 3. It confers extensive protection against Stage 4 injuries, fully nullifying all non-physical attacks, like energy, heat, cold, radiation, hard-radio, electricity, etc, but kinetic damage (physical hits, projectiles,) hitting at Stage 4 instead lower their damage to Stage 1. Stage 5 injuries are lowered to Stage 2 if kinetic and Stage 1 if any other. Any damage above Stage 5 (Stage 6, etc,) is lowered by three Stages.

Acid and corrosive chemicals cannot damage the shield's durability, no matter what, and cannot damage the user either if they cover themselves from it using the shield.

The shield has sharpened edges, fit for cutting-kinetic damage, and is constructed well-enough to deal Stage 2 and 3 slashing or 'stabbing' injuries on a good hit.

It is strapped to the user's forearm and hand with leather straps.

The shield loses 1 Durability with every time it absorbs Stage 4 damage. It loses 5 Durability with every time it absorbs Stage 5 damage, and 25 Durability with anything above that.

Durability: 100/100
Repair Cost: $1 x 2 points of Durability
Repair Time: 10 seconds x point of Durability

Blueprint Data Value: Bastion 15

Base Construction Cost: $50
Base Construction Time: 20 minutes
Required Materials: Steel plating, leather straps (or) alternative materials.
Also, you can plausibly put your logo/emblem on this. Nice.

You can accept the blueprint and spend 15 Bastion data to add it to your blueprint list, or reject and refund the data.

I gladly accept both blueprints! Thanks for putting up with me and not understanding the data thing.

I’ll be adding this to my blueprints section now.

Alright, add them to your Created Blueprints section, and make sure to remove 35 Data from your Host Data Pool.

Birdsie Birdsie Oh my god I did it again
One time in dnd we went an Entire Whole session with no fighting whatsoever (except a little infighting) because I, remember bard, just wouldn’t shut up and or stop being polite
Ohoho I love nonviolent resolutions that happen just because I and my characters are all dumbass chatterboxes

Oh, no, no, don't get me wrong. Combat isn't the point here. You do what you will, and this still had an impact. Purity will recognize Serana as a civvie if she ever sees her again. On top of that, their shards became acquainted. This could have repercussions, and the fact they didn't fight also changes things.

This is fine, trust me.

Good, because during that session one of our characters was supposed to die because the player couldn’t reliably come to the sessions anymore. But I kinda forgot about that. And he did Not die.

MoltenLightning MoltenLightning

I'm impressed, the way you rolled with your power and the horror of it and managed to portray how it must be pretty much torture for her.
Oh,,, thanks! I'm excited to really explore how far Bianca is willing to go to reach the full extent of her power
And what morals she's willing to bend
Because it's easy to start slipping once you've made the first little 'exception' ;]

Sorry haven't posted my job keeps my fairly busy during the week! Typing one up soon
