Realistic or Modern Fragmentation [OOC]

By the by, I really liked that Trigger Event. It didn't have much directness, but there was a brutal reality to what happened.

Bootlegged Body - Changer 6 (Master/Stranger 5), Thinker 3

The host's body permanently changes to be a genderless, slim, boney humanoid, with scraggly or absent muscular structure. Their entire body is hairless, including the head, and the face becomes a flat expanse of skin, with nooks where the eyes and mouth should be, and a small peak where the nose should be. Despite being effectively eyeless, noseless, mouthless, and earless, the host doesn't lose any of the associated senses, except for taste.

The host's voice in this state can be compared to the buzzing of a swarm of insects, or a "demonic cacophony of noises," layering into each other, as if a thousand voices were speaking at once.

Henceforth, this body will be referred to as the 'Default Form.'

Freakshow - primary effect

At will, the host's Default Form grows a second, composite body over itself, composed of fat tissue, muscle fibers, cells, skin of natural color and hair of any color. Their vocal cords alter themselves to any pitch, tone, and timbre the host chooses, and eyeballs, nostrils, mouth, and ears emerge, in any shape the user decides, and in the eyes' case, any color. The host grows traits and genitals of the associated gender in this state.

The host can grow organic implements which mimic synthetic implements. Things like clothing, or even simple items like keys can be produced this way, and without chemical analysis, they appear to be normal objects. If these objects are taken away from the host's body, they will begin to "die" in three minutes. Two hours after that, they will produce a smell reminiscent of rotting flesh, and six hours later, they will wither into a dry husk. In a full day, the object degrades into powder. This may be used to produce counterfeit dollar bills, though obviously they don't last long.

The host can assume their exact pre-Trigger form with extreme ease, like breathing or blinking. When maintaining this body, the host is capable of sexual procreation, eating, drinking, becoming inebriated, and even having offspring, for as long as they maintain their pre-Trigger form. If the host drops their pre-Trigger form for another during pregnancy, the baby will be displaced into the shard dimension and provided nutrients and care for there, for as long as the host is holding another form, to the upper limit of three days. The host is aware of this on a weirdly conscious level.

The host can perfectly copy any person they have seen, but only to the extent of their information. If provided with a facial photo, they can only copy the face. If given a voice, they can copy only the voice. If they see the person themselves, the host can copy everything, up to and including body language, mannerisms, and vocabulary, which is provided by the secondary effect (read below.)

Any form of genetic testing or blood testing will show that the host isn't who they look like and reveal the facade, unless the host can somehow obtain that information, like in the secondary effect (read below.)

If the host receives a Stage 2 injury or above, their fake body is torn away, to reveal their Default Form. They cannot assume any body other than the Default Form after that for a span of two minutes, and once they do, their assumed form has a random number of flaws equivalent to the size of the injury. This effect stays with them for as long as they are injured, unless the injury drops to Stage 1.

If the host dispels this effect, their fake skin sinks into their Default Form like water into earth.

Circus Make-Up - secondary effect

The host gains a Thinker ability, which they can use for up to a full, run-on two hours daily, after which they get progressively debilitating headaches, comparable to a 'bad migraine' at the three-hour mark, and agonizing pain after four hours. The host will lose consciousness from pain after five hours of continuous usage. The best way to use it would be in short bursts, but that does not remove the time limit, only spreads it across a longer timeline.

As long as the Thinker ability is active, the host will be provided with perfect knowledge of the mannerisms, body language, and vocabulary of the target they are copying, limited to their own impression and knowledge of the target. The mimicry borders on being perfect and will fool even good friends or family members who see the target on a daily basis, but the host will not gain any knowledge about the target that they, themselves haven't discovered, so a "I will ask you each a question, a question to which only the real X knows!" test will accurately prove the host to be the fake.

In addition, if the host can find tissue from the target they are copying and eat it (or, if in the Default Form, stick it on their skin,) they can perfectly mimic its genetic makeup during any future transformations.

Laughing Clown - minor effect

The host heals their wounds at 2.5x the speed of a baseline human and bleeds out at 0.75x the speed. The host still feels pain, but they are less mentally influenced and 'scared' by it and can ignore its effects slightly more.

It's Me - minor effect

The host has a permanent, subtle Master/Stranger effect. It increases people's trust toward them, and their belief in the host's fake disguise, by roughly 12% average. This does not work on Master and Thinker parahumans.

Noctis Cape - special effect

A relatively rare side-effect of the parahuman condition, appearing in less than three percent parahumans. It removes the physical and mental need to sleep, but the host can still sleep if they desire it. Its causes are unknown.

Manton Limit: Self, organic tissue, human.

Lethality: Not lethal, but can help you gain people's trust, so you stab them in the back when they least expect it.

Data: Polytomy ++++++++++ ++++++++++ ++++++++++ ++++++++++ (40)

Polytomy: "A shard specializing in the area of infiltration, espionage, acting, and social-oriented stealth. Very experienced and sophisticated in its specialty."

MoltenLightning MoltenLightning

If you think this power is the very meaning of irony, you are correct. The shard thought it'd be funny, and weirdly, it fits. Bianca isn't an exception to being a freak, the damage is still there and one could say it's far worse, it's just that now she can hide it as she pleases, to appear perfect.

The Trigger Event is, at the very core, a Changer Trigger. The revulsion related to body image is a centric concept here, but the core is surrounded by Master and Stranger elements of the host fearing what will happen if other people begin feeling disgusted by them. The main effect reflects this by twisting the host's body into what was described. The sudden and unexpected shock, the inability to process what happened, reaching a critical mass in such a short period of time with a degree of delusion and even insanity, has resulted in the Thinker-side effect of the power.

Note the fact that when assuming the pre-Trigger body, Bianca regains the ability to have children. Her desire, at its core, was to not be a freak, and the so the shard granted her the ability to have a normal life. It's just that this "normal life" is a brittle facade, and the "freak" is always there, lurking underneath it.

Also, the dice said that you will gain Noctis status. It's an effect available to pretty much all shards, which they apply to their hosts when they believe that particular host's ability to participate in parahuman conflict would be "damaged by sleeping."

Lots of eldritch horror in this one, and Polytomy is enjoying it.

holy. jeez.
I both love and hate it lol
I could see Bianca being very upset with this ability and struggling to ignore it in favor of a normal life haha,,
But totally freaky and interesting!

That's the point, bucko! Just wait until you Second Trigger. It gets better worse.

Unless you want to veto it for another power, that's fine too.

Oh b o y Honestly the Default Form kind of reminds me of Mannequin and I'm sho o k

Uhhh I'll think about it for a bit, but I'm pretty okay with it right now haha
I don't really know what I could change in the description tbh that would make it very different,,,

It's supposed to remind you of him, those shards budded from the same progenitor.

Alright, if you change your mind or get any ideas, let me know. You're free to veto it until you post as the character.

oh okay cool!
What if I changed how she thought of the arm? Like, instead of fearing what other people thought of her arm, she feared for her own safety and wasn't delusional?
Just curious! I gotta see if I can come up with ideas if there are any ^^

It'd be less Changer, more Brute. Less fear of being a freak would mean the Master/Stranger elements are removed, and with them, the entire jenga basis of this power collapses into ruin and all that remains is a new Trigger Event for the shard to work with.

Would most likely result in a power that's far less sophisticated in espionage (basic shapeshifting between forms, less Thinker aid, longer or more flawed shapeshifting, no trust minor effect,) but it'd be more brutish. The regeneration effect would likely go from minor effect (5 data) to secondary effect (10 data) and maybe she'd gain more generalized biokinesis with light stranger undertones. Polytomy specializes entirely in espionage, and is diverse in many ways within that specialty, so it isn't particularly suited for any Trigger other than Master/Stranger.

At worst, Eden and Zion probably replace the shard with another one.

Gotcha. Well, with that in mind, I probably won't change it.
Playing around with the power she now has and seeing how she might stretch her morals to accomplish more with her powers seems like it'd be fun ;3c
and hey, she could be a really good Elvis impersonator xD

I did have a few questions tho, just to clear up some ambiguity:
If their genetic information is public (like blood type or such?) would Bianca be able to use it when transforming?
How long does it take for her to gain perfect knowledge of a person's mannerisms, vocabulary, etc?
(thats it for now but i may come up with more later xP)

If their genetic information is public (like blood type or such?) would Bianca be able to use it when transforming?
Yes. The power has enough Thinker elements that I think the shard would be able to interpret this kind of information, assuming you could actually find it somehow.

She gains knowledge from observing, then by activating her Thinker power, she essentially becomes a perfect actor, applying these mannerisms and such with ideal precision based on her own knowledge and slight-precog boosts from the shard telling her what the person would say in this situation.

Ah, gotcha! That clarifies some things, thank you...

Oh, I just came up with another question:
Can Bianca mimic things, like how she can form clothes? Could she crouch and mimic the appearance of a trash can, for stealth purposes? So long as its around her size?
Or is it only human disguises?

She can try. Attempting to mimic objects bigger than "handheld" will see... mixed... results.

Birdsie Birdsie I have several questions about my character’s ability. First off, what exactly do you mean when you say that it ‘rapidly changes altitude? Like does it just keep bobbing up and down unless Natalya specifically orders them not to? Also, how far is the effective range of these stars?

Does she maintain control of it the full way? And does it get harder to control the more they are? And just to clarify, the stars only move forward and backward until they hit something right? Or can I control them to move where ever I want them too?

And just as a stupid one, can she theoretically step on two of these stars and ride them as Mr. Mriacle would his discs, with just a more limited maneuverability?

And lastly, just to make sure, did no mutations happen when she ingested the vial? Just wanting to make sure.

Yes they bob up and down very quickly unless she tells them not to, and practically unlimited so long as they aren't a kilometer away. Further than that and it gets extremely difficult to keep them existing, because that's the range for most shardside effects, including effective communication/shard functions.

She maintains control of them at any range, and yes, it gets harder to control them the more there are, and ten is the hard limit. And yes, they only move forward and backward.

Yes, she can, at the risk of falling over. Creative, though.

No mutations, you rolled a solid 63.

So, by shooting them out and dispelling them once they hit and order them to go at full speed, she could effective shoot them out like a machinegun?

Yes. This'd take quite a bit of control to do, though. She'll have to train.
What about the secondary effect? Does the ‘sngle target’ mean like only a person or that all the blades only target one thing? Does it home on the target if it is movie or does it only hit at where I specifically aim them at?

And does deploying these blades have any physical or mental exhaustion associated with it, or could she theoretically spew stars endlessly?

Single target means that you select a single point in space that you want the blades to hit, and they will fly in that direction to the best of their ability, but may be obstructed by physical cover. The blades do not have homing qualities of any kind.

Having too many stars or blades running at the same time causes mental exhaustion. The soft limit (where things begin to grow very tiresome,) is eight stars/forty blades, but the actual hard limit is ten stars/fifty blades.

Birdsie Birdsie As per the contract with Cauldron, am I joining up with the Wards or the Brockton Bay Brigade? And also, since I’m just joining, I don’t have a costume or any gear they provide right?

Since your character is an adult, she is joining the Protectorate, for which the local team is the BBB (Brockton Bay Brigade.) The PRT has a Branding department that designs costumes for Protectorate capes, though obviously, you need to talk with the director, get accepted for the job, pass psychological and health screening, power testing, discuss merchandise, etc. After that, you're on probation so you can prove you won't tear the first robber in your path into shreds with a laser-beam.

That's bad for Public Relations.

All of this will be included in the IC correct?

Birdsie Birdsie who does my character need to talk to in order to send an application to join the protectorate?
There are two main, official methods.

1. Call the emergency number, have them reroute you to the PRT. Tell them you just got powers and need help. They will assume you are a Natural Trigger and send someone to pick you up, where you show them your power. It's straight into the Director's office after that.
2. Send the PRT Director an e-mail, introducing yourself, talking about your powers, and your interest in joining the Protectorate.

Once you talk to the Director, he will register you for the country's national parahuman registry, and if you agree to undergo power-testing, you will be allowed to become an Independent cape. Alternatively, and he will definitely try to push you in this direction, you can join the Protectorate to get a costume, become a celebrity-crimefighter, and collect a paycheck for doing your part.

After you accept such a proposal, you'll have to write a normal CV, followed by a normal job interview. Despite that, this entire part is for appearances' sake, as due to official PRT conduct, he has no option but to accept you if you want to join, no matter how incompetent you are, unless, of course, you are mentally or physically disabled in some way.

From there, the rest of the shindig happens; psychologist, branding, deciding on a theme, outfit, name, merchandise plan, first patrols, etc. And so, you become an official Protectorate member.

So do I contact you here if I want to do any of my tinker abilities? Cause right now, I’m itching for a Draft but I’m also wondering about how that works; do or can I give you an idea of what I want drafted or is it just a play on luck and how your feeling?

Here's how it works.

First, you tag me in OOC and describe the name and intended function of the device, as well as the amount of Data you want to put into said device. You can add as much detail to the functions of the device as you want, and if you added enough Data of the right kind, the shard will try to replicate its functions as close to the given description as possible. For example:

Flak Cannon

A stationary turret capable of rotating around its own axis, always aimed at least ninety or more degrees upward from the ground. It can shoot shells that specialize in taking down aircraft. It is built from steel.

Data: 20 Bastion.

Afterwards, I reply, for example with something like this. Keep in mind that as a Chaos Tinker, there might be some variation in what you get, and unexpected additions or things you didn't put in there. The functionality and effectiveness of the device also depends on the type and amount of data you put into it.

Specialty Blueprint - Flak Cannon
Turrets, immobile, defenses, emplacements, point-defense, manned

This device is an anti-air turret emplacement from reinforced steel, taking up 6x6x4 meters of space, and possibly requiring more space for the barrel of the gun, which is four-hundred and twenty (420) centimeters long. It has a seat for the shooter on the left side, along with a small joystick-shaped steering implement and holographic crosshairs with three magnification modes of 2x, 4x and 8x respectively. Upon pressing or holding down the button on the steering implement, the device will shoot out exploding flak projectiles from the barrel at a fire-rate of one flak per second and with a capacity of two-hundred flak projectiles.

It has an effective range of six (6) kilometers.

The turret has a free rotation of 360° around its own axis, and can pitch upward freely.

The device is immune to Stage 1, 2, and 3 attacks, and has a general kinetic resistance to Stage 4 attacks, as well as a full ballistic immunity to Stage 4 attacks. It can be destroyed with artillery or Stage 5 attacks. Kinetic Stage 4 attacks take away 2 Durability from the device, and Stage 5 damage of any kind removes 10 Durability from the device.

Durability: 20/20
Repair Cost: $100 x point of Durability
Repair Time: 30 minutes per point of Durability

Blueprint Data Value: Bastion 20

Base Construction Cost: $5,600 (can be lowered to $850 by using low-grade steel and removing the data disk, but this lowers performance and durability.)
Base Construction Time: 20 hours, 15 minutes
Required Materials: Reinforced steel, gas chamber (can be made from steel,) plastic, wiring, flak projectiles (or) alternative materials.

The blueprint consumes 20 Bastion data from your Data Pool, and you add it to your list of created blueprints.

Then, when you want to build the device, you have to buy the materials listed for $5,600 and spend 20 Bastion data on the construction. Since you are a Chaos Tinker, you might see an addition or two like these to the device:

(Chaos Tinker) The turret has an inbuilt laser-tracking system that, when activated, will automatically track aircraft and shoot it down for the user.

(Chaos Tinker) The turret's ammunition chamber has a secondary chamber above it that drops down a blue Tinker-made dust-like substance, sprinkling it over flak projectiles before firing. The dust-like substance sticks to whatever it contacts and interferes with electromagnetic waves, possibly disrupting communication or functions of the enemy aircraft.

(Chaos Tinker) The turret has an inbuilt potential energy actuator. Instead of firing barrages of flak projectiles, the device can be "charged up" to fire projectiles that go as fast as Mach 2 at maximum charge.

Despite the Chaos Tinker additions, the required materials do not have an addition of "EMP materials" or anything like that. The shard does that completely on its own.
