Lyla glanced around, ensuring that her sister wasn't in the vicinity before returning her attention to the ice cube tray. There was something wrong with the freezer; whether it was just the settings or something else entirely, the ice cubes weren't freezing properly. Holding up her hand, palm out, she watched with muted satisfaction as the liquid in the segregated sections of the container iced over. Whoops, a little too much.

Snatching the ice cube tray off the counter, she grimaced as she saw that she'd accidentally frozen part of a pot holder to the counter. This is what you get for trying to be sneaky! She chastised herself, practically throwing the ice cube tray into the freezer before slamming the door shut and hovering her hand over the pot holder.

Within seconds, the pot holder began to thaw, and she sighed in relief as the ice disappeared completely. With a sigh, she threw the thing back into it's proper drawer and turned away from the counter, done with the kitchen. Finding herself in the living room, she plopped down onto her favorite chair and curled up, reaching for the book she'd set on the arm.

She knew she wouldn't have peace long.

"the window's open and so's that door. . . .
zdl2hs5.png
A
s light blared through the open window, a soft mew echoed in the newly moved-in room that held a variety of boxes laying around from one side of the wall to the next. Under the white, comfortable covers of the bed laid a scarlet-haired woman who was sound asleep, curled up against her pillow as her hand laid out under her head for support. Soft chirps echoed through the room as two blue jays perched on the windowsill, greeting the new day. Despite the summer heat, the skies were open and clear, perhaps taunting the inhabitants of the world to come outside and enjoy the fresh air. The flowers were in full bloom and the plants were all sprinkled with water thanks to the 21st century equipment and the workers of the apartment grounds. The apartment buildings were well-kept and the sisters were able to thankfully, find one open complex for the both of them to move into at such a spontaneous time. Regardless, the space was incredibly beautiful and top-notch, much to Eviana's excitement and wonder at being in a new home and new area far from her and her sisters childhood home.

Technology, science, and magic - all three vastly different ideals yet at some points, these ideals may just cross paths someway or at least, that's what the youngest of the two sisters believed. She believed in the wonders of the world, the logistics, the practicality, but most of all the whimsicalities. It was nothing new, nor did she ever feel ashamed for being a dreamer. Her dreams were always filled with mysteries and she could only hope the mystery of her family would come to light soon. It wasn't until midday did the youngest of the sisters find herself being woken up abruptly from her slumber. She hadn't known she slept-in and perhaps it was the restless nights and all of the energy she had within the last few days bubbled over together had finally caught up to her. With a slight jump, Eviana quickly sat upright with a slight squeal, feeling her heart hammering against her chest.

She had a dream she was falling and before she knew it, she woke up with a fright. Her hair was unkempt and frazzled everywhere from her sleep. Groggily rubbing her eyes, Eviana stretched, realising it was one of those "spur of the moment" flinching dreams that caused people to jump from unconscious to conscious. Smacking her lips together as she swallowed her saliva, she felt parched feeling dryness in her throat. Shaking her head, Eviana looked around feeling slightly out of place. Where was she? Blinking, Eviana's vision slowly cleared as she gradually started to remember that she and Lyla had recently just moved into their new home. One. . .two . . . three! Once Eviana finally registered her predicament, another excited squeal escaped her lips as she quickly tried to get out of bed only to clumsily fall off with her legs still atop her bed and the other half of her body on the ground, fallen from whatever grace she had.

"Ow!" She groaned softly, rubbing her head as she frantically got up, heading to the open window. With wide-eyes and a gleeful smile, Eviana sighed softly, soaking in the warm air as she stretched once more. However, as she looked outside her window, she noticed another apartment was facing her own though they were quite a few feet apart. Without a thought, Eviana waved frantically across to her neighbor, hoping they could see her. "Good morning over there!" She called out towards them but it seemed as if they didn't hear her. Furrowing her brows together, Evianna hummed. She wanted to get to know everyone in the apartment. . . perhaps. . . That's it!

Moving like the wind, despite tripping over her boxes as she noisily headed to the restroom to get ready for the day, Eviana had an amazing idea! Once she finished, Eviana skipped out of the bathroom and headed to the living room where she was greeted by Lyla. However, seeing as Lyla was sitting on her favorite chair and reading, Eviana tried her best to sneak up on her sister, missing her tremendously. She could hardly believe her sister was a few feet in front of her! Even more so, she was able to speak at least more than a few words to her for the past days! It was like a dream come true.

Tip-toeing towards Lyla, hoping she hadn't spotted her yet, Eviana sneakily made her way towards the kitchen and hopefully to the back of the couch Lyla was sitting on. However, if Eviana's luck would have it, she had stubbed her toe against one of the tables. A slight hiss escaped Eviana's lips and she could only fall over on the ground, cursing the table. But, realising she had been loud, Eviana looked up and over towards Lyla, awkwardly waving at her.

"Lyla! H. . . hi, I didn't even see you there!" Eviana started to ramble, clearing her throat as she stood up. "I . . you see. . the table it was in my way and . . . and. . " She trailed off before looking at the book Lyla held in her hand.

Without a word, Eviana headed towards an empty spot on the couch, scooting as close as she can in Lyla's direction despite her sitting on the opposite couch. "What are you reading?" She asked, tilting her head to the side in wonder. However, before her thoughts could leave her, Eviana continued, grinning, "Oh! But, Lyla. . . . I had this amazing, no, incredible idea! When we were on our way to the apartment. . . we passed by a Cafe and do you know what I smelled?" Eviana asked, the corners of her lips turning upwards as she grinned widely.

Taking a deep breath, Eviana tried to be as patient as she could, wanting to see if her sister would answer her question. But, no matter how hard she tired, Eviana couldn't resist, "Chocolate!" She giggled softly, feeling all giddy all over again. "Do you think we should bake some for the neighbors? Oh! Can we meet them? Oh, please, Lyla? Please?" Eviana pleaded, trying to give her best pouty face towards her sister.

As his alarm went off on his phone he quickly shot up his head from his desk and looking around the room with his mouth wide open and a piece of post-it paper stuck to his cheek. He took off the post it and starts to rub his eyes so he could grab his phone to look at the time. "Jeez it's 12 already, I only studied for 2 hours.". He lets out an annoyed groan knowing that he is tired and annoyed. Kris closed all his books and puts them away in the draw and gets up to go to the kitchen.

When Kris left his room he closed the door and slowly walks to the kitchen to get some food in his system, he paused for a second and realized. "This apartment is way to quiet", he said to himself but, he ignored it and was more focused on getting some food. Kris went into the fridge and he saw it was stacked with food "THANK JESUS FOR THIS WONDER FOOD IN HERE". The first thing he took out was the freshly made sandwich that was looking back at him and he knew that he wanted to eat that sandwich. Kris took it out and placed it on the table along with a glass of water to drain it all down.

Once he sat at the table he picked up the sandwich and he stuffed it in his mouth moaning at how good it was. "so good", he tried to say but he still had chunks of sandwich in his mouth. After his first bite and he took a drink of his water he got up and he looked out the window, observing the weather making sure it was bright and sunny just like it's supposed to be. Kris has been making sure that he is calm and relaxed so he doesn't create a whole hurricane or something to the town, the last thing he needed was to cause destruction to the weather. He smiled at what was going on outside which little kids playing around having fun because the weather was nice and he liked seeing that it made him happy for them.

Stephen Blondell

Stephen has been in this Uber for about an hour while skimming through his instagram feed. He was on his way back to the apartment from two months spent in the African country, Kenya. Steph was doing some longterm volunteering with animals and other charity work, so he is just now getting all missed notifications.
Stephen let out a yawn before the Uber driver abruptly stopped in front of the apartment complex.
After paying the driver, he went into the building with his luggage. Steph stopped to check Kris and Andel's mailbox since he practically lives with them (and Stephen has all his mail go to this address anyway).
Steph grabbed the newest mail of the day. He skimmed through the mail, bills, etc. until he noticed another mailbox out of the corner of his eye.
Quirking a brow, Steph picked up one of the envelopes and read the last name, Wolff. Steph shrugged and put the envelope back into the mailbox, you sure do miss a lot while being gone for two months...

"Hi honey, I'm home!" Stephen yelled into the apartment as he rolled his luggage in, laughing. He tossed the mail on the kitchen counter and threw his luggage to the side. Steph then walked over to Kris and messed with his hair, "How's my boy!?" he asked in a joking manner, "But really, how are you?"

Steph walked back into the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of beer, "I heard we got new neighbors! You should be more of a people person and meet them." Steph chuckled and took a sip from the bottle.

Andel Drevsky

The car was too cold. The music playing was too loud and preppy. Her whining voice that cut sharply into his ears over the thumping bass got on his nerves. Andel clutched at his coffee like it was life support as he stared resolutely out the window, tuning out her irrelevant babbling. He could only be thankful that they were nearing his apartment.

“You live around here?” The woman asked with that airy, pompous tone of hers, sharp eyes scanning the area with something like a dubious look.

“Doesn’t suit you,” she commented unnecessarily upon receiving no response. He fought not to roll his eyes. Being a government agent, you’d think she would be more grounded in the real world in which his current neighborhood was a perfectly standard one.

“I don’t like unnecessarily fancy things,” he replied, curt, quite obviously digging at her dolled up appearance and irritatingly shiny sports car. Surprise flickered in her eyes that was quickly replaced by a sulky look. He was beginning to regret his choice to catch a quick ride.

Once the car stopped in front of his residence, he stepped out so quickly with barely any greeting that an onlooker might think him escaping from a nagging mother instead of a blonde bombshell. The rush of warm air that attacked him fogged over his glasses and caused droplets of water to drip down his arm from his cup but he ignored both things as he rushed up the stairs to his room.

He opened the door to the apartment with more relief than he had in quite awhile. His gaze wandered the living room, eyes catching a haphazardly place luggage outside the kitchen. That accompanied by sounds of laughter from further inside told him that Stephen had returned from his trip. Why the man had returned to this apartment instead of his own, Andel had no idea.

He intruded on the duo in the kitchen to place down his melting iced coffee on the counter and wash his hands.

“Good afternoon,” he greeted, narrowed eyes regarding the sandwich in Kristopher’s hands. He was pretty sure that was his. Just as nearly everything in the refrigerator often was. He stifled a sigh at the sight of the bread disappearing into the man’s mouth.

Doesn’t suit you. Andel didn’t know about the house itself but the people here truly did not suit him. He grew up with vastly different people, after all, from his dignified father to his elegant mother. He himself was a vastly different person from what he had started to realize was the norm among most college students. But, well, he didn’t have a choice in where he lived.

This residence had registered far above normal magic volumes. The scientists suspected not just one but two gifted humans living here. Orion, the girl one floor above that often came by, was clearly one of them. Honestly, her gift was so obvious that he couldn’t not notice it if he tried. He had no idea who the other one was.

That uncertainty was the only reason why Andel hadn’t ended up using his gift on Kristopher to protect his groceries yet.
