This is NOT a school RP.

This is NOT a teen angst story.

This IS a story of Ethics and Evolution (physical and social).

For World History, Project Timeline and technological advances available to the characters beyond what the rest of the world has developed, see the first post in the In Character RP.

Project MDV began in 2014 with the purchase of Plum Island, NY. It was upon this island that the town of Eureka was founded. The project took a full five years to unfold as scientists were recruited based on disciplines, many leaders in their respective fields and ALL with superb genealogical history. Some of the other members of this town were more creatively inclined. And some were militarily or sports inclined.

The goal was the creation of a eugenically and socially enhanced environment with plans to breed a superior strain of children. Of course, they also never planned to allow Mother Nature to dictate the rules. Spouses were assigned by contract. The children, however, were the result of genetic engineering - splicing the best qualities they could obtain from their selective gene pool.

Following breakthroughs in genetics in 2020-21, the first children were conceived in 2024, born in 2025 thru 2028. In 2031 the Project came to an abrupt halt as a raid by the US government sought to appropriate the children having caught wind of the genetic breakthroughs and in hopes of creating a generation of super soldiers. The attempt failed. (Children aged 3 to 6 at this time.)

Project MDV had long foreseen the possibility of such an event - even before the purchase of Plum Island. Plans had been put into place long before. The scientists continued to fulfill their contracts as the parents of the children. Safehouses, jobs, identities had been established far in advanced. The parents of these children faded into obscurity. Engineers became auto mechanics and construction workers. Genetic engineers became general practitioners, nurses, or paramedics. Some became teachers at high schools. All their careers were aimed at obscurity. Some even fell in real love and had younger children - real families.

What they could not control were the children. These were young people born to surpass other children in all areas. The simple truth was that they would never be average. The search for both scientists and children had not ended at Eureka. And the search wasn’t limited to American efforts. Foreign countries coveted the breakthroughs as well.

As the children began to enter their teens they began to sense one another. For the most part distance separated them enough to prevent this. But every now and then they would come close enough for “unusual events” to occur. The most notable were connections between the oldest children - psychic connections. If the scientists had been making the usual observations and comparing notes, they might have noticed one child’s art depicting scenes from the lives of another childhood friend.

But the easiest differences to notice were the hardest to hide. These children were physically and mentally superior in every way. Their IQ’s ranged from 160 to 190. They were always and without fail in the top few percent of their class. Many of these children could have been star athletes. The only thing to prevent the children from being easily detected was the fact that they kept moving about as their parents “lost jobs” or “got laid off” or “quit.” Then they would find work in some other strange locale.

Project MDV had the foresight to realize they might have to contend with these problems. Site Bravo had been prepared at the same time as Plum Island but in a more secluded location. And in the late 2030’s (2037 to 2039) this phase of the project was activated. Slowly the failing parents “found work” in the quaint little town of Eureka, GA. This site was located on Blue Ridge Lake in northern Georgia. It was a very small, rural town with a private school.

These children were so smart that most had a PhD by the age of 15. High school for them was really postdoctoral work. This had been expected. So the plan had been to begin gathering the children at a new site - less notable than Plum Island - by the time the children were entering their teens. And they began filtering into the new town as they came of age.

The children were far from oblivious to the fact that their families hadn’t been rounded up by coincidence. The oldest children could remember being evacuated from Plum Island. For most children the time between Plum Island and their arrival in the new Eureka was only 5-6 years - with having to move every year or so. The youngest, of course, should not have remembered anything of that night. Some, however, had nightmares about that night. ALL will begin to remember events they could not have possibly witnessed personally (but perhaps by other children) once they begin to regroup.

As a collective these children will begin to develop at an accelerated pace.

Character Generation

Image

-Photos ONLY. No anime or toons.

Age

- ages 15 to 18.

Background (account for all years)

-Should begin with a brief section about the “parents.” With genetic engineering it doesn’t really matter what their disciplines are. The children often do not have the same ones as their parents. Rather a mentor program was encouraged to prevent favoritism of one parent over another.

-Should include a brief mention of siblings. Older children may have a younger enhanced sibling. Bear in mind the 4 year period the program covered. A 17 and a 15 year old is possible, or twins. But a 17 and a 11 year old are not. The younger sibling would have to be the product of a normal birth.

-Brief description of the 6 to 10 year period being on the run. Note parents careers and personal life. Keep in mind that to these children other children would be mentally and physically inferior. But their parents would be doing their best to instill tolerant behavior - blending in.

- Brief description of life since arriving in Eureka, Ga. I will be including a Google Map of the region. It won’t show Eureka, just the existing houses before the location was bought up. There is a nearby town of Blue Ridge, Ga.

Skills, etc

- I do NOT care about free running, blah, blah. I hardly even consider these skills. EVERY child will have has such training. All of your parents were taught how to raise you- given curriculums to follow - sort of a How to Raise Your Wunderkind.

- Children would NOT have been allowed to stand out - at least not for very long. The moment their accomplishments became notable it would have been time to move.

Standard Character Abilities and Training

Senses

- Vision 20/2 (20/8 is the theoretical limit of human vision. Hawks are believed to have 20/2.) Very good low light vision and sensitivity.

- Hearing (15 Hz to 44 kHz. This range is still developing. In early teens the upper limit is lower. By full maturity it is now expected to be a little higher. This was a very unexpected result.)

- Other senses are similarly enhanced

Physical Attributes

- Strength is about 100% higher than a health human of their same mass

- Movement is about 30% faster with enhanced reflexes, agility, and coordination. These specimens are naturally capable as athletes, gymnasts, and even combatants

- ALL children receive biofeedback training. They are able to place themselves into healing comas. Or they can draw upon impossible reserves of strength to do such things as lift a car off another person. The difference is that they can do so consciously.

- Aging - it is believed that these children will live to well over 200 years of age before beginning to show any signs of infirmity. This was one of the key elements of the 2021 research that initiated the active part of the Project.

- Healing rate is roughly twice as fast as a normal human. Biofeedback training can enhance this further. Resistance to disease is extremely high. (As children they did get sick from time to time, but developed immunities rapidly. In some cases immunities developed even before getting sick if another child had suffered an illness first.)

Intelligence

- The typical range is 160 to 190. But this has proven difficult to measure as it seems to change. The truth is more amazing that their parents realize. IQ rises as the children gather into a collective, They are developing into sort of primitive mass mind. While they never lose individuality, they DO draw upon the unused parts of the minds of other children in much the same way that timeshare computing enhanced the capacity of computers. Or they can draw upon the knowledge of the other children to make new discoveries. This is, so far, a subconscious ability.

- ALL children have an eidetic memory. Just how good this memory is is a matter for debate. The children used to play games to test their limits.

Paranormal Senses

- Touch Telempathy. This is one of the amazing abilities the children have developed. Of course, it varies between individuals. Not every child can link well with every other child. Many pair up. Early on some of the children demonstrated a tendency to be inseparable.

- Remote Sensing. NOT true remote sensing - but sensing through the eyes of other children.

NOTE: While the flashy Hollywood abilities like TK and the like haven’t been seen, these children do appear to represent a next stage in human evolution. They aren’t gods, but are definitely superior in every way. They have adapted to technical and social development beyond Homo Sapiens in ways we cannot fathom.

NOTE: It has also been noted that these children have also, on rare occasions, demonstrated the ability to use their paranormal abilities with unenhanced humans. Most notably this has occurred with autistic children. One small group of children was able to work with such a child - even touching him when he did not like being touched and altering his normal routine. The autistic child had lost a parent. They helped the child to adapt to a new guardian. They have also shown, on rare occasions, the ability to link their nervous systems with another to help control pain.

The Plot

Not everyone has the best interests of the children in mind. US government black ops divisions saw the potential of the children long ago and moved to seize the research and children (prototypes in their eyes) for the sake of national security. They truly believed they were doing the right thing. And from one way of thinking they were. The USA wasn’t the only nation conducting such research.

As our children grow into adults they will find themselves faced with political adversaries. They may have to make the hard choices of whether to assist the US government or remain apart. Many of the other groups of children will have been indoctrinated with different political ideologies. Some of these children may prove to be the result of more dramatic and inhuman gene splicing - although most of such children would be much younger. (The world is only a decade or so away from developing true synthetic humans.)

These children will also have to compete with transhumanism - the inevitable linking of man and machine. In short, it is a dog-eat-dog world out there. Being the next step in evolution doesn’t mean you will survive. This is the future’s version of Neanderthal vs Cro Magnon.

RULES

General Rules

  • All site rules apply
  • No God Modding, Bunnying, Metagaming, etc.
  • Romance is fine, but fade-to-black for those mature scenes (18+ stuff)

Writing Rules

  • Posts must be of good writing skills, and generally a minimum of three paragraphs. Really I am looking for better than that. I want paragraphs that aren’t two sentences long. Good content. Use third person, past tense.
  • Characters need to interact. While I realize that dialogue is challenging for some, it will be a requirement. Watch for examples of how to make speech more noticeable. (Most usually use boldface. Some add color.)
  • Try to stick to one or two posts a day, giving others a chance to post. What I do NOT want is to have two characters bouncing back and forth with short one paragraph posts. If you want to do that, build up a Joint Post in PM's, then have one of you copy and paste it, cleaned up for spelling and grammar, what clarity as to what character is doing / saying what.
  • As a minimum members are expected to post at least every other day - unless most of the RP is on hold for a scene between a couple characters. Then those characters need to wrap their scene up. The idea here is to not keep other members waiting.

Each Post should begin with a preface of:

Title (if possible)

Location

Time:

Characters present: (include character and member name with a tag)
