  Backstory: Arvel was once a young boy with ambition, a young kid who could run, run faster than any of his classmates. Born to a middle-class family, the boy's speed and energy were the only thing that distinguished his plain and uninteresting family from the rest. He wore that as a mark of pride, his identity, his purpose, a drive that could send him forward forever. That was until the day he was of age and could compete against the other schools, for a chance to participate in nationals. A chance which flew by him. It was hardly a fair race, there he had met the truly talented, the ones that made him eat dust, a reminder of he who was. But such a failure was only met by an emboldened spirit, a spirit that would awake early in the morning, focusing most his energies and efforts to perfect his run so that he could stand against those born to run. It was a true endeavor to test his unyielding soul, yet when the day came, to face against the demons of speed, he was once again made to eat dirt and this time he'd placed further back. They had improved, they were faster and better, they were born to run, not him, he was only born to eat the dirt kicked up by those that were gifted at birth.
  
  With a shattered soul and morale, Arvel dropped his love and passion for running, why even bother, he felt. Instead, he spent the remaining pieces of his mind into his studies, becoming a simple accountant, a boring and stale job, but perhaps the one he was meant for. This is where he belonged, consigned to the obscurity and mundanely of a job. Yet even within himself, a part of him still wished to shatter this cycle of labor and deprecation, to forge true purpose.

  Keen observer and introspective, Mikkel never truly lost his quiet demeanor from his early years. Mikkel's resistance to forming deeper connections beyond the bare minimum is palpable, however, seeing as he's always wearing a serious face, dedicating his entire being and attention to the objective at hand and nothing else. His choices and experiences in life have led him to be quite the proactive and practical individual, sharing a sense of responsibility for everyone around him, their lives and deaths, even if there is absolutely no reason for him to do so. Perhaps his carefully hidden lack of self-confidence and identity has created a deep-rooted belief that he needs to constantly prove his worth.   Mikkel has led a life that would never truly evoke anyone's pity. If anything, he has been quite fortunate.
  
  Amongst the rugged coastlines and towering cliffs of Norway, there once lived two brothers.
  
  One of them had a brilliant mind, but was quiet and lacked courage and confidence. The other was a curious spirit, treating nature itself as his personal playground. He shared this love for the world with his brother, hoping to break him out of his shell, so that his fears wouldn't ever deter his bright future.
  
  Even after his brother was gone, amidst the grief and utterly broken home life, Mikkel would still vividly remember the hopes he had for him, and the dreams he had shared. He could never take his place; but he would take it upon himself to share his brother's vision for the entire world to see, in his own way. Thus, he had found his purpose in life. One day, after what felt like years of hopelessness and regression, Mikkel stepped out of his room and pursued a degree in geology. His academic journey led him to the University of Toronto, being one of the few dozens accepted in the annual international scholarship competition. He packed his bags and never looked back, as if fearing whatever he left behind would engulf him once again.
  
  A decade went by. During this time, back home, there was a new addition to the family. Many messages and calls were left unanswered, before eventually fizzling out into complete silence. Instead, Mikkel fully immersed himself in his studies, thriving both in the academic circle and as a professional in his field. Jumping at the first opportunities, not even having yet acquired a proper degree, his name would already appear once in a while published alongside senior researchers and professors, before slowly transitioning into conference papers, and after many painstaking years, being promoted to the top of the list as the primary author, gaining recognition within the scientific community. He traveled from the jagged, rocky terrains of remote mountain ranges to the icy expanses of glaciers and even the Arctic Pole, camping in the wild, enduring harsh weather, climbing ice structures, collecting samples, and mapping formations; trying to graduate from a mere student to a scientist, spending weeks and sometimes even months in the field, getting used to what it meant to pursue nature itself—animal attacks, drownings, falls, or rumored, more unsavory secrets. Some of them would never make it back. From students to faculty members and professionals, neither youth nor experience guaranteed safety.
  
  Not once did Mikkel give himself enough downtime for his mind to linger on other matters. As of late, however, life has always presented him with opportunities to return to his homeland. And only then did Mikkel truly stop to remember his parents, who seemed to have long moved on from him, from them, for no other fault than his; the little sister whose existence he had hoped to never acknowledge, and whose face he had only seen through scarce pictures, many years ago; how exhausting it all was, throwing himself into work while rushing to finish his PhD, despite being surrounded by multiple people all day for weeks on end, people that younger generations would grow up to look up to.
  
  Maybe it was time to go back, even if just for a little bit.
  
  That is, if nothing went wrong.

  Aware of Mikkel's origins and prior field trips in harsh environments, a research team in England reached out, in need of a geologist and guide for an expedition to study the impact of climate change on the Norwegian glaciers. A formal meeting in London had been set for the day after his flight.

  Personality: A textbook example of "book smart" being wildly different than "street smart," Farah is most certainly the former. She is reasonably informed academically, while on the other hand completely fails at interpersonal communication. She fails to pick up on many non-literal phrases and concepts that most would consider universal, or even "common sense." She shows no interest, nor ability, in changing this aspect of herself, and as such has been antagonized on-and-off throughout her life for being so literal, straight-laced, or unaccommodating.
  
  Despite this, Farah actively makes her own attempt to be personable, which often presents as being factual, correcting people or even offering advice, even when not prompted to do so. Her reason? That's exactly what she would want others to do for her. After all, being wrong is, well, wrong.
  
  Apart from this, Farah is passionate about her interests, often willing to showcase and even teach anyone who's interested. Unfortunately, she's not a very good impromptu teacher; instead excelling at forming structured lesson plans and routines as a path to success, and this trait follows suit in all other aspects of her life. As such, she received high quality training, exercise, and even nutritional coaches. By the time she turned 18, she was well equipped to enter the amateur scene. Finding great success early on, this only fueled her determination to continue on the path she'd laid out for herself.

They were supposed to have a little vacation when Janna was delivered by a stork in the hospital room. At least that’s what they always told her as a kid, not that she believed it. In any case, she grew up in a middle-class suburban family that lost any inheritance they were supposed to have due to some legal issues with other family members.
  
  It’s why she had to take a huge loan for her college because at some point they couldn’t afford the utility bill all the while paying for expensive tuition in a Medical School. She also couldn’t get in through a sports scholarship because of an accident that rendered her unable to walk properly for some time, it’s all healed now of course. Now she works for a Pharmaceutical Company doing boring office work for the R&D Department.

  Sara was at least bright enough to understand that she couldn't build an internet-famous career through this. So she waited. Worked her way to through high school until graduation. She was 18 now! Two years since the incident, and that whole challenge was a thing of the past. Redoing her image and investing her college money on a streamer setup, she launched her channel of SparkleShark!
  
  It did not pop off.
  
  Strange. She clearly had a knack for this viral thing back then. What was different now? The answer was obvious, really. Sara needed to hop on the latest trends! Put herself out there and give her all into the future of content creation! This thing called the SWATTING challenge looked fun!
  
  So Sara called the police on herself and started a livestream of just gaming. To the surprise of her six viewers, the SWAT burst through the door and apprehended the young girl! While pinned to the ground, she watched in excitement as her view count rose exponentially!
  
  Sure enough, she was viral again. Somehow, a narrative started that some angry viewer was responsible, and she earned thousands of empathetic followers. Who was she to clear things up? Sara used this to launch her influencer career. She took on the persona of a ditzy gamer girl, always making sure to show some skin for the viewers. Soon, at only 19 years old, she had gained over 20 million followers on TakTak!

  Reserved but earnest Billie is just the girl next door. Quick to make small talk to prevent awkward silences but not one to rock the boat. She has more friends online than in real life since online Billie can take her time to respond. Billie is fine with that since she would rather be on the edge of attention than in the center of it, so just hanging out in a semi-busy chatroom suits her perfectly.
  
  Modesty and blandness disguised as a grounded nature makes Billie approachable but be careful asking for advice because at her core, she is a fool and more likely to choose what you would want to hear rather than the blunt truth. The evils of the world may never sleep but Billie does so she won’t stay up past her bedtime to help out.
  
  When Billie feels close enough to someone her troublesome side comes out revealing her to be a worrywart and sulky. Luckily, she is prone to self-reflection so Billie won’t spiral too far to the point it causes trouble that can’t be smoothed over.

  Backstory:
  Billie's life so far can be summed up as a plain jane with worries about how plain she is that she handles in a boring way which means Billie’s life has been pretty uneventful. If her household was a food, it would be white bread. No fear of not having food on the table, no messy parental fights, and no threat of losing the house she lived in. Comfortably middle class for they were able to easily accommodate Billie’s disorders. The most exciting thing in her life was attending nerdy conventions with her father.
  
  Billie grew up well loved and well adjusted as her family navigated getting her diagnoses and finding treatment options that worked for her. She also found herself as part of a longitudinal sleep study as a result of her being at the hospital a lot anyways. Not to brag about it but she does have a very active REM sleep cycle you know.
  
  Oh, there was also that time she was trampled in the mall as part of a black Friday sale but she fully recovered so that might not count. They didn’t even use her photo on the news or give her the limited edition Furby someone snatched from her. Truly sad times.
  
  It did result in Billie being held back a year in school which started her alienation with her peers. While most knew of her struggles already it was the fact she was held back and thus older than them that caused the rift. Some made fun of her for being held back and some treated her as some wise upperclassmen. Her old classmates had found new friends and moved on with their lives for the most part in the year she missed. It was around then when Billie started to focus more on her creative hobbies like writing and sewing. Fully giving herself into her fantastical dreams even though they made as little sense to her as the real world did in her teen years, she slowly detached from those she was close with.
  
  These same hobbies ended up reconnecting her to the real world at the insistence of her therapist. Billie spent her time working on commissions to make crafts for the local cosplay community or updated her fanfic for her 3 followers, it says 5 but two of them are just her alt accounts.Thus she decided to take it slow to focus on her health before starting her apprenticeship with a jeweler her family knew. Someday she would be the owner of one of those little trendy fashion mall shops and maybe she would be cool enough to wear roller skates during store hours. So when Billie’s doctors reached out to her about a sleep study overseas she might as well accept the free plane tickets since her return trip could fly her near the con she wanted to attend afterwards.

  It wasn't fancy, he wasn't make plenty of money but he enjoyed what he had tracking down strange books and pulling them apart to see what they meant. So he kept up with that over the years as he grew older. He spent less and less time manning his library and more time searching for strange books which is when he heard of something quite weird. It was a promise on the origins of humanity and supposedly a true look at how humans came to be. Well with such a tantalizing secret like that he couldn't just let that fall into somebody else's hands. So he boarded a plan and headed to the auction site, ready to see just what this book was all about.

Shw seldom wears accessories, but she has a body harness around her chest, and complements her outfit by draping a gray coat over her shoulders. Her black hair flows down to her shoulder blades. While Yufan doesn't frequently fuss over her hairstyle, she always ensures it appears professional enough in a medical environment. When she's off the clock, she lets it fall freely, allowing her bangs to gently frame her face.
  
  Her hands are delicate and well-defined, taking great pride in their appearance. She sticks to a daily regimen to maintain the aesthetic appeal of her hands. Despite being a stickler for self care and healthy habits, Yufan often carries the scent of cigarette smoke.

  PERSONALITY

  Outwardly, Yufan has a stern and calm demeanor, taking her job quite seriously. After all, she does literally hold some people's lives in her hands. Yet, she's often spiteful, masking it with smiles and quietude while she schemes behind the scenes. In her opinion, spite is a powerful motivator. Deep down, Yufan is shown to be cunning, charming, and manipulative. Perks of keeping her head down and studying silently for most of her life allowed her to deceive others; figuring out what they hate, what they like, what they fear, and more. Thus allowing herself to mold her personality to appeal to certain people and get her way. She uses her exceptional track record to her advantage. Both school and work have painted her in a good light. After all, why would a self-respecting doctor do anything bad!
  
  Despite that, Yufan is willing to give health advice and help people out, nor is she incapable of feeling empathy or guilt. She is a doctor, after all. Although, she's terrible at following her own advice, often staying up due to work, or filling out paperwork. She has a tendency to drink wine late at night, stating it keeps her up. Who needs coffee or energy drinks when you have cheap wine! Moreover, she tends to destress by playing certain MOBAs, playing “toxic” characters and going AFK at the worst times to grab wine. Although, Yufan excuses this by stating she's good at the game.
  
  Yufan often has a self-righteous attitude, claiming that whatever she does is correct and morally superior to others. Part of this can be seen when she plays her little video games, but most of this stemmed from donning a good girl persona for most of her life. While she will take this secret to her grave, Yufan is adamant on the fact she didn't do anything wrong in medical school. In her opinion, patients would be better off under her own care rather than others. Perhaps it is a twisted hero complex, but that one patient in medical school was just a necessary sacrifice in Yufan’s eyes.

  BACKSTORY

  Yufan had an uneventful childhood for the most part. She had immigrated to Toronto, Canada at a young age, living with her family. While she didn't understand it much, she was given a western name: Yvonne. Yufan wasn't a hard name to pronounce, at least according to Yufan herself, but she couldn't say the same for elementary teachers, friends or other parents. It was weird, but she didn’t think of it much. Her parents told her not to.
  
  There was a slight issue in middle school—another girl that was in the same grade as Yufan. Initially they were friends, hitting it off well due to being into similar hobbies. However, various teachers and even her own parents told Yufan to not get involved. This other girl was a troubled delinquent in their eyes. Yufan didn't understand. The girl was nice to her. But that never lasted. The grades soon caused a rift between Yufan and her friends; resulting in Yufan being ostracized for being “too nerdy” or being “too good for them”. Yet again, Yufan didn't think too much about it. Her parents told her it was for the better, that she could focus on her studies.
  
  Yufan doesn't know what happened to her friends, well, former friends. She just hoped that they're doing fine, even if they didn't like her.
  
  Around high-school was when she began thinking for herself for once. She met another girl; one who was into photography and sports, one who actually talked some sense into Yufan. Yufan was doing all of this; getting good grades, keeping a good reputation, having a good everything. Only because her family wanted her to. Did she ever think about what she had wanted? Call it hanging with the wrong crowd, or typical teenage rebellion, but Yufan began acting out. Her grades were the same of course, she couldn't let that go. That was the only thing she knew, after all. But it wasn't a good look for a smart girl to hang out with a bunch of jocks who goofed around. But Yufan didn't care, she was having fun.
  
  Maybe it was a good thing to be influenced by this goofball of a jock. She was Yufan’s first friend, after all.
  
  And she was Yufan's only friend. The only friend she kept in contact with.
  
  Still, despite her rebellious phase, she still found herself in medical school, on the road to being a surgeon. For the most part, she kept her head down and focused on getting her work done; her immense focus on academic excellence left her quite isolated, until she had met her former friend from elementary school. What a small world this was. Yufan acted cordially, but kept the woman at a distance, not wanting a repeat of her younger years. Not because she was upset, but because she didn't care enough. But somehow, they managed to stay on good terms, until Yufan felt that her friend could be a tad expendable.
  
  See, with such a reserved childhood, Yufan was used to getting her way. Childish innocence could only get her so far. Yufan made a horrible mistake one day, an operation went wrong and the patient passed away. The blood was technically on Yufan’s hands but she called out for her friend, asking for help. Up until higher-ups arrived to investigate, that is. After all, who would they trust? Yufan—who was dedicated to her studies—or a girl who partied around? Without missing her chance, Yufan wasted no time on shifting the blame onto her friend, accusing her of negligence.
  
  After further investigation, the friend was expelled. Yufan quickly moved on, indifferent to throwing her so-called friend under the bus. Yufan didn't get caught and she was still in medical school. It was strangely thrilling. Moreover, rather than reaching out to apologize, Yufan moved on with her life, graduating medical school exceptionally and landing a respectable job as a surgeon.
  
  ...She does fear getting caught and having all of that tear her away from her current job, but as long as she keeps her head down, she should be fine. But for now, she's focusing on work. After all, she has to support her two cats somehow.
