Flipperdoo2003 - Mobius

Jade sighed as she leaned against the side of a building near to the Mellark Bakery.I'm going to attempt this during the day...the hunger is making me lose my mind, she thought as she peaked around the side and looked at the building that housed the bakery.Something was fresh, because the smells wafted all the way to her nose.It caused her stomach to growl even more fiercely than before. She hadn't had a successful swipe in a few days and it was getting to her. When somebody walked out with a bag obviously filled with something tasty, she began to run through her plan again.I'm just going to walk in,nonchalantly take something, and run like heck once I'm out...should work. With that all straightened out,she started to walk towards the bakery, head down so nobody would notice her.Or,she hoped nobody would notice her face.It was becoming a common sight in certain areas, but she wasn't sure if anybody would care to remember it.As long as she wasn't stealing from them, she felt like she wouldn't care.It wasn't like there was an award out for her arrest,so what would they get from taking a starved girl who lost her family in a freak accident that never should have happened?Nothing if they thought like she did.

When she got to the porch of the bakery,Jade's heart began to pound. If she messed up,she would be in the hands of the Peacekeepers for sure.Just where she wanted to be.Starving on the street was better than being ended by some guy in a white suit that looked like he was from space. The strong aromas greeted her as she entered the place and she found her eyes gawking at the delicious treats in a case to her left, the main case apparently. To her delight, there were a few fresh loaves of bread, easy to snatch and carry, sitting on top of the counter.Only a few people were there and she had a clean shot at them. She didn't waste time and, after walking over to where they were and acting like she was interested in something in the case, she grabbed a loaf and spun on her heels. The witch of a woman that helped run the place let out an angry scream, which made Jade jump off of the porch, landing ahead of the steps by a good amount of ground."Thanks for the bread!" She yelled before she hurried down the street as fast as she could possibly go.

Peeta stopped his mother from chasing the young girl. "Mother, It's fine. We've got more than enough..." Peeta said, getting out another roll of dough to make another bread. He started thinking about the girl, she looked so hot. All of these other girls in the district followed the rules, but Peeta liked a girl that's bad. Peeta soon made the form of a loaf, and put it in the bread oven. "Momma, I'm going for a walk." He shouted, not expecting a reply. Peeta took off his floury apron and walked out side.

Jade stopped for breath after she was sure she had ran the most confusing path she possibly could through the alleyways of District 12's merchant section. If she hadn't confused whoever was chansing her,if anybody, she at least gave them a run for their money. She was in an alley that was decent in size.It could've been considered a path for people if it wasn't a dead end. There wasn't much in it,just a few dumpsters and a door with a few steps that she hoped wouldn't open up any time soon. She could hide near the dumpster if she wanted, but she was pretty sure somebody would have found her by now if they were looking.

Once Jade's breath returned to her,the warmth of the bread brought a nice realization to her mind.Something good to eat was actually in her hands...and was warming them up pretty good,too."Mmm..." She hummed as she licked her lips and broke off a piece, the crust making a nice crunching sound that was like music to her ears. The taste of the bread was even better than the sound and her stomach eagerly grumbled for more.People aren't kidding when they race about those people's goods, she thought as she sat down against a wall and crossed her legs in a pretzel formation, munching on another piece of the bread.

Peeta knows the District like the back o his hand. He could draw out a map for it if you asked. So, Soon he found the girl in an alley. "Hello..." He smirked, throwing another smaller loaf to her, landing perfectly on her lap. "I'm Peeta..." He said, taking out his arm.

Jade was perfectly happy alone in her alley, chowing down on the prize of her endeavor.Nobody was bothering her and she could be at peace.Until a blond haired person,a rather popular person who happened to win the most recent Hunger Games, entered the alleyway. When the bread landed perfectly on her lap,she stained at it for a moment, suspicions arising in her head. This could be a trap.

Jade fixed her green eyes on the subject in from of her.Her instincts told her that the alarms should be blaring right about then."Eveybody knows who you are," she said as asually as she could manage as she stood up ,taking both loaves and situating them under her arm,all while keeping her eyes on Peeta."And I'm no sucker," she added in a more serious, almost warning tone to show him she wouldn't fall for anything.

"I don't want anything. Just some company, really..." He laughed, taking out his own small bread and took a bite out of it. "Being stuck in the bakery ever since the Hunger Games..." He muttered, not really wanting to talk about it. "So, Who are you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

(I'm going to sleep after this reply.)

Jade narrowed her eyes at him,not sure if he was being truthful or not.If he was, then she would just deal with him being there, but if he wasn't...she was done for.Even if the alley was large like it was,if he had went to the Peacekeepers before coming here, there would be no chance of string away since they would manage to block the exit to the alley.I just have to ride it out, she thought. She definitely wasn't a fan of it,though. It put her on edge.

At Peeta's question,Jade thought about it for a minute. Was it safe to tell him her name?It could and it couldn't be.Although, her first name could match other people in the District,so she had that on her side."Jade," she answered hesitantly as she watched him. After a moment, she found it safe enough to continue eating the bread she had already done a good work on.She broke off a piece and sunk her teeth into it,sighing in contentment.
