"Sing me a song, of a lass that is gone. Say, could that lass, be I?"
Here is a clusterfuck of things loosely related by the idea of magic, or fantastical creatures, being prominent in the stories. Other than that, they really have no connections to each other, and I'm not sure how else to introduce it. There are pirates, sirens, magical weapons, knights, world and dimension crossing...all sorts of things!
So please, take a look at what I have to offer!
1. Don't God-Mod. In other words, don't make my character speak, don't make my character, don't make my character take damage, and don't control my character. If you want something to go a certain way for plot purposes, just PM me and ask. Usually, I accept "god-modding" during travel and the like. It is usually acceptable to assume movement if a character is already committed to the journey.
2. Please be able to play both genders, and play multiple roles. Your main character(s) may be just male or just female, but I expect all the side characters and NPCs to have life and flavor, too.
3. On the note of characters: I will always play one female character. So, be aware of that. With that said, I usually also always play one male character, and I do MxM, MxF, and FxF pairings, though I prefer MxF.
4. 4. I only RP on threads, (or GDocs in rare cases), so no PM, kik, discord, e-mail, or other rps with me. So that I know you’ve read the rules this far, please tell me about your favorite food!
5. Please be able to write more than a couple of sentences as responses to me. I have tried to do “simple” RPs, but I end up not feeling motivated to respond or continue the RP. I will need you to be able to write a paragraph or two, each post, at least.
6. PM if you are interested. The only reason for you not to PM me is if you cannot do so due to the fact you haven't reached 24 hours/10 posts.
Guidelines:
1. I do not like to be hassled for posts. Especially if I have already posted that day or the day before. Do not bother me for posts until at least two days have passed. Otherwise, I will start to resent our RP and lose interest in it.
2. I enjoy OOC talk, however I will not respond to "hi" or "-poke-" or equivalents. Have substance to the chatter, even if it just asking "How are you?".
3. Do not bump our thread if I have not posted. I will not post out of spite. I have a problem with this, I acknowledge it, I'm not fixing it.
4. On that matter, please keep OOC to PMs and not on our IC thread. IC is for posting. If you have a question, concern, or comment, just shoot me a PM.
5. In general, I do not enjoy immediate romances or "slice-of-life" RPs, so do not come to me expecting I'll do either. I may make rare exceptions.
Pirates and Treasure. High-sea adventures. Trickery and thievery. Pirates of the Caribbean-esque.
I have been a fan of sirens as creatures for ages, and I am also a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, so I would love to do a plot with elements of these things in it - that is, pirates, mythical items, traveling, and sirens - and perhaps a host of other mythical creatures, set in a world where they aren't common place. I don't mind if we do this on an AU Earth, or another planet.
I have some loose ideas of either using Greek Mythology and the rivers associated with them as passage to the Underworld, or Arthurian mythology and similar ideas, and somehow the Dead are escaping and need to be put back. That, or of our own magical item(s) that could be causing chaos, or could be sought after, by pirates and "officials" alike.
A siren could serve as an obstacle, or it could even be the goal - there are myths of mermaids providing immortality if their flesh is eaten, or someone could just want a siren as something to marry, or something to show-off, as they would an exotic animal. However one gets involved is up for discussion if we do have one - but if the plot won't call for it, I have plenty of ideas for pirates and thieves and officials as well!
A kingdom has fallen under the sway of a religion that has strange views on magic. In general, it believes that magic is only given to others by either the Divine Good, or the Evil - and you can't tell by type. No, you can only tell by who the practitioner themselves chooses to follow, the Church, or not. So, of course, most do choose to follow the Church, entering into their military, healing, or other Orders, to avoid persecution. Yet, there are always the outsiders, and those who believe that Magic is genetic, rather than given by higher powers - especially since it tends to run in families.
There is one knight of the Church's order who is known far and wide. He rarely uses the magic he was born with, and he won't touch any enchanted sword. He was sent to investigate a plague that seems to be spreading, poisoning the lands, and find from where it stems. Whether or not he found it is unclear...it is believed that he died, though the truth is far different. One of his companions returned, and reported he had died, but it isn't so. The Knight saw the source of the corruption, and turned, taking up an enchanted weapon against all his own morals, against his own belief that none should trust any magic outside of themselves.
The knight's sister intends to pick up where he left off, and will be going with companions. Perhaps the one who knows the truth. Perhaps others...and who knows who they will meet on the way...and what they may even uncover about magic, and the Church itself.
They hated each other from the start. Perhaps they were once friends, and one betrayed the other. Perhaps there was a love involved. Whatever the case, they hate each other. And now, they can’t escape each other. They are their own personal hell, following each other through their lives as they are reborn. Sometimes, perhaps, one or the other remembers. Sometimes, they both remember. Perhaps other times, neither remembers – they just have this “bad feeling” about the other.
Whatever the case, they are always reincarnating in the same life time, and always meeting.
Can they stop this cycle of reincarnation? Can they learn not to hate each other, or will this powerful emotion keep driving them to follow each other, and ruin their lives?
I’d love to do this with historical figures (especially Romans), like Markus Antonius and Gaius Octavius, Cicero and Catalina, Pompey and Caesar, but I am open to others as well, or even just using totally OC souls and building up the start of the hatred that would then take them through many other lives.
I’d also enjoy them reincarnating in different genders. Perhaps their first life was a male, and so was their second, but then their third is female, and so on, perhaps with a couple of traits always sticking (like for Octavius, I could see asthma sticking around). I would also enjoy them periodically remembering their former lives, and then not remembering them, and not always have both remember – just to add to the problems. I’d like to take it up to modern times at least, and build on an “overarching” plot – I’m just not sure what that would be. We’d have to discuss it.
This could also take place in a fantasy setting, with a curse in play or something – a villain and a hero follow each other through lives or something, haha.
Based on the idea that people fall out of love – what if soul mates who kept reincarnating to be with each other, fell out of love? One, or both of them, could have had a chance meeting with someone else that showed them that, perhaps, there is another life, another choice, that they could lead. I think this would work best if both of the soul mates had some “idea” that they were destined for someone/something, but then are presented with a second option.
I’m fine with this being historical figures as well, OCs, or in a fantasy setting (not Earth), but I think it would be an interesting concept to play with – especially if one was still madly in love with the other, or something like that.
This can be combined with “Hate Mates”, too, since we can make this a huge reincarnation issue for a larger plot, or it can be on its own.
I really kind of just want to do some stories throughout time with the same character(s). What’s the best way to do that? Involve some long-lived creatures, like vampires or demons, or what-have-you, and put them in the same places periodically, and follow their shenanigans. I don’t have a set plot for this, and we can add new characters to the plot as well – could even have one of them be reincarnated and that be how they all come together at different points in time (“Oh hey, so-and-so is back, in Florence, let’s go kick it with them for a bit”).
Obviously we’ll need a larger plot to foreshadow to, but playing through time with long-lived creatures, developing hate, love, and rivalry across the span of time, sounds like a good time to me.
The general idea is that at a convention, a group of cosplayers go to something called "Cosplay Combat" (I did this at my most recent convention, so the idea stems from that). It all seems to be gonig normally at first, until a combatant uses an ability they shouldn't have in reality...and it happens. Perhaps a Harry Potter character uses Crucio, and it works. Or, someone with a foam sword suddenly has a very, very real sword...and even if it is a ridiculously large sword, they can wield it.
This can allow for both "Created" Fandoms, or Real Fandoms, so there can be a bit of a "crossover" feel, but the gist of it is that those in Cosplay take on some of the skills of the one they have cosplayed.
Naturally, this stirs a bit of a panic and intrigue, and some probably think they're drunk - until they step out the doors of the Cosplay Combat room and find themselves in a Mirrored/Ruined Hotel. Somehow (the stars aligned, something - we can talk) they've been transported into a parallel reality, and what they look like is what they "are"...sort of.
So now they have to figure out how to get back, but of course, it won't be that easy. Plots and villain to be discussed, of course!
Humans cross over into a new world through dimensional rifts.
There is a land in a plane parallel to Earth, from which we get many of our ideas about strange creatures we do not find here, like dragons and vampires. It is a world that has been "touched" by our world, and it has touched ours. This interaction is not fully understood, or even known of, by those of this world and those of Earth.
But we still imagine the things that exist in Hyksis, the other dimension, as Hyksis imagines the things that are in our world. Airships came from a dream in the same way our mind imagined lighted houses. The two worlds have gone about creating these things in vastly different fashions, but they have still been inspired by each other. Perhaps most obviously, on Earth, we've imagined the creatures that roam on that other world--the vampire, the centaur, and the siren, among others. We've imagined magic, like they have it.
The barrier between these dimensions is faltering, however. It is a one-way falter, though; those of earth are falling into this other world. A disturbance has occurred there, as a force is trying to bring the two worlds together for a malevolent purpose.
It’s an MMORPG that’s finally deciding to test Virtual Reality simulation! There are a group of you that have been selected to be the testers for this equipment, and you get a ticket to go to the headquarters of the company, where you get suited up with the rest to try out the simulation!
Except, as soon as you enter, you can’t leave. You become the character you designed, and a message flashes from the video game creators apologizing for this, and explaining that there is a mission you all have to fulfill before you can be released from the game. They tell you of the mission, of course, but it’s up to you and your group as to whether or not you accept it, or if you try to gather some more information as to why – and more importantly, how – this has happened.
Perhaps, you won’t even want to return.
Obviously there should be some shenanigans at play here as to why the creators of a video game need people to complete a mission in a game. I’m imagining a highly fantasy-based game, so I’m figuring we could have some actual magic involved as to how the characters get transported into the game. I’m up for discussing the mission, and the consequences of completing it.
It’s Halloween, and it’s time to play everyone’s favorite game: Mirrored. To play the game, you go in front of a full-length mirror, and with all the lights out, you say the phrase: “Mirror, show me my true self.” If it works, supposedly, you will then see an image of your future.
The problem is that when you play it in costume, the Mirror gets a bit…confused.
Suffice to say, a few people who play this game across the world end up seeing an interesting future indeed…a dark room, in an abandoned building, and their costume all the more…real. When they turn around, they’re in that Mirrored reality, with the others, and they now have to find out what’s going on, and how to get back. What they have dressed up as will impact their powers in this world – whatever this world is.
I’m definitely imagining something of a medieval wasteland, but it could contain a lot more than that – perhaps the wastes of a space station, but overall, the feeling of a ruined and destroyed place, that could be out of a nightmare. There will be people here and monsters, too, and a villain who’s goal is to cross over to the Earth that we know…and the Mirrored game is the beginning of that villain’s plot.
