The 55 seater was the newest thing in passenger jets, capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 2.2. It departed London returning to the US at JFK on Jul 25, 2025 at 1330 UTC. It landed at Idlewild on Jul 25, 1948 a little after noon, less than a month after its opening. Idlewild would be renamed JFK in years to come. The ATC wanted to divert the aircraft to LaGuardia, but the runways were too short to accommodate the supersonic jet.
The landing resulted in the closure of the airfield and a military quarantine. The Second Red Scare had begun; the Cold War was in full swing. And jets were virtually unheard of outside of military circles.

The seats were all business class, no economy class. Anyone without the wealth for such a flight should have a good reason for being onboard and their fares covered by others. (I’ll work with any good reason, especially if it helps the story.)
No characters with names that are suggestive of communist ties - or ties to the Axis nations from WWII. Those would certainly be detained indefinitely. Of course, if the whole group likes the idea, we can work something out. But it would almost certainly put you at odds with the Feds. Life is going to be tough enough.
The late 1940’s will NOT be tolerant of women who don’t know “their place.”
This will NOT be an LGTBQ friendly setting. Not a personal thing, but in those days such lifestyles were literally treated as either illegal or illnesses. Look at the life of Turing, the British mathematician who cracked Enigma.
In addition to passengers and crew of Flight 693, I will need some NPC’s from 1948. Military, medical, scientific, intelligence. Eventually spies will enter the picture.
Plot
Initially the plot will be one of quarantine and interrogations. The whole matter will be classified. The passengers will be isolated at some sort of Area 51 facility. The jet will be dismantled and shipped out under military guard.
I am going to open the plot up to group direction very early on. I DO plan to have a Discord handle OOC discussions.
