Carter was working on a sketch in the middle of campus yard, he wasn't paying attention to what was around him. He just had gotten this idea of a jacket to add to this dress he had been working on. Danny needed some new clothes to sell, and this was one of the sketches he was gonna give her. He hoped she would like it but knew she would. Not to be too cocky but he prided himself on how good he was at his job. Which was really good. He was listening to music as he sketched, not noticing a redheaded girl walking pass, cause if he did. His heart would have stopped.

Walking along the familiar grounds of campus she was dragging her boots on the ground. Kicking at the gravel as she heard it clicking against the cobble-stoned path as she hummed to the rock tune playing from her earphones. It seemed that everyone she knew was busy with a lecture or a club... she was finally having some time alone.

Motioning towards a bench not far off from the male that was sketching she took out her own ink pad and sketchbook to evaluate one of her tattoo designs that she was debating on getting. It was a thing she loved doing. Sketching and inking her own tattoos on canvas before. She started lip syncing to her song as she brushed a strand of her fiery red hair behind her ear before uncapping her ball-point cap.

Carter was just finishing one of the sleeves of the jacket when he heard someone sit by him. First, he didn't pay any attention to them, cause he probably didn't know them or they would have come up to him and started talking. So as he finished his design, he heard someone humming and looked up to see no one. He looked down again but the humming started again. He groaned and looked around seeing the girl there. She looked familiar but he couldn't quite place it.

Anyhow, she was kinda disturbing him so he wrote her a note intending to nicely ask her to stop humming as it was bothering him a bit. He wrote 'Sorry to be disturbing you but your humming is distracting and I'm trying to work on this right now. Could you please stop humming just until I've finished this? PS. Your voice is very nice. It's distracting cause I wanna listen to it.' He then gave her the note without looking at her and walked away.

As she was about to proceed onto her shading she saw a piece of paper slide from the corner of her eyes. It was from a person. A person that frankly, she did not quite intended on conversing with as he seemed to have been doing his own thing. She lowered her ball-point pen and gave the note a quick read as her dark red-lip formed a straight line in confusion. Meg wasn't quite sure if that was an offence... or a compliment to begin with. Turning herself a bit to face the guy herself instead of some piece of paper she noticed that he had already departed from his spot. She didn't even look at the guy in the first place.

Standing up she called from behind him, "Hey you! The least you can do is have the balls to tell me to my face you know?"she stated very simply to the guy that just walked away... sort of. The only reason she approached him about it was because he didn't tell her to her face. She would have much appreciated that rather than some pesky little note. She was more of the confronting type.

r e i r e i

Carter turned around at the sound of the girl and looked down. He didn't know how to convey to her that he was a mute. Even if he had wanted to speak his concern, he couldn't. As he was thinking, he ran his fingers through his hair. Showing the girl a bit of his face. He then took out a piece of paper intending to write that he was mute.

He looked up thinking that he should look up and see the face of the girl who was yelling at her. He froze as soon as he saw her. Megan. It was Megan. The girl would made him feel like he was no different then everyone else as a young kid. Carter couldn't move, as he stared at her. Taking in the girl who he has been in love with since he was kid.
revalia revalia

The certain approach that he was giving her was not something she was accustomed to but at the same time she was. The minute she read the little piece of paper saying 'I'm mute...' she paused for a bit. However how could she have know that he was ... after all she never quite spoke to this person before nor did she even take notice of the gossiping train around school. She was never on-board with that train and never will.

Looking up and away from the piece of paper, her light grey eyes examined the male's partial side features. She could see only one side of a chiseled jaw, part of his nose and a blue tinged iris looking towards her direction. At that point the gaze gave a familiar vibe... It took her way back when she was just a little kid running around the orphanage.

Megan had a mute friend once. He was her best friend. Then she never saw sight of him again once they had went their separate ways. It saddened Megan. He was the only person she could trust after Harlow had ran away from the orphanage. A small smile appeared on her dark maroon tinged lip whenever she thought of him. She tried to not show it but it was inevitable or so to speak. He was a guy... they are all the same... except this one. Yet somehow she was in a relationship that she was enjoying. Or so to speak.

She misses her old best friend.

Her hardened expression towards the mute softened a bit and simply nodded at the fact he that he is a mute. She sighed, "I do apologize, I did not know you were a mute." Apologizing was not something that Megan did but in the memories of her friend, she did so. She knew how it felt to be treated differently, she remembered her friend's stories and saw how he was treated at a young age. "If you want feel free to sit here again. I'll try to keep my mouth shut."

That was her best offer.

Carter just laughed softly to himself. She didn't recognized him. Of course she didn't. It's been a long time since they had seen to each other. Last time they last saw each other, he was just a boy. Now that he's grown into a man, she's doesn't know who the fuck he is. But he remembers her, surely for the fact that she was the girl he fell in love with all those years ago. Like he would forget her. Who could forget those eyes and that hair. Not him for sure.

He remembers when they first met. He was a sick kid who never talked, he wasn't mute. Not yet. He was just quiet. People just didn't care to wait to hear him but one girl did. She came right up to him and talked to him. Even with his oxygen tank right beside. She sat down and talked to him. That meant more to him then anything would. They grew to be friends, and then best friends. They were close, and he was the only male that she trusted.

She was the only girl that he loved.

When he had to go, they were heartbroken. But he was well, and it was time for him to go find a family. Which he did, regrettably. Carter had talked to her for the first time since they had met. He had said one sentence that he was sure that she would never forget. As it was a promise, between two people who had torn apart by time and others. As she spoked, he started to write on his notepad. When she finished, he simply handed the notepad to her. With the one sentence that he knows she remembers.

I will see you again, Meggie.
revalia revalia

As he let out a chuckle she frowned and tilted her head to the side in confusion. She was about to shrug it off and simply sit but then another piece of paper came her way, a notepad or so to speak. She was going to end up in a pile of scrunched up pieces of paper by the end of this conversation.

With a sigh she pursed her lips together she unrolled it and her lips read, 'I will see you again Meggie.' She let out a soft gasp as she let go of the note pad as it drifted down by her leathered boots. Only one person ever said that to her. That being said... only one person had called her Meggie and lived to see another day. It was him.

"Wait... C-Carter?" she said, her voice a little shaky. More with happiness more than anything. She took a few steps forwards hoping for a clear view of his face and not just the mere left side of it.

r e i r e i

Carter smiled as he heard his name from her lips once again. He closed his eyes to hold back the tears that are were threatening to come out. He saw her walked towards him. He lifted up his face, and stared at her. Smiling a smile that had always been for her only. He lifted his hand to her face. Softly caressing it, remembering a girl much younger then the girl in front now.

You would think that the feelings he had for her, would have disappeared and gone away as the years went on. They didn't. They got stronger, and more solid. There had been others, others who could have taken his heart and ran with it and kept it safe but.....no one gave him the feeling. Meggie did. No one. There was no one else, no one else but her. Carter has been hers, since they met that faithful day and he wouldn't have it any other way.

He stared at her, knowing all too well that his heart was fucked. That he was fucked. That there was no way in hell, he was gonna leave her again. No way in hell would he ever let that happen again. He would fight tooth and nail, to keep them together. Cause it would kill him to leave her for a second time. So much that he wouldn't recover.
revalia revalia

She froze. A few steps was all she managed before she came face to face with him. The thing about Megan was she was not a huge believer when it came to love in general. Be it between friends or be it in a loving relationship. She herself was in a relationship, which to her surprise lasted for two years running now. That relationship had changed her definitions and tossed her brain into a salad trying to grasp the gist of her feelings. She couldn't say that James ever mistreated her. Even if he did have a reputation for such a thing.

Just as Megan thought the complications of understanding her feelings and settled with James... this had to happen. A person re-appearing from her past. A person that had personally effected how she viewed things and even the way she reacted.

Carter was that one person who understood her twisted self. Her liking and hobbies. He accepted her for who she was just as she did with him. She didn't simply see him as a scrawny little boy running around with an oxygen tank to be picked on. No. She saw a friend... a best friend. A best friend that always made her question her emotions. A lot.

As she felt a sudden touch against the soft skin of her cheek she closed her eyes briefly. In taking the feeling as it ran down through her body like a pulse. How she missed it. She thought she would never feel it again. This confused her. As her boyfriend has the same effect on her. Which made this confusing. Running a hand up to his she slowly lowered his hand down with a soft smile on her lips, "Where have you been all this time you little rascal?"she asked as if he haven't been missing for a huge chunk of her life.

It felt like when they were still eleven. Only her little rascal was the opposite of little and no longer the scrawny little kid she once knew. "I didn't know you attended this University. I mean I seen you around but I didn't know it was you. With all the no speaking and all,"she muttered. She didn't know what to say. She never knew he would result to being a mute.

r e i r e i

Carter bends down picking up his notebook. He chuckles softly hearing the old nickname fall from her lips. He looked at his notebook, and back to Megan. He knows he can trust her. He knows that no matter what, she wouldn't run. So he took her hand, and ran. Pulling her along pass everyone. Until they reached his dorm. His roommates were out at the moment, and would be for a couple hours so he knew that it would be safe. He let them in, and closes and locked the door. Breathing in deeply.

He whispers as he looks at the confused girl. "Meggie." He sighed as he ran his hand through his hair. Seeing her here. Knowing that she was here. It was too much. He couldn't and wouldn't hide from her. Carter just opens his mouth. "I got adopted and I wish I hadn't. " He whispers to her. "I ran away Meggie. I was running away. I ran here. I didn't know you were here. I tried to find you. "

Carter did. He went to their old orphanage but it was closed down. And he couldn't find any information any other way. He had to give up. But he always kept looking for the red head in the back of his mind

Carter was just looking at the screen in disbelief. The private investigator that Danny helped him hired. Found his birth family and he was stunned. It turns out he had a brother, a twin brother and he went to this school. It was Hunter. Hunter was his brother. And they didn't even know. They were good friends too. He hurried up and printed the proof.

He ran out of the library. Running to the one place where he was sure Hunter would be. The football field.
KingofAesir KingofAesir

"Go long, Foster!" Hunter yelled, his voice carrying up over all the other various sound clutter floating around. The red head bog spun to avoid one of the guys playing defense and planted his feet to throw the ball.

"Go, baby, go!" The center, Mitchell, grinned as the brown oval sailed up into the air. Thirty yards down the field, Foster turned his head just in time to see the ball falling toward him. The wide receiver caught it easily and a few more yards would have him in the end zone.

"And that...is how it is done, Fred. You owe me twenty bucks!" Hunter pushed the dark headed linebacker in the shoulder and laughed. Fred groaned and kicked at the grass, complaining about how Hunter always won stupid bets. "Take a break, my dudes."

Hunter dismissed the team momentarily to a water break, where he himself plopped down on a bench with a water bottle in his hand.
r e i r e i

Carter saw Hunter with a water bottle in his hand. He ran down the steps skipping many at a time to get to him. He stopped in front of him, breathing heavily but hands him the paper. He had tears in his eyes. His voice was screaming inside, and he wanted to talk. He felt the need to talk like nothing before but every time he opened his voice, nothing would come on. A wave of frustration came over her, he wanted to talk to his brother. He wanted him to know that it was his dream to have a brother since he was a kid.

All Carter ever wanted was a family. A family where he felt loved and happy instead of scared and hurt. Hunter had been a great friend and now he's gonna be a great brother. Well if he accepts Carter as a brother
KingofAesir KingofAesir

Hunter cocked his head to the side at the sight of the man in front of him. Carter seemed rather...agitated? No, that wasn't right. Hunter smiled up at him, his teeth practically shining. Standing so that he could be even with Carter's eyes.

"Carter, what's up, broskie?" Hunter asked his friend, pulling him into sort of awkward side hug with complete disregard for the paper in Carter's hands, "Whaddaya need, my dude?"
r e i r e i

Carter just thrusted the paper into his hands. Taking out his notebook, and writing down a single word. 'Brothers' That was all he could think of. He needed to get something across to Hunter but he didn't know what he needed to get across. Was it that he was proud of the fact they were brothers? Truly they might be total opposites but Hunter has truly got a heart of gold. Carter could see it when Hunter is dealing with Megan or Pace. The guy may be a bit of a airhead but he was an airhead with a sweetness he never really knew as he grew up.

Even though he wishes he would stop talking to Megan cause he loved her. She was his first best friend, and his first and maybe last love. He doesn't ever want to lose her even if she never noticed him in that way ever. He'll be content with just being there for her. Carter just wanted her to be happy.
KingofAesir KingofAesir

Hunter cocked his head to the side at the paper Carter handed him. He took a second to read it, and then a few more to read it a second time. This paper was saying that he and Carter were brothers. Hunter blanched at it. A few quiet moments went by until Hunter looked up from the paper to Carter. He could've cried. Hunter might be a bit dense, even he acknowledged that, but he knew this wasn't anything to be joking about.

"Dude." Hunter stated simply, his mouth forming a oval shape,"Dude." He did an awkward little half jump half tip-toe movement and ran a hand through his hair.

"Awe, man. I can't believe my parents didn't tell me about this. My dad is crazy, dude." Hunter shifted, "Our dad is crazy."

r e i r e i

Carter nodded, he was stunned. He was the twin brother of the Hunter. People always said they looked alike, and the fact they have the same birthday. Carter just thought they were simply just coincidences. But they weren't. They were brothers, and neither of them knew. All because of his damn birth father.

He looked at Hunter and opened his mouth. It was time, he had already began to slowly talk to Megan and Danny. They gave him the feeling of being safe. Hunter did the same. He said "You are my brother. No matter w-w-what h-h-he says"

Hook walked out of the boys dressing room in his swim trunks, ready to jump into the chlorinated water. He placed his towel on a nearby bench and approached a diving block. Hook stretched a bit to loosen up his bones before leaning down and letting his hands touch the tip of the diving block. After a huge breath, he dove into the water and began to do a few laps. Not many knew that swimming was one of Hook's escapes from life. The sport is way more healthier than smoking, and it was way more fun. He gets to see cute swimmer girls, goes topless whenever he pleased, and swim back and forth in a bunch of water. Well, the last part isn't as fun, but it helps with stress. After a few laps, Hook surfaced and laid on his back. He let out a sigh as he floated around the middle of the pool.

The red-head was growing agitated to get her body encased with the wet sensation of the water that she spent so much time in. Ever since she was little youngling she started training and for the long run she had come out rather successful to begin with. Her name was well-known in the sporting industry, especially swimming. She was relieved she was taking some time off and actually attempt to study.

However, she was not about to let go of her swimming side go to waste. She still trained. Thanks to a fellow friend, she managed to replace her and Naomi got the swimming captain role. She was nervous yet so confident about the situation.

Heading towards the pool she placed her towel on a bench and removed her flip-flops. She was now in her black swimming whole piece and her eye goggles on her head. She had forgotten her swimming cap back in the dorms so her vivid orange hair was tied up in a ponytail that hung over her goggles' strap. Motioning towards the edge near a platform, inhaling the familiar scent of chlorine the pool offered. She never grew tired of it.

As she was about to settle to dive for her set of laps she paused seeing a male simply floating on the water's surface and a frown appeared on her lips. "Uhmm I am pretty sure this pool is not for lounging you know..." she commented with her hands on her hips with a smirk on her face, looking down at the brown haired male.

Being a professional swimmer she took it seriously and seeing someone relax in a training pool was not something she was quite accustomed to. Boy she remembered how her coach had scolded her when she was little cause of such a thing.

Hook blinked when he heard a voice above him and found himself staring into the honey brown eyes of a lovely ginger-haired lady. He wasn't sure when she came in, but he was not going to miss out on a chance to do another one of his favorite hobbies, flirting. Hook sat up in the water and trod water for a minute or so to assess the beauty. He could tell by expression and hands on her hips that she wasn't too happy with him. He wished he knew what she said, but with the water muffling sound around him and him not caring at the time, Hook was just unable to figure out what she vocalized. Thus, after finishing his evaluation, Hook swam his way to the edge of the pool where the lady was standing and rested his arms on the ledge. He decided to woo her out of being annoyed at him with a subtle charm and so, gave her his usual sly, yet charming smirk as he looked up at her. "Sorry gorgeous but I didn't quite catch what you said." Hook stated and held out a hand to the pretty dame. "My name is James Hookway, but I prefer the simple name Hook." With his introduction, he shot the ginger a wink.

Pace tapped the screen of the monitor in front of him and frowned. The thing didn't seem to want to turn on. Cursing under his breath, Pace leaned down to check that the actual computer was on, it was. Climbing out of the chair, he went down onto his knees under the desk. His hands moved wires and the like around looking for anything unplugged or suspicious looking.

He could literally just move to a different computer but this was the one he always used and he didn't really feel like having to re-download his game on another computer. He'd have to find out what was wrong with this one.
TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

Phoebe was walking through one of the hallways on campus, the hem of her polka-dotted dress fluttering behind her knees with each step. She felt particularly confident today. She had just got done finishing four assignments weeks before they were due. Hours of free time to play video games and binge-watch Netflix shows awaited Phoebe because of her work. All she had to do was print it all out. So, when she found the computer lab, she opened the door and went inside.

It was surprisingly empty--as far as Phoebe could tell. She claimed an empty seat in front of a computer. Her flash drive was in the middle of sending her work through the printer when she realized someone was present from the row behind her. Curious by the subtle fumbling noise, she rose from her chair, craning her neck to see who it was.

Nothing.

This time, she checked around the corner and saw that the person was a guy underneath the desk, assumably trying to fix the computer above him. "Ummm..." she said, somewhat announcing herself. "Need some help there?" Part of Phoebe was only offering help because--whoever this guy was--could potentially knock all the power out if he unplugged the wrong cord and corrupt the files in her flash drive.

She'd rather prevent that happening.
KingofAesir KingofAesir

Pace hadn't heard anyone entering the room. He was too transfixed on wires and blinking lights from the computer. Blue eyes checked each little plug-in, even unplugging and re-plugging different cables. He would occasionally climb back up to look if the monitor had come back on, but other than that he was confined under the desk.

He was in the process of unplugging a larger cable in the back when a voice startled him. Pace shot up, effectively banging his head on the bottom of the table in the process. Pace cursed profusely as he climbed out from under the table to face whoever had entered. When he finally managed to stand up and face them, he found himself at a loss for words.

What was he doing again?

Pace fidgeted and rubbed the sore back of his head.

Oh, she asked you a question!

"Uh....I-I d-dont know. T-the monitor w-wouldn't t-turn on." Pace stuttered out, his gaze flicking back a forth between the dark haired girl and the floor. He had never been good with new people, pretty girls least of all.

TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

Unknowing that she would've scared the guy, Phoebe bit back a chortle that nearly escaped through her lips when he bumped his head against the desk and cursed under his breath. The young woman placed a gloved hand over her mouth in a feeble attempt to hide the slightest of smiles. But when he rose out from underneath the desk, her grin faded.

He was actually...really...cute. Phoebe was surprised, but then again there were a lot of attractive guys on campus. Not that she fell head over heels with every one she encountered--she just wasn't blind. The university was practically teeming with them.

Phoebe shook her head, tossing the idle thought out of her head. "Lemme see." She walked to his side and knelt down, turning on the flashlight component in her cell phone to get a better look of the inner workings she was so familiar with. Phoebe looked back at the blank monitor. She knew the problem.

"Okay, well, you were on the right track, buuut you missed this and this." She pointed them out to him, brushing her fingertips against the cords she mentioned. She switched the two as she plugged them in. "And..." The young woman stood to her feet and let her fingers dance across the keyboard, clicking away so hastily that it was hard to discern what she did. Amidst the black screen came a green border.

A blinking cursor, awaited instructions. Phoebe typed in a code with a mix of numbers, underscores, symbols, and words. When her pinky finger hit Enter, that was what made the monitor return back to normal. The green border and the irregular code disappeared. She faced the guy, smiled, and gestured to the computer.

"Ah, see? There ya go! Easy."
KingofAesir KingofAesir

Pace moved aside to let this girl have access to the computer. He watched her with an almost childlike curiousity as she fiddled with the computer. Pace cocked his head to the side as the girl pointed out things that he had missed, paying close attention in the event he'd need to fix the thing again. To be honest, he hardly kept up with her quick movements though he tried.

She was back up in a flash. Pace almost got whiplash as his head whipped up to follow her movements. He shuffled a bit closer as her fingers flew across the keyboard, typing a whole jumble of code and God knows what. Though, he leaned back again when he almost fell over from watching so closely. Pace shoved his hands in his pockets when she turned back around when she was done. The monitor was, in fact, returned to normal. The shy blonde managed a smile and a nod, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to find words.

"T-thanks."

Introduce yourself, dumbass. I don't care if she's out if your league.

"I...uh...I'm P-Pace, b-by the way. N-Not that y-your w-wanted to know th-that." Pace's eyes shot down the the ground in embarrassment.

Wow. Just beautiful, Pace. You are such a smooth talker. She can't possibly resist you now.

Sarcastic ass.

TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

The task was very simple for Phoebe, but as she faced the blonde young man with her hands to her hips and a satisfied grin on her face, she felt rather powerful. He probably wasn't expecting a girl so small and dainty to know how to fix a computer so well. He bashfully introduced himself as Pace and didn't meet her eyes. It was hard not to notice the stuttering.

Maybe he has a speech impediment...? Or just shy.

The gal took it upon herself to extend her hand to him. "Nice to meet you, Pace. The name's Phoebe Silverman!" She glanced at the computer for a moment, and her blue eyes lit up when she spotted the symbol of a video game on the home screen. Her mouth was caught between a gasp and a smile. "No way! Immortal Fear?! Hardly anyone knows about that game! What level are you?"

Suddenly, Phoebe forgot all about her papers and her flash drive and was now too invested in conversing with a timid guy who obviously appreciated a video game too awesome to be on everyone's radar. Phoebe was tempted to retrieve her own laptop and play a friendly round with Pace. She hardly ever had to the chance meeting a fellow gamer--in person--with good tastes.

Don't scare the cute guy away, Pheebs! You just might strike..."Immortal Fear" in his heart. Huehuehue.

KingofAesir KingofAesir

Phoebe.

Pace smiled to himself. Pretty name. By this point he had completely forgotten why he needed to get on the computer in the first place, not that he really cared any more. The man was too engrossed in trying not to be a dweeb in front of a pretty girl. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to formulate a coherent reply before Phoebe was excitedly gushing about Immortal Fear. Right, that's what he was doing.

Pace flinched slightly and her rather outgoing display but smiled none the less. In truth, he'd never met anyone who played Immortal Fear either. Trying to get Hunter to play with him didn't count, he may be great at football but he had no mind for gaming strategy. But, this girl definitely counted.

"Y-yea. You p-play? I'm level t-twenty-seven." Pace managed to mutter out quietly, managing to stutter less, growing in confidence. "I was actually a-about to p-play. I-if you wanna j-join." Pace smiled at her, "N-Not that you h-ave to or anything."

TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

Formerly staring at the screen, Phoebe looked back at the guy with a sense of delight glimmering in her eyes. Her lips curled into an easy smile as he spoke in turn on the topic of Immortal Fear. He stuttered less and didn't look away as much when he talked about it. Pace appeared a little more comfortable--hopeful, like her.

Ugh, he's got such nice eyes, too... Phoebe inwardly cooed.

Hearing the invitation to play the game alongside him, Phoebe perked up. "Yeah!" She would love to. She had the notion to pull a chair next to his and sit down. But, once her phone vibrated in her pocket--yes, her dress had pockets--she drew it out and realized what she forgot: she had a doctor's appointment today.

It was in half an hour, and took twenty minutes to get there.

Phoebe cursed at herself, huffed, then gave Pace an apologetic grin. "Sorry. I gotta be somewhere in a few, so I won't be able to stay for long... But I totally would!" She was then struck with an idea when she glanced back at the printer. "Hold on, I'll just give you my gamertag so we can play Immortal Fear later!"

Taking one of the assignment papers that were printed, Phoebe tore off a small portion of it--she didn't mind. She wrote on the paper with a ballpoint pen she found in her purse, marking the words with the curlicues and squished lettering that made her handwriting feminine, unique, and tidy. The note read:
Phoebe's gamertag~
Miss_8-Bit_Blitz

"It's the same for my Xbox, PS4, and Steam. Add me whenever you get the chance, okay?" She gave Pace the note and smiled. "But hey, I'm level twenty-eight on Immortal Fear, so it'll be a fair fight." Phoebe didn't realize the exchange was equivalent to giving one's phone number in hopes for a date. At least, not immediately, did she think this.

Phoebe held out her hand once more, reviving the opportunity for a cordial introduction--or goodbye, rather. "It was nice meetin' ya, Pace!"

A thermos filled with chamomile tea rested between her folded legs. Acoustic music played through her headphones. A novel was laid bare by her hands. Under a tree in the courtyard, Lily was fairly content during this warm afternoon.

More accurately, she was deeply immersed by the book she was reading. So much, that all noise and commotion was entirely drowned out. An intense expression was drawn across Lily's soft face, her brows furrowed and her light eyes glinting with anticipation by each word.

...clasped a hand on Vincent's shoulder before he could leave. The stranger bore a grin too wide for his face and his eyes were inscrutable. “You haven’t told me your name yet.”
“Why do you need to know?”
The stranger's smile only flickered for a moment, but it was enough to see that if it were in his mind, he would’ve dug his nails further into--

Something struck the side of Lily's head. It felt like a person's backhand. Knuckles, clouting her and making her dizzy for a moment. Whatever it was made her temple feel hot with pain; she winced as she grazed her fingers against it. She looked down to realize the assailant was not a person, but a plastic Frisbee gone astray.

"Ow..." Lily muttered to herself. She took off her headphones and lifted her gaze, hoping the owner of said Frisbee didn't intend this. She spotted a young man in the distance flailing his arms about. If not for the pain, she would've found it funny. Ugh...I'm bleeding, too.

nymphadora. nymphadora.

it was a extremely sunny day yet with the slight sweat beads forming on his forehead, hugo still had a large grin on his face. his brother, however, didn’t have the same smile on his face but hugo didn’t care. their little sister, margo, sat elegantly underneath a tree, humming some french melody to herself while she scrolled on her phone. “theo! head’s up.” hugo yelled, running across the green grass while throwing the red frisbee in a swift motion. hugo slowed down, leaning against his legs as he tried to regain his breath.

yet as the frisbee flew over his brother’s head, hugo’s face contorted into a fearful look. his brown eyes focused on the frisbee as he watched hit a girl in the head. “oh, crap.” hugo muttered. out of the corner of his eye, theodore was waving his hands crazily and yelling multiple curse words at his brother. a childish grin crept up his lips at the sight of his frantic brother and jogged over towards the poor girl that got hit by his frisbee.

“i am so sorry, my brother and i were pla-” hugo’s voice trailed off as his eyes locked with hers, “-ying frisbee since we heard it was a popular thing here,” hugo joked as he picked up the frisbee in an awkward rush, “i’m hugo. i’m really sorry about hitting you again.” he apologised, his cheeks turning a soft shade of red. his eyes widen at the sight of blood trickling down her forehead, “you’re bleeding, oh crap!” hugo fretted as he swooped down and sat next to the girl, eyeing the cut, “is there a hospital somewhere? i’ll take you.” he panicked, his brother still waving his hands frantically in the background.
TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

Closing her book, Lily sighed dejectedly as she heard a pair of footsteps bounding toward her. She was more upset about being interrupted during a suspenseful chapter than she was about being attacked by the Frisbee. Maybe it really was a better idea to stay indoors this time. At least, in her apartment, she could grab a different book right off the shelf as soon as she was finished with another.

And she wouldn't be hit in the face with Frisbees.

The young man who stood in front of her now began to profusely apologize. His voice was shaped by an accent of some sort, bordering onto British but not quite that. She dipped her head back and looked at him. Pale blue interlocked with warm copper. He trailed off mid-sentece. Lily broke the gaze into a mere glimpse by nervously averting her eyes to the book. The young man introduced himself as Hugo, and apologized again for the trouble.

Hugo... "Bright in mind and spirit" she mused, recalling the meaning behind said name. "I-It's okay. You didn't mean it." Her tone was as small and timid as she felt. She noticed the pinkish glow emanating from Hugo's cheeks and a bead of sweat traveling down his brow.

He seemed nervous as well, or perhaps just simply out of breath from the running he must've been doing.

"You're bleeding, oh crap!" He swiftly sat down next to her and peered at her wound, making Lily even more fidgety from the closeness. She appreciated that this young man cared, but her confined bubble of personal space has popped at this point. "Is there a hospital somewhere? I'll take you."

"Huh? N-No, I'm fine. It's not that serious..." Lily insisted. "I can just...get a band-aid." She touched her forehead and sucked in air through her teeth when she accidentally touched the small cut. Well, she tried to make it seem like she was fine. In reality, Lily was prone to mildly excessive bleeding from minor cuts, but she wasn't going to start spilling out her medical information.

Lily didn't enjoy chasing people away with her awkwardness, especially those who seemed...pleasant.

nymphadora. nymphadora.

hearing the girl wince once she touched the cut only made hugo feel even more guilty. "oh god, this is not good." hugo fidgeted anxiously, his teeth gnawing at his bottom lip. "um, maybe i should just google how to fix bleeding people? if my brother can study law, i'm sure i can pretend to study medicine." hugo tried to joke, his laughter coming out in small chokes instead.

hugo ran a hand through his hair as he stood up, "please, at least let me help you get a band-aid. otherwise, i'll feel guilty." hugo's face contorted into a pleading, puppy-like, face. his eyes wide filled with hope and sincerity. he truly didn't mean to hit the girl in the head but, something about her was memorising about her. the way the light hit her pale skin, the glossy reflection in her blue eyes; if the red blood wasn't there, hugo thought it would've made a beautiful shot for one of his unfinished films.

hugo stood up, dusting his jeans off before he offered a welcoming hand to the girl. "please?" he asked once more with a soft voice, his eyebrow raised and an awkward smile creeping up his lips.
TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

How to fix..."bleeding people"? Lily echoed internally. The phrase alone was a little amusing. Her lips quivered in attempt to fight a smile. She wasn't sure if the noise he made in turn was from laughing or from choking on bubbles of air. She observed how very restless Hugo appeared to be; she wondered if that's how she looked like during her bouts of anxiety. She empathized.

Blue interlocked with brown again.

The deeply remorseful but soft impression colored on Hugo's face wasn't easy to disregard. How could Lily say no to those pleading eyes--that amiable grin? He was so compelled by guilt to fix her smallest of problems that it was actually refreshing to see this level of kindness from a stranger. She then felt the blood trickle down to her cheek.

Somewhat of a small problem.

"O-Okay..." Lily relented, letting out a breathy, awkward chuckle. "I think I might need more than a band-aid..." She accepted Hugo's offered hand and rose to her feet. Feeling self-conscious, she let her hand linger over the side of her face as if to conceal the sight of blood from view. While quickly but ungracefully stowing her things in her backpack, Lily spoke over her shoulder. "Um...I have a first-aid kit in my car. We can use that."

Granted, Lily hardly used her own vehicle for transportation since she was finicky about driving, but at least little handy things like that were at her disposal. Still hiding her face, she beckoned Hugo to follow after her. They approached a burgundy Honda Civic, to which Lily unlocked with the press of a button. Once she retrieved the first-aid kit from the trunk, she glanced up at Hugo.

"Can you help me with the gauze, please?"

nymphadora. nymphadora.

A spark lit up in Hugo’s eyes, she said yes to his offer. Not a lot of people would accept his help, especially those who know him back in Paris, he was a troublemaker, who’d want help from a troublemaker?

Hugo followed the girl to her car, rushing to her side and opening the trunk for her. Hugo gave the woman a kind nod and opened the first-aid kit, grabbing the gauze in a swift motion and began to help the girl clean up the bloody mess forming on her forehead.

“You know,” Hugo murmured as he wiped away the blood on the girl’s forehead, cautiously slipping the loose strands of black hair behind her ear, “I never got your name. I mean, we’ve become so close over the thirty minutes we’ve been together and the fact I nearly killed you with a piece of plastic,” A soft snicker left his lips as he continued to speak, “I would like to know who I nearly killed.” He joked with a childish grin.
TheWaffleLord TheWaffleLord

Lily tensed when Hugo's fingers, delicately but with purpose, tucked strands of her dark hair behind her ear. She wasn't used to interacting this closely to someone she hardly knew. Even though it was a given that it had to be so, her anxiety didn't stop from the circumstance.

Amidst the urgency to bandage and prevent the small cut from bleeding any more than it had, social etiquette entirely slipped from Lily's mind. How rude that she didn't mention her name even though Hugo introduced himself earlier. Her ears glowed red. She looked down at her sneakers, embarrassed, and a wave of bashfulness washed over her.

"Y-Yeah, sorry! I forgot... My name is Liliana, b-but I just go by Lily." She inwardly cringed at herself for the awkward introduction. At least Hugo's witticism made it less painful. Quirky, but less painful. A subtle grin formed in the corners of Lily's lips. "Attacked by the Frisbee, maybe, but not nearly killed."

Lily's eyes furtively jumped from Hugo to the floor, unsure of where to keep her gaze. "Has the bleeding gotten worse...?"

do you really love me?

It was on a Saturday evening when Gunner had to face a daunting, colossal beast that could bring peril to his life--his love life. He would be meeting the parents for the first time, but he felt more peeved than he did nervous. Adeline, his girlfriend whom he adored, was frantic and uneasy about the situation but insisted on dragging him to it anyway. Adeline mentioned snippets of her parents throughout the course of their relationship--a year and several months now--and from what Gunner could surmise, the parents were very strict.

Traditional and strict.

Neither words boded well for the young man. Gunner wasn't stubborn or pessimistic in nature, but being forced to conform to someone else's expectations made him truly uncooperative. Adeline's mother and father did not approve of unshaven men with long, tousled hair, "shabby" clothes, and inadequate table manners. A firm handshake served as his only arsenal and defense.

He refused to cut his hair or shave his beard for the occasion, but the change of attire was what he begrudgingly complied to. It was Adeline's offer of a "special" bottle of hot sauce if he wore a semi-formal suit jacket and slacks; he now felt itchy in the unfamiliar garments. The unlikely couple was still seated in the car, parked in the rounded driveway of her parents' manor. It was ritzy, to say the least.

"Pumpkin," Gunner began solemnly. "I'll be honest: this bites. This ain't cool. Not even this--" he gestured to his clothes, "--is a little bit 'me'. Your parents... They don't like to mix with the riff-raff, do they?" he gazed into Adeline's hazel brown eyes, not breaking away for a moment. It wasn't a question he wanted an answer for; he already knew it. Gunner squeezed her hand and pressed his forehead against hers. "Whaddya say we just...book it outta here instead of ringin' that doorbell? It can be you and me, Pumpkin, havin' a night made for two..."

nymphadora. nymphadora.

For the entire week, Adeline was worrying about the day her orthodox parents meeting her not so orthodox boyfriend, Gunner. Her self-doubt and anxiety had enveloped her whole like a big blanket, Adeline's constant quips and nitpicking about Gunner weren't usual for her but yet a habit she learned from her parents. The dreaded night seemed to crawl at a rapid pace and the next thing Adeline knew, she was sitting next to Gunner staring at herself in the rear view mirror making sure her appearance would be up to her parents standard.

"Whaddya say we just...book it outta here instead of ringin' that doorbell? It can be you and me, Pumpkin, havin' a night made for two..."

Unwanted worrying emotions churned in Adeline's stomach, Gunner's words echoed through her mind as she swiftly twisted her towards him and place a passionate yet anxious kiss on his lips. Adeline's brown eyes locked eyes with him, hoping and searching for comfort in his gentle eyes. "I know, baby, but we have to go." Her soft hand cuddled his cheek before she grabbed her golden purse from the dashboard and climbed out of the slick black car. "Besides, maybe they'll surprise us and lighten up a bit?" Her voice wavered as she tried to joke about the awkward situation, an unsure chuckle escaped her dark lips. Adeline wandered back to Gunner, dusting his shoulders off as she flickered a smile back to him.

"You should wear a suit more often."

The kiss was more than appreciated. But he was hungry for another. If only Gunner had her for a moment longer, he could ease Adeline's mind and distract them both from what neither of them wanted to face. He sighed but nodded understandingly upon her answer.

Dang... It was worth a shot.

Skipping the family dinner and making plans of their own sounded much more delightful, but Gunner respected that his girlfriend wasn't choosing to take the easy way out. Adeline had been stressing over this day for a week, finding the smallest details to fret over and complain about--namely, about him. He didn't hold it against her, since he knew it was simply a nervous habit. This family dinner was going to be a tough pill to swallow.

They both knew that.

Gunner slipped out of the vehicle as well. He returned a gentle smile to Adeline as she looked up at him, partly amused by the wishful thinking. "Ha, maybe. And this is the closest I'll ever get to a monkey suit, so soak it all in while ya can, Pumpkin. C'mon." He placed a hand over the small of her back, a habit he found himself doing whenever they walked together. The unlikely couple climbed the steps leading to the front door. It was a lot taller and ornate than he figured it'd be. He could feel Adeline's discomfort.

Relax... I'm right here with ya.

Gunner lifted his touch from the chiffon of her dress and interlocked his fingers with her own dainty, slender fingers. He squeezed her hand. The tiny bit of curiosity in his forest green eyes asked if she was still willing to follow through. Being given a silent affirmation, he looked at the door once again. "Well...here goes nothin'." Gunner rang the doorbell.
