Fandom Fire Emblem Fates RP (with progress system)

HanaKatana

The Simple Swordsman
Would any fans of Fire Emblem be interested in taking part in a Fire Emblem Fates RP? Of-course this is open to anyone not familiar with Fire Emblem Fates too so will be presented without relying on need-to-know information from the game. At most I would need at least 3-4 other people to get things rolling. For those asking themselves "What the hell is Fire Emblem", click here.

Much like the original Fire Emblem game, this RP will abide by many of it's rules whilst switching it up a bit as the turn based system is pretty difficult to replicate in an RP sense. One key feature that will be transferring over with no exceptions is permanent death. Once your character is dead, they're gone forever. No revives, phoenix downs, nada. To add more thrill to the experience, only 1 OC per RPer (subject to change).

Plot is mainly following an altered version of Birthright/Conquest with no Corrin or Azura. The only canon characters appearing are Queen Mikoto of Hoshido, King Garon of Nohr & Anna (who switches sides whenever she feels like it) an NPC. Characters that won't be appearing include the royal families, all retainers & pretty much all recruit units. So literally fresh slated Nohr vs Hoshido. All royals/retainers are OCs.

Spoiler below is a basic plot I came up with. Is subject to change.

Map <--- You're gonna need this

The Kingdom of Nohr was founded by the humans loyal to the Dusk Dragon, who granted them land and its blood so they could harness the Dragon Vein and land to build their country. Its capital is the city of Windmire, with the royal residence of Castle Krakenburg at its heart. Nohr is located west of Hoshido and the Bottomless Canyon, and north of Nestra. Wyverns can only be found in Nohr.

The Kingdom of Hoshido was founded by humans loyal to the Dawn Dragon, who granted them land and its blood so they could harness the Dragon's Vein. The Hoshidan capital encircles Castle Shirasagi, home of the royal family. Hoshido is located east of Nohr and the Bottomless Canyon, and north of Izumo and Mokushu. Pegasi and Kinshi can only be found in Hoshido.

For many years, the two allied kingdoms of Nohr & Hoshido have shared similar thoughts & opinions in the prospect of territory. With the sudden discovery of a new type of ore resonating from within the bottomless canyon, Nohrians made headway into digging it up. This ore was soon to be known throughout the land as 'Powerstone' due to the production of magical abilities upon coming into contact. When word of the discovery reached Hoshidan Royalty, they insisted that Nohrians share some of their ore to which they were declined without reason. Upon the King of Hoshido's entry into the Nohrian capital for a reason as to why their messenger had been declined, he was assassinated in cold blood along with the retainers that had served him. This was not a mere accident as it had all been planned by the late king of Nohr, Garon. A powerful ruler with strong motives shrouded in mystery. Upon discovering the truth which Nohr had been silently covering up, Queen Mikoto of Hoshido shed tears as she waved the flags of liberation against Nohr to which the King of Nohr slammed the bells of conquest with great joy sparking the start of war!

Which side will you choose?

There are two phases I have planned for this RP to take which will mainly depend on if enough OCs sign up to make it viable.

Preparation - Gives time for more OCs to be submitted, time for all the OCs to get familiar with each other, fight wild monsters/rogue bandits/NPC evil-doer "bosses" within their own kingdom or train among themselves for levels to their characters (growth system explained in spoilers below). Just something for both RP'ers and me to get familiar with how we want to proceed with combat. Bosses take inspiration from Insanity+ mode bosses so expect them to have insane skills (but good loot & exp).

Full on war - Begins randomly without warning. All OCs are forced to join the army of their respective kingdoms and take to battle. They will travel in set groups to different neutral territorial locations. The kingdom which successfully manages to capture the most number of territories will be given status bonus advantages. The RP will keep going until the opposing kingdom has been seized.

Prototype of OC creation with explanation to some of the more detailed values below.

Note that regardless of their social standings, characters will be forced to participate in the war.

Name:

Appearance:

Gender:

Age:

Height:

Kingdom (Nohr or Hoshido):

Social Standing before the war (Retainer/Worker/Soldier/Delinquent):

Personality:

Background/Bio (optional):

Class:

Trait & Flaw (2 traits, 1 flaw):

Stats/Weapon (Leave Blank):

Name/appearance/gender/age/height/personality/background - Pretty self explanatory

Race - Not an option for now despite Fates featuring both the Wolfskin & Kitsune races as I wouldn't be too sure how to make their stats & growth "fair" whilst sticking to the source.

Kingdom - An important decision that cannot be changed. Your OC will be forced to fight for the kingdom you pick.

Social Standing

Each social standing comes with it's own benefit.

Army Rankings (during full-on-war): First Division Soldiers < Lieutenants < Captains

First Division soldiers are expected to adhere to the command of lieutenants whilst lieutenants adhere to the command of captains. If a lot of RP'ers are interested in this RP, more ranks such as "Border Guard" or "Scout" will be generated.

Retainers - Bit of a hit & miss really. If a royal family is established among a small group of RP'ers then retainers will have a whole lot more to do otherwise they will only be serving the NPCs; Garon & Mikoto. Their "social benefit" is having a chance at receiving benefits from King Garon, Queen Mikoto or a royal sibling based on their accomplishments. These benefits include access to powerful weapons, exclusive exp training locations however the mission they would be required to undertake to be rewarded so heavily would not be an easy one (or possibly be rewarded after retainer OC has spent a long time e.g. a full week showing nothing but commitment to their king/queen). They will be given the option of which member of the royal family they would like to be a retainer for. During full-on-war phase they will have their own distinct role which they can decide. Either support a member of the royal family of their choosing (something only this social standing can do) or sign up as a lieutenant in their kingdom's army.

Worker - Average person with a job e.g. farmer, factory worker etc. They have an option to train in their free time although the benefit they gain to stats will be nowhere close to the benefit gained by soldiers. Their "social benefit" is the ability to transfer wages (predetermined) from work over into the gear they can purchase for use during the Full-on-War phase. Workers change into First Division Soldiers during this second phase.

Soldier - Someone enlisted into their kingdom's army forces. During the preparation phase they will spend the majority of their time training. Their "social benefit" is that they get a boost in stats for having had training prior to Full-on-War mode. When the full-on-war phase begins they will start out as a Lieutenant & lead a group of first division soldiers.

Delinquent - People that love to live for fun and cause mayhem. They tend to not abide by the rules whilst some have a strong hatred against their own kingdom's royal family. Despite this, they are not in the same boat as the "evildoers" or bosses mentioned above. During full-on-war phase they change into First Division Soldiers. Their "social benefit" is that they do not have to follow the orders of both lieutenants & captains but instead can take independent action to travel where they wish. They are also the only type of OC that can attack their own friendly nation, though if spotted attacking a friendly OC by another friendly OC or friendly NPC, their kingdom status will turn "neutral" leaving them with no kingdom to call a home.

Trait & Flaw -

Disclaimer: no OP OCs, OCs with more than two traits, OCs with skills/abilities that extend out of what's capable within the Fire Emblem universe (e.g. transforming into a super saiyan), no godmodding, no OCs that aren't a troubadour/healer being able to randomly 'regenerate' as they are superman. Everything is sticking to the foundation which Fire Emblem has followed for many many years.
Traits are something about them which makes them unique. This unique trait will be detrimental in deciding what type of skill an OC will receive e.g.

"Azama is very lucky, rumor has it that he is unbeatable at the local casino! However he is only at beginner level with his weapon."
Something like that which conveys a power with the ability to turn heads along with a flaw to compliment it. In this case, Azama may receive a skill when in combat of +4 to his Luck stat.
Flaws need to be serious combat flaws. Something like

"Leo is highly skilled in witchcraft & magic having been compared to even Merlin himself... but is afraid of mice."
won't cut it. Not to worry though, flaws can eventually be worked over until your character is flawless although that may take a long time and only occur in the final stage of the RP.
Class -

Disclaimer: no OP OCs, OCs with more than one class, OCs being able to wield weapons outside of their class, OCs with random skills/abilities that extend out of the Fire Emblem universe, no godmodding, no OCs that aren't a troubadour/healer being able to randomly 'regenerate' as they are superman. Everything is sticking to the foundation which Fire Emblem has followed for many many years.
Specific classes have been restricted to Nohr/Hoshido kingdoms respectively to stay canon.

It will incorporate the traditional fire emblem combat mechanics. Follows the traditional weapons triangle;

Axe > Spear > Sword > Axe
. Flying classes deal more damage to mages but take increased damage from bow classes.
Nohr Classes:

Cavalier, Knight, Fighter, Mercenary, Outlaw, Wyvern Rider, Dark Mage, Troubadour (F & M). They can upgrade (will think of a system later if people are interested in the RP)

Hoshido Classes:

Samurai, Villager, Apothecary, Ninja, Oni Savage, Spear Fighter, Diviner, Monk, Shrine Maiden, Sky Knight, Archer
A reference

Stats/Weapon - Will most likely be decided by me & other GMs that are familiar with Fire Emblem mechanics so that each RPer's OC are treated fairly in being given a fighting chance. All OCs will start at level 1 and progress steadily over time. Perhaps even another tab can be opened up under the name "Character Progress" where any levels/stats gained as a result of training are posted by me/other GMs with RPers tagged.

(unlisted) Skills - Wanted to know any others' opinion of this category. Do you think skills should also be inherited from fire emblem? Should certain skills such as Miracle (survive a lethal attack) & lethality (basically insta-kill) be banned? Looking for more opinions on this.

Just something I've been wanting to try for a while now, any and all suggestions or areas that you feel should be changed are highly appreciated. Again don't be shy even if you're unfamiliar with Fire Emblem Fates' game play, this RP is taking a friendly introduction to the game and I'm available if you need any help! ( :) )

I played Fire Emblem: Birthright and loved it! I would be interested in joining this RP.

I played much on old school versions of those games in Japan. I'm Interested though, let me know when it's ready. Also, I am going to make my character.
