Jihoon was not expecting this whole 'X' thing to become this big. He didn't expect his father to start yelling at him and the teachers about, "controlling this school", which he didn't understand why he was getting yelled at for that when he wasn't even a teacher. His father gave him a long lecture after about, "representing his father", and "doing good for the school" but it went in one ear and out the other and Jihoon left the office without another word. He had been told that his class would be the ones investigating the crime, since the class was made up of all of the suspects, including himself, which he found hilarious. Jihoon headed into the classroom, starting to strum the guitar so the class would look at him. The teacher just glared but moved back to let him speak and Jihoon moved to the podium, leaning against it and staring at the group of seniors. "This class has been chosen as the team to find out X." He saw a few mortified expressions and chuckled, "I know right? I'd rather not do this either, but we're all suspects in this case, and until then we're guilty and I don't think any of us want to be behind bars." Jihoon moved towards his seat, sitting down in his chair and propping his feet up on the desk. "I was told to say that, "If X doesn't come forward soon, we'll make all of your lives living hell' but that's a bit rude isn't it? Not very appropriate too say to kids." His eyes landed on the teacher in the front and smiled, "We are too meet at this classroom after school hours to discuss our "actions" and "plans" to stopping X and also stop him if he's here at the same time we are." Jihoon propped his chin up on his palm, peering around at the group of seniors, "Any questions?"

It was pitch black as his eyes slowly fluttered open. The hairs on his arm stood as his body returned to normal body temperature, shivering slightly. Min Woo's arms were crossed and his legs were stretched out under his desk as he leaned in his chair. The book that covered his face slipped onto his lap with a quiet thud and he groaned internally at officially being awake.

He blinked a few times to get rid of the black and white spots and stretched his upper body weakly. Jihoon, his friend from year one, had just entered the classroom and Min Woo could tell from the expression on his face that he wasn't very happy. Their friendship is still a shocker to many people, considering the large gap in economic status, and sometimes Min Woo wonders himself how they even became friends. It was purely by chance, well... nothing is by chance around his best friend and that's something he's come to terms with over the years.

The corners of Min Woo's lips drooped slightly, his displeasure in Jihoon's announcement quite obvious. While it may have been one thing to have a class where quite a few students were suspects, it was an entirely different matter to force everyone to stay after school to solve something that isn't their problem. Speaking of which, how did he become one of the suspects anyways? Did he work hard to keep the spotlight off of him just for something like this to happen?

Sighing, the nineteen year old male laid his arm flat on the cool desk, head instantly resting on it. He stared out the window and aimlessly watched the clouds pass by, wondering how he'd adjust his schedule since he'd have to stay at school even longer. There were so many things to do and so little time to do it all. A part of him questioned whether or not X was actually doing the right thing because now the students were being dragged into the mess; not just the staff.

Today, Jin-tae decided was not the start of a good day.

First of all, he overslept. Okay, maybe that’s not necessarily a bad thing in his eyes (y’know, more time to sleep and all that) but as he was teetering on the edge of slumber and wakefulness, wondering if he really needed education, his mother came storming into his room with a face like thunder and he decided in that split second – yes, yes he did.

He legged it out of the house so quick that he didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast, dammit.

Of course, everything decided to go downhill from there.

Perhaps the Fates were smiling down on him that day because Jin-tae did manage to get into his classroom with ten minutes to spare, but there was a flicker of disappointment when he noticed his friends weren’t there yet – like, he needed someone to cheer him up a bit. A hungry Jin-tae was not a happy Jin-tae. So, the nineteen-year-old went to sit at his desk which was located near the window. He loved his window seat as it made him feel like the main character of an anime or something, and there were lots of distractions outside to tame his boredom whilst lessons droned on. Really, it shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone that Jin-tae was ranked fairly low in exam results.

Well, someone made sure that Jin-tae wouldn’t be enjoying that seat today. Some absolute pillock had swapped his chair for that notorious one, the one that everyone called ‘The Chair.’ That particular chair had a wonky leg so whoever sat on it would be at a subtle, uncomfortable tilt that you just couldn’t ignore. Even so, Jin-tae just gritted his teeth and decided to get on with it, not really in the mood to kick up a fuss about it. He was a grown man! He could cope with a stupid chair.

As he was sitting there minding his own business, the notification buzz in his pocket interrupted his straying thoughts. With a quick glance around the room to make sure that the teacher hadn’t arrived yet, Jin-tae whipped his phone out and checked his messages. He blinked blankly at the screen. Oh. He’d been dumped.

Ha-eun (if he remembered her name correctly) was upset because he hadn’t bought her a necklace from H.R and that she shouldn’t have left her boyfriend for him. Jin-tae could barely suppress the roll of his eyes, scoffing quietly to himself. He would never understand girls; they were just so needy and materialistic all the time, unless it was just his own terrible misfortune that they were the only type of girls that were interested in him. He sighed, switching his phone off and burying it back in his pocket. Well, it looked like he was back on the market… but the idea of living the bachelor life sounded very appealing. Yeah, he deserved a break for now. Coming to that decision felt like a huge weight had been taken off his shoulders. Finally.

A few minutes after the teacher had stepped in, the familiar strum of a guitar could be heard drifting down the corridor, gradually getting louder until Jihoon appeared and launched into an explanation of what was going on. Ah… the whole ‘X Situation’ was still a major issue for the school and now they were all suspects? It was weird to think that any one of them could be the cause of all this trouble and no one knew a single thing about it. Ugh… and now they had to spend their own time after school to work out who X is? Well, there goes his social life down the drain.

Jin-tae leaned forward over his desk, head cocked to the side like a curious puppy as he focused his gaze on his eccentric friend.

“Have they decided what they’re gonna do to X if they find them?”

Ailee was late. Of course she was. When wasn't she? There were just so many more important things that she had to take care of. So many emails to respond to and phone calls to take. Which was hilarious considering she had made zero friends since being here. Too many people had already heard about her being expelled for hacking before she'd even arrived causing most to want nothing to do with her out of fear she'd bring their ranks down, not that her own rank was particularly bad. It could be much worse considering her skipping class, being late and her lack of... Well... Caring. Her grades made up for it well enough putting her rank somewhere in the middle.
Entering the classroom a few minutes into Jihoon's declaration, she took the teachers distraction to creep around the sides of the room and take a seat in the corner at the back. She settled herself, only noting Jihoon mentioning them being suspects and the fact they were going to have to figure out who X was. It took a moment for his words to sink in before she really realised what he'd said. She froze in the process of pulling her phone out, slowly twisting her head to look at the rich kid with the guitar.
"I'm sorry you expect me to what now?" She frowned, not entirely sure she'd heard correctly. "There's no way I am wasting my time because you're father can't be bothered to do his job."
Okay, so she was aware she was being a little harsh but she had things she needed to do and this was just ridiculous.

A smile tugs at the corners of pink stained lips, replacing the usual smirk that sits upon her visage evoking nothing but trouble. Currently Ayumi sat comfortably on one of the chairs, legs perched upon the desk and fingers picking off pieces of her well deserved granola bar and plopping them into her mouth—the teacher not necessarily approving of this, and with each second that passed as she sat, Ayumi could feel the teacher’s gaze harden on her but all Ayumi could offer was a smile as she continued on. No way was she throwing away her breakfast after almost risking a leg and arm for it.

Truthfully, Ayumi simply stole grabbed it from her friend after seeing the many granola bars resting in her locker when she stopped by. They all just looked so mouthwatering sweet, and at the time Ayumi was starving after her mother abandoned her for work and left the poor girl to find her own breakfast. So, she had to make do and take matters into her own hands—granted, she was almost murdered, but it worked out well in the end, for Ayumi at least. She left without a scratch and got to revel in her grand robbery while listening to the distressed calls of her name from her friend.

Finishing her granola bar, Ayumi was quick to hop up from her chair, brushing off any leftover crumbs that landed on her clothes and making sure that the teacher knew she was the one making the mess over here, as if she was truly trying to get in trouble so early in the morning. Throwing her garbage away, the familiar melody of a certain someone infiltrated her eardrums causing her to turn her attention to none other than Moon Jihoon; her pranking partner in crime. The two truthfully were a duo to fear when their mischief were combined.

Sitting back down in her seat, properly this time, Ayumi made an effort to pay attention to the announcement Jihoon presented instead of zoning out. She only had a little bit of interest of what he saying because it had something to do with ‘X.’

“Wait, so you’re telling me we’re the only ones being accused for X’s doing? I call buuullll. What makes your father thinks it’s not one of those pesky freshmen? If they have the balls to ask upperclassmen out, what makes him think they won’t do all of what X has done?”

Ayumi really didn’t have a problem with X and the chaos they caused, in fact it was quite amusing to know there was another troublemaker among them, but it’d start to become a problem if it would cost her class, including her to become Mystery Inc, which she had no interest in being, even if she does love Scooby Doo.

woahthe moment hwari heard the guitar strumming from the hallway, her eyebrow twitched and her hand balled into a fist. moon jihoon’s yodeling and his goddamn guitar squeaks ranked among the top five most annoying sounds on god’s green earth, in her opinion. she barely restrained herself from yelling at him to shut the hell up when he burst into the classroom and took their teacher’s place – a (possibly) unintentional but still obvious visual representation of the boy’s position of power over his fellow students. she let out a long sigh at jihoon’s announcement. well, there went the time slot for her daily bike rides with lola.
woah“there’s no way i’m wasting my time because your father can’t be bothered to do his job,” ailee said, eliciting a smile from hwari. ayumi threw out another comment, and hwari giggled. right, ayumi was constantly getting heart eyes from first and second year boys. some of them even seemed to think that they had a chance with her, which was laughable. besides, if ayumi dated anyone, then that would mean less time for the two of them to spend together... generally unacceptable.
woah”how do we know you’re not just trying to throw us off your trail?” hwari teased with a good-natured nudge to ayumi’s shoulder. she twirled a lock of her hair around her finger, a scowl marring her features. the meetings would disrupt her quality bonding time with lola, but the others surely had important things to do as well. like min woo, who had work after school! her gaze slid over to the older boy. he was staring out the window, head resting on his arm, and he hadn’t spoken at all yet. still, she knew the additional meetings would throw a big wrench into his schedule.
woahhwari tilted her head back and met jihoon’s eyes with a challenging stare. ”soooo i didn’t realize i was paying tuition so that i could do mrs. shin’s job for her?” she said in a false cheery voice. she glanced pointedly at their teacher, who looked a bit taken aback (it’s not like mrs. shin would scold her anyways).

Dae-Hyun had been up early morning like usual, having to cook break for both his aunt and him. It wasn't like she couldn't cook for herself but it was one of those rare occasion where he had decide to just cook something before heading to school. Of course hadn't realised what time it was, until his aunt had mentioned that he should had been heading to school at this time. Looking at the time, he saw that even if he rushed over there he was gonna be late either way. He had been prepared to just take his time to get his stuff and leave but of course he wasn't expecting his aunt to throw one of the frying pan she was cleaning at him. So knowing that it would be better to rush before she started to try to hit him with something else.

The moment that Dae-Hyun arrived at the school, he sighed to himself. He looked at the time in his watch before heading toward his class, having been just a few minutes. He was just about to enter when he heard Jihoon mention something about finding X, casujng confusion. "We are already learning Math?" He though to himself, having just heard the last part. Sitting down, his confusion was answered when Jihoon started speaking again, slowly realizing what he was talking about. He had to hold himself back from saying something when he mentioned how they would have to stay after school, something that he couldn't do at all. Just like the few that worked, he himself had a job to go to after school, so even if he was forced to stay, he wouldn't stay.

When Jin Tae leaned closer and fixed his puppy eyes on Jihoon, he felt his cheeks heat up and he moved his eyes back to his hands. "I don't know honestly. Probably expelled." He would guess the person would be thrown out of the school the instant they found them. His father was more of a, no mercy, kind of man, and Jihoon honestly felt bad for what X would have to go through if he was found. Almost all the students in the classroom were expressing their distress, which Min Woo didn't find all that shocking. The first to speak up was Jin Tae, someone Min Woo didn't really mind but tended to avoid. They were honestly incompatible, however, he didn't hate the guy or anything. Min Woo was simply more reserved and quiet in nature and the latter appeared almost naive and frivolous, especially when it came to relationships. He couldn't understand why Jihoon was friends with someone so flippant, but then again their Ji-Woo friendship would forever remain a giant question mark.

Some girls added their commentary afterwards. Obviously, he didn't recognize half of them since most of his time in class was spent sleeping or zoning out. The only voice that sparked a slither of interest was Hwari's, and that's only because he'd heard it so often outside of the school setting. She was a lot different inside the classroom's walls, and quite frankly, Min Woo didn't like the way she portrayed herself when they were at school. The air she gave off was almost unapproachable--the exact opposite of the girl he got to know throughout the last couple months.

Min Woo lost count of how many people complained and bitched about Jihoon's dad. His eyelids were slowly beginning to shut once again, but the sudden sensation of warmth around his shoulders kept them open. "Aish..." Min Woo groaned quietly as he tried to hide his annoyance towards his best friend, lifting his head and propping it with a hand. He scanned the classroom nonchalantly before meeting Hwari's for a few seconds and turning away. The male stretched in his seat and leaned back lazily, ruffling his hair as though he hadn't just awkwardly made eye contact with Miss Popular. It was almost as if he committed a crime with the way he was holding himself.

He gently nudged his friend's hand off and continued staring out the window in order to distract himself. That was until a folder with some paper was placed before him. While raising his eyebrow curiously, Min Woo opened and allowed a small smirk to form on his lips. "Opinionated... disinterested..." He slowly read out loud, not caring if the information was supposed to be kept a secret or not. It wasn't like people didn't know he could be vocal and was poor as shit anyways. "From a low income family... wow..."

Min Woo shook his head slightly, the bitter grin still on his face, as he set the file down. For the first time since junior high, his socioeconomic status put a dent in his ego and pride. It was actually a bit hurtful that a school would suspect him of something that he couldn't help with. He crossed his arms as he spoke once again. "These are some pretty stupid reasons to be a suspect, but I guess I shouldn't be surprise with the kind of stuff this place advocates."

  • "I don't know honestly. Probably expelled." Oh. Jihoon’s casual explanation to Jin-Tae’s question suddenly struck fear in Seojun’s heart. Funnily enough, not even the aforementioned threat of jail time accomplished that. It was just...if he ever got expelled he might as well just jump in to the Han River. His mother would kill him. She took his education very seriously. Not that he didn’t—how else would he be #3 in the ranks—but her expectations for him were very clear and high.

The threat of expulsion honestly had him sweating a bit. He’d just have to make sure that he wasn't seriously considered to be X, which was easy enough. It should be glaringly obvious to everyone here that he was the least likely suspect. Right?

Curious as to what conclusions Mr. Moon made about him, he opened his file and reacted to the comments under his breath. “Openly sympathetic to X’s delinquent actions…How does me calling X cool connect to me being X?” He tilted his head and read the next one, eyebrows raised, “Frequently plans pranks similar to the style of X. Okay, that’s true, but I’ve never actually done any of them. So...”

Someone else in this room was X.

His eyes shifted around the room casually, but critically analyzed the faces around him. His eyes landed on Min Woo who he dismissed almost immediately. Nah, he seems too lazy. He'd probably rather be sleeping. He turned to Jin-Tae then. No way. They were friends. He wanted to think that he’d know for sure if he were X. Same with Jihoon. His eyes moved to Hwari then. To be honest he didn’t care for her. She could be X. She had a good enough motive; the fact that not even money could help her fix her ranking. He used to tutor her, so he would know. It wouldn’t surprise him if she was guilty, but then there was also Ailee. He didn’t know much about her, or Dae-Hyun for that matter, so that in itself was highly suspicious.

And then there was Ayumi. Lovely, lovely Ayumi. His face subtly softened in to something akin to adoration as he regarded her from a distance, momentarily forgetting that he was trying to figure out who X was. Instead, he found himself wondering what note he’d leave for her in her locker this time. For the last month he'd been anonymously leaving Ayumi haikus in her locker. It was cheesy, maybe, but it was the only way he could freely express his feelings for her. Whenever they talked about their shared love of mischief he'd try to confess to her then and there, but no matter how many times he’d rehearsed beforehand he got tongue-tied. So, for now, it was a tragically awkward work in progress.

Seo Jin-tae

interactions - youngkyun youngkyun | mentions - Jihoon, Seojun,
Min Woo, Dae-hyun

A subtle frown tugged at the corner of Jin-tae’s lips before his expression quickly morphed into one of easy-going neutrality. Jihoon… confused him sometimes. They had a budding friendship that just needed watering until it fully bloomed, but the chairman’s son struggled to maintain eye contact with him for too long, for some reason. Jin-tae wondered if he’d perhaps done something to upset him at some point.

The nineteen-year-old patiently listened to everyone’s complaints and outbursts, silently agreeing with some and finding particular comments a tad harsh no names mentioned

His dark-eyed gaze followed Jihoon’s movement, and finally, the class were alone without Mrs Shin’s watchful eye scrutinising them, tainted with suspicions that had no doubt leaked into the hearts of every student and member of staff in the school. Jin-tae audibly scoffed when Jihoon revealed the reasoning for the lack of police involvement. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. He hated it when establishments (whether that be schools or businesses etc) made drastic decisions to save face, to ‘look good’ in the public eye. Just because Mr Moon didn’t want any bad coverage from the press, he’s clumsily trying to cover up the blemishes of the school’s perfect façade when it should be common sense to anyone that this whole problem would probably be solved much quicker if the appropriate measures were taken – not by leaving the detective work to a class of seniors.

Jin-tae looked at the folder that had been placed on his desk, his own name glaring up at him and there was a heavy stone of dread that sat in the pit of his stomach. Oh, God. What kind of stuff did they drag up from his middle school days that painted him in such a light that it made him a suspect? He flipped the folder open, scanning its contents. Once he had finished, he sat back for a moment to let the stupidity of it all sink in. He was a suspect… because he knew a lot of people and has a “wide circle of friends.” Really? That was the best they could come up with? Jesus, they were definitely grasping at straws there.

He let out a soft sigh, shaking his head slightly. In all honesty, he wouldn’t call everyone he knew ‘friends’, per say. They didn’t know him like Seojun did. Speaking of Seojun, Jin-tae turned to get a glance of his friend before immediately cringing at that expression on his face; it was subtle enough that many would overlook it, but not him. Jin-tae was very much a “people person” so he liked to think that he was good at reading people – especially when it came to his best friend. It was this exact reason why Jin-tae knew that X couldn’t be Seojun; particularly not when there was the threat of expulsion.

Jin-tae mentally took note of everyone in the room and the possibility of them being the problematic troublemaker. Jihoon? No. Even if he didn’t particularly like his father, it just wasn’t in his character. Min Woo? Jin-tae wouldn’t have thought so as all the delinquency must’ve taken a lot of effort that the guy just didn’t have. Dae-hyun? To be honest, he didn’t know the guy well enough to really comment but he was pretty famous for being a low ranker. If he was X perhaps that was his motivation; to destroy the ranking system.

His own personal opinion was that it was one of the girls… but it’d probably be better to not get into that right now. Instead, Jin-tae returned his attention to Jihoon, a soft, thoughtful look on his face.

“So, how is this gonna work exactly? If X is amongst us right now, why would they admit it after hiding for so long? Everyone’ll just start throwing accusations and pointing fingers – it’ll get us nowhere. There needs to be some sort of systematic approach.”

Jin-tae being serious and suggesting something even remotely intelligent was not an everyday occurrence, but even he could say some pretty reasonable things.

She’s gasping dramatically at Hwari’s comment, hand placed on her heart as she feigns pain towards the comment. “I can’t believe my own friend would accuse me of such a thing. That really hurt.” But just as fast as she feigned pain she’s quick to lean in close to Hwari winking. “But you should know, a trickster never tells their plans.” Chuckling, Ayumi leans away and relaxes back in her seat.

After eavesdropping on a neighboring conversation, Ayumi felt the slight ascend of an emotion she hadn’t felt in awhile: fear. Yes, the big and bad Ayumi felt fear—she overhead that if X was caught they’d be expelled, and if Ayumi was caught in the position she knows her parents would have her head. They’d let her mischief bloom into rebellion in hopes Ayumi would realize all this trouble she was getting into, wasn’t worth it and that she’d grow a desire for something else, more innocent; but, that wasn’t coming anytime soon.

In response to another comment Jihoon made, Ayumi was almost quick to complain yet again, but was shut up at her file being given to her. “He’s acting like we’re all some kind of criminal.” She grumbled under her breath, shaking her head before reading over her file.

‘History of rebellious acts, suspicious interest in X’

“You know, I may get into trouble but at least I-.” Ayumi thinks for a moment, before coming to a conclusion. “I got nothing. I’m kind of mad at how reasonable these are.” She’s huffing and crossing her arms as she sits silently for a few seconds before her eyes are doing a sweep of the room, it almost seemed insane that a bunch of seniors were all suspected to be X and all had to figure out who it was especially with the possibility of being one of them.

Upon looking around the room and studying everyone, Ayumi’s eyes landed on a particular figure who seemed to be staring right back at her or at least in her direction. Offering a smile towards Seojun, she briefly waved and mouthed the words “Mornin’” in hopes he was looking at her and not just zoned off. Truthfully, Ayumi found him a bit more peculiar compared to the other students in class. On the outside he seemed like any normal scholar who aimed for the best, and studied his butt off to be the best—something Ayumi hasn’t done since her change, but behind those dimpled smiles lies a guy who desires to cause mischief and is quite open about it as it’s ensured various conversations between the two involving trouble.

Looking away, Ayumi directed her attention back to Hwari and peered to see what her file looked like. “Wonder what they marked Miss. Princess down for.”

Dae-Hyun honestly felt that everything that sad happening was priceless. It just felt too good to be through. Sure he was being accused of being X, someone who he really didn't care about, but what would be the reason as to why he was being accused. Of course when the file was handed to him, he had to raise an eyebrow when he was what was written on it. It just basically said how since he was amongst one of the lowest ranked, that he wanted to bring down the ranking system. Sure he loathed the system but why would he try to destroy said system? He had better things to do. He had to work, he had to live his own and not worry about what happens once he leaves school.

But one thing that Dae Hyun wanted to do more than anything was to laugh at the others. Even those who had great grades where being accused, heck even Jihoon was being accused, something that he though would had been impossible. It was like everything was coming down just cause one person had decided to do something against the school while the rest had decided to just laid back and do nothing, even if he himself fell in that category. Yawning to himself, he just looked at the rest of his classmates. Even though he barely knew any of hem, he just couldn't see it being any of them. It just wouldn't make sense at all, since he had been a classmate of them for a long time. "Honestly all of this is bull crap, I cn understand why they would feel that I'm one of the many people being accused of being 'X' but I just don't see how some of you can be him, some of you have even higher rank then me yet it surprise me to see y'all being accused also." He said out loud, before going back to looking at the file. Considering that he only spoke when spoken to, it was kinda surprising that he himself had said something.

woahhwari continued to twirl a lock of her hair around her finger. it was a nervous tic, but she figured the act made her seem more intimidating than anxious to the average person. at least she didn’t, like, bite her nails or chew on erasers or something equally gross. she scanned the classroom, idly wondering if she should just try to pin the blame for X on some rando at their first meeting in order to avoid the tediousness of attending more meetings. ailee and dae-hyun would probably be the easiest targets, she mused, her eyes skipping from one to the other. ailee had never been particularly nice to her – pretty rude, actually. hwari froze when she made eye contact with min woo. it only lasted for a few long seconds before he looked away, but she could still feel herself starting to blush. hopefully no one had noticed that weird moment. what was she thinking, anyways? she scrapped the idea before it could come any further to fruition; none of them deserved to become the scapegoat for a situation that was mostly out of their control. and if she was being honest, she didn’t really want X to be caught either.
woahjihoon was going on about how terrible it would be for them if they failed to accuse anyone, and hwari rolled her eyes so hard it almost hurt. “deep shit,” yeah, right. the rest of them might be in deep shit, but he wasn’t fooling her with his sympathetic nonsense. there was no way mr. moon would charge his own son with a crime if he wasn’t even willing to conduct a formal investigation out of fear of his reputation being stained. the fact of the matter was that jihoon would be fine. he was probably only part of the list of “suspects” in order to make his classmates more friendly to the idea of doing his dad’s dirty work.
woahhwari, on the other hand, wouldn’t be fine if they decided to turn on her. she puffed her cheeks out and exhaled slowly, thinking about the possibility of expulsion. her parents would probably send her off to boarding school again - maybe the one in france that her mother seemed to like so much - and then she wouldn’t be back in korea until she was twenty-something and even more messed up in the head.
woahthe files being passed out were enough to get her out of her thoughts. everyone around her rifled through theirs, and she listened to the resulting snippets of surprise or indignation. she smiled at ayumi’s reaction to her file. a trickster never tells their plans. maybe that’s why this thing exists.” hwari tapped the thin manila folder on ayumi’s desk.
woah”wonder what they marked miss princess down for.”
woahhwari wrinkled her nose in disdain at the nickname but flipped open her file nonetheless. ”openly antagonistic towards school policy… disruptive, bitter, belligerent – wow, they’re really painting a flattering picture, huh… timing of protests matches up with X’s misconduct… close relations with another suspect, choe – oh my god, ayumi, i think they think we could be working together as X. like some sort of double job.” the idea was so ridiculous that hwari couldn’t help but laugh. something else was bothering her, though. there were plenty of students who complained about the school’s stupid ranking system, rich and poor alike, so why were they targeting her specifically? and what was this about the timing matching up with X?

Ailee listened to every comment after hers, noting how her words were barely acknowledged, not that it surprised her. Rhythmically, her fingers drummed against the edge of her desk, a tic she had picked up from her brother when she was younger. Her eyes scanned over everyone, starting at Jihoon. She almost scoffed at his words. If he was X he would get away with it easy, they would all be silenced and the entire thing swept under the rug. Why couldn't he just take the blame considering the ramifications would be much less severe for him. There was a girl she didn't know the name of, something beginning with a H? She knew she was popular enough and was pretty high on the ranking system but that was all. Was there really any reason for her to be X? She was surprised when the blonde kid spoke. Either she hadn't heard him speak since she arrived or she just hadn't paid attention. Either way it was slightly weird. He didn't seem to care enough to be X. Choe Ayumi. She had taken note of her on her first day. Ailee admired her ability to do whatever the hell she liked, not like she had tried approaching the girl, she had her own rebellious nature to focus on. She could see her being X. It seemed in her nature and she definitely had the creativity for it. Jin-tae...he was just adorable in her eyes. There's was something about him that made her want to protect him. Maybe it was because he reminded her of her brother before his rebellious side kicked in. She couldn't see it being him but at the same time, looks could be deceiving. Jihoon's friend, another one she couldn't remember the name of. She knew basically nothing about him so she guessed she couldn't really judge if he was capable of being X or not. Then there was the guy who looked at Ayumi with puppy dog eyes. How no one else had noticed was beyond her. She guessed maybe he could be X in order to try and impress Ayumi? She knew that she herself wasn't X. Although she was gutted she hadn't thought of the idea herself, it was creative and she loved anything that was a big F-you to the establishment.

As her file was dropped in front of her, she rolled her eyes. She already knew what it said. Everyone knew she had been kicked out of her last school. They also knew that it had involved her hacking. No one knew, however, what exactly it was she had done. It was something she was highly thankful for too, as that would mean they'd have known about her brother. Nevertheless, she opened the file and snorted when it said exactly what she expected. 'No friends, kicked out of last school, trouble maker, skills X would need'.
"Well you know it's serious when the kid I have never heard speak says something." She chuckled, eyes on Dae-Hyun for a moment before looking around at everyone. "Well I guess I should get something out of this. My money is on Jihoon because it's freaking obvious he hates his dad and family issues seem like a better reason for this than 'hates the system'. But there's no way in hell he'd do it alone so I'm going for him working with the chick I don't know the name of cause the sexual tension there is ridiculous." She smirked, pointing at Hwari as she spoke. "Anyone else wanna make a bet with me?"

The genuine interest Min Woo had in the conversation was long gone. In fact, a piercing pain was developing in the temple area and it was hard to keep his eyes open. Running on four hours of sleep a day was definitely catching up to him quick and those four hours might even drop down to three or two depending how long him and everyone else are forced to stay after school. Jihoon's comment about trying to reschedule the meetings for another time didn't help his case much either, considering his father was a complete jackass and that probably wouldn't happen. No offense to Jihoon.

Should I just quit? Min Woo thought, sighing to himself as he rubbed his eyes gently. His legs stretched out under the desk and his arms came to a cross in front of his chest. With the slight shake of his head, he erased the thought from his mind and concluded he'd just deal with it for now. There's only a few months of school left. Why not?

His attention barely returned when Ailee made a snarky remark about some kind of bet. Min Woo was legitimately lost in terms of the conversation train--not that that he actually cared. He didn't really know her and it wasn't old news that when Min Woo didn't know or particularly care about someone, his or her words went in through one ear and then out the other. She must've said something relatively important, however, because his best friend blatantly came out in front of the entire class.

Did he even realize?

Deciding that changing the topic was the best option, since everyone was basically at each other's throats and it was honestly annoying, Min Woo got up form his seat. The friction metal against wood sent a loud screech throughout the room, prompting a moment of silence which was greatly appreciated. "Teacher." Min Woo said calmly, although his voice projected loudly and clearly. Mrs. Shin slowly popped her head through the door looking like a skittish mouse that was entering a den of hungry cats. Her expression was one of hesitance; it was almost pitiful. "Can we go to lunch now? We're obviously not learning anything today with this X drama that's going around campus."
